These polls are verging on becoming a farce. There are many players on the salt forum boasting about voting yes purely to troll and destroy the mode.
I’m one of the people on the salty forums who “boasted” about voting yes and honestly, idc…. I actually voted No, but I guess I’ll change my vote now. Whatever Arena Net throw on my way, I’ll overcome. Unlike some crybabies who couldn’t even take desert borderlands just because it have some small gimmicks.
And no-one is talking about getting rid of siege its just keeping it as support for taking objectives thats all.
I see lots of posts saying things along these lines: “this game need less siege and not more”. You better read other posts before posting things like this.
Wanting less siege does not equate to getting rid of siege. I want AC damage toned down that doesn’t mean I want all siege gone.

There is also the fact that the community basically voted to prioritize the most demanding stuff on the scoring changes list. They will take a while, so in the mean time they don’t have much to show for those… better this than dead air, no?
I do not want to suffer from bad features just because they are easy to make.
The bit you chose to quote was referring to having polls about minor changes in the interim in general. Whether this specific change is good or bad, since we are given the option to do so I choose to not decide it is bad outright without at least trying it if the developers believe it is worth the consideration.
You assume it is bad, and you may be correct… however, it doesn’t have to be bad… you have no way to prove that it will be bad for certain no more than I can say that it won’t be bad at this point. Without seeing how it actually plays out we can only speculate one way or another.
In that case then why bother having the pools instead of just saying “hi gize, we’ll test X feature this week and then we’ll make a pool about what you thought about it”?

Gold grind is not an issue. We managed somehow to finish Kudzu and ascended armour sets. But all this guild tasks that need 3-5 players worrying me. I definitely will investigate about guild rush and shovels. Sad that for this tasks we have to go deeper into PVE world.
Wvw jumping puzzle guild task is not the one we could enjoy.You don’t need 3+ players to complete g-mish, although admittedly: PvE g-mish are more easily done with fewer.
The short version: simply trigger each mission you have while you WvW. Eventually, you’ll end up with most of them by happenstance (off-peak). A few, you’ll have to make a special effort or two.
List of Opportunities
I’m going to cover the ‘easy’ tier only, since, as a young guild, that’s the only choice you’ll have:
- Camp capture: cap a supply camp and hold for 15 minutes. Depends on the map and the time, but even a single person can manage this, unless there’s a large group trying to take it back. North Camp in your home BL is typically easiest, if the opportunity arises.
- Sentry capture: cap 3 sentries; hold for 15 min. During prime time: nearly impossible even for a large guild. During off-peak: depends on havoc groups. Ideally, ask someone to help hold one or two.
- Cap & Hold: hold a captured camp until it reaches tier 1, which takes 20 completed yak deliveries. Annoying, but doable.
- Oasis challenge: collect 3 power cores. Easy enough; Desert map only
- Obsidian challenge: it says 5 players, but it can be done by the same 2 by repeating the puzzle. Reportedly bugged, so might not be doable by any guild.
- Supply lines: Complete 3 dolyak defend events in 20 minutes. Success depends more on the opponents than on you. Easier off-peak, of course.
- Rank: earn 10,000 wvw rank points within 30 minutes. That’s equivalent to gaining 2 ranks. Definitely one that you should keep triggering until you get it. If you’re lucky enough to get the right liquid WXP, easy.
tl;dr most of the easy WvW missions are doable by 2 people, although depends more on opponents (which is also true for large guilds)
All the capture missions require 3 guild members to be present on the cap. Escorting yaks also require 3 guild members to get credit to it count. The only WvW missions you can do solo is Rank points and Obsidian Sanctum (Oasis also was doable but skysplitter was removed from the game before the desert was removed).

If you have a cannon I am not sure why you would ever use a ballista. I don’t think that they would be a healthy addition to the game with this in mind.
You don’t build Trebs for somenthing you can hit with catas. Why would you build a cannon for somenthing that you can hit with a ballista?

