Profession B deals 10k damage, heals 5k.

I’m trying to explain that nerfing damage won’t progress balance if the class can sustain itself, whilst other classes have sub-par sustain and receive these proposed nerfs as well, because when you nerf these sigils/runes/etc you nerf other classes as well.

While this might tune down warriors else and engis, this will not help other classes. I want you to do the same type of video except crunch numbers and compare how much healing output every class is receiving. There will be no balance until everyone is in the same scale of healing output. Engis warriors and ele dominate in the area.

The thing people don’t realize is sometimes they have to suck it up and make plays according to where their other teammates are going. You can’t always expect random pugs to follow your every order. People think this game is about the solo grind; NO. The classic response from the guy with 0 pts at the end of the match is “I keep getting ganked” ya well may be you should adjust your gameplay to the way your teammates are playing. I know points don’t really matter but 0? Do you even tag kills brah? Expecting your mates to adjust to the way you’re playing is stupid, because it won’t always happen. If all your mates know map awareness is key, coordination should be simple and you should be winning those matches, unless your comp is completely countered or they just suck at playing their class.

Fix Your PvP Tutorial - Not Informative

The PvP tutorial isn’t very informative, and needs to be improved and needs to be mandatory to complete before entering a match for new players.

What this will accomplish: Players who understand the mechanics of PvP better

What should be included in the tutorial: Explanations relating to map mechanics, helping your team, and examples depicting the common class counters. i.e. thief vs mesmer or terror necro vs bunker gaurd.

I hope this doesn’t sound like too much but it’s just not informative enough right now!!!

LF High Level Pvp Rangers

Lixicety is former rank 1 ranger NA on the previous leaderboard. ( 33 right now)

She is also the worst ranger worldwide.

She doesn’t move, is bad at 1v1s and does not use her skills properly. She is actually so bad where I have come to the point of adding her to my friends list so I can see whether or not she’s in the hearts of the mist so I know when i should not queue up.

I’ve actually had teams that said to target Lexicety because she is so bad.

Please do not take advice from lexicety, she is only ranked because she plays so many games.

Bring SoloQ Back

Simple solution to all these problems.

Bring back SoloQ and this will save Arena Net the hours these programmers have been putting in to trying to solve the matchmaking issue.

Taking SoloQ away was the worst decision.

The previous problem was that SoloQ and TeamQ had un-equal rewards! And that is why people would SoloQ in TeamQ.

let’s request for a new sPVP sigil in our PvP Build Menu shall we?

Sigil of Corruption
60% Chance on Critical: Poison yourself (6 Seconds) and transform a boon on your foe into a condition. (Cooldown: 5 Seconds)

discuss on the %, cool down, basic functionality.

This is a stupidly overpowered sigil. Take into account Corrupt Boon on the necromancer utility bar is a 40 sec cd. It can corrupt a maximum of 5 boons. So in 40 seconds a regular player can corrupt 8 boons with this sigil. Give this to necromancers and it will throw us in the wrong direction, necromancers dont need more damage, they need more sustain mechanics.

On the other hand you will have other professions running around with incredibly better sustain than necromancers while still maintaining good damage. This would throw pvp out of whack more than it would with perplexity runes. Sorry but I do not think this is a good idea.

How can anyone believe that the problem is the Celestial Amulet??!

Can you please compare the healing elementalist and engineers have compared to other classes? That fact of the matter is that they have good damage and still sustain themselves VERY well.

Necromancer blood magic is overpowered.

Does someone have success with a life stealing build?

The only lifestealing that seems to work the slightest bit is from Minions and if you can get a full cast off of dagger #2 (long casttime)

lifestealing in general for necromancers is very weak, I don’t think you will find a successful lifesteal build for pvp, sorry.

I would not care about 3 thiefs in a team as long as I won’t get punished for profession change.

This honestly seems like a reasonable compromise.

Justin, if the class comps in matches can’t be balanced for whatever reason, I don’t think the restriction on changing classes retains legitimacy in that match any longer.

It does try, in fact the scoring on checks for duplicates at the team level. It’s just being overshadowed by other things.

Part of the problem is that mm is holding these players back, trying to find them matches where they’re unique… but eventually it gets overshadowed by other scoring rules (like the age score, which is used to compensate for long queue times) and they all dump into the same match.

Another part of the problem is we will not do anything about pre-mades with duplicate professions, other than the scoring penalty they take, but that only means longer queue times.

