It would be nice if every profession would have its unique conditions stacks. So you won’t override necro’s bleeds with your warrior etc.
The stack caps will still be there, but now classes would not interfere with each other.
Engineers.
Humans are always about adaptation and stealing charr weapons to use it against them is very human-ish.
Well, since burning doesn’t stack intensity like bleeds, chances are your burns will be overriden by direct damage guard\ele\engi. So it’s not that good unless you have a specific party composition.
Whats the point of comparing a good engi vs bad 5-signet wariors in PvE?
This is the worst logic possible.
Lets compare engi to a pro support guardian, who can heal, tank, give lots of buffs to the team and still deal dps like a berserker engi.
Lets compare engi to a pro mesmer, who can help the party melt bosses with quickness, while giving everyone aegis, chaos armor and tanking with clones.
Lets compare engi with pro warrior, who uses heal-on-crit food with full zerker gear to solo arah.
Please, remove your pink glasses. There’s no place for engi in high-end PvE parties. Well, unless you want to leach, while contributing far less than everyone else. And no, low-skill parties don’t count.
Yeah, necro has some minor issues, but it is a well designed class with clear roles. The amount of utility a decent necro brings to a party is pretty high. Can’t compare it to engi in PvE.
As to people who say that they are doing good in dungeons, I advice to try other classes to see how much damage or healing they can bring compared to engi. It’s not the matter of playing your favorite class, it’s the matter of being a dick and being a fifth wheel.
Yeah, give us a precursor for the end of storyline. Legendaries still have a lot grinding beside that.
Playing my warrior, leveling guardian. And boy you DO feel the difference between engi and a finished and well-designed class.
My engi now waits for some reworks from Anet.
Currently we have food that gives us a chance to restore health on crit. This lets us abuse high-crit glass cannon builds to be ultimate damage source in dungeons, while still having a lot of survaviability.
So yeah, warrior is very good PvE-wise.
The other dungeons can be opened up by about 8 people (1.5 parties worth).
You can open CoF with like three people.
But yeah, those pre-events are really boring and tiresome. Maybe they’re prventing people from farming one path over and over, but for people who just run p 1 nd 2 daily it’s just a chore. The whole event takes almost the same time as one dungeon run.
But… why?
Unless you’re a glass cannon DPS, to be a usefull addition to a group one needs to do one of this:
a) Grab the aggro of boss and survive it during whole fight, to let glass cannons do their work;
b) Provide a steady amount of healing to melee guys, while not restricting their movement.
And ALSO everyone should be doing damage. That’s the core concept of GW2 dungeons – everyone’s DPS along with their other functions in a party.
The problem with current engi in this regard is that we have a low dmg in PvE. You need to spec into glass cannon and lob grenades or use SD if you’re lazy. Otherwise, you’ll be a liability.
If you try to go tanky on engi you’ll lose a lot of your damage, that’s a fact. But you’ll never be as tanky as guardian, or even a tank-specced warrior. So the question still stands – why would you do that?
(edited by Isslair.4908)
He’s a scholar not a military general.
That’s exactly the problem.
He should be a scholar and advisor on Orr matters, not military commander of Pact forces.
That’s one of the most stupid plot twists in the whole history of game industry.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
The difference is that with ele you can actually achieve results for working hard.
With engi all that hard work gives almost no returns.
The problem with tanky engi is that there’s no way for us to grab aggro.
Not enough toughness, no damage, no constant AOE healing. Boss will never be interested in you as long as there some heavies around.
The only really viable tanky class is currently guardian, who can still deal damage and heal while tanking. All others should aim for glass cannon with lots of dodging.

Really nice video!
I’ve always wondered if this is possible. But since most people treat the usual cof run as some kind of religious ritual, they didn’t even know how to do things differently.
It depends on rewards.
If it will be like the current exp dungeons, but harder then no one will do them.
On the other hand, if this dungeons will give unique rewards and would require a total dedication from player to complete – could be interesting.
Elementalist. They are also considered underpowered.
Lolwhat?
D\D eles are one of the most OP pvp professions.
Every high-end dungeon runner I know loves to have ele in a party.
Their versatility is awesome. I’ve never seen anyone saying that ele is underpowered.
Sure, I’ve seen a lot of useless eles in PUGs. But that just means that a skill ceiling for that class is rather high.
Go play your “easy mode” warrior and thief.
Actually, I push a lot more buttons on my warrior, than I did on my grenade engi. Also I need to time the skills right. Not just faceroll during my grenade rotation.
Doesn’t change the fact, that a lot more tankier warrior deals a lot more damage.
One thing I do miss about the Trinity was the reality.
