Lol people are seriously asking why I’m planning on zerker? is this real life? because zerker is the only acceptable thing to use in pve.

As for “trashing an ascended set” I can always restat them later with the mystic forge if I find that full zerk isn’t to my liking, but I’m seriously doubting that will happen.

If you are going with a Shiro/Glint power build then yeah, people are seriously asking. With perma fury and the traits to increase your fury effectiveness you can get close to 100% crit easily without full zerker set. Which then means that if you add full zerker on top of that you are wasting a stat with all that unnecessary perception. That’s why Valk. is so popular since it give Power, Ferocity, and Vit.. If you augment that with some zerker trinkets and such you still keep the 100% crit, have the same power and ferocity as zerker, but then also don’t waist a stat and get additional vitality.

That is why people are seriously asking.

Brutal Blade

And the terrain bug only applies to projectile skills that follow the camera (Fireball), not ones that always stay at ground level (Bladetrail).

Go on an Ele, point your camera at the ground and use fireball. It will fly into the ground. Then do it looking up, it will fly into the air.

Then go on a Warrior and use Bladetrail. It will go straight ahead of the character the same way no matter what way the camera is facing. Same with Path Of Scars on Ranger. Brutal blade was like this., too.

I’ll bet you can’t get Bladetrail or Path of Scars to shoot into the ground no matter what.

That’s all well and good, but this video suggests that the projectile issue on Rev. AA was a real thing. Good change in my opinion.

Super excited for Halloween. If we get new stuff, great, if not then I’m good with that too. Just hope the Labrynth doesn’t get hit with a nerf bat as I always find it a blast.

My only complaint is timing. I’m hoping the information presented that it will go on with HoT just means they will run side-by-side and not necessarily that they have the same launch day. I’d like to get a week or so of good clean Halloween fun in before HoT steals attention away from it.

Mace: what to do?

in Revenant

Invictus.1503

I suggested this a while back, but as it is directly relevant to this conversation I’ll repost. In short, since we don’t have a ranged option that works well with condies at all (hammer is nice, but has no synergy with condi build), I propose that the mace be given a similar treatment as the underwater spear for Revenant.

Proposed Solution: give the mace the same treatment as the underwater spear received
- This would put good use to the amazing mechanic that has become available recently and applied to spear. It seems a shame not to use this new mechanic more
- The mace is a good condi weapon, but sometimes range is just needed and this would allow more seamless weapon usage as (mentioned above) the hammer just feels out of place in that type of build
- This would encourage smart placement and more interesting battle presence since you get different results depending on range

Proposed change for AA (though would love to see other ideas here):
- 0-160 range – slightly more direct damage than current and slightly less condi duration applied
- 161-600 range- Less direct damage than current, about the same condi duration applied
- 601-900 range – Very little direct damage, add poison to the second attack, slightly increase torment duration

not this week?, Master Jedi?

They need time to not only read the feedback, but parse through it for the nuggets that can be found there. Then comes the brainstorming sessions to see what suggestions stick, and what may lead to new ideas as well. Then they need to figure out what is within the realm of possibilities (not all suggestions fit within current engine’s capabilities I’m sure). Finally thought on how proposed changes would affect other skills, play styles, and balance. Once this is done then they can start setting up the trials and testing.

Things like that take time.

I’m actually ok with this. It leaves the Mursaat open for other storylines. We know the white mantle still operate in Maguuma and so I can see them leading us to a Muraat story. Can’t see all this white mantle stuff not leading to one of the fan favorite races in the lore quite frankly.

How fun is revenant?

Shiro – Polished, fun and useful

Jails – Has potential, but currently not quite there. Hoping to see some good things based on last BWE feedback

Ventari – Unique and interesting. Fun if you like healing builds. Not my cup of tea, but I’m generally impressed with the feel for those who like the style

Mallyx – Lacking flavor and uniqueness after the latest changes. Was tremendously fun in BWE1 & BWE2, rather boring in BWE3. Hoping for some revisions here to bring it back

Glint – Interesting and fun to play with. Very unique mechanic and useful too

Overall – Revenant is unique with energy mechanic and although it has some rough edges it is generally a fun and interesting class. I suspect that button mashers will hate it, high level players may dislike lack of customization (skills are set), but the people in the middle will find it very rewarding.