Double thief is a team composition that is the hardest on a pug team. Can you just obliterate having more than 1 thief on a single team?

anyone else feel this way? requires massive sustained damage from multiple sources to take one of these down, no chance 1v1. hammer is annoying, but sword/horn is crazy with the condi clears and bleeds. am I missing something?

Fix The PvP Tutorial For New PvPers

New players should have to complete the PvP Tutorial before joining any sort of match.

These new additions to the tutorial will outline the basics, while explaining what these task do for your team outlined in text.

The PvP Tutorial should consist of the following objectives:

  • Kill the enemy lord
  • Capture the Stillness buff
  • Capture the Tranquility buff
  • Capture the Ferocity buff (lol)
  • Destroy the enemy trebuchet
  • Hit the target with the trebuchet

If possible, bots should be implemented in the tutorial and should place the player in situations in which they need to disengage, revive their teammate, stomp the target and whatever else the community can think of.

Forgive me if there is something that is already implemented in the tutorial, I completed it ages ago.

Just curious but are all of you necros losing more than 50% of your 1v1, 2v2s, and 3v3s your coming across?

If you aren’t specced as a bunker you shouldn’t be able to “survive” outnumbered fights and almost no necro specs as a bunker.

I win most of my 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3
no1 should be able to survive outnumber just get away however given player skill difference that isn’t always true.

What class can use a zerk amulet and survive outnumbered fights for longer than a necro? How can one be Glassier than a necro ever be?

The two classes that come to mind are mesmer and theif, but I’m not sure running away counts as lasting.

Guard is glassier cmon man. Theives and mesmers can’t sit on a point and in the current meta will die to aoe unless they run away and we aren’t counting that right?

Warrior…. ok here’s the thing I really don’t have much experience playing one. I’ve dabbled a bit but I hated the way I felt on a warrior. BUT I know my experiences against them and I know it’s not very common to see a zerk warrior but as soon as that zerk warriors stances are done he’s ded. And I doubt zerk warriors would be running shouts.

If necromancers could escape as efficiently as thieves and mesmers I would be so happy.

I do not know if healing in DS is possible from the company’s perspective on profession design but would like to make a suggestion on compromise.

What if Vampiric skills still heal while in Death Shroud? They kind of suck as they are, anyway, so a few extra tiny heals at the cost of investing points in Blood Magic may a workable compromise.

Anywhere is a start man. We desperately need it.

Simply speaking, because only death shroud absorbs all damage, even already applied conditions. It also does so for an extended period of time. It’s not uncommon for me to spend ~10 seconds in death shroud every 30 seconds or less. Think about having Defy Pain up that often. On my spectral zealot build, that’s 2k health I’ve recovered from Unholy Sanctuary alone (frequently followed by up to 4k from Life Siphon). Even worse, my life force may still be at maximum after that period (yay Locust Swarm), meaning my opponents had no opportunity to counteract that healing. Healing while you can’t lose health is very powerful, and only Necromancers can’t lose health for very large percentages of the fight. Even 15 seconds at a time is not uncommon with no traiting (for defense). Condition builds have less life force, but they also spend less time in death shroud.

However, the flip side of this is that health is a Necro’s * only* real defense, which means to be relevant against multiple opponents, it’s unbearable against a single and balanced for a single foe makes it a speed bump for multiple. There are ways to make it work, but for some reason, ANet is very hesitant to give us those (hint: Locust Swarm and Signet of the Locust are great examples of how to make it work!).

Simply put, Necros are probably the hardest profession to balance defensively. I don’t feel any sympathy for ANet on this front, though, because they dug this hole themselves. Necros need help, definitely, but it is very easy to overtune things.

I’m ok with all sources of healing that come from traits I just don’t want allied burst healing. Still think if they give us all that healing, necros will just become the new engi and ele, except with the ability to see saw healthbars.

But it’s not like any of this talking matters. It’s not going to happen. So my presence here is useless. Enjoy never getting healing in ds.

So what is the difference between a warrior using endure pain and berserker stance but still receiving group heals and a necromancer going into deathshroud?

Deathshroud is a second life bar, yes. But it is a life bar that you need to build up, and it is somewhat difficult to get your life force into high life force territory, as opposed to someone using an invulnerability and eating 10k+ damage.

Not to mention that if you have 2.5k lifeforce and you are hit for 5k, that damage will proceed to affect your actual life points.

