I’m glad I bought my greatsaw before all this inflation =P
It’s not only about crit chance, which is low. I mean 30% crit dmg?
How will F3 help if you’re in melee range and need to dodge?
It basically kinda forces rangers to go ranged, and being ranged makes you suck at gw2 pve.
Maybe anet should just give pets the ability to dodge, at the same time as the ranger for example.
But you dont count the +15% damage and +15% crit chance from adrenaline.
It’s not twice as much, but it is noticeably higher.
You also seem to assume that warrior has 100% bonus crit damage, while base crit dmg for zerk war is 122% witx axe\mace(axe) or 111% with gs.

Hello!
Currently I’m looking for a good pve\wvw guild with stable online and daily dungeon runs.
My main is a warrior, and I also have 3 other lvl 80 characters. I have done all the dungeons, esp. quite alot of arah. Not much experience in WvW though.
I mostly like to do dungeons and also interested in wvw raids with competent commander. So I’m looking for a guild on eu servers, that has the same interests. I can transfer to any high population server if needed.
I’m playing mostly at evening\night CET and prefer a guild with similar online.
Thanks!
Well, for me it’s more about the players who still play rangers atm.
Because, it seems, all the people who like to optimize builds and do their best switched to war\guard\mes long time ago. And now like 95% of rangers are those horrible bearbow rangers, who are next to useless in a dungeon.
I keep hearing about useful rangers, with swords and buffs and stuff like that. But in reality all I see in dungeon pugs is same old longbow+bear in tanky gear spamming #1 in far end of the room.
Don’t really know where to put this thread. So might as well do it here)
Can someone advise me on a good EU server with active evening-late night dungeon community?
I’m currently at AG and I’m really frustrated from having to pug dungeons despite being in one of the largest server guilds. It’s either people don’t want to do harder paths, content with champ trains, or are already in constant groups.
So kinda looking to change servers atm. Any information would be nice)
I really want a viable dps double pistols for warrior. Want to see dat gunslinger.
Engi MH torch would be nice, and it fits the theme.
Warhorn for guardians is a good idea.
MH sword for ele.
MH and OH maces for thief. Blackjack action!
“I don’t want to make money like other people do, I wanna make everyone grind things I like” – pretty much sums the OP.
A 100% way to get the precursor should be implemented – dats true. And it is planned.
But everything else is quite affordable. Well, only sPvP players are screwed.

The worst thing is when you get a guy from sp\de\fr server who doesn’t speak english at all AND doesn’t know the dungeon. It’s just … ugh. I try to use lfg site instead, cause it tends to bring better results.
So can you actually kill her by attrition, just quickly doing the sparks and without the dps? Cause i always thought she’ll just heal up indefinitely if you can’t burn her down fast enough.
We usually bring sparks quite quickly, but we always try to have full zerk dps party.
Teq on the other hand, how many more servers would have beaten it already if it were 20 minutes? Probably a much much higher percentage than it is now
Well, that’s the point. With current time limit you need to survive the waves AND do damage, using consumables and stuff. You kinda need to do your best instead of just pressing 1.
Time limits to failure are a cheap solution … Saves them the trouble of finding more complicated solutions.
It’s because Teq is an open-world event. If it didn’t have a time limit, people would be able to just res infinitely and beat him by attrition.
Maybe it’s not the best solution, but it should always be some time pressure to stop people from res-zerging ang encouraging more careful and thoughtful play.
Time limit actually encourages players to use dps builds, which is a good thing.
So you want to play on a map with 200-300 people and experience so much massive lag that you have no reasonable chance at beating him?
Or they could, ya know, optimize the game and net code to support more players in one place. 200 players could easily be done even now, I suppose.
Overflows are usefull generally, but the current limit of players is kinda low tbh. It won’t even support a full guild, in a hypothetical situation when all 250 are online.
Gz to all of the AG!
Really cool that people stayed to try it again and again, until we beat him.
The thing about zerk players is that most of them didn’t choose zerk stats because they like it, but because it is THE most efficient way of doing pve content atm. So when, say at Teq, zerk becomes unviable they change it. I switch to my wvw pvt set for this fight, even though I’m zerk elitist whole other time.
It was never about one set of stats, this whole zerk stuff was about getting the best gear for the tasks we have. It’s only logical to switch your gear when the situation demands it. That’s what all those stubborn tanky healing rangers can’t understand and insist on playing one and only build\gear set in every game situation.
Currently there is only DPS and DPS-hybrids.
Well that’s the point. If we have no trinity, then everyone should contribute dps. It’s only that most classes are not designed for it in pve.
Hence warrior\guard domination.
Because warrior even while dealing damage still gives the party tons of might, some fury, a lot of stats from banners and has aoe-res, not to mention vuln stacking.
Guardians also can throw around a number of healing, stability, condition removal and blinds, all while doing significant damage. And then we have WoR and SoA.
