Kholer is an easy 15-30 silver (not counting drops) for like 2-3 minutes of fighting. Kholer is the perfect example of boss you don’t want to skip.

If all trash were like kholer (quick to die, generous reward) it would’ve been a lot less skipping.

Losing even 100 gold doesn’t matter. Precursors are not the main source of income for them, it’s just a hobby.

As such, the price is dictated by the market which is the collective of both buyers and sellers.

Unless there’s a third party, that buys from sellers for low and then sells again for high. In the same TP. So you can’t justify that by “transportation fees”. And there’ll always be a demand for precursors, cause TP is the only way around the RNG.

You can influence the price by not buying it.

Now that’s really naive.

If your precursor is too expensive .. don’t buy it. You have a choice you know…

You see, precursors are just the tip of the greater picture.
I actually don’t care about legendaries at all. I have more than enough gold to buy me consumables and the only things I want are not achieved with money.
But.
In some time this game will be really uncomfortable for new players, at the rate we’re going. Most current players have some steady income and some gold to keep up with the economy.
New players would not have such a luxury. Imagine trying to level crafting with 2x costs. Only to find that there’s no profitable recipes without the gathering grind.

But you can continue to live in a dream world where prices are magically lowered just because you don’t buy anything.

Well, no.

You don’t understand. These people don’t actually play the game. they spend all their free time refreshing the TP. The moment someone will try to undercut them, they’ll just buy out the cheap Precursor and then re-sell it for a high price.

It’s true that Precursors are rare and should be expensive.

But currently TP prices are dictated by monopolists, not by people who actually aqurie those Precusrors. And that’s dumb.

To counter it Anet should either increase the amount of Precursors in-game (the so called Scavenge Hunt) or just make them less RNG in the long run (like making a Precursors cost 365 laurels or something like that).

Some people play the game and try to buy the precursor in a legit way.

Some speculate on TP, playing in spreadsheets, driving prices higher and higher, getting even richer and controlling the market with unhealthy amounts of gold.

The one thing OP nailed all right – you can’t change your name. Even if you want to.

I know at least couple rangers who do really well in dungeons and it’s always a nice run with them.

On the other hand like 90% of PUG rangers are sooo bad (eles, engis and thieves have the same problem) that you kinda want to kick them out right.

But it doesn’t matter at all in AC.

It just that you don’t choose the roles beforehand, you fit to the role you’re given in current moment.

People can ask thieves and eles not join when there is already thief or ele in the party and they need some haevies to soak damage.

Otherwise, if you already have a nice tanking line, thief is a nice addition with their dps and stealth utilities.

At first it does seem like chaos, and with novice groups it will be so. But as you gain experience and join more experienced parties you’ll see the flow and structure of GW2 dungeon fights.

The roles are still there, it’s just they are fluid and ever switching. Someone, who has the aggro, kites and dodges the boss, other people do max DPS, and sometimes everyone turn into healers, when they ress a downed party member.

It’s the default way of doing dungeons nowadays. Why can’t you understand this?

I may not like it, but when I join a PUG I’m excpecting it to be speedrunning. And I don’t ruin the run for everybody by trying to kill the mobs they skip. And I don’t whine on forums to force other people to play my way.

When I wanted to do a no-skip run, I’ve created a special LFG on the gw2lfg site and said that it would not be a speedrun. Surpisingly there were a lot of people who joined me quite quickly. That’s how you solve your problems. Creating useless topics on forums won’t help you in any way.

So yeah – speedruns is how dungeons are meant to be completed. Deal with it.

Learn to do the dungeons the proper way. Since you’re doing it with PUGs you can’t dictate HOW people should do it, so you might as well learn to speedrun for kitten’s sake.

Or you can find a group of similarly minded people.

Why Anet should bother with something that you can fix on your own.

There’s a lot of DC’s recently btw. Just yesterday we had three people disconnecting in fractals one by one (including me). And it wasn’t some computer\internet problem – just random 1 sec dc from server that kicks people into login screen.

So I kinda agree that Anet should think about fixing this stuff, so that DCs won’t affect the whole group.