Invictus.1503

I freaking hated that mission. 20+ minutes are spent literally standing there, killing quickly-killed mobs, waiting for more things to kill.

You must have played it after the nerf

I did it with heroes and hench. It was every bit as boring as Rose implies. Pre-nerf and post. Plus, little things could cause the bonus to fail and you might never know until completing the mission. And the icing on the cake is, every so often, Jalis would rush into danger, and put the entire mission at risk.

However, that’s my objection about the implementation of the mission’s concept. There were definitely some interesting goals and challenges.

Even so, if ANet was going to bring back challenges from GW1 and adapt them to GW2 raids, there are half a dozen others I’d prefer to see over T’head Keep.

If you did it with Heroes, you did it post Nerf. It was a blast, and rather difficult back with “Guild Wars Prophesies” was simply “Guild Wars” since there were no other campaigns.

Agree with OP, bring it back as part of a raid please!

I think unrelenting assault in it’s current form is too strong in pvp. 7 hits with a 12 second cool down is alot. Even if I double dodge it would hit me 5 times without problem. If I leap away it would still catch up and if I block it, it will be off CD before my block will be.

I’d sugest increasing the cooldown on this skill or reducing the number of hits. Instead you could look at increasing the dmmg on the autoattack to keep sword a balanced weapon on revenant.

I don’t get this, the windup is rather decent warning. Any number of CC will stop this from hitting and timing isn’t hard to get down. Then there are other counters (block, invuln, dodge, etc.) if you don’t get it during the windup.

Invictus.1503

I posted this in the feedback thread, but it is relevant here too. This after two days of testing.

Playstyle – Mallyx seems very confused lately. I know that Roy removed the condition distribution aspect of EtD because it conflicted with supporters clearing your conditions. Ok, while I completely disagree pesonally, I could accept that if the entire legend was redone accordingly as well. Unfotunately it wasn’t and what we get is a very confused feeling legend. Let’s evaluate:

Why Mallyx seems confused

-Pain Aborption: Gives you conditions without anything productive to do with them anymore

-Pain Absorption: Is more powerful with conditions, which seems contradictory to Roy’s reason for nerfing EtB

-Empowered Misery: Is more powerful with conditions, which seems contradictory to Roy’s reason for nerfing EtB

- Replenishing Despair: Granted could be considered condition defense, but made a lot more since when you were wanting those conditions (and had self applied condies)

- Bolstered Anguish: This trait’s entire play is wanting those conditions on you the same as the pre-nerfed EtB. So, why did EtB have its piece removed, but this trait remained. Makes no sense given the logic provided for the reason for EtB’s change

- Pulsating Pestilence: Only makes sense when you are gathering conditions like crazy. Has the exact playstyle (though unreliably) as the former version of EtB. So, once again I have to wonder why EtB was changed when this wasn’t assuming the reason given was the real reason (didn’t play well with boon stripping support)

In all, my conclusions are that something isn’t right here. If Mallyx is wanted to make just another condition spec, then many of the skills and traits need to be revamped because if I can’t use the conditions I gather reliably and well like the old EtB, then I don’t want the all these skills and traits that seem to thirst for conditions. Additionally we really need better access to conditions in that stance as it is a shell of the access we had before. Frankly, Mace is much better at condies than Mallyx himself.

Ideally, I’d like to see a few minor tweaks, but give EtB back its condi copy function again. There are a number of suggestions in other threads (especially the one where the change was first mentioned) to help make this happen.