Take for example real (as can be) battles, it’s hollywood but go watch Braveheart…
How many healers did you see in Braveheart lol.
You can’t compare any game system to reality, it’s just wrong.
If you can’t see him – thats culling issue, not the thief’s.
But you CAN attack him. Press tab, whack away.
As for aggro, a large part of the calculation is proximity and armor rating.
The thing is, I’m geared for damage so not a lot of toughness. And also I always try to abuse my 1500 range. So it’s not about it.
Granted, this happens mostly in “bad” parties that are clueless and deal no damage.
I carry groups through dungeons.
You a free to continue believing in your illusions. I just hope to never have the likes of you in my party.
Interesting for healers? You mean clicking buttons in Healbot overlay?
Interesting for tanks? You mean pushing macroses and kiting bosses the same way as we do it in GW2.
Really, after playing GW2 I’d never return to the stale and old trinity-like boredom.
Boss fights could use some creative design though. Can’t argue that.
Best i can tell, the major issue with thief stealth is culling.
And it’s not a probem of thieves or stealth.
Yet in every single MMO with stealth it’s the same old story. “If I can’t see it – it must be OP”.
I’ll get maybe 10 feet before the thief is on top of me again, with the thief back at nearly full health.
If the thief is at full health, so are you. I can’t see the problem. Unless you decided to kill some mobs while he is healing.
And no I don’t play thief. But players who prefer to blame the game instead of changing their playstyle really annoy me.
Because you don’t get back your advanced crafting materials while salvaging, only some raw stuff.
They’ll just reset the fight and come back to finish me off once they’ve forced me to use up everything I have just staying alive.
So you basically won the fight. Thief runs away. And you, knowing that he will return still decide to stay and wait for him and give him another advantage?
Why not run to your zerg, to the keep. simply run away. That’s clearly not a thief fault.
As to your second point of being strong in WvW. I’ve done my monthly (50 kills) on my underleveled warrior and died like two times due to culling issues.
Does it mean warrior is OP? No. Does it mean I have great skill? No. It means that average WvW player is really bad. In some cases I felt like I was fighting a mob, same running around in circles just out of reach. And that’s what thieves are made for, to punish loners and bad players.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
All I see are people complaining that it takes far more skill to avoid being two-shotted by a thief than to two-shot people as a thief.
Putting on some Pow\vit\toughness gear is not “skill”. It’s just, you know, gearing.
Saying that thief can 2-shot is like saying that you are always dying to warrior’s HB. Do you?
And you NEED to adopt your skills and build to counter different professions.
Necro or mesmer? Better have a lot of condition removal.
Engi? Stability or bust.
Warrior? I hope you can clear those roots.
Etc., etc.
So why thief should be different. If you have a glass cannon build that two-shots almost any other professions, why shouldn’t you be vulnerable to stealthy thief?
All I can see on the forums is people complaining on how you can’t kill a thief when he is fleeing from you.
Think about it. Can you really call OP a class that runs away from you?
Thieves are only dangerous to glass cannons – and they are designed to counter them ya know.
If you have some survaivability you can outlast thief easily. Hence thieves escaping with stealth.
I don’t see a problem here.
Grenades are still the best DPS we can bring to dungeon. Don’t be fooled.
Some sigils, some might stacking and it will give you a nice AOE damage. Sometimes I even grab the aggro (woot).
FT is a joke. Please don’t use it in dungeons.
Taking a kit means trading it for a utility skill. And in return we get a rather bad toolbelt skill (and yeah they are bad, utility skills a meant to provide utility not to be one of the damage sources) and ability to swap weapons. The same ability all other professions get for free (!) and eles even have 4 weapon sets.
And changing to a kit don’t change your role. Just makes you do it better (grenades) or worse (FT, elixir gun, bombs). It’s not versatility. It’s just the same kitten with different model. You can’t even compare it to attunement change of elementalists.
Yes, in 1 setup you can have shield/pistol(up close fighting), flamethrower(AoE damage when attacking), elixir gun(for support with slow downs and heals) and nades.(for support and damage).. that’s 4 different roles without having to do anything other then slot those skills and then press them when you want them.
…Without any utility skills like stun-breakers, invulnerability and stuff. Yeah, way to go.
I wonder if some people on forums actually play the game or only imagine things from skill-builder sites. =\
Because finishing the last boss in 7 minutes is sooooo much more draining than finishing him in 5.
Yes, spending 40% more time on a dungeon run is really big.
To avoid the leechers and other nuisances which are inevitable in MMO communities, I stick mostly to guild groups or people on my friend list.