So both these classs fit in the no-trinity everyone-is-dps system quite well.
There shouldn’t be skills out there that one shot, but there should be PvE mob skills out there that are highly telegraphed and if not dodged it takes out a fixed 90% of your health(no matter how much health you have it will always be 90%).
Mechanics like this one would probably get players out of that zerker stat.
How come?
If it will be fixed 90% regardless of gear, it will only promote zerk even more. Since no skill will ever 1-shot you and you’ll do more damage with zerk set.
The problem is not in the absence of death in GW2, the problem is that writers decided to use murder (out of all things) as a center of plot, ignoring the revive-fest of their own game.
It’s stupid and kinda lame.
TBH, a good party composition with zerk DPS makes all pve content trivial. Yeah, some things demand more coordination or some special skills (like blind spam or projectile reflects), it’s still not that hard or skill-intensive.
Exploits are just needed to save time and sometimes (hellou arah p4 dps-check) to actually complete a path even with stubborn “I wanna play the game the way I want” tanky condition rangers.
I wouldn’t mind killing every mob and doing the bosses legit way, if I’d have a constant party of dedicated dungeon runners with relevant DPS. We actually did full runs of AC before the nerf and it was quite nice.
But the problem of GW2 is that ~80% of players in dungeons don’t care about good DPS builds or skill rotations and stuff like that. So every encounter takes 4x the usual time. Hence the urge to skip as much as possible, while cheesing through boss-fights.

Even worse, that he can throw axe at random people, while chasing someone else. So it’s even harder to react to it.
After leveling engi, war, guard, thief and mesmer (and in the process of leveling ele), I dare say elementalist is quite easy. Right after warrior and guardian.
Because you have not only the huge amount of utility skills from level 1 (from attunement swaps) but also a lot of AOE-damage.
Tips for general leveling:
Upgrade you gear from TP every 10 levels at least – it doesn’t cost much but speeds up the process a lot.
Try to be as much zerk as you can. GW2 pve is all about “kill them before they kill you”. Learning to dodge and evade early will help you in high-end content too.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
When I did the instance, NULL only used the shield ability. And to remove that shield you could use any mine (we used caltrop one, cause it was in a nice spot). Well, and also the damage thing near death.
How much time do we have to do all this new content? Is it like 24 hours only? Or will it be up for some time like the Molten Facility?
I really hate those lb rangers, who stay at max range whole fight, dealing zero damage and never getting aggro, but acting smug just because they survive when others go down.
If you are being useful to your team it means you’re dps-spec, zerk or close to it, and meleeing stuff (even if you are ranged, to make stacking mobs easier), you will get down sometimes. And if some of your team is slacking by being ranged and tanky, you will get downed even more often. It’s ok.
Sure there are places where you souldn’t be getting down, but it’s a question of experience.
I once got a prec warhorn from random mob in CS. So it is possible.
If WoR is the right skill to use in an specific scenario, use it. Do not try to claim it’s de facto awesome and everyone who’s not using it all the time is clueless because of it.
Well, no one is saying “use it all the time nab”. One should use it only in situations with a lot of projectiles, so reflecting them is a good way to make your party do steady dps, and also increasing your own dps as well.
And yes, guardian role is using projectile block\reflection when situation needs it. Just as warrior’s role is to deal damage and mesmer’s to use TW\portals\focus pulls.
Not to mention, less dead runner = faster dungeon completion.
Low level dungeons are not really relevant in this discussion. It’s more about arah\fractals where single projectile can potentially down a glass cannon guy who does major part of party dps. And there projectile control means much more than 4s of protection.
Stability is always nice though.
I’d say human\sylvari.
Having an asuran guardian meself (the smallest size as well), I find it hard sometimes to locate him on screen. Especially in a frantic situations with a lot of people on screen. It takes just a couple of norns\charr to completely hide you character.
18% more damage for your whole party. How useful do you think it is?
Well yeah, warriors are the masters of weapons after all. Getting three weapons would be nice. But I don’t think it would happen.
I would like “Finish him!” Shout as an elite. Gain swiftness/fury/quickness for 10 second with a 60 second cooldown? Haha, that would be awesome.
And suddenly you don’t even need mesmers for CoF anymore. Chop-chop-chop.
Tbh, I don’t really see how can you replace sor\warbanner. Maybe if it’s like a defensive shout with protection stability? But that will make warrior shoutheal zerg OP in wvw. Just imagine this blob of killshots spamming prot+stab+might+fury on each other while also healing.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
That doesn’t mean people who don’t use it are delinquent or neglecting their ‘job’ of saving their teammates like the OP implies.
It does.
WoR does arguably more dps than guardian itself in Lupi fight, for example.
Doing less dps than you potentially could – is slacking (not to mention you’ll probably save someone, which will increase overall party dps even more).
