Please, stop posting here that it is not bugged.
We already know that you can get the achievemnt.
The problem is that there’s some conditions that can prevent from getting it. And we don’t really know what they are.
I would like to see this mini-game as a constat adition to gw2. It was really fun, would be nice to play this in a more relaxed atmosfere without stupid achievements ruining gameplay.
Yeah, Swamp is the best one. Fast, easy, takes some skill.
The worst ones are dredge (too long, crazy infinite mobs, boss is fine though), grawl (at least it is short, but so many people fail at last boss) and cliffside (just long and annoying).
I think that warrior need to have shotgun, while engi gets the sniper rifle.
This is more fair. Cause warrior has more hp and armor AND longer rifle range. Really no logic in this.
Crit works in different way.
In the long run it normalizes and just increases overall DPS.
RNG on elixirs thogh, they are used as an on-demand buff. But due to randomness we can’t expect what we want to. So engi is forced to adapt to what rng gave him.
Yeah, it’s not that hard after some practice.
I suck at JPs really hard and still made it after half an hour of tries.
If you can climb up in cliff-side fractal and asura fractal – you’ll make it.
The key is to keep moving. The snowflakes in first part are positioned in such a way that you can jump on them without stopping.
I use thrown elixirs only for HGH and turbo-res.
Never used them for their buffs.
the group can simply tank spank bosses with just a engii heals
Don’t be oblivious.
Warriors and guardians tank bosses allright without anyone’s help.
Your “great DPS” is medicore at best.
And no, engi can’t tank in serious dungeons.
To OP:
Don’t listen to anyone.
If you like the profession – go for it.
Things will change anyway. And the balance of power will never be the same.
In pve engi has a distinct place in parties – that is vuln stacking from grenades. This is very powerful mechanics that increases overall party DPS by as much as 25%.
In pvp engi is a decent class and someone even mark him as close to OP.
He is not useless. Though not as strong and versatile in pve as some other professions. But worth playing anyway.
Dear fellow engineers.
A long post and some random numbers+spreadsheet doesn’t mean it is all true.
My bleeds tick for ~55 damage.
This is pathetic, I couldn’t care les about how many stacks of that worthless condition I can get.
And no, from my observations in real game environment the damage dropped by about 15-20%.
Engi is still usefull in PvE, cause grenades can give 12-18 stacks of vulnerability consistently (exact number can vary). And this is very good for heavy-dps teams. But the thought about being worst party member damage-wise poisons our minds anyway.
I was worried about travel costs during leveling.
But now at 80 you just sit at LA anyways. Travelling to some dungeon once or twice per day won’t kill your wallet.
I’d prefer to see mounts more.
Would be nice I guess.
Since no one stays in s-e field like evah.
Though 2s for a combo is kinda tough.
Anyways, if you’ve spent a lot of time fruitlessly looking for last piece, you should try to re-enter the dungeon solo and destroy all things yourself.
Helped a party get the achievemnt today. No one left and we got it in couple of minutes without issues.

Well, I really hate eles and thiefs moving out of my res field. This is so tupid.
So moving after downed is not very good idea.
But some defensive ability would be nice. Like aoe blind or something.
I’d like engi to have tollbelt even after downed, but it would be too OP methinks.
Get gear with actually usefull stats → do more damage → clear dungeons faster → get more items.
Now you know it.
Can we have both signet of fire and strength? Or only one “active” sigil works?
(edited by Isslair.4908)
And how many damage you gain from 210 power? Just wonderin’
EDIT: From my rough estimates it’s about 7%.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
Nope, ’nades still better for PvE. Just shows us how other kits suck in this regard.
Well, as I said:
When I tried to do this achievement after the run with 3 people leaving the dungeon I couldn’t complete it. Even though we ran around for more than half an hour and destroyed everything there was.
Then I went in solo and got the achievement after 5 mins just running in circle, kiting mobs and spamming grenades.
I’m not sure if it’s bugged, but there’s definitely something fishy there.
Because giving what, 4 stacks of aoe might (cause you won’t be using thrown R for buffing) on a (by anet’s words) support class, is too damn op. Seems legit.
Yeah, grenade nerf damaged mostly the PvE aspect of engi. It was disscussed a hundred times already.
Engi has some versatility in PvP ans is quite decent class there.
