Crits have 150% base dmg with 0 ferocity, wtf you talking about? And no one actually NEED to have 250%+ Crit damage to do somenthing…
Most of the people currently run between 181-200% crit damage, have a reasonable high sustain, multiple boons with high boon duration, and still hit like kittening trucks thanks to the Power Creep introduced by HoT.

7. Power seep, the game already has a fairly low power level even in WvW (even more so in sPvP) no reason to lower it further.

8. Numbers > skill/preparedness would be even worse than rn as everyone would run the same few builds copied of metabattle.com

In a time where everyone complains about the Power Creep started by HoT, you come talk about Power Seep being bad? Give me a break…

Everyone pretty much runs metabattle builds already. It’s really hard to find someone who actually made their build. This would change nothing.

I would remove Conditon damage and have condition skills be a set damage, and only increase in duration to remove the stupid high damage/tick like now. conditons should be a soft cc and DOT.

Have you ever applied a condition without having any condition damage? Some of them are so low that you cannot even say that they tickle (such as bleed). Condition damage is a way to increase the damage overtime we do. Why should damage overtime be static while you can buff direct damage? If they ever do that to conditions they should just set the direct damage of every skill in the game and give them no aplifiers to make it fair.

Also, I’m still waiting these “condition bursts” everyone complain about… All I see are people mentioning them but nothing… Sure burn can tick really high (and problably is the only condition that can do so), but you need several stacks of burn for that which most likely will be cleansed even before they reach that stage (unless you fighting some moron who do not take condition clears).

But why should players have to try to negate the obviously unbalaned condis when anet could just balance it out properly! It’s their job to fix it, not ours to try an live with it!

Because they gave us tools to fight it. If you choose to not use them, that’s entirely on you.

Restrictions breed creativity because they force the player to problem solve. Unrestricted stats mean that players just grab the optimal, without having to do any problem solving.

Isn’t that what people do already? Go to meta-battle and take the build they find most effective and play it without thinking? There are even sPvP builds there, which means people don’t really do any thinking for sPvP either…

The imbalance is a result of the ability to burst with condition damage. This needs to be looked at. A build that can burst while only needing one stat to do so tends to be overpowered.

I’m still waiting to see these “condi bursts” that everyone talks about… zzzzzz…

That’s usually the case with pretty much every person that’s pro-condi. All theory and speculation based on stats on paper, without anything physical to back it up. Whereas there’s already numerous videos from top roamers disproving everything they claim when they say condi isn’t op. which is why i tend to just dismiss everything they say. Its all BS. Its just a case of bad players that don’t want their crutch taken away from them, so they argue with theories even though in practice what they claim isn’t the least bit true.

I’m still waiting for the proofs of the “20k-condi-burst-that-kill-anything-in-1s” that everyone claims that exist… It’s easy to show this happening with power builds (in fact there is a recent thread about that) but I never seen anyone show that with a condi build.
The “Anti-Condi” players also spell a lot of bullkitten without anything to back them up besides empty words. All theorical yadda yadda and no sustance. I too can make videos of me running a build with no condi clear and being kitten on by a condi build and claim that it is op. That’s no proof of anything tho…

“Come out and fight”. Yup, I’ll totally jump off with 3 people against the 25+ outside abusing the rune. Besides, Meteor Shower can hit 90% of the Arrow Cart placements and there are ways around the ones that aren’t hittable.

For arguments sake, when that heavy armored guy hits you with, say, an Arc Divider, you take 10k+. That’s because you had to sacrifice defensive stats to make unload do an incredible 8k damage.

Arc Divider is only going to be hitting 10k+ on a sub 50% health target. Even then it’s going to require might and zerk gear.

You do not need zerk gear for a 10k arc divider.

Problably a few pieces (like the trinkets) but definetely not the full gear… My warrior with little more than 200% Crit Damage can do 6k Headbutts and 10k Arc Dividers on squishies.

