Nobody knows for sure except devs and those on an NDA neither of which are able to talk. Personally I doubt there will be, it hasn’t been Anet’s style to re-purpose special currencies.
I see many people asking but no answer, really.
And you thought asking for a 15th time would produce a different result?
That, my friend, is Einstein’s definition of insanity.
It isn’t like these happen often. Patch days (once every two weeks, sometimes longer) and as somebody mentioned, in an instanced run at least they give you an hour. Minor inconvenience at best for a much needed and appreciated fix or add in most cases.
I’m surprised this thread hasn’t been closed yet as I believe calling out Anet employees is prohibited in these forums. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see an answer, just surprised is all. I will be extremely surprised if an answer is given though.
Dunno….
Maybe they couldn’t come up with a ‘plausible’ extra for it to drop.
For the sickle? Pristine Toxic Spores. Hell it would even be thematically consistent to have a golem harvesting it so there’s no danger of being affected by the toxicity.
This is what I was expecting, and personally a little disappointed that it didn’t (though I know many others will disagree).
Don't let Scarlet go out like a punk!

Dragon appears and eats scarlet in one bite. LS over…goodbye
If you were so selfless you wouldn’t care if others could see it or not. >.>
It isn’t a humility potion, it is a selfless potion. There is a difference
Seriously though, I agree and have reported it for the bug I dearly hope it is as I love the concept.
So, with the Watchwork Pick it gave a controversial 20% chance to harvest sprockets. This new sickle has no extra chance for anything. Does this mean that the pick was a one time thing, perhaps an experiment on customer reaction that showed the community called foul?
What are your thoughts?
2: The exit should work more like the Hall of Monuments token and return you to your original location. Dropping a lev 8 into Gendarran Fields upon using the account item that gets us to the airship is a bit disconcerting at best…
This, if it dropped me back off where I used the item, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. As it is now…meh.
Absolutely hate that my nameplate covers the halo. I got it and many in my guild wanted to see what it looked like, only to find they couldn’t see it unless they turned off player names. Very very disappointing.
I’m hoping this is a bug or just something not noticed in testing. I love the halo from the selfless potion, however it is covered by your nametag so others have trouble seeing it. Please either lower or raise the height to resolve this as the 250 heirlooms and 10g is not a cheap price.
I believe it was mentioned, but I’m very annoyed at the fact that the height is the same as your name tag making it difficult for others to see. Please either raise or lower the height slightly to avoid the nametag above our heads.
If I had to guess, it is probably intentional in order not to interfere with most helmets. Remember, you can where these while still wearing your helmet.
Zodical Armors : Lore breaking content
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Invictus.1503
In GW1 Factions, you should become “Closer to the Stars”, the “Factions” equivalent to Prophecies “Ascended”. But zodiacal bodies was only for mobs during this questline, explained by shorter frontiere through “The Mists”. But Zodiacal creatures wasnt “alive”. In GW1 you could loot Zodiac Weapons on those mobs.
Magical thing in Tyria (the world, not the continent) are explained by the Bloodstones. Zodiac and other stuff by “The Mists”. Zodiac Armors bought by players in a cash shop are Lore Breaking. If only they earned it though a quest in “The Mists” to become “Closer to the Stars”… But no, then it’s Lore Breaking.
Does a cash shop with very very high magical stuff is lore breaking ? Yes.
Does we could see something like that in GW1 ? No. Because GW2 is not here to please fans, only to make money. But this is another story.
Frankly, if you take this statement to it’s logical conclusion, basically you are saying that the mere presence of a cash shop is lore breaking.
well then this event is pointless because no1 doing what should be doing and that is search and rescue civilians ,loot from bags is crap anyway!
Read some of the other threads on this topic. There are great ideas there for how this could have been done differently so that everybody is happy and the event is done as intended. Short answer is to make reviving citizens a rewarding job.
1) Give loot for reviving citizens similar to what can be gained through zerg
2) Add an achievement for saving citizens that is tiered (honestly am shocked this wasn’t in there)
3) Give ingame indication when we have reached another tier of the event (such as the miasma notices except saying something like “Good start 100 people saved, keep this up” and give for each tier achieved)

I don’t get how it breaks lore. Zodiac has had a large presence in overall lore of GW since GW1. Much of the Cantha content was based on the stars and the zodiacs, in fact you fought star constelations in some parts of Cantha. Where is the lore breakage?
I think this update has much more potential for fun than it is realizing due to this very reason. A few simple solutions. Make reviving citizens an achievement to hit and give some loot bags when you revive them (or give something else unique).
In essence make reviving citizens just as profitable as following the zerg. As it is, yeah there is a chance for big rewards if 1500 citizens are saved, but there is a problem with that. 1) Not everybody knows about the reward, 2) the reward is based on the dreaded RNG for a one shot per event prize, and 3) if you try to save citizens you loose out on the definite loot the zerg would provide and still have a good chance to not get any loot at the end if it fails because so many people follow the zerg.
In the end, people often choose the sure bet loot rather than the chance at a RNG that may treat you well.
I agree completely. I think this update has much more potential for fun than it is realizing due to this very reason. A few simple solutions. Make reviving citizens an achievement to hit and give some loot bags when you revive them (or give something else unique).