Guardians excel at being tanky DPS. They can provide really nice support for the group, tank bosses and still do decent damage. Basically running a dungeon without competent guardian is not comfortable for me anymore.

Warrior are much more specialized. And all their health doesn’t mean a thing when boss can two-shot you.

If trash mobs would actually drop something nice and had less hp, I’d kill them. I try to kill mobs that drop something usefull when I get the chance.
But most trash mobs are really worthless. So why not skip them?

As for non-skipping dungeons – go to fractals. Plenty of trash to kill there.

Grawl fractal is the only one I’d skip. The last figtht there is so PUG-unfriendly. Some parties just wipe adds in seconds, some insta die the moment adds spawn. It’s too random for my taste.

Colossus is manageable. Dredge is kinda bugged right now.

But I agree that there’s a really big gap in difficulty.

Like in asura\norn\underwater\ascalon\maw fractals there’s literally nothing that can stop you from completing the fractal. On the other hand I had me share of rage-quits in dredge\grawl fractals.

Well, in full exotics I don’t feel the difference on my warrior.

I don’t like WvW, this zerg-infested culling hell. But I still did the achievement every month. Even without the laurel rewards.

What’s so hard in it? Just choose some time to do something different aside from your usual routine. If you aren’t doing anything beside X and Y in-game, then it looks terribly like a grind, that everyone is so much afraid of.

So stop your grind for a moment and do something different. That’s why monthlies are there.

Armour types is one of the defining points of professions. It’ll never change. Deal with it.

Well, even the old version of encounter was doable. and even by a medicore party with some determination.

New cof p2 is way easier with regular mobs instead of silvers (and even silver assassins are squishy, so you can have two people dedicated to killing them, while the rest of the party keeps cleaning the trash). I really dunno where can you fail. This coming from a melee warrior who completed this path with ranged only teammates.

I mean have you actually done the opening event for cof? It’s practically the same stuff.

The defending of Magg is such a faceroll now.

Done it with a pug party with 2 rangers, rifle warrior and some ele. Had no difficulties whatsoever and completed it in one try. I imagine with good team it’s just facerolling while mobs die.

It could even use some more upscaling.

So you need to actually make a lsthit with combo-finisher projectile? Or just use fire fieald to get fire shield some time during the fight?

I don’t understand what people mean by saying “I’ll use guesting to play with mah friends”.

I mean, if you want to do dungeons – it can be done cross-server anyways.

PvP and WvW is not covered by guesting, so that’s not the case either.

So what do you want to do? Talking in LA’s map chat? Randomly running around? There’s like no content for guesting in GW2, besides the dragons\temples hopping.

My largest issue is clipping.

While a full matched set of armour is usually ok, if you try to mix you’ll almost certainly will have some clipping. And this is driving me mad.

I don’t want to look like a clone with full arah\cof set. I try to mix and match. But whenever I find a nice combination it always has some weird colour or clip through each other. Being a chubby norn doesn’t help either.

You get daily chest once for each tier (2-8, 10-18, etc.).

As for alts and dailies – I dunno.

OP said that devs don’t communicate with players at all and that it is expected of them to be silent.

And this is actually untrue, since we have a dungeon designer who is very open and tries to be in touch with community. So there’s no company policy restricitng forum communication.

And that rises the question of why don’t the class designers do the same amount of communication on forums. Players are right to be frustrated by abandonment.

And since engi is one the few professions that have outstanding issues in some game aspects it is only understandable why people want dev attention to our class.

But you can continue to pretend that “everything is fine”. Duck and cover.

Well, every ele I’ve pug’ed with got downed IF he was actually pulled and recieved damage from Kholer’s spin.

Obviously mist form counters it. It’s among those things evryone aware of. But it doesn’t change the thing that as a dps warrior I don’t need any stun breakers\invulnerability to survive it. I can just wait out the stun and dodge. And still have like half health. Not to mention that warrior also has stun breakers, endure pain, mobility skills etc.

And it’s just one of many examples. There’s Lupicus, where light classes survive mostly because he targets the heavies, fire shaman adds in fotm 20+ who instantly melt squishies, the list goes on.