A necro is CONSTANTLY going into deathshroud. A necromancer goes into deathshroud to A.) sustain a little B.) set up the burst

You seem bothered by the fact that we are making the most logical arguments. I’m going to enjoy getting this buff lol.

It does have something to do with the strength of necros as it also has to do with balance regardless if anyone of you admit it. Just because it “makes sense” doesn’t mean it should be implemented as I’m sure it would cause a whole lot of balance issues.

I seriously don’t think that it would. Regen doesn’t offer anything in terms of burst healing, and it’s mostly not effective unless you’re electing for it.

We all know necros have issues wih sustain, and if you go full out vampire necro right now it’s totally subpar. You should be able to spec a tanky necro and if you could heal through DS, you could with current traits.

I don’t mean just the regen boon, I feel like the title of this topic is misleading since most of the time when people are talking about healing in DS they are not just talking about the regen boon and lets be honest that’s not what any of you are talking about either.

And let’s also not pretend we didn’t get healing in DS. We do. It’s not great we know but it’s a start.

In all my posts i havent said they shouldn’t give us ANY healing in DS I just think alot of people are getting out of hand with it. Now if they keep nerfing DS they will eventually have to buff something but I’d rather be given access to anti CC rather than buffing healing.

I don’t know why, maybe something just clicked with me recently but I’m not having any sustain issues. And I’ve been doing pretty decently even queueing up solo which apparently has been an issue for people. Hell yesterday we had a 4v5 game that we actually won, was a first for me.

How the heck is the title misleading? It says exactly what I argued.

I understand that you’re not against letting necromancers get healing while in deathshroud; and that’s great, but that does not defeat the fact that we get PUNISHED for having a boon that can be given to us unwillingly, and receive no benefit from it.

I just want to toss this in here:

Noscoc of The Abjured (top tier NA pvp team, WTS Champions) said that fixing this regen issue is a good start to finally giving necros the long deserved buff they’ve needed.

AND I am POSITIVE, if you take this issue to more top tier pvp players they will undoubtedly agree.

Regardless, this is an issue that must be addressed, and Evan Lesh (PvP Gameplay Progammer) told me he would pass it on to the designers.

Hi I previously made this post in the profession balance forum but it was archived and the conversation wasn’t over so here goes:

Regeneration’s effect, like all healing, is blocked by Death Shroud. Unlike some professions, Necromancers have no benefits simply for having a boon and get no special benefit from Regeneration specifically either. No runes will give a benefit for having Regeneration or generic boons either. As such, a Necromancer in Death Shroud is literally receiving no benefit from the boon.

However, there are things that punish the Necromancer for having the boon. Other Necromancers can corrupt it to poison via Corrupt Boon, Well of Corruption, or Path of Corruption. Mesmers and Thieves can steal it with Arcane Thievery, Bountiful Theft, or Larcenous Strike. Mesmers can copy it with Mimic, Necros strip it for extra damage with Spinal Shivers, or Warriors get bonus damage from Destruction of the Empowered.

Unlike traits or skills that get benefits from conditions on a target, the counterplay of removal is not present for boons. Nobody can end their own boon sooner than it would naturally expire. As such, the Regeneration boon turns from buff to liability when a Necromancer activates death shroud.

So, if you are given a match with essentially no chance of winning, you are docked a point for not getting at least 200 points against the uber team.

I’d do it differently.

So would we, sort of, which is why Courtyard won’t be in rotation once the season starts.

Hi I am “Zojoel”.

I am looking for a competitive PvP team to practice with and hopefully compete in the next WTS. I can play power necro & condi necro efficiently and have pretty good knowledge of rotations and strategy from watching the currrent leaders in the pvp scene on twitch i.e. TCG, CM, 55hp, Abjured etc

I have 1000+ games on my necromancer, 800 on my thief, and 500 on my warrior, but I am most interested in playing necromancer.

For what it’s worth I am currently rank 148 as I am typing this thread.

I can practice within anyones schedule as I currently have a lot of free time on my hands.

An old complaint: I find it more annoying that for most content in this game things like vigor, evade, block, reflect, projectile absorb, aegis, and combat mobility are far more useful than Deathshroud… which apparently is so good it precludes this class from any such ability.

A new complaint: Why are we the only class in the game with stun-break skills no shorter than 50 seconds in recharge? Deathshroud is apparently the answer.