They should give more rewards for saving citizens. Multiple loot bags for rezzers to equalize the gain with staying in zerg. Or better yet, something unique.
You get them by spending 250 found heirlooms at a refugee vendor. They’re called a “Potion” so I very much want to know if they are permanently useable and account bound before I push myself to chasing heirlooms.
A number of people (including myself) have been asking this question. Would have been nice if there was something that indicated this either in game or in the release notes!
Canach & Sherif Siriam just hanging out?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Invictus.1503
So I checked and Canach is still in his little cell and Sherif Siriam is standing there “guarding” him. They are both just standing around nonchalantly as if nothing is happening. Neither will talk to you and neither seem to care about the destruction just outside their wide open door. In fact, a random speaking bubble comes up over Canach’s head occasionally saying “state your business.”
Either this is absolutely horrible writing, or it is a bug and they shouldn’t be there. I’m voting on the latter because I can’t see this being Anet’s intention when they so obviously put a lot of thought and effort into this patch. Here’s hoping this is fixed as it does take away from the emmersion of the event for people like me.
I absolutely love that they put that in! I applaud whichever dev thought of that

I’m on TC, and even if I enter within seconds of it opening up, I still go to overflow. So servers like mine are fine.
Now we get complaints from people who gave up hope on the chests coming back and they deleted all their keys….
I gave up hope on the chests coming back and deleted all my keys, but I’m not going to complain since it’s a futile effort, I mean I thought it was fairly obvious that you had to use the keys for an event that was going to be removed BEFORE it got removed.
No biggie anyway, only losing a few greens and a pair of yellows
I figured it was coming back because in a forum before this update somebody asked and Anet said they would be staying. Guess I just got lucky in seeing that forum a week or so ago.
Captains Airship Access only for 1 Character
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Invictus.1503
I went through the same thing, except I figured from the start it would be an item that needed used (like the instruments, the unlimited gathering items, the armor, commander tags, etc.) so didn’t buy it.
I like the thought behind the tiered upgrade process and the customization of color.
However, I dislike that it is tied into crafting (why crafting for everything over the last 8 months?) and the aesthetic design. Needless to say, I will not be farming any on this to-around.
This, frankly I am unhappy that the last stage requires a crafting discipline. Why do all of the best armors almost have to be crafted?

From the description it is simply another version of the Royal Terrace. Purely a convenience area.
YEs oma, it sucks bigtime. i rather have them do it tomorrow. i agree fully.
So…if you can’t have it, nobody can? What about those third shifters who never get first crack? Seems a rather childish sentiment. It isn’t like it is a one time deal. It will be around for a while.
This has been in the suggestion forums multiple times (when there was a suggestions sub-forum). All-in-all most people love the idea. They did it in GW1, and I personally would welcome it completely. Make it a gem store item and then pay to use it (like the copper-fed-salvage-omatic) and usable outside of combat.
Frankly I want to save a template with traits and skills to change quickly without having to take time setting everything up from scratch again. Off the top of my head, I would like to have templates for:
-General PvE
-Dungeons
-Fractals
-WvW
-Team PvE
I don’t mind the silver cost to reset traits, but why must I go to LA (or other big city), talk to an NPC, take time to find all my traits and skills I want again, set them up, then go where I want to go?
the vigil is suppose to be a guild for vigil members, making that a main hub completely ruins that part of the lore.
would you like it if you made a guild hall and all of a sudden you see tons of ppl walking in your hall who are not even a member?
i seriously doubt it.The Vigil is an order whose main purpose is to help the helpless, so it makes sense that it will be a temporary hub until things settle down.
You beat me to this answer. Exactly, this is exactly within the lore. They are nearby, public, equipped to take in refugees for a short time (being a well kept keep) and their mission is to protect the week from the threat of the dragons and other dangers. If they made it the perm. replacement, that would be bad, but as a temp. refugee camp, I think it is perfect.
It seems like a lot of you guys are being a little over dramatic or excited about LA being destroyed. While that is a nice sentiment, I feel like as usual, a lot of people here are setting themselves up for disappointment, just like it usually happens with the unknown. This is usually the source for player generated hype and inevitably players will instead blame the developers.
So it is great that you are excited, but also acknowledge that you it might turn out not as grand and spectacular as some of you might think it will. Don’t set expectations too high. Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed.
This post seems rather presumptuous. That may be your life’s philosophy, but there are many other schools of thoughts here. Why should you presume to tell others what their outlook should be in this specific case or life in general. I won’t bother giving my philosophy as it is irrelevant to others. Optimism, Pessimism, or neutrality, to each their own and to each their own value to people.
Him telling people not to assume wild theories after LA’s destruction is perfectly reasonable.
There are legitimately people expecting Tengu to be released after Escape From LA as they come to the city’s rescue. Other people are whimsical of the idea that we’ll go to Cantha thanks to some unrelated plot convenience!
It’s okay to be excited. It’s not okay to over analyze and include details to the story or the patch that haven’t even been referenced.
Why is it not okay? A lot of people enjoy speculation, even wild speculation. Why is such activity “not okay?” Now if a person cannot handle being wrong and then takes it out on others because the reality didn’t meet their expectation, I see a problem there. That said, people who do that are the vocal minority and certainly not everybody (or even most). I play a game for enjoyment. If I also get enjoyment in wild speculation and don’t blame others or become abusive if I’m wrong, why is it not okay to be so speculative?
Mesmerizing is defined as to hold the attention of (someone) to the exclusion of all else or so as to transfix them. Technically nothing does this 100%, but clones and illusions can be said to do this as they do distract and hold attention. This is a large part of the mesmer’s kitten nal so I think it fits.