Well, not exactly a solution to your perceived problem of that particular weapon inscription being account bound, however there is a simple solution to your premise. Don’t craft them. If you don’t want them, just don’t craft them. I have every crafting discipline at 500 and have never made a Shifting Ineffable Inscription or anything like that. - Sylvari – you have too many…out

- Charr – you have too many…out

- Asura – you don’t like clipping issues and it “bugs you too much”…out

- Norn – seems sluggish and you don’t like any of their armors except Cultural 3…possibility however lack of options of armor and slow pace will likely make this race get old for you very quickly, so final conclusion is that they are out

- Human – you like the options, they just seem bland…you can make them less bland with constantly changing and using unique different armor sets, as well as using makeover kits to use the more unique hair styles, faces, and colors. This seems the obvious choice for you given the details you provided.

Cooldown Evaluation/Comparison

in Revenant

Invictus.1503

I thought I’d put together a comparison of cooldowns on our weapon skills compared to the same weapons for other professions. From my understand, Revenant is about energy management and because of this cooldowns should be lower than other classes that don’t have to manage energy. Let’s see how they compare:

Staff:
Skill 2: 5s (Rev) 3s (Gaurd) 1s (Ranger) 6s (Ele Fire) 10s (Mes) 5s (Nec) 0s (Thief)
Skill 3: 10s (Rev) 15s (Gaurd) 5s (Ranger) 10s (Ele Fire) 18s (Mes) 16s (Nec) 0s (Thief)
Skill 4: 15s (Rev) 20s (Gaurd) 8s (Ranger) 20s (Ele Fire) 35s (Mes) 20s (Nec) 0s (Thief)
Skill 5: 20s (Rev) 40s (Gaurd) 10s (Ranger) 30s (Ele Fire) 35s (Mes) 32s (Nec) 0s (Thief)
Combined Total: 50s (Rev) 78s (Gaurd) 24s (Ranger) 66s (Ele Fire) 98s (Mes) 73s (Nec) 0s (Thief)

Hammer:
Skill 2: 2s (Rev) 5s (Gaurd) 12s (War) 6s (Engi)
Skill 3: 8s (Rev) 15s (Gaurd) 12s (War) 10s (Engi)
Skill 4: 12s (Rev) 25s (Gaurd) 20s (War) 20s (Engi)
Skill 5: 15s (Rev) 40s (Gaurd) 30s (War) 24s (Engi)
Combined Total: 37s (Rev) 85s (Gaurd) 74s (War) 60s (Engi)

Mace:
Skill 2: 3s (Rev) 8s (Gaurd) 10s (War)
Skill 3: 8s (Rev) 15s (Gaurd) 15s (War)
Combined Total: 11s (Rev) 23s (Gaurd) 25s (War)

Sword MH:
Skill 2: 4s (Rev) 10s (Gaurd) 8s (War) 8s (Ranger) 0s (Thief) 12s (Mes)
Skill 3: 12s (Rev) 15s (Gaurd) 15s (War) 15s (Ranger) 0s (Thief) 12s (Mes)
Combined Total: 16s (Rev) 25s (Gaurd) 23s (War) 23s (Ranger) 0s (Thief) 24s (Mes)

Sword OH:
Skill 4: 15s (Rev) 15s (War)15s (Mes)
Skill 5: 15s (Rev) 15s (War) 20s (Mes)
Combined Total: 30s (Rev) 30s (War) 35s (Mes)

Axe OH:
Skill 4: 12s (Rev) 12s (War)
Skill 5: 15s (Rev) 15s (War)
Combined Total: 27s (Rev) 27s (War)

Shield OH:
Skill 4: 15s (Rev) 20s (Guard) 20s (War) 30s (Mes)
Skill 5: 20s (Rev) 24s (Guard) 25s (War) 40s (Mes)
Combined Total: 35s (Rev) 44s (Guard) kitten (War) 70s (Mes)

So, do with this analysis what you will. My opinion is that some of these seem to be spot on, however overall it seems the cooldowns do not make up fully for the energy management necessary when comparing. Obviously the skills themselves are not exactly apples to apples comparisons, however this gives a good starting point for comparisons. What your your thoughts?

Guild Mission/Favor problem for 1-2 p guilds

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Invictus.1503

Invictus.1503

I’m sorry but 1-2 people do not make a “guild.” Let’s look at definitions:

Guild: an association of people for mutual aid or the pursuit of a common goal

Association: a group of people organized for a joint purpose.

