Duel Wielding does more damage than Axe Mastery BTW.
This.
And since you’ll be using +% dmg sigils it’s even better.
You want to make sure to use Empower so it finishes the channel right as your weapon swap recharges.
That’s actually a very nice advice! Thanks!
Yeah, forgot to mention, that I’m talking about dungeon runs.
That’s what I think too about Empower. Giving 10 stacks of might to zerk-guys is always a nice idea. And currently I’m always trying to switch to staff and use empower whenever possible.
But I’ve done some runs with other guardians and they tend to stick to GS whole fight. So I began to doubt my actions.
Should I use it during the fight itself? While it gives nice stacks of might to whole party, it locks me with low-dps staff for 7 seconds.
Maybe I should only use empower before the actual fight and switch to staff only when I need healing?
1. Go to mysts;
2. Find an empty server;
3. Join it with your opponent;
4. Duel as much as you want.
There is holy trinity in this game (for dungeons): Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer.
It’s actually just guardian+mesmer. Warrior is simply a dps-guys, and can be switched to any other profession. It’s just currently warriors are the best at this job.
Guardian+mesmer oth… Well, a lot of dungeon content is made easier by these two and it’s like anet actually designs encounters around having a guardian in a party.
Not to mention that these classes are also very strong in pvp, unlike the one-trick pony war.
He pinged 3 out of 13(14) pieces of equipment without traits. Surely, he had some points in toughness and vitality.
Not only that, it’s only one of four people. If all of them were really full zerk they could’ve actually kill stuff faster than going down (and insta rallying).
Berzerker gc will do. Really. Warriors have enough base hp to survive some hits and you need to train dodging agony anyways. Killing stuff faster is more of priority.
You can incorporate some knights pieces if you’re not 100%-confident (and this is what I do). But having more than average armour tends to attract all mobs to you (that and war’s higher damage), so it might actually lower your survivability.
Take axe instead of GS, so you’ll have mobility and rifle for those ranged fights and when you’re low on hp (but being a warrior you should actually carry all weapons with you and change them according to situation).
(edited by Isslair.4908)
people to discriminate against professions and reinforce a meta
But what if the game does this? Focusing too much on projectile reflection, bursts of damage and general favour of glass cannon over large hp pools and dedicated healers. Not to mention how drastically different is the damage that different professions can deal.
So please, stop this talk about “all classes are equal”. They are not atm. And players are free to prefer the most effective combinations to do PvE content.
Unlike real-word, everyone are more or less equal in MMOs and can stand up for themselves.
It’s not like we have a free PvP system with ascendent guys ganking noobs. Really, how can anyone bully you in GW2 unless you want it yourself =\
It’s funny how majority of players have no idea about harder PvE content and only cries about cof.
I wonder, will we ever see a post about current holy trinity of gw2 – guardian, mesmer, warrior.
There are always at least 2 people in my pug groups that are scared of the hammer.
Well, I don’t like to take hammer on my warrior because if I do it, then those p\v\t guys will have to spend ages killing cultists. I just can help charge up the hammer faster with mah axe.
No, i’m DM guardian who is currently leveling 40+ FotM and plays other classes too (DM title got with necro, puging) and who doesn’t care about CoF farming cause legendary is just grind now.
So why do you care ’bout cof farm then?
Farming arah?
![]()
Yea right
What’s wrong with that? Or are you a glass cannon unskilled player who can’t do anything outside of cof? Hmm.
What are better ways?
Manipulating the TP for a start. Speculating on ectos. Farming arah. Farming CoE. A lot of them.
Guardians are essential in grawl fractal.
With cultists you need to know the right strategy – ’tis all.
I’m not saying that everyone should be running in zerk gear, but if one can evade damage he’ll survive as a glass cannon too. Saying that you need p/v/t for it is kinda short-sighted.
How would a p\v\t gear help against maw kill beam, agony on 50+ or against a stack of gazillion cultists in cliffside? It won’t.
Block and dodge don’t scale on toughness or vitality.
The thing is, there are better ways to earn money than cof-grind. It’s just that cof-grind is easy and doesn’t require one to do much (aside from leveling+gearing war\mesmer).
It has nothing to do with warriors\mesmers. Anyone can have one.
The real question is “Should some people who spend a lot of time in-game be allowed to be richer than others?”. And when you look at it this way, you can see how ridiculous all this anti-cof thing is.
Well, from my experience in MMOs female player tend to attract overreaction from some players. Though I’ve seen only positive, none of that trash talking from the link.
