Agreed I got the one in Auric Basin with lean technique. So how about it ANET? Here’s a chance to make it possible to get into Dragon’s Domain without hopping maps and hoping for a zerg.
Sick of being thrashed on Reaper, I switched one of my Necromancers back to the (very) old MM build.
I did just fine except that the minions apparently wiped the Corrupted Pale Tree. Activating the rift no longer worked. So the story was completely stuck. I finally logged out to resolve the issue. Screenshot attached.
While I’m on the subject of Mordy… this is my fourth trip through
( not counting a fail ). The third time, I repeated with a Mesmer.
I received no reward at all for the repeat This means that for each piece of Ley Line Armor I have to slog through the entire personal story, again.
Gotta tell you ANET, with each hour of repeat, it grows more inane. Having one armor piece per toon is a really very bad idea.
I’m getting more and more kittened off, listening to the same dialog over and over.
Hearing the huge audio error in Majory just before Kasmeer shows up at the crossroad… That, friends, is strictly hobby level work and not commercial.
Seeing the leaps in logic and flaws in the storyline that didn’t occur to me as I enjoyed the first time.
This needs to be fixed.
OH? where’d you find useful ley lines? I did find one highway near Ley Line Confluence. Nice speed run but too short.
I really enjoy gliding and ground ridiculously for the T6 mastery.
It cost me 12 points to get. (though I got one back in the Pulse Room ) For what? an occasional quasi useful updraft?
Lame.
I was hoping that it would get me into Dragon’s Domain without having to depend on a mob.
Whatever the case, so far it’s been quite a bit less useful than updraft. I expected a lot more from a t6 skill.
I agree, with each insta crush kill or stun-then knocked off cliff insta die I get more kittened off.
I don’t even try for strategy in hot anymore.. just yolo, you’re going to die any kitten way.
Thank all Six Gods. May it be buried, forgotten, lost, rotted and never return.
I thought Eir’s death was a really bad move as far as story telling. Still, it’s clear that ANET’s trying to introduce the new group as Destiny’s edge 2.0. ( with the player as the central figure ) To do that, they’ll have to write out all the originals or retire them as mentors.
I totally agree that Eir deserves a Story Instance to send her off to the Mists in proper style.
As to npc discussing Eir; ANET’s dodge for story continuity is that all or most of those things happened before the personal story. It’s pretty clever truthfully.
With respect to Time Travel.. my impossible hope it that Chronomancers will find a way to visit Old Tyria.. not unlike fractals.
(edited by Ithilwen.1529)
I repeated Hearts and Minds, hoping to add to my collection of Ley Stone Armor. I got through it this time with some alacrity though it was still a couple of hours.
There was NO REWARD AT ALL. Really ANET? Nothing? This means of course that I use my tomes to farm it… but that’s really not right.
No you are dead wrong. The next step requires activating the rift. Doing that means standing there for some seconds communing. Since the rift is midair, it is not possible to stand there. Therefore it is impossible to advance the fight.
I suggest you learn to play, my dear.
I’ve got rifts spawning mid air, forcing (yet another) repetition of a long series of fights. Screenshot attached.
On the positive, I’m getting much better at the mechanics with all the practice.
I’m in my fourth year of play.. never gotten a precursor drop either from play or the mystic toilet. I’d say you were undeservedly lucky and a poor sport for complaining about getting a precursor drop.
Pssst it’s in the gem store
Bumping this thread because I want ANET to see it. I feel Eir should have a moot and a pyre to honor her. Similar but culturally appropriate things for Zoja and Logan.

False, I’ve seen it several times now.
I’m currently running a power shatter Chronomancer. It’s amazing to have shatters work for me and hit.
What has been found to work for chaining shatters? I’m running Dom/Duel/Chrono with illusionary reversion and the phantasm shatter trait. Sword/shield and Greatsword.
Related question; Is there a method or sequence of skills that’s been found to maximize Alacrity?
Related; I’ve aquired some of my first gear with Concentration qualities. Is a build known or being tested for boonshare?
I agree the transition looks weird, A shield actually would cover/hide items such as a pack though.