It’s not like you need to actively play for the 80hrs… You just need to get 195 participation, afk in some corner and cap a sentry every 15mins.
Also, I don’t get the “Basically you are a walking lootbag and will hurt your server more than help” argument… I know plenty of lvl 80 dudes who are more useless than competent people in upleveled toons. Besides, it’s not like WvW is queued 24/7 so there is plenty of space for everyone.
“Oh, and the PPK?” Caring about scores in 2k17, lul…

My armor in particular can not be changed in the forge as it was acquired through pvp.

Is that for real? I thought all ascended armor/weapons (no trinkets) could have their stats changed in the forge.

how does squad participation work if you nominate someone to be getting that? could the same system be used to give healers rewards?

Squad Participation only gives that: Participation. To get loot you need to tag people in combat to credit the kill regardless if you are nominated for getting participation or not.

If this is caused by Rune of the Guardian then it is an unintended consequence of Anet making condition damage affect siege.

It has to be unintended because it does not require the Guardian to be able to hit the siege.

If it’s unintended then it’s a bug or an exploit.

exactly and i WOULD NOT suggest using ruin of the guardian until then because anet has a history of lashing out at people who use exploits like this even if they did so unintentionally

So idea is nerf condi gear so much that 40 poison stacks won’t kill enemy fast? If i would be dev i would nerf this spec that can make 40 stack of poison. Well maybe i am just stupid.

I don’t even know who can make 40 stacks of poison besides Necro doing Soul Spiral on top of a Poison Field. And he need to be right on top of the target for that.
Honestly, I see a lot of people talking about these high condition ticks but I never see them, and no one ever bothered posting a screenshot of a single condition doing the 10k-20k bursts they claim that they do.

Good idea. But put some restrictions on it like only available at spawn or something.

I can change my build manually outside the spawn, then why should I be limited to be at spawn for this? The only logic limitation is the OOC part which is already a limitation even for the manual change.

Tactivator abuse fix

All Anet need to do is default tactivator use to guild members only (those with access to activate them). If a guild want to open them up they need to do it manually.

Eh, you can already do that by removing public activation. Only members of the guild with the claim can use it.

Condi is borked with this all or nothing design. Dire isn’t broken but it does take advantage of the condi mess. Trailblazer along with most 4 stat gear is broken as it has 10% more stat points. One piece here or there isn’t much but 10% in every slot is. A player would almost have to be a fool to invest in 3 stat over 4 stat gear in many cases.

Marauder and Commander armor also have 10% more stats than 3-stat gear, but people don’t come crying on the forum about them, only about the condition ones.

No, it doesn’t… What you have over there are servers linked in a battlegroup, and the teams in battlegrounds are composed with people from any server inside the battlegroup.

WVW matchup seems imbalanced?

Over the last several months, Anet has made several changes to glicko and to scoring that greatly increases the chances of having more variety in matchups. The downside of this is that it can lead to lopsided matchups with a dominant server rolling a matchup with servers from a lower tier.

The problem with the matchup variety is that the server populations and coverage are terribly imbalanced. The result is half the matches (or more) are complete face stomps.

If there was decent population balance the matchup variety would be a good thing.

Right now it’s just driving people away.

Staleness prior it also drove people away… There is no perfect system, but i’ll take varierity over fighting the same people for months any day. We get nothing from “winning” in WvW anyway. Why Should I bother if the matchup is completely loopsided in PPTwars?

i can hit 10k posion in 4 seconds on thief but normaly hit player for about 4 – 5k

The number on the tooltips are the damage for full duration. You’ll often see absurd values on them but you’ll rarely see their full damage go out (unless you are fighting someone that have 0 cleanses and no condition duration reductions). For exemple, my Engineer Blowtorch says it deal 17k Burning Damage. Imagine if that was for tick…

Oh. Fair enough. I don’t play engi but the one I often roam with complains about engi rng. Apparently half the time his smoke field is a reflect line instead?

Oh, that’s Toss Elixir U. But I don’t know why would anyone rely on that for smoke honestly. I think as it as a projectible blocker (somenthing both Wall of Reflection and Smoke Screen do) and if i actually wanted to toss a elixir for stealth, I’d go with Toss Elixir S.

I’m not going to quote every skill individually but I don’t think scrappers really need a nerf on their stealth tonic. I don’t even count their smoke field since its rng.