PvE on the other hand is more one-sided and we’re lacking there. And no, killing monsters during leveling doesn’t give you the idea. Warriors dropping veteran mobs in higher-level fractals like we do trash ones – does.
Grenades are a bad kit to use. I suppose everyone will agree on that. that #1 spam is horrible. But it is our way to be “ok” in dungeons, without the feeling that we are being carried by other teammates.
I would like to see buffs to other skills and use them with the same efficiency as ’nades. But for now their damage and infinite vulnerability stacking is the way to go in dungeons\fractals.
Anet should’ve given us a real alternative. then they could nerf grenades all they want.
It’s not about one kit, it’s about wanting our profession to be equal in one of the important aspects of GW2.
The game needs an instant ignore for elitism and dps meter fusterclucks. It works or it doesn’t, if it doesn’t it’s your fault, no one elses.
Why so anxious?
Feeling threatened already?
Yeah, not worth it. I see ~20 stacks of bleed every time, without me adding more.
Stacks are useless in dungeons -_-
You’re skipping mobs anyways and get to downed state frequently. Stop theorycrafting.
Also, anyone confirmed that both sigils work? I saw some posts about only one sigil giving stacks.
I’m a pistol and shield user. Haven’t noticed pistol nerf from that patch. I still hit 300 and during crit around 600-900.
Lol dude.
My 20+ warrior in crappy blues+greens sometimes has lucky 1000+ crits.
300 is nothing. It’s like backpack regenerator heal.
But please continue your “engi is fine” talk.
Well, I tried grenades in-game. Lost about 200~ish dmg per grenade, considering boost from more might stacks and sigils.
Still the best DPS kit for engi.
The point of this nerf still eludes me.
sheug I don’t have any parsers, but nobody complained.
Noone has any parsers. That’s why no one complains. GW2 need some dps-meters, so people could see all the difference between professions.
But really, do you like to be carried?
It is destroyed already, don’t bother.
Imagine warriors without GS, thieves without daggers and shortbow, eles without staff.
Still better than engi.
You know, staying alive in boss fights matter too. With no tanks and healers, if you’re all specced as full DPS (as you’ve said, only dps matter), your party is gonna get steamrolled more often than a balanced party would.
Don’t even start.
I saw far to many “healer elementalists” with 200-a-tick regen. Like it would help against one-shot.
And yes, dps helps surviving the fight more.
There are enough skills that give you a nice save in tight spot and everyone can dodge (or can they?). This and kiting is more than enough for a defence.

Grenades were way too strong in pve
No.
They were not.
Only if you compare them to other engi skills. But this is faulty logic. Warriors and guardians kill stuff faster than greandier with several viable builds and more survivability. ’Nades just gave us a good place in parties.
I dunno about pvp, but that’s the reason they splitted the skill in two versions. And spvp is more about burst anyways.
I dunno is it bugged or not.
But I tried to do this achievement with party, some people left after the boss and the two of us decided to wreck dem houses. We destroyed everything and didn’t get anything, so the other guy eventually got bored of looking for that last one fantom building and left.
So I decided to try and do it solo. I entered the dungeon, ran around and destroyed everything myself – and got the achievement without even the need to do a second circle.
Maybe if people, who destroyed some buildings, leave the party before you get it, then houses destroyed by them don’t count? I dunno. But people should try the solo way if they have trouble otherwise.
What do you mean max performance?
I would think that max skill at playing your class, understanding how you contribute to the fight in different circumstances would do much more for the party.
The skill has a ceiling. Skill cap is easily achieved in GW2.
After you hit it, only the raw power of profession matters. And this is where every single nerf/buff counts
Yeah, I see a lot of people running with crazy and useless builds in pugs, die in every fight and feel fine about letting 4 other people down. But some people, like meself, don’t like to be subpar.
Tosha Daydreamer, it’s not about people complaining. We don’t have dps-meters anyway. It’s about how you feel being the weakest chain in a party. I don’t like to be a fifth wheel >_>
(edited by Isslair.4908)
And because of my “expect it, be ready, be flexible” philosophy I am not one to reroll once they nerf my class. I simply do not let it ruin the fun I’m having. Besides, it forces me to rethink my character, and letting me invent new ways of playing. And that is fun in and of itself.