8/10 I’m having a ball. Mastery is taking forever though.
I’d like to see Kasmeer win back her family’s noble charter. It’s not all that uncommon for people to be raised to nobility for service to the state or the sovereign. Witness Sir Paul McCartney.
Kasmeer and Majory have definitely earned it. I’d also like to see them wed on the palace grounds.
A couple other things I’d like to see; A meeting and coming to terms with The Pale Tree and Caithe, I’d like to get a chance to honor Eir in Norn fashion, singing her praises at the hearth in the great lodge. Logan and Zoja need to be honored and dealt with.. and then there’s my lady Queen Jenna.
The story needs a lot of closures and tying of loose ends. I feel I should return to The Pale Tree and explain her firstborn’s willing sacrifice…
The story needs follow through.
The vinetooth target message reads or used to read something like; “Punishes grouping too closely together.” That’s a pretty clear hint.
I just got this HP with a PUG. The Alpha will focus concentrations of players. The way to win is to spread out and range. I saw a group of heavies try to melee and use timed CC. They got a pretty good hammering. The light and medium armors carried the fight by staying clear and spread out.
I’ve seen level 4 multiple times in a row. There’s a certain faction of players who like to do a “push map” and will fan out and pester everyone to be in specific spots. It does certainly multiply the rewards.
You need a fair number of people on the map and several kitten herders to make it happen.
It is annoying yes. I needed several tries.
To get there in daytime, go to Shrouded Ruins way point. Then track around to Dust Dancer plateau. There is a bouncing mushroom. go up. Climb the red rock to the vine. Continue up the vine to the area where the young Wyverns are.
Incidentally.. there is a juvenile Wyvern here, I believe.
Take the left fork as you look uphill. Another bouncing mushroom will land you at the starting point for the JP. Push forward a bit during the jump, otherwise you may miss and fall.
There’s an alternate route for many destinations in the canopy (for daytime travel) via Mellagan’s Valor. Climb the airship wreckage and take the updrafts.
Here’s a couple of quick screen grabs. (less than perfect lighting, I’m no photographer) The Golden Glider being modeled by a Charr Vigil Crusader. The Asura nearby is daring him to jump This is by the “On Golden Wings” Adventure.
(edited by Ithilwen.1529)
I’d grind for that. I hope ANET is listening.
Did you folks see that glider at “On Wings of Gold?” Too cool. Will that ever be craftable/grindable?
I’m going through the personal story a second time. One thing that’s really impressing me is the quality of the cutscenes and the conversation in general.
I loved the introduction scene to GW1, pre searing. It had a quality of being “real.”
In GW2 some of the conversations have felt stilted to the point of comical. HoT has really turned that around. I find myself liking the new generation of Destiny’s Edge.
A lot of work was invested in scripting and voice acting.
Taimi in particular is well drawn and well acted.
Another bright spot is the introductory lecture to Tarir and the glider flight that follows. I have Advanced Gliding ground out.. so probably got a fuller effect on the flight.
In fact, may I suggest that all characters be temporarily granted advanced gliding for this flight? It makes a real difference
GG ANET, the story telling took a real step forward.

I don’t find adventures too hard so far. It took a fair amount of time to grab a Silver in Ley Line Run, but I expected to have to work for it.
I got through it solo. It took me a bit over 4 hours, but it can be done. Therefore, it can’t be as bugged as people are making out.
I’d point out that Trahearne is a plant being. Maybe a stick got pruned and can be grown back or something.
No reward for Verdant brink completion.
Bumping the thread, same issue here.
I agree 100% I hope this happens.
Mission accomplished: 4 hours 10 minutes for a total of just over 9 hours.
Was it worth it? Yes.
Was it a great Story? definitely yes.
You sure as kitten made me earn it though, ANET.
UPDATE: just under 4 hours into the story I died at the very last sequence… last words in my ears “it’s open!” Back I go to try again.
UPDATE: 3 hours 8 minutes into the story. I finally broke down and paid to win, buying repair kits from Black Lion. Still trying to get through The Pale tree after coming close several times.
It shouldn’t need to be mentioned by now.. ANET you have a very unhappy customer in me after 8 hours in total trying to get through this.