Group: a number of persons or things ranged or considered together as being related in some way.

So, in conclusion it is impossible, by definition, to have a guild of 1. Additionally, although the strictest sense of the definitions do allow 2 to be considered a guild, that is an extremely liberal definition of “a number of persons.” Common connotations of the term “a number of persons” indicates at least 3 people.

Yeah, as long as mobs and the events give exp, I imagine they’ll count for Tyrian masteries. But I wouldn’t expect them to count for Maguuma ones at all.

That’s what I thought as well, then got to thinking that maybe they wouldn’t want masteries leveled there. I just hope they don’t “update” the Labrynth by making it like Silverwastes where mobs don’t drop loot or give xp, but instead only events do and you get the dancing chest for event completions. That would kill the area and much of the fun.

I just hope that they don’t change that area. Sure, you get a lot of experience and drops are nice, but it is also great fun. Considering it is only for a limited time it isn’t detrimental to the game and just let’s you “go nuts” for a while.

So, with Druid reveal the Glyph of Tides pushes enemies away from your location. Seems this is basically what Unyielding Anguish did before except it use to displace. Why not simply keep the functionality (loved the skill) with this mechanic instead of displacement?

No it did not in any sense and it’s not anything else than a warrior hammer 4.

Not sure what you mean? Unyielding Anguish (before the notes from above) was a leap that displaced enemies (meaning they were forced out of a radius with you as the center and couldn’t re-enter). The problem seems to be the displacement mechanic was too “disorienting” and ignored things like stability. Glyph of the Tides for Druid knocks back all enemies within a radius centered on you.

I don’t see why Unyielding Anguish couldn’t remain the same as it was before, just putting the same knockback mechanic of GotT when you land in your leap. It would then keep the functionality it had before, without being “disorienting” and without the OP version that was ignoring Stability.

Very unlikely due to the vast amount of hair styles and clipping issues if they keep that in tact. Best you might see is standardized hair with the hat (similar to Dwayna outfit), but even that is extremely unlikely as there is little incentive to add it to an existing skin.

The thing to understand is that helmets and hats that go over the hair are very difficult to program. About the only headgear we see working with hair are those that go under the hair by design.

Mechanics are what they are really looking to feedback for, and I really agree with this. Look at all the feedback on elite specs and the adjustments they’ve already made based on that feedback. There has been some feedback on the mastery system which they have utilized well from beta to beta. Gliding even received some minor tweaks based on feedback as have some mob design. Stronghold has seen adjustments and so has WvW based on feedback.

Overall I think they are doing very well with getting and using feedback without giving away too much of the story content. Additionally, Anet has shown themselves be be rather responsive with their updates to adjust and correct issues as they may come up (for permanent content at least…let’s not talk about the Mordrem Invasion event).

Fair does not mean equal

Is this equal for all races? No.
Is this fair to the story and the player base? Yes.

Personally I think it is great storytelling when telling a story about the dragon who created the race. As others have mentioned, I’m sure they will do something similar (but not the same) with other races with future expansions. You have choices and just as much opportunity as the rest of people. Play it, watch it, read about it, etc. as you see fit, but please do not presume it is bad design because you don’t like it.

Okay, so when I read the Scrapper reveal I thought the name “Thunderclap” sounded familiar as a skill name, but figured I must just remember it from GW1. Then I watched WoodenPotatoes and saw he recognized it too and elaborated. With the addition of the Scrapper skill “Thunderclap” there are now THREE active skills in the game spanning three different classes that have the same name.

Anet, did this really escape your attention?

Thunderclap – Ranger downed skill – Damages your target and dazes foes around that target.

Thunderclap – Elementalist conjure (hammer) skill – Smash the ground and damage nearby foes.

Thunderclap – Scrapper hammer skill – Ionize an area, bringing down the power of lightning to stun and damage enemies over its duration.

as someone who doesn’t PvP or WvW, I’m underwhelmed as hell.

the big profession mechanic is utterly useless in PvE unless there is someone dying nearby, and the elite is purely a PvP ability considering how insanely situational stealth is in PvE for non-thieves.

consider that for the elite mechanic revenants get a new legend, necros get a new death shroud, mesmers get to save-scum, the ability to rez/finish someone at range is so situational outside of PvP that unless HoT adds a LOT of finishable enemies like the toxic alliance, it may as well not exist.