Btw, this is an answer I would have given for every class in every MMO.
This is only applicable for solo play.
If you want to join a party you need to have max performance. Otherwise you’re just being a bad person and ruining fun for your teammates.
The point is all professions should have equal perfomance in all aspects of the game.
That’s why we don’t have trinity in GW2. OH WAIT.
In dungeons – yes.
Spamming #1 from grenades was the only way to have compaable dps with other classes.
In wvw/spvp – no.
It all depends on what you want to do.
Nah.
I won’t give up my engi. It will be ok someday… someday.
Just take a break from gw2 for now.
Well I have the same feeling about my engi as you about your ranger – it is my main.
It is the class I started to play gw2 with. I really love the concept and some of his skills.
But it is harder and harder to stick with him. I want to but the devs push me away.
I have other alts as well. And it is really fun playing with them. Maybe now it is time to level some of them.
I dunno who though. I’m kinda scared to play warrior, cause OP classes tend to drop hard when their time comes.
FT/EG/torchpp all miss randomly especially when there are a ton of mobs on top of you no matter where your camera is and while you are covering them entirely with your weapon’s output.
The funny thing is, that this ele skill don’t have such issues:
Drake’s Breath
Good points.
I really hope warriors and guardians will have some attantion from playerbase now. Cause you know, they were kinda forgotten due to the engi opness.
LOL & mesmer in pve..
I play a pve mesmer and have to build for status effects on clone death, because there’s only a 30% chance the clones live until a shatter.
Yeah, and some people in war forums say that warriors suck in gw2.
Yet we all know how it is. >_>
Well at least now I have time to level my other characters.
Oh wai.. I don’t even want to log in anymore.
I’m really tired of clueless people saying that utility makes up for dps.
In pvp – yes, maybe.
But in dungeons it’s all about DPS. Every class have their own utilities and survival solutions. There is no need in game for a support class. All that is needed is quick killing of stuff.
So a class with low dps is not viable.
Well, I don’t say that engi is the worst or the useless. But he now really needs some buffs to other skills to compensate for grenades. Otherwise they are not welcome in any decent party.
PUGs who want to clear fotm 1 for three hours are welcome to invite any class they want.
Bosses are not all that matters in this game.
It is in dungeons.
No one cares how you kill mobs during leveling.
But when you join a party for dungeon run, you’re expected to have max perfomance so you won’t waste people’s time by spending several minutes to kill just one mob.
Dungeons are all about boss fights. Most mobs are skippable. And in boss fight only raw DPS matters.
I don’t understand why people can’t see it.
(edited by Isslair.4908)
What bothers me most is they’re giving the engineer nerfs instead of buffs.
This.
It’s not like we all really love grenades. We would like to see alternative with comparable DPS in pve. But there is none.
And what did anet do to remedy this? They nerfed the only kit that allowed engi not to suck compared to other classes.
When I see a FTengi in dungeons\fotm I silently die inside.
It is basically saying: “Now you’ll have 4 people instead of 5”. Even now grenades are better.
Sure, some people are comfortable with other people actually doing damage. But for anyone who want to be really usefull there was only one choice – grenade spam.
And about the build?
Well, I guess you can try the rifle crit build. But yeah, there’re no real options in the “most versatile” class.
Meh, I’ve never used grenades in pvp anyways. There are far more better skills there.
But grenades are the sole option for engi in pve.
Sure you can go with pugs and do negative damage with some crazy “support” builds and clear ac for several hours, I dunno. But for a decent group of guardians+warriors engi is now a liability. And that is the worst thing about the patch.
Grenades were strong only compared to other engi skills.
Guardians and Warriors both do more damage while having more survaivability and innate aoe. So why did they nerf ’nades in PvE is beyond me.
We have firearms already, crossbows are outdated.
Polearms are fine though.
Now sit back and wath the TP price on omnomberry bars skyrocket. Gz on 400 in cooking btw)
Well it depends on what a GM can do.
If they will be able to “reset” a broken NPC, skill point, event without restarting whole server – GMs would be a welcome addition.
Game certainly has some minor issues wich could be solved by precise field tuning. But now we are forced to wait for the maintenance and hope it will work.
On the other hand, if there is no real instruments to do such things, then GMs would be kinda useless.