IMO just make the repair hammer unusable on siege which is currently being operated because that is a very bad idea. Moving parts in heavy machinery is a great way to lose fingers. This conveniently fixes 99% of the concerns about repair hammers for siege.
Guess we’re going to be exposed to Dredge levels of work safety.
Cannons are like the final form of Ballistas. This can be useful hitting things Ballistas can’t. However, fighting under cannon fire never been a nice thing and open field cannons will be even more cancerous than open field arrow carts and ballistas are.

Quickness and resistance were never supposed to have 100% uptime. I don’t know why this is so hard to understand. If you think they should have 100% uptime from a totally brainless build, then maybe ANet should just make Pain Absorption and FMW grant a minute worth of boons and get it over with.
But… Anet hasnt done jack kitten to fix it, so it must suppose to be like this?
Because the fix is simple. Protection is a shareable boon but does not stack. Resistance is not a shareable boon and does not stack. Quickness is not a shareable boon and does not stack. Bam done. This can be fixed in minutes because the game already has these states available in the boon rules.
But nope they done nothing.
Honestly, knowing Arena Net new line fo work, we’ll have to wait for them to make a pool about this so then they can start working on fixing this that will be aplied in some future major update without a specific date.
Considering I’m seeing 8 stacks of stab being taken out in under 1 second, I’d say stab’s ALREADY useless.
You are not seeing 8 stacks of stability being taken out in 1s unless it was boonstripped. The icd on the stability stacks is working fine, otherwise the meta wouldn’t have shifted back and we would still be pirate shipping.

The only thing I would like to see nerfed on ele is Meteor Shower radius so it cannot cover the entire top of wall. The rest, ele is par with other professions, maybe even below some of them imo.
I’ve been running everything on high at 40-50 fps on a Radeon R7 240. Idk what kind of toaster you people using, but if my outdated GPU is being able to run that, you people shouldn’t have problems as normally all of you have better GPUs than me.
That’s pretty much it, all these polls, 2 season patch, but basically nothing changed in WvW from MY perspective.

That’s not really an achievement. Every schmuck can die on siege. Instead, the should be a title for getting killed by a siege ram attack. Let’s call it… “Hold the door”.
More like dying while trying to repair a gate.
Allowing us to sell them to vendor would solve this problem… I already sell lots of other gray junk such as spikes or porous bones that I get as loot anyway.

But before, we didn’t had the resistance boon and it was much harder to stack quickness than it is now with chronomancer.
It’s not just Chrono that’s ramped up the quickness stacking, it’s the fact that before HoT, quickness wasn’t a boon.
But even if it was a boon, the only ways you would get quickness on a mesmer would be from timewarp or signet of rage. All other quickness skills from other professions are self quickness.
Now you have Tides of Time, Well of Action, Seize the Moment Trait. And with Continuum Split you can use the quickness skills and signet TWICE. I sometimes roam with my friends on Boonshare Mesmer and sometimes we end a fight with still 15-20s of quickness left. The ramping on quickness is just absurd if you compare to base mesmer.
I blame the stale match up
Yup. It’s been YEARS now and every attempted fix has been a failure. Preventing stale match ups isn’t even hard to do.
Winner moves up 1 bracket, loser moves down 1 bracket.
BOOM. A repeat of last week’s match up becomes impossible. Four severs (top 2 and bottom 2) will only see 1 new opponent each week, but the other eight servers are guaranteed to play against two servers that they didn’t play against last week.
But they are likely to repeat every 2 weeks unless a major population shift happen.
I’d be happy if there was some kind of ascended food recipe that required these materials though. Food/Utility food that lasted an hour with slightly higher benefits or something. Considering just about everyone uses food buffs in WvW, it seems to me like it would be an acceptable alternative.

Well, I never open champion bags on a high level toon since low tier materials worth far more than high tier so I never get enough dust to fully feed up my Mawdrey by the end of the day.
Also I don’t take Keeps and SMC often, so Dragonite ore is also hard to come by to feed the Princess.
Empyrean Fragments in the other hand pile up like no tomorrow. Even with the Winter Star, I still have to throw some away every day.

Ok, now it sounds a bit more acceptable, however I’d propose a decay back to the original owner of the keep if no enemies are on the circle (You’re not holding the position so you deserve to lose it). It would make it a bit more fair as you would be forced to stay there and fight to keep the gate up for your allies instead of just cap it and run away to the next.