We have no idea on the hammer cd’s & power-scaling so you may want to wait before calling it useless.
Also, do you remember the toxic alliance? I wouldn’t be surprised if you meet a lot of mordrem in the future that need to be stomped

With Raids (purely a PvE thing) I’d suspect the skill to be rather useful as I think they’ll end up adding enemies that need stomped as well as you’re likely to have teammates falling and needing to be rez’d.

A few more things:

  • I reduced the after-cast of unyielding anguish by 260ms so it should help the responsiveness when you land.
  • Embrace the Darkness: Lowered the cast time and after-cast by 400ms and reduced it’s upkeep cost by 1 so it’s at a 7 upkeep cast right now.

Thanks for the update Roy. I’m sure your reviewing all of the suggestions being made to help keep Mallyx unique and fun to play. I look forward to seeing what your mind can do with all of the suggestions being given.

Oh, and as somebody else has said, please take these suggestions as our faith in you being the dev of the people (Roy’s our Boi!), and not a criticism.

- Skill that removes all boons on Mallyx and sends their inverse condition to all enemies within a radius (a true corruption, using his own boons rather than theirs)…I like this one as it seems a very demon-y thing to do “bah, I don’t need boons, but I can corrupt them into a weapon (evil laugh)!”

Immagine the sinergy with Glint wink wink

That is one main reason I suggested it. I was trying to think of a synergetic relationship that would be with traits other legends, and other players. It also, in my mind, plays to the attitude Mallyx seems to have towards the Revenant that summons him…disdain. So, by removing the helpful boons to the Revenant and channeling that as a weapon to enemies the flavor seems to be there too. If this were part of the EtD skill, we would welcome all those boon sharing classes to help us deal big pain to enemies.

It was never a gem store item. It was obtainable via PvP only. No PvE equivalent has ever existed. Current ones are the carry overs that happened when the wardrobe system was implemented and armor sets became usable in all game modes.

Not exactly true. I distinctly remember the Tribal armor as a reward in the original Beta weekends. On launch it was made a PvP only skin. I’ve posted and replied to threads on the topic of bringing it to PvE since shortly after launch, then threads about bringing it back to the game when they removed it completely with the Wardrobe change.

Answer: Tons of people. Just look at the forums talking about names and the Dragonhunter one in particular. It has a lot of responses. Also, I know from years of gaming that many many people are turned on or off by names. Marketting also has a vested interest in the right naming convention…

Oh, wait, although you phrased that as a question, you probably just meant that YOU don’t care about the name. Ok then, excuse the answer and go about your business

Roy please plase read this

I got an idea of a great Embrance the Darkness: All the effects that you want it to have with a Corruption Aura, but this aura is diferen, instead of comberting the boons the foe have to its condition counterpart, it ill corrupt your boon stacks to 5/6 seconds of torment (with your torment modifiers) that means if the target have 1 stability it will combert to 2 stacks of torment. This would help with all those phalanx warriors that have permanent over 15 stacks of might and would be OP. Thats why i state that the buffs wold corrupt 1/2 stack rounded up/down like 1=1, 2=1, 3=2, 10=5. and so forth.

Or any crazy variant you would bring after reading this. remeber we all
#Believe

Sounds familiar (see bold in quote below)…Only issue I can see with that is that current tech suggests that the engine is built to remove full stacks. Nothing so far indicates it being able to take partial stacks.

Suggestion to make him a Corrupter and once again unique if we can’t have the old Mallyx back.
-Trait/skill that prevented conditions from being cleansed by any source other than a demon skill while in the demon stance (a popular suggestion)

- Trait/Skill that “reflects” conditions back at the person sending them so that they receive what they are trying to send out (with Mallyx’s condition stats applied)

- Trait/Skill that transfers conditions from allies directly to enemies

- Trait/Skill that heals Mallyx for every tick of a condition on him equal to twice that of the actual tick of damage (give me your conditions if you dare!)