So, if you are doing your dungeons with guildies and friends, why do you worry about “elitism”? Friends won’t kick you for slacking, won’t they?
But for people who rely on PUGs, inspect feature and\or partywide DPS-meter are desperately needed.
I don’t understand why people are so against “elitism” but don’t have any issues with leachers.
Unless it’s the leachers themselves who object DPS-meters and inspect features.
Fine. But a player’s DPS should be visible to the player ONLY.
Would be nice to get this feature even in such form. Though the issue of MF leachers need to be dealt with.
The purpose of the DPS-meter is not to see big numbers from punching dummies. It is used to creat a long-term picture of damage dynamics during the real fight.
I.e. you can see a very big numbers by doing HB on dummies. But in the real dungeon being rooted in one place is quite dangerous, so you’ll use your HB skill far less often. Hence we need to know how will it affect our overall DPS during that boss fight.
It is a really handy tool for optimization.
The trinity is not about being “tank” or “healer”. t’s about having specifig roles in party that you need to succesfully play the game.
As of now you need some heavy survaviability classes to complete high-end PvE content. You need some supportive healing and boon generation. You also need a lot of DPS, because most champions and bosses have ridiculous amount of hp. And some professions fit naturally into this meta. While others are kinda out of place and feel almost useless.
Aggro meter is not really nedded.
But DPS-meter? Please yes.
Currently all weapon and builds comparisons are very subjective. We need a way to get hard data. Also this will help those people who want to play effectively. And also will help to identify MF leachers.
In real life you can one-shot stuff.
Since evrything in GW2 has kittenload of hp and CC, we need to kite.
nobody forces you into a glass cannon build
If you don’t care about efficiency, then yeah. You can randomly choose your traits and clear ac for several hours. But that’s not the point of this thread.
No problems with elixir S on my ’umie. I guess its asure problem after all.
Yeah, there’s no LF tank\healer stuff in GW2.
Instead we have LF for guardian\warrior. All high-end dungeons are kinda demanding for heavy classes. And you still need to have some tanks, supporters and DPS to clear those dungeons and make speedruns (and I mean speedruns, not the regular PUG crawling) of ac\cof.
So there is a contradictin all right. Anet haven’t succeded in making all professions equal in PvE. Some can be universal tank\healer\dps guardians, others can only go for glass-canon DPS and still be outshined by warrior.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
Dredge are ok most of the time. It’s just sometimes people have no idea what to do at switches. They just rush it, and die very quickly. With most PUGs it always takes two tries to acually pass the cage part.
Grawl is the worst though. A lot of PUGs can’t do last boss at 20+.
If you REALLY want to group up a bunch of stunning mobs, bring some stability.
Well, for example engineers don’t have a reliable way to get stability. And they have a lot of AoE damage and thy need to kite mobs, so it tends to drag more mobs into fight.
Really, people who don’t understand that the game is not revolving around warrior\guardian are kinda frustrating. They ruin every thread with their “meh just faceroll pve is easy” posts.
Well Eir has the most revealing “chainmail bikini”. No wonder everyone thinks she’s a hottie.
There was this Asari assassin type during the Orr part of my Order of Whispers story line. Found her adorable. She was a sub main for your story, not just some random npc.
I guess I know who you are talking about. And yeah, she’s so cutie and adorable.
It’s time to change Orr once and for all.
There’s no sense in so many Risen, while their master is gone. Let’s just officialy anounce that Zhaitan is defeated and clear up the zone a little.
Try rolling an engineer. Then talk about all this "use stability hurr " kitten.
The real problem are not the brutes. They have a constant cripple anyways. But fearing, pulling and immobilizing mobs are a problem.
Try to swim into underwater Inquest lab in Orr. Then tell us how you dodge and break stun against all that perma CC.
I’m not saying it’s not doable. I have soloed Orr exploration, so you can do it. But it doesn’t mean it’s fine.
Taking away the controls was always considered a bad game design. Always. And in GW2 a 5 seconds stun from mobs is around every corner. Anet really should do something about it.
Like make toughness also decrease stun duration in PvE or something.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
We miss warpriests. Healbots in heavy armor with massive warhammers. Every game needs one.
Depends what you call an endgame.
Farming Cursed Shore? Sure, nice AOE tagging does the trick.
PUG-runs of AC? Yeah, doable. You can even be better than some of those random derpers.
Arah, cof speedruns, fractals 10+ with organized groups? You’re pushing it. Need to do everything you can to keep up with other professions.
In the end you’ll be nothing more than a sub-par necro substitute. Let’s hope our finest our is still in future.
I want power armor!
Chainswords, jetpacks, bolters.
Praise the Omnissiah!