Smoke bomb isn’t random. Sure, there is a trait that drop one at your feet, but people who actually use it to stealth actually do it with the Bomb Kit.
But the Engineer (or Scrapper for that matter) Stealth everyone complains about is the Sneak Gyro.

I will remind the people who play thief and mesmer, that Stealth is NOT a profession mechanic. It is a game effect/mechanic.

Which is most prevalent in the two listed professions. Mind you that one of them have a entire trait line based of in this game effect/mechanic.

Btw bombing with mesmer does a similiar job already, tghere are some skills that when stacked and bombed in one place will take larger groups, still need alot of mesmers for that.

Imagine Gravity Well bombs without AoE cap… The ammount of tears would flood Tyria.

Another Spanish server is needed

You have already put the Spanish in their own box simply on the basis they are Spanish. Introducing a second server that’s not allowed to link with anything other than the first Spanish server is eqvivalent to increasing the size of said first Spanish server beyond the limitations of “full”.

It’s like having a siesta and running around in circles at the same time. It doesnt work.

The big difference here is that with a second server it can be unlinked should BB+New Server reach a imbalanced population level. Whereas leaving the server open indefinetely does not allow control over population.

Yeah, it problably would end with 2 server that would stand alone if people stack it hard. But you would still have a second spanish server open, thus not having a issue in keeping the first closed while it’s above the population threshold.

All EU servers bar BB have been linked at least twice. BB is a special case.
edit…Now I think about it, maybe Riverside or Kodash have only had the one link. I’m not sure.

Neither Riverside nor Kodash nor (i think) Elona ever had a link.
Anet stated, that they won’t link national and international worlds thus making it impossible atm to link these servers without reducing the total number of matchups.
That led to a lot of motivational problems on Elona (and to a lesser extend Kodash) with loads of peeps leaving for Riverside (which is now full as well).

Yeah, but stop and think: there are 7 German servers and 5 French servers which can be linked with each other to balance population with other server. It also give plenty of open options for players who desire to be in a server whos their main language isn’t English, but their own. However, how many Spanish servers there are? One: Baruch Bay. A server that will literally never have a link because Arena Net will only link National servers with other national servers.
So what happen to the spanish-speaking person that want to play in the spanish server if the only spanish server is full? They either go have a undesired experience in a international server or don’t play at all.
I am against opening full servers (except BG. OPEN BLACKGATE!). There is need for a limit. So keeping Baruch Bay permanently open is not a viable option. Another Spanish server is needed and it can be linked to Baruch Bay in the same way French and German servers get linked with each other. With the links they don’t really need to keep the number of servers as a multiple of 3 anymore. They can just reduce/increase the number of hosts accordingly. In fact, that’s what they wanted to do when they offered to make new smaller servers to try balance matchups better.

DH having access to a 1200 range pull on a potentially 30s timer was a poor design decision by ANet. At the very least it needs to be blockable, evadable and 600 or 900 range.

It’s not impossible to evade it. I don’t know about if it’s unblockable or not, but I know you can deny it by: Dodging the spear, Dodging the pull (tricky af, but works) or Stability through the pull.

I could get behind an idea where,

you get 3000 attribute points and can put a maximum of 1000 in each of 3 categories,

Offensive,
-power
-precision
-condition damage

Auxiliary,
-ferocity
-expertise
-concentration

Defensive,
-vitality
-toughness
-healing power

I would probably increase the conversion of precision to 25 = 1% among other balance changes of course.

That one would kinda screw power builds builds since you need 2 stats which are in the same slot. I’d say Precision is more Utility than directly offensive. But then again, it will conflicit with Ferocity instead.
Also, I used 3600 because that’s the stats of the full ascended pve armor we can currently get on WvW… sPvP amulet give 3000 for 3-stats and 3160 for 4-stats, which are significantly lower than their PvE counterpart.

Following the logic: One of them should always be open. The issue is that Baruch Bay is the only Spanish server (unlike German and French who have multiple) and the single option for spanish speaking players that (cannot/don’t want to) speak english. The creation of a second spanish server seen to be needed if the only one goes full. There are plenty of low populated servers out there which can be removed (if population wasn’t so low across the board we wouldn’t be having server links) in favor of that.

