Whenever I see a thief being 1-shoted by some aoe, I thank my armor. Surely, you can’t be a real tank in GW2 (unless you’re some AH guardian with focus), but damage mitigation gives a noticeable survival boost nevertheless.
I’ve moved to my warrior\guardian\thief alts. The only use for my engi is farming cs with FT.
I wonder, will there ever be some fix. We can all thank the “Engi is fine” crowd for making engi even worse.
Solo zone 1 with each of your alts every day. Easy, boring, not very fast.
Saw a couple of such thieves in spvp today.
Well, they can’t kinda kill you, IF you are careful. But kitten they’re so annoying and dodgy. I don’t think random pug can catch them.
Yup, carrying everything with me. Except for greatsword, cause I don’t use them.
Nope.
I don’t play game enough to justify a subscription.
Well, I’m kinda ok with current system.
But what frustrates me is the amount of special effects we have in this game. I mean if we are to dodge attacks by watching the animation, then why do 95% of skills transfrom the monster into a ball of firery fx. Even on minimal graphics I can’t see where the boss is looking most of the time.
Anet should do something about it.
Same bug here. I hope I’ll get those laurels.
You don’t need a level 35 to slow down your team. I’ve encountered enough players, regardless of level, that do that well enough.
So what’s the point in talking about bad players at all? They’ll be bad regardless of level. And even then lvl 80 gives him chanse to survive the mistake.
The only argument all these leacher-defenders are using is that low levels are super-skilled pros and all the lvl 80s are bad braindead people.
This is really ridiculous.
And if they can’t correctly play their level 80, I’d prefer they come with something they are more comfortable with.
Now this is such a strawman.
If one can’t play correctly on a lvl 80 character with hundred hours of gameplay, he won’t be able to play on a low level character with no traits, skills and experience.
I can guarantee that many that run low level charas in dungeons are more skilled than a good number of geared 80s. Just recently I ran AC and saw a level 35 or so engineer outperform a level 80 warrior. I’d take that engineer over that warrior every time. It is not level or class that matters. It is skill.
Again:
If a player at level 35 plays good, he’ll be even better on a lvl 80 character. That’s not arguable.
So a player who goes to dungeon on a low-level character is slacking, no matter HOW he plays. Slowing the progress of the party while recieving full rewards = leeching.
It’s all quite obvious.
And I’m really tired of all this “low levels are skilled, high level are unskilled” crap. Really? Skill ceiling in most dungeons is exceptionally low. But lvl 80 exotics allows player to make mistakes without going down immediately (and everyone makes mistakes sooner or later) and gives more damage to make the run faster.
Yeah, I wonder why people are trying to get into AC at level 30 or 35, when they are given an invitation to do just that, by the game. Yeah, what slackers.
So join an all-35 party and do dungeons at level. No one will kick you from that.
The problem is when low-levels try to join a level 80 party and expect people to carry them.
Quite a lot of leachers in this thread. Lol. Concerned about people awareness of their misdeeds.
Not to talk about these 5 signet level 80 warriors who run in AC like a boss and die to every trap and mob about 10 times. Their level 80 doesn’t help crap if they dont understand the dungeon mechanics.
And they would be even worse on lvl 35+. I don’t think you’ll argue that.
The amount of mobs doesn’t matter if their health is low. Aoe counters this pretty good.
And ofc I’m talking about the proper way of dealing with this part – killing all of the mobs, not kiting and dying and ressing.
By saying this you are saying that all sub-80 are unskilled and cannot hold their own. That is patently untrue. Can they do as much as a optimally traited and exotic geared version that knows what they are doing? No, they cannot. But a skilled player on a sub-80 can still contribute greatly provided they know what they are doing.
But the thing is – if they’re skilled, they will do more on their lvl 80-s then on their low levels. If they’re not skilled they’ll have more margin of error on lvl 80 in full exotics.
It’s very simple logic.
Why would I want to run a dungeon with person who deliberately hinders himself?