It’s not like non-heavy classes are bad, it’s just, as I’ve said before, they don’t have such a built-in handicap for making mistakes.

Yeah, that would be a curious turn of events.

4 warriors can get 12 aoe stacks of might+8 from sigil of rage+some might from GS. Not to mention that aoe quickness from mesmer beats all that might hands down.

Seriously, might stacking is so common in game, you can’t really say it is an advantage. Especially if you need to spend billion seconds to setup combos, while other classes don’t even have a GCD on might abilities and can use them while doing damage.

Well you can survive Kholer’s pull and dodge away as a warrior. As a thief\ele\engi you just die if you fail to dodge.
You kinda have a larger margin for errors on warriors\guardians. Guardians can just afk-facetank some places where everyone else need to dodge\kite.

If you want to be ranged, I’d say go for p\p thief.

For warrior you’d better be meleeing.

If you look at the dungeons forum section, you’ll see a dev who actually talks to players and explains his choices about dungeon design.

So developers do communicate with players. Just not with engineer playerbase.

You can change it to “knights guardians” or “cleric necros” or whatever. If it’ll include some dps race mechanics it will become a closed club for selected professions with “viable” builds really fast.

It happens in PUGs.

Try to do dungeons with guildies and with some voice-chat service. Makes dungeon runs a lot more bearable for both sides (begginers and vets).

It seems that the droprate for vials is lower than for globs and shards. Which is strange really.

I had like 3 vials for going from 1 to 10 and then like 7 globs in 10-20.

On the other hand, some of people I ran fractals with told that they have like 15+ vials and don’t know what to do with them.

Well, party RNG is broken, it’s old news.

You can do P1 in less than 7 minutes with good party. P2 is longer, since events there have fixed length.

Actually, I don’t remember ever seeing night in GW2 =\ I wonder, am I just “lucky” or don’t pay attention.

I just don’t know where to use this build.

In AC\CoF it’s all about speedruns and a decent DPS party kills bosses faster then they can do any damage.

In arah it’s either easy mod faceroll bosses or lupi where you all need to scatter and stay as far from each other as possible.

In higher level fractals it’s the same as arah. Heal on crit food mitigates regular damage, while agony one-shots you anyway.

I dunno, it just seems like the random nature of it makes it incredibly undesirable.

Engineers have a whole set of skills, that have random effects (including one elite skill!). So don’t tell me about some optional trait.

And devs still say engis are fine.

I suppose they just don’t know how to fix engi without a thorough class rework, but they are to lazy to do it now.

And since we still have stubborn people playing engi and saying “engi is fine”, devs can continue to ignore us.

Well, I’m glad I have a warrior to do dungeons while we wait.

You can also try to run around the brazier but inside the fire cage, while spamming #1. This way mobs will lose time trying to get in position, and you’ll be hitting them anyways.

Acolytes could be tricky – yeah. Just move constantly.

But gate controller? How can you die there?

I had no problems there on my engi. And it’s even easier on warrior. You can try heal on crit food if you’re desperate.

AOE nerfs aside, I really think this was a horrible fail from Anet’s PR department.

1) Live streams are used either to immediatly communicate with audience or to cast some huge event. It is not used to create videoblog-like content. If you wanted to create a video with developers talking about the future of GW2 – Youtube would’ve been a much better place to do it.

2) The whole stream announcement was really strange and hasty. Why there’s no news on the main page of guildwars2.com? Why it’s just a one time pop-up alert that I almost missed? Who does things like that? Is this a real game studio or some indie guys, casting from garage?

3) Why did you created a questions thread only during the stream? It would be much better to let the community create a list of hot issues and let devs a couple of days to figure some nice answers on video. It’s as if no one actually thought this “stream” thingie through.

Overall, I feel that Anet’s community managers are doing a very poor job in actually managing the community and communication between devs and players.

How do you feel about Engineer in the end-game PvE (fractals 30+, arah speedruns, etc.) content?

Is the design of this profession final? Or we can expect some buffs\rework in future?

Will there be more communication between class designers and players?
