Aside from the many bugs listed above (pathing, porting to just out of melee range, etc.) you can’t use it like every other class can use their leap, and that is distance closing the gap. With all other class leap skills, even if they are out of range, you still get mobility out of it. With Mesmer, if they are out of range, it simply fails.

If I remember right, in beta they had two skills. One that acts much like what we have now on Sword #3 and another that was Leap, that acts like what I’ve been talking about. Frankly I want a modified version of the one we lost for numerous reasons mentioned here and in previous posts.

PvE Skin locker

Invictus.1503

This has been suggested before and I’m doubtful on it’s implementation, however want to bring it up again since the “suggestion” forum is no longer active.

I want to change the look of my PvE toon, but have some nice armor on him already (actually this applies to multiple toons really). Unfortunately carrying around a full set of armor or two per toon takes up too much bank space. Why can’t I file this in a locker and retrieve as necessary.

Now ideally I’d like to simply be able to collect skins (much like the achievement skins). Meaning destroy the armor or weapon to salvage it’s skin and save that in a locker. Then be able to retrieve such skin at a later time to apply to an item. This would be a huge QoL improvement for me and others like me. It would also create a “gotta collect them all” mentality in many of us so that we would start buying or hunting weapons/armor to complete the locker set.

When it’s the players and not the equipment that matters most this game will finally have become interesting. The computer A.I. is simply too dumb, and the encounters are too rudimentary. A glass cannon assault should always fail but instead it’s the current uber-Meta and nothing else really matters.

I played a game of chess on my computer last weekend and as usual I set its playing strength to always be a tad better than my own. It was an exciting, tooth and nail experience. Guild Wars 2 will never ever come close to this. I still play the game for a variety of reasons but certainly not for the strategy and tactics.

Certainly they aren’t there yet, but they are making a push in that direction by adding more interesting battle mechanics. Teq., Marionette, Tri-Wurm are all steps in the right direction.

Switching the order (you leap and create clone at your location, then chain switches you and clone places) would still give the double leap finisher. It would likely fix the pathing issue since the second part is a teleport and rarely bugs. It would keep clever play style and in my opinion add to the feel of a mesmer’s in and out strategy. It also wouldn’t be an unthinkably major change in the skills uniqueness.

True. The immobilize on the swap synergies with Sword#2 nicely, so I’m not quite sure how to handle that change with this suggestion. Perhaps immob on the initial leap. Not sure what kind of balance issues this would have. (We’d essentially be able to leap in, invuln burst, and get out with little to no risk.)

I recognize this problem as well. Unfortunately, as somebody pointed out earlier and I’ve had happen myself so many times, right now with the port to them is so unreliable that a significant number of times you are too far away and when using Sword #2 skill you miss anyway. If it immobilized on the exit out, it could perhaps still synergize well with an offhand range attack or a weapon slot ranged attack.

Frankly I hate to agree on this point, but simply can’t help myself. This is an oversight that should be corrected. Either that, or make it fair and put Jennah, The Pale Tree, an Asura councilor, and the Norn Chiefton (is that his title?) in there to balance it out (joking of course on the suggestion).

I bank on that double leap finisher. With high boon duration, it’s great for stacking retal off Focus#4. Also very handy to heal up in a water field.

Sword #3 is a real joke. It bugs out all the time and even when it works it isn’t much use for a leap. The only redeeming factor is the immobility it creates on the chained skill, but this can be done by other more reliable means. To try to use this as a leap is laughable as I’m able to simply run to the target faster than I can execute the combo here to to get them (due to the relatively slow lead in). The exception is if somebody is running away, but between the range, the bugginess (a small rock will cause it to fail), and the slow speed of the combo makes this horrible when compared to other “leap” skills.

Note that other leap skills aren’t a stunbreak and don’t have 2 leap combo finishers in 1 skill.

I’ll grant you that, but still hold to the idea that we are lacking a valuable resources. We have a decent number of stunbreaks and although “one more” is never a bad thing, in this case it comes at too high of a cost.

Consider also that we have no passive speed boost like other classes, so I would consider the need for a leap to bridge gaps that much more important.

EDIT: Simple fix in my eyes would be to switch around the order a bit. You leap and create a clone on your location, then the second skill switches you and the clone. This, I would think, would fix the bug of it not working and also make it a real leap.

EotM map feels like PvE w/ a little WvW

Invictus.1503

Don’t get me wrong, I am having a blast on this map and think it is beautiful. That said, when I returned to the map yesterday (first and second day were different) the map felt like a PvE experience. Let me explain.

My guild got together on the map and when gathered we started capping points and getting achievements in a small zerg. During the time we were on the map we encountered very few enemies. In fact, in the 3.5 hours we were on the map, I didn’t even get enough player kills for my daily and never died myself (killed 7/10).

This has never happened to me on the other WvW maps, usually I have my kills in 15-20 minutes. I don’t know if the map is just too big and players were spreading out or if there were few players actually playing the map. Anybody else have this experience?

Anyone consider that Scarlet replaced the entire captains counsel with Memsered Watchknights?

I see this as being one of only 3 possible answers for the reaction of the lionguard.
1) See quote (Captains Counsel is replaced by mesmered Watchknights)
2) Captains Counsel is working for Scarlet
3) Extremely poor writing that assumes charactors are one dimensional and never learn any lessons based on past experience

I mean c’mon, how would the lionguard even think to respond like that given recent history. Let’s recap, shall we?
- Player charactor warns of a Zhiatan attack and are shrugged off. Then Lion’s Arch is attacked (Personal Story) and we must save them (along with the pact)
- Karkas attack
- Southsun is attacked (which falls in Lion Arch’s jurisdiction) by Canach
- Scarlet attacks the city and kills a counselor
- Scarlet JUST broke out Mia Trinn who orchestrated the attack on Lions Arch, obviously still holds a grudge against the city, and has a fairly large fighting force at her disposal.
- A “thumper” is found IN Lion’s Arch, placed there by a known hostile force and said “thumper” has shown activity now
- Evon Gnashblade, at the least a respected business man with ties into the community, has been warning of an attack for months now

How much more evidence does one need to at least make preparations to protect the city (the sole job of the lionguard in the first place)?

But give us that scavenger hunt to promote playing the game in a fun way for a nice goal rather than make us craft or pray to the RNG gods.

The new Asura is a female golemancer obsessed with Scarlet.

Well, I guess the writer who created Scarlet was so upset that no one liked the character they decided to write a fictional fan for the twig instead.

Seriously though we do not need another Zojja.

I’m hoping that her obsession with the tree lady implies that she is somewhat unstable, and not as goodie goodie as Zojja. I’ll. never forgive Zojjas comments about my infinity ball. What a wuss!

I’m hoping the obsession implies that she wants to force Scarlet’s knowledge into a golem that can tell them everything at a single command. Meaning killing her, and trapping her mind into some kind of orb for which to power her golem with. At which point said golem will tell them specific knowledge if they ask for it, and every now and then devolve into insane cackling.

This thought amuses me greatly. Thanks!

Golemancers are those who specialize in making golems. A sample size of 130 is nowhere near enough for such a statement. Last night I salvaged 25 rares with a master kit and came out with 21 ectos. By that sampling it could be said that they increased the drop rate. Of course it would be silly to make such a conclusion on such a small sample size.