Just because I prefer the current state over what you propose doesn’t mean I like it either. We already have enough of blobs rolling over tower/keeps like if they were nothing and you just want to give them a way to completely bypass the only thing that is there to delay them. I actually would find funny if I had a flak cannon to one-shot people trying to glide over my walls but still… People can solo ABL keep lords, let alone towers. Things would flip left and right without anyone seeing and defense would become more pointless than it already is. Remember the no swords period? It would be pretty much the same.
Defense needs to be encouraged, and giving the attackers a way to completely bypass defense is going to the oposite direction.

Unless you give me some flak cannons, your idea is absurd.
Try & find a server with better coverage an move there, flip your day/night and get a night crew to fight them, just deal with it, or quit playing are pretty much all your options.
Not care much about the score is a good option too.
Dh had 3 outnumbered buffs (all except DHBL) and no queue.
Anyone who has paid for the game should be allowed to vote in the polls, imo. If they’re not a wvw’er, so what? Doesn’t mean they won’t play wvw at some point. They paid for the game just like those that scream about wvw here on the forums, so they should be allowed to vote.
They are allowed to vote. The problem is that since they don’t know the state of the game mode they are just voting whatever because “why not?”.

There was no partial reset. It will happen on the 29th.
Actually the best idea was one above somewhere, where the suggestion was that you couldn’t repair any walls or doors- I’d amend that to ‘while disputed’, but would certainly add to the fun of trying to keep a t3 once the outer is breached.
And would favor more blobs just you saying the hammers will.
I miss Arius and his rants, he was the last reason I still used to read the toxic-forums.

While servers like DH that has a notorious fair-weather population, brings out all the grandma’s and the kitchen-sink..

Well, there was another post made by a player as sticky but it was very outdated… Yours is the perfect replacement for it.
you cant cover up dead timezone, without destroying prime timezone. reason being that all servers that have specific off hour timezone have a healthy amount of prime population. you can’t link in such a way that it don’t overstack the prime and kill it with queues.
as for the glicko, they might need to manually adjust it since some of the glicko gap is too large, so large that it takes a overwhelming victory to move up. however, if they are not adjusting it manually, it can possibile mean that numbers between the tiers are actually significantly different from each other
I forget where the post is, but an Anet guy mentioned that they’re going to manually adjust the ratings on the 29th.

We intend to have a poll in the future asking if players would prefer that Glicko ratings be completely reset with each relinking of worlds.

So if a zerg comes along and outman you, it is now completely pointless trying to destroy the catapults they put down as you can suicide to damage them but they will keep repairing, meaning it’s now a guaranteed cap for the larger team, and you’re just throwing a loot bag at them.
If the zerg have supply to repair, they had supply to build another cata after your suicide run…
lol… remember.. you have to NOT be using the siege before it can be repaired. That is.. get out of golem, get off ac etc…
Other people can repair it for you while you man it. I don’t know about the golems tho since they change from object to character when they are being manned.
I belive anyone have access to the pool but they only let people who spend time on WvW know about them… Unless you tell to all your pve friends to vote in a pool, I’m pretty sure only people who are actually playing a bit of WvW are seeing them.
Also you gotta keep in mind that the people who post in these forums are a vocal minority, which means that the opinions of the majority are not/may not be a reflect on what is posted here. The mail telling people about the pool is sent to anyone who is actively playing WvW, even to those who never come to these forums.

- Why have Glicko ratings?
Strictly on the functional side of reasoning: matchmaking. No doubt within the space of all possible ways to calculate matchups in WvW (both pre-existing and unwritten) there exists one or more better solutions. Matchmaking in WvW is a very different scenario from what any matchmaking system I’m aware of aims to solve.
Ok, another question: Since we have to stick with glicko, why not reset the ratings when the links change since the population will be shuffled around? While I understand that it may cause some severe loopsided matchups (Not that we don’t have some happening right now) isn’t that a better solutation to the glicko walls between the tiers? The rating of the host servers no longer reflect their current population, even less with another world being linked to them.