Refusing to use it is like refusing to go melee as a warrior. It’s counterproductive.
just because I accept it as reality doesn’t mean I enjoy it.
I don’t think anyone really enjoys it. I’d like to play my engi too and still be a #1 dps in the party. But I rolled a warrior instead, since I don’t like to be carried.
It would be nice if people actually understood how class balance works in PvE and stopped bringing tanky engineers and condition rangers to a pug-party.
It’s not even funny anymore, seeing those poor guys struggling to kill mobs without outside help.
Demanding profession balance on forums? Oh yes, do it.
Playing inferior pve classes and wasting time for people who don’t? Please stop it or play with friends only.
It is even worse, when you do use these abilities, but your teammates just run away from shield\wall. And then die far from safe spot.
It’s so frustrating sometimes, that I kinda think I should stop using WoR\SoA in pug-parties.
Well, duh. There’s no point comparing any class to warrior’s DPS.
But if your mesmer is doing lower damage than “most other classes in full beserker gear”, it means you’re doing something wrong.
The only viable CC atm is spammable AOE-blind. It can help A LOT, especially wih some ridiculous silver packs out there.
Everything else is mostly worthless, especially if you have 3 100b warriors burning mob down all at once.
Current CC system balanced around the PvP is mostly useless in PvE and in dire need of rework.
I’ve seen so many guardians afraid to melee
Guardians who are afraid to melee in a melee encounter should be insta-kicked. There is no place in GW2 for those healbot-wannabes.
Mesmer and thief both bring a lot of really usefull utilities to the group, while still having decent dps. Still, I prefer mesmer more than thief in groups.
Though I agree, that pull, stack, burst+invuln is the way to go in most dungeons and all the utilities are not that relevant if you have enough damage.
Anet should add krait before Blizzard’ll anounce nagas as a new playable race.
Skritt for the win!
Well, I suppose you’ll need to at least go 10-25-x-x-5 to get the bonus damage against burning enemies and enemies with conditions and also get might from virue of justice.
Dunno about the rest of points though.
Well, our mostly static group experiences such things constantly. There is always like 1 guy who never gets anything, 1 who gets rares\exotics all the time and the rest have medicore results. All with the same amount of mf.
One thing I am sure of is that the longer you farm some place (cs or dungeons) the better your loot will become over time. I don’t know why it happens but it does. And by “longer” I mean weeks and months. If you just started farming some place you probably won’t get much.
As a guardian you pretty much need to pop WoR, SoA and give aoe stability. Learn when and where to use those and you’ll be a welcome addition to most parties.
Surviving is not a priority, unless you’re an anchor guard.
if you ask 10 ppla with same classes then 7/10 of them wearing the same armor look just different stats….boring!
Well it’s a problem of people actually.
I don’t know why, but most of dungeon runners wear arah set with abyssal dye. Most norns I see wear the same old t3 cultural, it’s so dumb.
Most people in this game don’t care about looks at all. All they care about is status. Like the more expensive some piece of armor is, the more people would wear it. It really bothers me, but I don’t think adding more skins will lessen the amount of abyssal+arah clones.

Warrior axe – higher dps than GS.
Mesmer sword – higher dps than GS.
Thief dagger – higher dps than sb.
Necro dagger – higher dps than staff.
Problems?
Well if you have a legendary and everything else maxed out – why not? It’s not like you have some other way to spend gold.
For most players though – yeah not worth it at all.
Path 2 and 3: Stand there in melee beating the crap out of him, when circles form, count to ~2 and dodge. Resume beating the crap out of him. . .
And if you’re a warrior you can even continue to dps him during aoe, using #3 on GS.
You can do any level higher or equal to yours to level up. It will increase your fractal level after the whole run.
I hope they will stay as a one-time achievements. It makes your in-game “age” a little more significant and reminds you about good ol’ times.
Whoever designed Path 1, which is my favorite arah path encounter wise, should be put to work on Path 4.
Please no.
There nothing interesting there aside from skipping.
Just run-run, glitch ooze, run-run, stack damage and kill “bosses” in one 100b, run-run, stand in circles+ 100b to win, run-run, Lupi, run-run, skip-skip, ping-pong for 2 minutes doing nothing. It’s one of the worst dungeons encounter design-wise.
I kinda like it because of skipping fun, but it is bad.
When you know all of the encounters well, the whole path only takes about 30 minutes.
Quite a speedrun actually. Our fastest time was around 40+ minutes. Do you melee Melandru? Cause that and grenth are the major timesinks for us.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
The old system of gradual level progression was fine. And actually prepared people to deal with fractals as they leveled up.
Now it’s so stupid, first-timers joining to lvl 30 with their laurel-bought gear and doing the dumbest things ever.
I’d prefer anet to return the old system, but make fractal levels account bound instead.