Yeah there is no question that Deathshroud is indeed flawed.

Not true, I was in a pug group that quickly went down 200-0. One of out players rage quit and we came back to win 400-500.

To many people cry, complain, and give up way to easily. The whole idea behind courtyard is to work as one cohesive unit, not run around solo with selfish kittenty builds that only help yourself. Courtyard forces you to communicate with your team or you most likely will be blown out when facing a decent team.

That doesn’t necessarily argue that courtyard doesn’t snowball.

It’s a unique idea, although I’m not sure this kind of hand-holding is good (I’d cap the reduction to 40% tops). The damage reduction should also apply to conditions.

Perhaps split the courtyard into 5 “zones”:

R2 (at red spawn): Red -40% damage taken (including conditions)
R1 (near red spawn): Red -20% damage taken
C (main arena area): No change
B1 (near blue spawn): Blue -20% damage taken
B2 (at blue spawn): Blue -40% damage taken

I’d prefer something with a primary intent of rewarding positional awareness rather than hand-holding, although it would (at the same time) make spawn camping and forced respawns less difficult to deal with.

Perhaps it should come with conditions to prevent turtle play by a team who is ahead. Some things that come to mind:

- Buff starts at the “2 level” after player respawns, and only downgrades (to 1 and then nothing) as the player makes his way toward the center courtyard
- Buff can only apply when a team is tied or behind
- Buff can only activate when teammate(s) are downed or defeated (buff ends when teammate respawns)
- Buff has a 30 second cooldown before it can reactivate

Feel free to expand on this, or just call me crazy lol

I imagine Anet don’t want it to reach a point where a Warrior/Mesmer/Guardian/Engineer uses Endure Pain/Distortion/Shelter/Elixir S, Gear Shield at say 1/3 health and, whilst in stance/distortion/heal/shrink, block, is healed to full health by local water field blasts and other AoE heals. It would be an enormous buff to Warrior/Mesmer/Guardian/Engineer sustain. Not sure if it’s the sort of thing Warrior/Mesmer/Guardian/Engineer needs in sPvP.

None of those things constitute the same mechanic as an additional pool of health.

Yes, they really do. Endure pain has far better scaling than DS. Endure pain on a DD burst could absorb 10k+ damage. If the necro is fully specced into DS then he will get 78% of his life in life force, at 20k hp that’s 15.6k. If the necro is in DS for 5s he loses 10% lf naturally, leaving ~14k actual damage absorbtion. So already endure pain is near what DS is capable of and that’s just regular endure pain vs fully traited DS. if we start looking at multiple enemy situations then we would see that endure pain scales just fine, yet DS doesn’t scale at all. Endure pain is also ready to go where the necro needs to build the LF in order to use DS. So in a 1v1 DS is good, but passed that other skills that actually scale are flat out better. Why do you think necros get focused in team fights? A bit of extra health doesn’t stop focus fire, invuls/evades do though and mobility certainly helps.

Then outside of endure pain warriors get more endurance regen, more vigor, mobility, evades, stuns, blocks, a relfect, and flat out more armor. Are you really trying to tell me that having 14k more hp makes up for all of the above and it’s still reasonable that the necro can’t be healed in it? Warriors aren’t even the top tier of bunker either. Necros defense is DS spectral armor, and I guess plague form, that’s really it. The siphons/regens they have are near usless as one is so paltry and the other doesn’t work in DS, which is where a necro will be when they actually need heals. Finally let’s not forget to mention what an utter mess the necro weapons are. Sure other classes have a few bad weapons but for necro the choices are horrible for building a coehesive build. There is ultimately always a weapon skill on your bar that doesn’t really fit the build and is near useless.

maybe completing removing the respawn time, making it instant respawn, might be better. at least fallen team mates can attempt to quickly get back to their team mates, or the surviving members can try to fall back to their spawn point to regroup with their newly respawned team mates.

and the other team who was spawn camping may risk getting worn out due to battle of attrition.

this way, at least everyone may have a good chance to get some points for participation.

I think 5 seconds would be reasonable as opposed to the current 10 or 15? Forget which one.

Unlike playing in every other map, courtyard is really difficult when it comes to making a comeback. As soon as your team begins to go down, everyone is separated by the respawn time and cannot huddle together to regroup because you get a debuff and it kicks you out.

This map literally snowballs you to failure.