Let me say here that I think the changes to embrace the darkness are great for 2 reasons:

1. If I’m facing a condi heavy build, I prefer to save my energy for pain absorption to keep resistance uptime high.
2. If I’m facing a zerk heavy build, then old ETD is kinda useless but this new one will be great at spamming torment on mesmers and thieves with generally low condi clear.

Overall perfect change, in my opinion.

Seems like you didn’t spend much time using Mallyx during BWE2.
1. With Demonic Defiance keeping resistance wasn’t too hard. Use Pain Absorption, pop EtD, demolish them and if the fight went too long you switch legends, cleanse, go back to Mallyx and repeat. I found very little in the way of a condi build holding up to that.
2. Although definitely less useful, it was far from useless as you had self applying conditions from your own skills that fueled EtD. Not to mention, even zerk warriors and the like apply some condies on their normal attacks, which then fueled your EtD while you enhanced the damage with your own stats.

Not sure why felt you needed to start your post with an insult instead of commenting normally but whatever.

Regarding your comments, sure you could apply your self condis but they did not use your condition duration and were pretty weak anyways. Second, if you are simply relying on demonic defiance together with EtD to survive against a condi build then you will blow all of your energy from EtD very quickly and most likely die in your other legend unless you back off. Staying in Mallyx is pretty important against a condi build.

First off, I didn’t mean to be insulting, however looks like my fingers typed out the words too quickly and upon rereading it I see it did come out that way. For that, you have my apologies.

As to the topic, I found that as long as you ran a supportive second legend (Jalis at first, but found Glint complimented well too), when I faced a condi build and had to swap, they gave me survivability before popping back into Malyx pretty quickly (with the extremely low cooldown on legend swaps, getting back is easy). Glint’s heal is amazing in that respect. In all, seems we had rather different experiences and honestly I am going to truly miss the interesting play style that Mallyx offered.

Since torment is the main damaging condition for Revenant, I’ve been thinking about adding functionality to a trait or maybe changing the minor 2 in corruption to increase the base damage torment does while not moving while not increasing the while moving damage to help it become more of a viable option in all areas of the game. What do you all think?

It’s a good suggestion but unless torment is going to do as much damage as burning, I’m not sure how viable condi Rev will be in PvE. In PvP, this will be almost useless since everyone is always moving. Only useful on downed bodies I guess. All in all, it will probably never be taken in my opinion.

If we really want to make it useful in all areas of play, make a trait “Burning Torment – Whenever you apply Torment, you also apply 2 seconds of burning” give it an internal cooldown if you think it too powerful.

The block time is 3 seconds, you are rooted, conditions can be applied to you if the attack is unblockbale (Works like any other block skill), and the healing is the same 900 per tick resulting is just under 4k base.

What about capture prevention? I immagine is still there.

No, it doesn’t have capture point prevention on it anymore.

That makes a difference then. Still not a fan of rooting, but with this I feel a bit better about it. Absolutely a step in the right direction then.

I just wanted to stop in and say I’m definitely closely reading all the feedback about these changes and while I know some of you will miss some old functionality we feel it will be the right choice for the health of the game and profession for the long term. That being said I’m open to feedback and suggestions to make sure everything is awesome.

Also while it may be hard to see it on paper, some areas got improved such as torment application actually went up significantly. I can stack up an incredible amount internally, which is a bit scary, but we’ll have to see how it plays. It should help with making it much more of a condition damage viable build though.

Roy, glad to hear you are reading all the feedback. I’m assuming you are still reading the feedback and just wanted to reply so that people knew you were paying attention (you’re awesome that way ya’ know). As such, when you really take a deep dive you’ll see it isn’t as much about the power (though EtD does seem rather underwhelming at the moment) what people are generally upset about is that one of the most unique and interesting mechanics of Mallyx was removed and replaced with a rather bland torment spammer.