Changing to alt on the last boss is a legit way to level alts. Leaching as a low level in lvl 80 party is not.
Before those mobs were silver ones. Now they’re just regular mobs who die in two hits.
New version is really easy. And I’m yet to fail there, though I only do it with guild parties.
Stablity+AOE+awareness = win.
The difference between lvl 80 in full exotics and low-level alt in levelling crap-gear is huge. Don’t even try to argue that.
Not to mention that those “highly skilled” alts try to play the same way they play on lvl 80 and fail horribly diying in one hit from boss, whom a lvl 80 can tank for several minutes.
Alt slackers are akin to MF-leachers, trying to use other people for personal gain. One of the worst kind of behaviour there is.
Maybe people dont want to feel like a twink lvl service.
Pretty much this.
It wouldn’t matter if you were humans defending the city, the end result is going to be: “retreat to save yourselves or die in a blaze of glory”.
Yeah, because this whole Ascalon fractal is really stupid.
Not only it is racist against humans, it also forces itself on player.
You’re suddenly transformed into a charr and forced to kill innocent kinsmen (not some crazed monsters or corrupted beings). It’s really horrible from any point of view.
I also find it odd that you forgot the strange fractal which looks somewhat like a Rata Sum-like structure having been left in ruins.
What of it? Harpies are just generic mobs. A single raving asura who doesn’t even die in the end? Really?
“You’re beating up on humans because the game hates humans. Therefore this is proof that the game hates humans, because you are beating up on humans.”
There are TWO fractals devoted solely to killing humans. There are NONE fractals devoted to killing any other playable races (corrupted norns are basically risen, so one can’t count that).
Plain and simple.
The main mentor is a charr
Yeah, kinda proves my point.
Humans, of all races, have the least screen time in GW2. And the most they can hope to be – is some random lionsguard dying to risen mob on Claw Island.
Ascalonians lose. They will always lose.
The problem is – it’s the only place in a game where we’re forced to join one single race and kill another race. And coincidently it’s humans we’re up against.
Are there fractals where you’re transformed into humans to kill charr? Exactly.
And no – norns don’t count cause they’re already corrupted and that’s like killing risen.
Cliffside, you’re killing cultists, isn’t that so?
They’re humans. I wouldn’t say anything if there were other races among cultists. Are there? No, cause this game is explicitly anti-huamn.
And I don’t care ‘bout gw1, we’re talking about GW2 here.
all of them
Nope they’re ain’t. Others are a regular heroes with some drama prblems. Logan is a deliberate joke from anet, see “Retreat” and “Save Yourselves!”.
And humans do have presence in story missions
Granted, I haven’t finished the Whispers story yet, but in Priory and Vigil all I see are norns, charrs, sylvari, asuras. No humans with some actual dialogue lines and significant roles.
Vigil – it’s about charr and norns. Priory – sylvari and asuras all the way (with some strange charrs added in). “All races together” mah kitten.
Most of the people who are in the Order’s higher ranks are human. They also manage to be effective and useful.
Not in a meaningful way. In actual story missions it’s all about charr tanks, asuran demolitionists, sylvari scouts and norn hunters.

Humans just aren’t the center of the continent ..
It’s not about center. It’s about the whole attitude.
Ascalonian fractal – we kill humans, cliffside – we kill humans, who is the “failed” member of Destiny’s Edge – human, which race has virtually no presence in story missions – yup humans, etc.
I can understand the wish to stay away from the standard human-centric worlds in fantasy. But anet overdid it. By a lot.
I’d really love to have something akin to Ascalonian fractal, but from humans point of view. Currently the anti-human racism in this game really irritates me.
Those two things are not exclusive. Non-elitists would know that.
Besides, Warriors haven’t had to try hard since release, yet they are always welcome. This is because your logic is flawed. It’s the professions who don’t have to try hard who are most in demand. Those that do are not welcome. Lazy players want an easy ride and they’ll kick without conscience, to ensure they work as little as possible for their reward.