I agree to disagree then. Btw I don’t see how theorycrafting is even a thing seeing how few useful skills and traits there are.

It’s not about they being entirely useless, but how only a few are far superior to the rest. Honestly, the biggest issue still lie in the skill/trait balances. Changing stats might help amenize, but the root of the problem is deeper.

I’m sorry Xan, but I cannot buy the idea of having the amulet system in WvW. At least not as it is. I’m in the same boat of the people who complain that it would kill build diversity with the innability of min/max stats. In fact I too run several different stats on my gear to get to the point I want and it annoy me that I cannot play my builds I use to their full potential when I go to sPvP.

I do however have a proposal that could eliminate the gear treadmill while still allowing min/max’ing. A amulet that we can select the stats we want on it with certain limitations.

The biggest stat gain you can have from gear alone is if you play a full ascended 4-stat gear which grant you 3610 points.
The highest single stat you can have from gear alone is from the highest stat in a 3-stat gear which give 1382 points (ignoring the 1000 base from pow/pre/tou/vit stats).

My proposal is that the amulet allow you to distribute 3600 within all your atributes while not being able to go above 1400 in a single stat. (I’ve rounded the numbers for the sake of easier math).
The Sigils and Runes could follow the same rule as sPvP (you start with some and can unlock the others). However, I am not sure if certain runes should be eliminated just as they are on sPvP (Yes, I’m talking about Perplexity and Durability runes). After all, we’re trying to give freedom of choice, no?

Pros:
- Gear Treadmill eliminated. The only thing you need is a white weapon/armor, like in sPvP.
- Maximum Min/Max’ing (pun inteded) allowed.
- Being able to change stats without having to carry a whole bunch of armor/trinkets in your bag (altho you problably should only be able to change the amulet at a NPC in your spawn point or upgraded keep)
- Easy to leave default stats for non Min/Max players (Exemples being: Berserker Lazy Amulet 1400pow/1100pre/1100fer or Marauder Lazy Amulet 1200pow/1200pre/600vit/600fer)

Cons:
- Freedom to Min/Max’ing need to include every stat, which can end up bringing even more broken builds than we already have.
- This would allow things like 1200vit/1200tou/1200heal wetnoodle bunkers to exist.
- Crits with 1400pow/1400fer will hurt even more than the ones people cry currently.
- 1400Cdmg/1400Exper/400vit/400tou (/cringes)

I’m sure that was also part of the devs thinking when they chose to have Red BL be the Desert BL with the somewhat recent mixed-map changes.

So giving the most annoying map to defend is part of the grand scheme to help the red team? Nah… Since they added the RNG rolls in the matchups, the whole concept of red being the weaker server got flushed down. Honestly, I think they just picked red for DBL because Red was the BL in the middle…

Oh and I think Valley is much easier to take than Lowlands.

As Tiamat said, BB will never get linked and it will slowly decline if it’s kept at Full. It should be switched to High for a month at least.

If it decline it will go back to Very High… That’s how it works.

Likely it would turn into who shoots first scenario. So sure organized groups with voicecom etc, combo with stealth, would have an advantage. So what happens when the map blob does the same ? Gets everyone into TS, organize stealth and bombs the same way ? How do you respond to a map blob of 60+ doing this ?

You bend over and take it.

Anything that can be utilized by a small group, can (and will) be utilized by a large group and have more effect.

The borderlands would be perfect for small scale. Which they are already.

It’s a lot safer to roam in the BL’s because the zergs congregate in EBG for the most part. If you want a map that’s better suited to small scale, you already have it.

Let’s not mention that there is also that one map that even less people normally go…

Stealth and CC mechanics

Anyone ever seen an anet player roaming? they’re usually running in zergs, think they would know the day in day out pains of playing against stealth? No, so no point asking for redesigns cause Anet won’t bother. Balance in this game sucks, QQ.

I once saw a Arena Net Necro by himself taking camps in a enemy borderland. But It iwas during the Darkhaven pairings at the bottom of T4, so I think he was doing that out of necessity. There was outnumbered buff in every map.
