Yeah it’s not predictable when it does this, but it’s definately a bug. We held Durios for three hours and kept having to kill the NPCs … pain in the you know what because they’re programmed to take out enemy siege .. which made putting up siege .. well difficult,lol .. once the enemy came in and took it, and we then reclaimed it, the bug vanished.

We had that happen the other day at Durios. Letting the enemy take it and then reclaim it seemed to fix it. It’s an odd bug.

Gear doesn’t scale in WvW. So the damage you’re doing isn’t as significant as a lvl 80 toon. Plus until you hit at least 50 you have few traits and skill points to help you fight. I found 50 to be the sweet spot for making a dent

Gender issues tend to be the most sensitive. What’s funny to some isn’t to others. I didn’t particularly care one way or another about your post, but because it’s a hot-button topic, I would assume anything perceived as derogatory would be deleted, even without being reported.

Best to just remain upbeat, respectful, and add to the dialogue. Presenting a differing view isn’t a bad thing, just couch it in phrases that encourage discussion.

Actually I’m quite proud of being a girl gamer. In my industry, I’m typically the lone female voice in a sea of men. It’s taught me a lot. It’s also taught me it’s ok to talk about stuff like this because times are a-changin’ …. I like that women feel more comfortable in MMOs, that they actually do pvp and love WvW as much as I do.

I like that we tend to broach topics like these with humour, and that we’re open to new ways of doing things that our male counterparts may not have thought of yet … and I’m equally glad we have mature male members of the gaming community who appreciate our ideas and that we can be just as tough as they are.

BTW, you know those few who leave their zerg and chase you down all over the map, no matter what happens? Yep, probably a girl .. who wants your shoes.

Has anyone ever considered that being a girl playing a videogame is so common place that it seems incredibly silly and self righteous for women to be making posts simply about how cool and rare it is to be a girl gamer kicking dude’s butts?

Am I wrong here? Or is it that the idea of equality is so undermined by the female psyche that females still feel the need to put themselves out there waving frivolously “I’m a female! I play videogames! I PVP! It makes me special!”

It’s a little unnerving to me, that’s all.

Women in videogames are no different than men. Other than the natural tendency for nuturing and support roles as well as lowered reaction time due to the females need to multi-task consistently, women are common place in videogames, all aspects and I don’t really think a fancy thread saying men stay out is going to do much good to those seeking attention for being a female in the digital environment.

But I was more curious about those of us who WvW. Traditionally, I would never have ever set foot in anything pvp-related, but I’ve found myself developing a certain fondness for WvW because it involves strategy and a strong sense of teamwork.

We were talking about this on our forums tonight and I’ll pilfer this data from another server-mate about stats:

Computer/Video Game Industry Demo Data:

- The average gamer is 30 years old and has been playing for 12 years.

- Sixty-eight percent of gamers are 18 years of age or older.

- Forty-seven percent of all players are women, and women over 18 years of age are one of the industry’s fastest growing demographics.

- Today, adult women represent a greater portion of the game-playing population (30 percent) than boys age 17 or younger (18 percent).

For MMORPGs in particular, it’d be a safe estimate to say women make up around a 3rd of the playerbase, though many factors can skew that number for any given game, including genre, level of player-generated content, representation of avatars, etc.

So I’m curious ladies; why do you WvW? And if you do, what role do you find yourself in: support, supply, or out on the front lines bashing some heads?

What most out there should realize is that the “guy” beside you could just be female … and likely kicking your butt

That happens now. Merchants can be bought while walls are being upgraded …. The merchant supply count is instant reduction, the walls take supply over time.

Yes, but the people we do have are awesome and bring a lot to the table in WvW and beyond.

I like our funny zombie coast … Our map chat is hilarious most days …. You can catch glimpses of it during score updates.

Haha yeah, well KN hasn’t been helping in that regard either. Late last night when were trying to siege Bay, as soon as the wall would go down and we’d move in to work on inner we’d hear “KN is at Redbriar again”. Followed by .. “sigh okay let’s take it back and build the trebs again”. Then later we had to fight off KN once again who was sieging Briar from the island while we were working on Bay again only to have TC backdoor and take it while we were busy. Next thing you know we had nothing in TCBL haha. It was pretty fun though. Good fights last night for sure.

Haha I must have missed that. For most of when I was on TCBL we were trying to attack BG’s 1 tower over and over again so that they wouldn’t take Bay from you. Of course BG ended up wiping us repeatedly with us acheiving nothing, but you gotta play for the points!!!

Actually ill be honest I dont think ive killed anyone from TC so far this match up. Ive spent the past like 20 odd hours fighting on our side of the BG BL. we just failed at a mesmer portal into the keep when the whole thing crashed >.<