Trying hard as in “trying to get the best clearing time, highest DPS and survaviability”. That’s where you have to choose a profession that has it, instead of a profession you would like to play.
I do agree that classes in this game are highly unbalanced. But it just proves my point.
And no, warriors aren’t easy mode if you actually play them correctly. Not like “hurr durr 100b cof speedrun whole day”.
Trying to get a good profession composition in a party is a legit way to play. Create your own parties if that’s not to your liking. No point flaming people just because they don’t want to carry you while you’re playing “your way”.
Never seen this happen.
And this coming from ex-engi who thinks engi is a worthless class currently. PUGs rarely display elitism. Unless it’s a CoF speedrun where it’s obvious who is better.
You are more likely to find it in pre-made groups of determined players who expect others to try hard instead of simply “playing the profession I wanna play”.
Soon ppl will say only noobs run FGJ:P
And if you have sig of rage? “kitten l2p or go die now n00b”
5sig – noob war
fgj – noob war
banners – noob warLets all run Kick, Stomp and Bolas in open pve and dungeons:)
Why would they?
5 signets wars are bad, true. But evrything else is party-oriented. And pretty much effective.

The only hard part in grawl fractal are the adds. Those fire elementals hit too hard for a regular mobs on higher levels. When a critical number of them hit you at the same time it’s just one-hit down. And at the same time you can’t dodge ‘cause you’re immobilized.
On the other hand without adds he’ll be kinda faceroll. A tricky one to balance.
Cliffside is easy to fix – just reset acolytes properly on wipe during hands seals.
I even don’t know what can substitute FGJ in PvE. It’s not only great for parties, it’s great for solo too.
Might has a cap of 25. That’s really easy to get from party buffs without any GS traits.
This overgrown weed clearly has no place in Pact leadership. That was a HUGE miss from Anet. Advisor on Orrian history – ok. Military leader – are you kidding me?
The only way to redeem for him would be to sacrifice himself in order to destroy the dragon. But yeah >_>
How about no.
Find friends\guild that don’t want to skip mobs and do dungeons with them.
/thread
I run with axe+mace\axe as off-hands. And feel really comfortable that way.
GS is nice weapon, but it is:
1) Overused. I don’t want to be yet another GS warrior, rolled to farm cof;
2) HB is kinda hard to use in a lot of situations (not to mention that it looks really stupid – swinging a heavy 2h sword like that) and gets you vulnerable.
Also GS damage is deceptive. You get a lot of it as a burst from HB, but over time it’s not that much. Though a lot of warriors use GS just because they like to see big numbers on screen and don’t care about the sustained DPS.
Skritt. I’d get all the shinies! Yes-yes!
It’s funny how many fractal players actually don’t have a clue ’bout boss mechanics there. Oh the irony.
I think the only stat worth showing publicly is AR. Everything else can remain hidden.
I’ve never asked someone to link their gear, nor will I ever do such a thing meself (unless in fractals to proof your AR).
I kinda want a flying mount. Maybe even a small dragon. Just to troll the mount-haters.
They’re so intense about it. Lol.
You basically described CS right now.
The amount of mobs in some places is really stupid. It is doable by lvl 80 people using lots of shortcuts and exploits. But it’s kinda too much for a lvl 45 dungeon.
Oh my! An MMO that requires communication and teamwork! Nerf nao plz.
Yes you get really thick people sometimes. But mostly it’s ok. Add good people to friendlist and do fractals with them. Or join a nice guild. I almost always pug in fractals and have finished in like 98% of runs.
Oh look! This PuG group killed the bosses without me!
It’s actually the other way around most of the time. Random people lie around dead, while me and some friends finish the boss.
The amount of people in this game who don’t want to learn is terribly high. I don’t mind new people – it’s ok to explain things first time. But when you’re doing lvl 20 fractals and people have NO CLUE of boss mechanics it’s just dumb. It’s as if people are kitten in some way.