Wow, this one is early, but the same post that is seen just before EVERY patch day.
The answer is, and always will be until otherwise stated, that it will come out when it is ready. Typically it is around noon server time (which is PST), but they never give the estimate because they don’t want people to complain if it comes out later (or even sooner as I’ve heard people complain about that too).
With Halloween they introduced the greataxe…as a toy. The model is there and base animations there too. There have been a number of threads asking for it and I’d personally love to see it. Here’s hoping they get added in one of the feature patches in the relatively near future.
All of those examples show that they are immune to undeath, aka Zhaitan’s corruption. Although I don’t see Sylvari corrupted at all in game, is there any in game reference that they are immune to other dragons’ corruption?
Scale it down and put it in the fractals. Frankly that is one of the primary advantages for the fractals, you can make “temp” content “perm” and it can still make sense from a lore perspective.
Why do people think LA will be rebuilt?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Invictus.1503
LA will become an explorable area that we can visit any time and becomes a great map. A new permanent hub will be created (Vigil is simply short term solution). That new hub could very well be the opening of the Dominion of Winds (per one of my previous predictions).
There was a possible leak of new elites for every class. I posted them in the necro forum to discuss specifically that one and some good speculation was happening. Unfortunately the entire thread was just deleted
Most of my guild and I just DCed while doing guild missions. Major lag before and after too!
I started a thread like this in the necro forum and it just got deleted for violation of forum policy

One person mentioned Southsun Cove and I have to agree. It’s close, has “pirate paradise” written all over it, already has several wrecked ships that can be retooled into buildings like Lion’s Arch is and even has its own jumping puzzles. The only problem is the karka. I personally would love to see a living story patch where players decide to exterminate, relocate or domesticate them.
I thought the same thing. I mean SS Cove is under the jurisdiction of LA already. It is a quick portal away (or boat ride) and could make an excellent city if Karka are contained somehow. I mean it was setup for refugees once already, why are LA refugees any better than Shiverpeak or Ascalonian refugees?

It is ultimately a game, and all games have a predetermined end (arguably even PvP as one of the teams will win, that is predetermined. the only choice is which). Read a book, it ends how it is written. Play a game, there is illusion of choice at times, but the end is preprogrammed. I don’t see this living story any different. If you want something that isn’t predetermined, go out to real life. That is the only place you’ll find it, and even then some would argue that many of your decisions are only illusions there too.
I want to see LA fall and remain a ruin even after the invasion. A new hostile map that fills with leftover dredge and the like as well as some new hostile beasts. Make it explorable and basically a new map. Then rebuild a new hub elsewhere (Domain of Winds please).
Yes, give a light-armored profession that relies on active defenses (blinks, stealth, invulnerability) an elite that removes all of these abilities and their illusions so they can get in melee range and bash on their target and somehow miraculously survive.
Honestly, it sounds terrible. An elite that summoned a phantasm would be good. Even a signet elite. But not this. It’s so counter-intuitive to the profession’s design and play-style.
This exactly. I’d love for an elite summoned phantasm. Becoming a phantasm AND losing all of our existing phantasms is just a bit much for me without knowing further details.

2) Necro

My guild (AARM) on Tarnished Coast kills Teq almost religiously every Sunday both at reset and one time after reset.
PREDICTION: LA will be destroyed. After a bit of time the Tengu will open up the Dominion of Wind and their city will become the new hub of the world. Shortly after, you will be able to create Tengu as a playable race with the purchase of gems.
Then, the old LA will become an explorable area with enemies swarming into the desolated lands.