Before, it had a true risk/reward play style and although a majority of the players would never realize it’s potential (and it isn’t something that would fit EVERY scenario) it was truly fun to play and was a signature of the Revenant (so much so that Mallyx was the first to be revealed and got everybody exited in the first place).

If the group condi-cleanse was truly such a big issue, fine. But please don’t just make Mallyx a boring torment pusher. Give him a true Corrupter feel again, a legend to be feared like the demon once was in GW1. I have made a few suggestions in other threads, but will recap a few (forgive me if you’ve read these already). Others have made some good suggestions too:

Mallyx the Unyielding...Yields?

in Revenant

Posted by: Invictus.1503

Invictus.1503

So, in a shocking announcement we have discovered that the great demon Mallyx the Unyielding is having his entire theme taken from him, replaced by some standard condition dealing. For those who may not be completely in the know, Mallyx was known for welcoming conditions onto himself like no other, and then sending those conditions back out to his opponents for devastating results. He did not yield in his relentlessness and was one of the most interesting legends and play styles created to date.

Unfortunately in recent announcements it seems this did not play nice with some other support builds who would often try to cleanse these conditions (what a shocker, a demon not playing nice…who would have thought). Apparently there were complaints about this, though to be frank as an avid forum reader both here and on reddit I did not see these frustrated players that were referenced in the reasons given. My only conclusion is that the complaints were from other devs during raid testing (pure speculation here).

As a result, Mallyx has been stripped of what makes him unique, and what’s worse is that it was replaced with uninteresting torment (and some chill) applications. What a tragedy! The mighty demon was forced to Yield his ideals and not even given proper compensation with an equally interesting playstyle.

Now, I’m hoping this is just the shock of the news and will wear off soon as I’ve loved the Revenant (not only Mallyx, but all the legends) because of his unique feel, but this has turned me off to the profession for the time being.

However, there is still time my friends. Perhaps if we can offer testimony and/or alternative changes we can still help Mallyx get back his dignity before it is too late. Let’s post here fond memories of Mallyx as we knew him and also offer suggestions for how he can be given a unique feel without being disruptive to those supporty players as well. I’ll start.

Suggestions
- Mechanic/Trait/Skill that “reflects” conditions back at the person sending them so that they receive what they are trying to send out (with Mallyx’s condition stats applied)
- Mechanic/Trait/Skill that transfers conditions from allies directly to enemies
- Mechanic/Trait/Skill that heals Mallyx for every tick of a condition on him equal to twice that of the actual tick of damage (give me your conditions if you dare!)
- Mechanic/Trait that prevented conditions from being cleansed by any source other than a demon skill while in the demon stance
- Mechanic/Trait/Skill that removes all boons on Mallyx and sends their inverse condition to all enemies within a radius (a true corruption, using his own boons rather than theirs)…I like this one as it seems a very demonish thing to do “bah, I don’t need boons, but I can corrupt them into a weapon (evil laugh)!”

Please Roy, don’t let your most interesting creation be made boring and/or weak because it didn’t play nice with others. I’m sure you can work your magic to make him much more interesting than what it seems he’s turned into. I still believe!

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Reposted from the sticky thread as it is relevant here:

I’m very sad right now for the gutting of the Legendary Demon Stance. I get get the point that was being made as it made it difficult to run with others who were pulsing condition cleanse, but it seems like it was taken too far.
Mallyx now seems very bland. I loved the unique feel of Mallyx in BW1 and BW2. He was unique, interesting, and had his own play style. Seems now he is a poor man’s necromancer or condi engi. Even with these changes, I was surprised that he didn’t deal in more “corruption” given that is what his trait line is even named. He applies some conditions and that is it. He doesn’t transfer much, he doesn’t corrupt, he doesn’t absorb and send back at all.

Suggestions: Give Mallyx some unique corruption mechanics.
-Have a skill that steals conditions from allies and instantly transfer them to enemies.
-Perhaps another skill that applies a stack of torment, then also applies another stack of any condition the target already has on them.
-An upkeep skill that returns all incoming conditions to their source (if somebody tries to apply a condition to you, they receive the condition themselves instead)
Things along those lines that are unique and interesting.