So until such clearly stupid dungeoneers exist, none of the “blame the elitists!” posts are valid. Until every non-first time PUG player will at least know the boss mechanics (and I don’t say succeed in dodging every time, mistakes happen, just don’t do dumb things like making lupicus reset etc.) and the dungeon route, I have every right to remain “elitist”.

Use tokens to buy weapons to waste into MF. Endgame!
Blueshield,
The thing is he targeted me with birds while atacking other players. That’s the problem.
I was engi, I never actually grabbed direct aggro, yet every bird flock was targeted at me (unless I was already downed).
If he used birds on whoever has the aggro – that would be fine too I guess. But currently (well at least it was so in early january) he has some other mechanics to pick targets for birds, separate from his aggro mechanic.
Since one can buy in-game gold with real money, the supply of in-game gold to continue doing this is potentially limitless, assuming the aforementioned person chooses to spend their real-life money on gaming money.
Well, people who can control the precursors market have other sources of income on TP. Precursors are just a side project, so they don’t actually loose a lot when buying out cheap ones. It’s not a “gamble” like some say. it’s an investement.
Since it isn’t likely that precursors will become less rare, which would naturally drive the price down, people would simply have to stop buying precursors on the TP altogether so our monopoly holder wouldn’t be able to get a return on their investment.
As long as it is profitable to craft legendaries to sell them on TP there will be people who buy precursors. That’s the problem. Rich people struggle with each other for TP profits, while average player suffer and don’t have any actual control over the prices.
The birds are the only hard part about this boss. Everything else you can kite\dodge.
But when he actively uses birds on you only during the whole fight (which happened to me) it basically means you’re going down. Sure people can kinda easily ress you, but the whole mechanics of this skill is very bad and dumb. It should at least have a longer CD and have a random targeting.
The thing I don’t understand is why we have downscaling, but don’t have upscaling.
It’s just stupid. Why the enemies, even the stupid wolves and moas, can grow in power compared to player, but a player is always scaled back to the mobs level. It’s so stupid.
Also, people need to speak up if they dont know.
Actually happened to me.
Had a player in one run who clearly had NO clue what to do in a dungeon. And he never said a word about it.
So when we told him, he should say beforehand that he’s not experienced, so we could explain things to him, he confessed that he was afraid of people kicking him for being a novice.
But the thing is – if you say it’s your first time most people are more than ready to explain stuff. And if you just go in and do badly – you’re more likely to get kicked without explanation.
The reason of precursors inflating so high is the new trend of selling legendaries.
When it just started a lot of people quickly completed their legendaries by buying stuff from the TP and then selling legendary for profit. It actually got to a point where making a legendary only cost SP, karma and map completion – you could buy mats and precrsors from TP and still have profit from selling legendary.
Now one kind of market manipulators are trying to make profit off other kind that are making buisness with legendaries. The average player is stuck between and suffers.
Heal on crit food – it’s your friend. Also that’s why PVT gear is bad, go for Power\Precision\Toughness to be tanky.
And don’t be shy to disengage, kite and dodge. Light classes can and should be able to survive some hits, giving you time to heal up.
I just don’t know what’s the point of running AC without Kholer/Troll. Useless tokens? Alt levelling?
You don’t make any sense. If these people lose gold on “manipulating”, they’re actually not manipulating. I really don’t get what you’re trying to prove here but whatever it is, your arguments doesn’t hold water.
So you’re actually don’t understand how people “play” on TP. Or you do and just pretending.
Either way, there’s no point discussing this matter with you further.
What really happens is more like a fraud and has no relation to the theoretical “market economy”.
In the real world, prices are set by supply and demand.
Yup. Another proof of my theory.
It is only in imaginary theoretical ideal “free market” such a thing can exist.
Nor the reality, nor the game is ruled by this.
Seems you’re kinda don’t have the necessary knowledge to assess the situation or you’re just playing dumb. Either way, I’m gonna ignore you in this thread from now on.
To think of it, I actually want a paladin with guns. Would be kitten.
Too bad most companies are too fixated on “generic fantasy” and can’t be bothered with original concepts.