I’m not interested in running it with a group. This game isn’t about zerg farming. At least it shouldn’t be.
Yes, but Mordremoth leashes me every time, making it impossible to go anywhere. I simply get to stand there and watch myself die.
UPDATE: 2 hours into the story, down to my panties.. just in leroy mode now, getting downed every few seconds by the pale tree. I don’t honestly believe at this point that there is a logical or effective method of doing this fight.
Look at the DPS, my Illusions are doing damage a level 1 character would be ashamed of and I’m doing none at all, except indirectly through bleeding.
UPDATE: 1 hour and 6 minutes into the story;
Here’s a sample of my combat log, after a 4rth fail against Blighted Canach. I am a fully unlocked chronomancer. All armor and trinkets are Ascended quality. My Chronomancer shield is my worst weapon, an exotic. The greatsword is Ascended. ( skinned as Belinda’s Greatsword, appropriately )
I spent 22 minutes hitting Blighted Canach with the story shield only to be killed when he was nearly down.
There is definitely something not right here.
I’m now 30 minutes into my second attempt at the last personal story chapter. No doubt I’ll be fighting in my lingerie soon.
The first attempt took 5 hours before I gave up out of shear fatigue.
ANET, you didn’t give clear indications of what to do. The unavoidable kill in the third phase… My guildies tell me that a weird voodoo proceedure will allow me to get clear instead of being simply flattened. I’m hoping that’s the truth.
If it was ANET’s goal to leave players openly swearing with rage, I’d say this was a huge success.
I’d point out that gliders are mounts of sorts.

Why not make it with 100% world completion then? Specific areas might work too. I’d love to hang glide the cliffs over Wizard’s Fief.
It would make a good advert for HoT
Apparently the bug is only for people with 100% world completion. I’m repeating it on a toon that hasn’t finished the world.. hoping to get the prize ( which I need in order to make the Mesmer Legendary )
If that doesn’t work, then I’m locked out of ever getting the legendary.
I really pretty unhappy that I have to repeat Verdant Brink. Why am I punished for already having had 100% world completion?
Just got roflstomped by Stavemaster Adryn (again)… it’s soured me on HoT quite a bit.
One shot killing unavoidable bosses like adryn and the axemaster are contributing to my being really kittened with having to go through this, again.
Did I mention I spent 5 hours trying to beat the bugged dragon fight? This really needs to be fixed.
Witch Brooms and Magic Carpets. Both have been Gem Store items so are already made.
@unloveableone.
I find your post hard to believe. I’ve just come from roughly 5 hour session try to beat Mordremoth. A single segment of the final fight, up to “massive attack” took an average of 27 minutes to kite through.
3 successive attempts got me killed instantly and inescapably by the “massive attack.”
I see two possibilities;
A.) You are a god tier player and / or exceptionally lucky. Though if that were the case, you’d be unlikely to put down others. Pros tend to be nice people.
B.) You aren’t being truthful.
L2P posts are seldom productive and you are wrong this time.
I’ve been fighting Mordremoth for something on the order of 5 hours now. The most recent attempt at the final battle took 27 minutes to kite to the point of the “Massive Attack.”
Three times in a row now, I’ve been unavoidably held and insta killed by the “massive attack.”
27 Minutes for a single stage of a fight is too much. I’m wearing full ascended armor and trinkets. In addition I’m wielding ascended and legendary weapons. My back piece is Light of Dwayna.
Before the “l2p” posts… I’m also Dragon Rank in PvP and have 13k + AP. I’m not a noob and I do know how to play.
This boss has too much health or heal or something. Many of my attacks do 0 damage. In any case it should not be possible for a boss to survive 27 minutes against an actively shattering Mesmer and multiple legendary quality NPCs.
Please check this anet.. I’m swearing fairly freely at this point as I go for my 4rth attempt. I have to admit, I’m also bored. OK, I get the mechanic and the story.. I got it two hours ago. This is too much. Now I just want it done and over with rather than feeling triumphant or heroic.
I am having a ball in HoT. Gliders and the vertical component are a stroke of genius. GG ANET.