I understand you are kicked out of the spawn area so the team doesn’t camp up there, but it is necessary for your group to get itself together to make a comeback.

Unlike the other maps your team is not separated, and the pressure of damage is real.
Having 1 less member on the playing field really hurts your team.

THE SOLUTION

Shorten respawn rates OR allow players to wait a little longer in the spawn area so they can regroup with their teammates.

Open to more suggestions to making this map better!

Hi my character name is “Zojoel”.

I am from Canada.

I’m interested in playing necromancer in a competitive tpvp squad.

Power or Condition, whatever the situation calls for.

I have 1000 matches on my necromancer, 800 on my thief and about 500 on my warrior.

Ranked 80.

For what it’s worth I’m ranked 135.

I’m a good listener & communicator, and have good knowledge of counters, strategy, and compositions.

I’m ready to practice and I can work with anyones schedule because I have a lot of free time around this time of the year. I have absolutely no issues with travelling if we make it to PAX.

bumped because this needs to be implemented and the arena net team should be disappointed in themselves for after a year, still not having this mechanic implemented.

If i go into a pvp match, and its a bunker vs bunker matchup, i want to be able to adjust my build accordingly before the match starts without have 1 minute to do so.

If i am using my build for mobility to farm nodes and i stumble upon a world event, i want to be able to change my build so i can adjust for the event.

what is going on here?!

Know whats funny,

I was in multiple games yesterday, I noticed the pvp buff, wasn’t sure if the WTS tournament was going on and I asked a lot of people when the WTS is going to happen, like what day what time, etc.

Nobody had a clue about when the WTS was going to happen.

Goes to show AGAIN the marketing team for GW2 is slacking.

…. I actually wanted to see it live too.
If this game isn’t esports, if you had low twitch views less than 3k (on main twitch channel) like you always have, its not per say the streamer’s fault, this is an official GW2 tournament, its the GW2 marketing department fault.

I was looking forward to watching this tournament, but the way the marketing team of GW2 operates, I have to literally go out of my way to figure out when the dang thing happens. I even come to the forums and active member on it and I still didn’t know the exact time.

There’s a lot of slacking going on if you ask me. They need to hire some proactive managers to get those developers and marketing team start doing there jobs at the highest level possible. Not a, we gonna release a piece of crap and fix it by whoever complains type matchmaking/patch/new system, and a I’m going to send a tiny message some random place about the WTS (not gonna bother with getting more of the target market, just want whoever I have already and those who look intensely to figure out when its actually going down), after that, going to go eat me some donuts and sit back and watch some Netflix.

Annoyed that I didn’t get to see this, and I actually had time off and was able to watch this, but…. NOTHING, no communication to me about when its going down.
Was in game yesterday, saw the buff, actively was on forums yesterday, YET I didn’t see or hear or even nobody I asked knew WTS was going down.

See the pics, I asked, none of them knew, I asked in hotm as well, nobody knew.
Now I just realized reviewing those pictures angrily because I missed the WTS due to bad GW2 marketing team, that it does say WTS at top right.

Funny, I never even noticed that stuff yesterday because that’s like a spam area, nothing but a bunch of spam up there, the only thing I really pay attention to is the daily. I don’t really pay attention to that LS or spam area.

They should have sent you a mail, even that is spam area. They should have had some major thing dead smack in everyones way saying WTS and what time its going to be and where. They should have made it spam across peoples screen as they first enter into the game. They should have made a sticky on the PvP forums about it. They should have informed you on the forums and made you click an okay button to show that you know its going on before you can do anything on the forums.

So many things the marketing team could have done, but they didn’t. They didn’t ask themselves HOW BAD DO YOU WANT GW2 to be successful. Obviously by there show of how bad they want it, they didn’t want it bad enough.

I’m about to derail your whole post. Are you ready?

The time was specified on the Guild Wars 2 homepage. You know that place where you go to read about what’s going on in Guild Wars 2? You know those links that pop up when you double click the application on your desktop. The one titled WTS. It was on at 1am PST which is 4am Eastern time.

The double standard is just AMAZING. I don’t understand why NA gets crap when they use cheese to win and then EU is hailed superior when they do cheesy BS. And when NA uses non-cheesy comps they’re behind the meta while EU are heroes when they do non-cheesy comps.

Cheese is fair game when $25,000 is on the line. I’m surprised the community is still devolving instead of evolving at this point.

cheese doesn’t necessarily correlate with skill.