But I can see why some girls might avoid openly stating their gender to stay away from unwanted attention. Some actually like it, oth.
1 day anet will Over buff COF p1, p2 and nobody will do it. All “handless” zerker warriors will start to cry bcoz they cant do anything in other dungeons/zones.
But then, we see a lot of ppl creating oceans of tears bcoz they cant make gold.
Will be funny.
Just wait.
I’m doing fractals, arah, coe and pretty much any dungeon in my zerker gear. What am I doing wrong man?
Speedrunners gonna speedrun, no matter what. And people who don’t want to work for their gold will continue to blame others on forums.
As for OP:
I kinda think you got lucky to leave that group. I mean there was clearly something wrong there. Not that I approve your remarks. And I agree on “be constructive or be silent”.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
In our 500-man guild I know 3 ladies and heard about one more. So yeah, you can see the trend.
If players are getting excluded from content because of their class then yes it is a problem and yes the designers will eventually take notice. This does apply to solo, sPvP, WvW, world events, and yes dungeons.
I’m okay with that. From design point of view this is wrong and will be fixed sometime. Nothing we can do about.
But I’m not okay with people hating on berz warriors\mesmers who exploit current state of the game, farm gold and don’t want to take leachers with them.
I wish it would protect from projectiles at least (reflect with trait?). Atm it’s not really worth using, better stick to mace in OH (or sword if you’re into that kind of things).
Oh yeah, that would be nice thing to fix.
Come to terms with the fact that sometimes you are better off cutting your losses and starting over rather than continuing through with a bunch of jerks.
Basically this.
One just needs to think for himself and act accordingly.
So you either just leave if you don’t like the party or stick with it no matter what. No point blaming others. It’s all in your hands.
Oh, and believe me, it’s not hypocrisy. We don’t want to do dungeons with your kind. Ever.
Your posts only confirm this. You clearly want to do cof runs, but don’t want to adapt to what party needs.
Because if you didn’t want to go to cof with speedrunners you’d be doing fractals or arah or coe or hotw, etc. This thread only means that YOU want everyone to adapt to your playstyle.
The real argument is this: "I want to do CoF [for whatever reason], but I’m not a Berzerker warrior/Guardian/Mesmer and so am being excluded or kicked from groups.
So.. roll a warrior/guardian/mesmer? It’s easy to fix.
Don’t want to? Find it too hard? Create your own party. Everyone can make a post on gw2lfg, not only berz warriors.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
But I know people who use Berserker’s following group-think, and are bad at them, especially outside CoF 1 (they made them to farm it exclusively, and assume the remaining game aspects will be easy too.)
The thing is you don’t have to go to dungeons with them. They are not a problem outside of cof p1 farm. So why care if they are bad in arah or fractals? They can do p1 run in 6 mins, it’s all there is to it.
Most of dungeon runners I know, do both cof and other “high tier” dungeons. Going to cof doesn’t make you bad.
Also, as I said, they should do stuff their way, but leave others alone
Oh, but they are!
It’s the “others” who want to do dungeon runs with them, not the other way around. It’s like a huge hypocrisy “i wanna do speedruns for gold, but i don’t wanna have optimal build”.
some of these players feel “superior”, and call other “baddies” and “noobs” for not playing the way they play
Yup – this is bad and I agree. There’s nothing in cof p1 farm that makes you a better player. But as I said, one doesn’t have to join these parties. Start your own LFG or play with friends. Too hard? Do you want to simply join a 4\5 party on lfg-site? Well, adapt then.
I also believe CoF 1 shouldn’t be the only “easy” way to acquire money, so IMHO, it’s best if more ways are added or it’s nerfed so people can’t do it that fast anymore-on par with most other Dungeon paths.
That’s ok too. But that’s a problem of the game, not of players. Flaming cof runners for doing it and in the most efficient way is really, really wrong.
Star Ace
Have you read the OP? The point of this thread is not “berz warriors too stronk”, but “i wanna farm cof, but no one takes me with them”.
Really dude, why no one reads what the thread is about and only answers to some random post.
As for other things – I’m not one of those “leet farmers”, and I do all of the game dungeons. But I can understand them. The thing about “doing dungeons the way you want” should work both ways.
I can’t wait for the warrior nerf. It’s going to be entertaining as hell.
You know thats never gonna happen.
The thing is, people who do speedruns will just switch to new OP profession and won’t have any problems actually. While all the forum whiners will contnue to post all this “OP class X!!11” threads.
RageQuit
I was referring to OP.
Personally, I’m ok with cof berz warriors, cause like you said it’s the best tool for the job atm.
I just don’t understand people who want to exploit current cof situation without actually making a warrior\mesmer and buying best gear for it.
So… don’t farm cof?
I mean really, you want to jump on the cof farmtrain and don’t want to work for it.
Outside of cof p1 no one really pays any attention to classes, only that you need like 1 guard in fractals.
Well since TP is already browser-like, they can incorporate gw2lfg into it.
7. Axe Mastery: -20% cooldown, +50% benefit from vulnerable conditions on foe
Wat? That’s like the most OP trait for PvE.
The problem with dungeon finder in GW2 is that developers say that GW2 don’t have roles. Yet from actual game whe all know, how nice it is to have some heavies to tank, at least one guardian to do his support thingie (hellou fractals) and how different is DPS of different professions.
So if Anet would implement dungeon finder it would just make parties with random people, not paying attention to current state of meta game. Like making a 5-ranger party.
At least on lfg site we can choose ourselves how to compose our parties.
Also P1 added confusion to the King, and I loath that condition…
He had confusion before too. Most people just died in 1 hit and couldn’t notice it.
Well, it’s a start of a long-term project to revamp dungeons. After it is done, AC might be again the easiest one of them all.
Finally did the new AC lol.
While our party managed to do it quite easy even without full lvl-80 party, I can see why people don’t do it anymore. It became faster, but boss fights require some experience and coordination.
While I’m ok with every dungeon having such a transformation, it can become a trouble for pugs.
Is this “3235” an average damage per second or what?
And what is this “1612” damage on bleeding shot? Over some period of time?
A little explanation please.
Even so, a lot of people like to think they’re better than they are (including myself at times, lol).
I have the opposite problem and never join LFG-parties who’re looking for experienced people.
Though I’ve witnessed a lot how all those “experienced dungeon masters” do stupid stuff and die much like meself.
What frustrates me the most in lfg parties is how stupidly sheepish they can be. For example, I’m doing my daily on a low-level alt, then I see a lfg for dungeon I want to join. I join them and get insta-kicked, even before I can type “hi, lemme switch to my main”. I mean wtf, why would I join a run if I didn’t have a lvl 80?! And even if I’d do that, they could ask do I have a lvl 80. C’mon, everyone has a lvl 80 already.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
For example, adding +12% crit damage to +85% crit damage results in an increase of ~5.1% critical hit damage, [ 12 / ( 85 + 150 ) ] x 100% = 5.1%.
Yeah, figured as much. Thx for explanation anyways.
There is the 5% more damage while under the effect of might. I’m sure that pretty much evens out the loss in crit dmg or may even surpass it. So now the problem is if that 6th bonus is bugged anot.
Since in DPS-spec you’ll be doing mostly crit dmg, that +12% crit damage equals +12% to overall damage. And that is greater than +5% from strength runes.
And I kinda don’t see a point in going for damage for tanky warriors who don’t have high enough crit chance. You may as well go for soldier’s runes for extra condition removal.
All of the above from PVE point of view.
EDIT:
Nvm.
After some testing I think RoS gives more damage. Oh well, nice to know. Inb4 rune of strength price inflation.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
With Ruby orbs you’ll have +12% crit damage, which is higher than +5% from ros. If you’re dps-specced you’ll have high crit chance. Easy math.
You get perma fury with FGJ and SoR with signet recharge trait. No point going for boon duration just for fury. And with lots of warriors\guardians in party you’ll have 25 stacks of might anyway.
So yeah, I feel like going Ruby Orbs is one of the best dps-options. And i don’t think you need lyssa in pve.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
unique RNG drops
Please no.
We already have a horrible situation with precursor market. You should get reward for your skill (yes, speedruning takes skill), not for luck and mindles repetition.
Speedruns are better than no runs at all.
If they guaranteed a rare in every large chest, all dungeons would be run a lot more.
A nice idea, actually. Much like the world bosses change.
A daily account bound bonus chest per dungeon path would stimulate a lot of people to run some long-forgotten dungeons.
It’s called “LFM CoF P1 speedrun farming, 4 zerk warriors 1 mesmer, link your gear!”
Outside of cof, you just need to swap 1 warrior for tanky\supportish guardian.
Yeah, it happens sometimes. I usually end up behind the target, which is kinda stupid.
Yeah, that’s what I’ve meant.
Even if anet will destroy every single viable build for engi there will be still stubborn people who’ll just say “Engi is fine”, “I’m proud to be the minority”, “Mainstream sucks, nerf us more”, “Versatility!!11one”.
That’s why I’ve stopped reading this forums.
