Catching people with it unaware is the most OP thing about it. Make it a patch note so everyone knows it can do this and it’s suddenly not a problem.

8 seconds of utility on a 60 sec cooldown (while sacrificing the passive) really isn’t OP. It’s honestly a nice QoL buff and it’ll be a real shame to see it reverted.

The closest Skill that has Signet of the Wild is Signet of Might and that only gives 6 seconds of unblockable and doesn’t have all the other Rider effects like Stability, Damage increase and movement speed. This is clearly a bug that needs to be squashed, the fact that it has been in game so long amazes me. They really need to get their bug fixes shipped out fast.

Signet of Might also has less than half the cooldown and no cast time…..

Yeah let’s see again a skill that gives 5 stacks of Stability, 50%movement increase and 25% damage increase yes that is perfect for the 1 second cast time and 60 sec CD adding 8 secs of unblockable is the stupidest thing ever, they would have to increase the CD by at least 20 secs minimum for the sake of consistency since a 6 sec unblockable is 25 CD.

This is a Bug and should have been fixed shortly after it was found.

If you’re trying to make it sound OP you failed.
1 sec cast time, more than double the cooldown of SoM, and a huge tell (literally). And since rangers damage scales so poorly the 25% damage boost still isn’t going to fully down anything that isn’t 100% glass (not even then in most classes).

Let’s also keep in mind rangers high damage skills are rapid fire which is a 2.5 second channel (unless you are sleeping you should be able to dodge and avoid at least half the damage), Maul which is the most telegraphed weapon skill in the game, and whirling defense which roots the ranger in place.

My 3k armor warrior dishes out higher burst with an unblockable gunflame/decapitate than a glass ranger does, unless the ranger blows every damage modifier they have, even then the damage is pretty comparable.

I really can’t believe you can be defending a blatant Bug with a skill, you must rely on it a lot. Ermergherd 1 second cast time with a lot of effects would be nice if other one sec Cast time abilities had so many affects on them. It’s kind of pathetic when people try to defend Bugs.

……..so just to be clear, your complaint isn’t about rangers finally getting an unblockable attack to counter all the projectile hate that HoT added, your complaint is that a skill can do more than 1 thing……

Well if you really have a problem with skills having multiple effects good luck with your crusade against them because every profession has a ton of them. You’ve got your work cut out for you if you want to convince anet to change them all.

Remove or nerf downed state
Remove/Nerf radars
Reduce the zerging aspect
Lower the server cap again so there’s no more lag
Balance skills out ( Solely for wvw ),there’s too many noob friendly builds in wvw currently
Bring in a way to earn ascended armor/weapons by either gaining a certain amount of wxp points or by having an x amount of kills or in any other way,something for wvwers to work towards and actually have a goal to set.

What condition meta? The Epi Necros in zergs, condi bunk Chronos and ghost Thieves in roaming?

Those 3 builds constitute a meta now?

Hate to burst your bubble but condition builds are a niche in WvW. OP and 90% of the other people making complaints are probably just pugs falling behind their zergs getting picked off by roamers and are unable to deal with the conditions because they’re running a zerging build that rely heavily on teammate support.

Power and bunker is the meta, not condition. Two professions are over performing with condition builds, Thief and Mesmer, the rest are far outclassed by their power build counterparts. Any builds other than Thief or Mesmer using condition are only good for killing bad or unprepared players. There are so many ways to cleanse or deal with conditions now that they’re only relevant if you leave the player applying them unchecked.

Please, people… When making complaints about conditions at least try to make a more valid argument than “condtions too stronk, need nerf. Maybe remove condi stats or add another way to counter conditions” (on top of Resistance, evading, blocking, invulnerability and cleanses because apparently that’s not enough).

I wouldn’t even say condi thief is over performing. Power thieves are much more dangerous than condi thieves. The only reason certain condi thief builds (ghost thief) needs to be fixed is because there is realistically only 2 professions that can fight them, so even though they aren’t much of a threat on their own they are pretty much unstoppable when you have a small group running the build.
So yeah, needing multiple players to secure 1 kill doesn’t mean it’s over performing, but it is still absolutely broken.

Have to agree with Dawdler, P/P is much better for solo roaming. Hammer is great in small groups but it just doesn’t do enough damage solo.
Plus your going to run into a kitten ton of thieves while solo roaming and P/P absolutely wrecks most of them because almost all of them either rely on stealth or evades to remove condi’s. If they use stealth you just burst them and reveal them, if they use evades you just burst them and block/stealth while they burn.

The downside is people can completely hard counter you if they spec for heavy condi removal/resistance.

I think the better way to balance it would be to limit the amount of stacks it can transfer. Something like 6 stacks of burn, confusion, and torment, 10 stacks of poison, and 12-15 stacks of bleed.
Add an internal cooldown (the same way they did with CoR) so you can only be hit by epi once every 10 sec. That way if multiple necros pop it the damage is spread around the zerg and you aren’t being loaded up with more than the set stacks.

This would still make epi a pretty fierce bomb but it wouldn’t be insta death unless you are already low or running a full glass ele.

You can still move around, dodge, and use Flee and Kick to get away. But I’m assuming that you’re fighting condi chronos and don’t have access to condition clearing when moa’d, right? That’s more of a problem with conditions needing balance than a problem with Signet of Humility.

Ok, to lock a player out of their ENTIRE skill set in competitive game modes is bad. It doesn’t matter if the other form allows for other skills…

Condi clear has nothing to do with this topic, because you can’t clear Moa due to skill effect design and you lose all slot skills anyway while morphed. The two are not related.

He meant they can Moa and condi bomb you leaving you with no way to cleanse the condi’s. That’s the only real problem with it and that could be solved by adding a full cleanse to one of the Moa skills.

Would this functionality not make more sense for Signet of the Hunt?

If they’re going to get rid of this change/bug in the near future it might be nice to have the functionality shifted to a different skill rather than being removed entirely from the ranger’s skill set.

I used to think that was the right skill for it, I’m sure if I dug through my post history I could find several posts suggesting that, but now I think it works nicely on SotW.

SotW offers a very obvious tell for our opponents, plus the cooldown makes it hard to argue that it is OP when you compare it to similar skills like signet of might. If they decide to eat the full damage of our burst after we’ve suddenly grown in size they have no one to blame but themselves.

Still I wouldn’t be opposed to it going on SotH as long as it kept the 30 sec cooldown and remained insta cast. They’d probably have to drop the unblockable duration to 6 sec though.

1. Profession overhaul/balance ( I feel like most professions are on an equal playing field but the combat is boring as kitten, and now that the are willing to balance PvP seperately they need to undue some of the kitten changes they made for PvP/PvE’s sake. Confusion passive tick is a perfect example.)
2. Skill Lag
3.Equal rewards (shouldn’t have to leave WvW to unlock rewards tracks or get ascended gear)
4. Fix the kittening obstructed/no valid path bug
5. Add an internal cooldown to retal

And traps revealing thief would be even worse, since thief traps are already terrible and only used in ghost thief gimmick build.

You’ve never tried using needle trap on a condi evade spam build. You can pre-cast it with steal to load them up with immob, confusion, poison and bleeds. It’s also unblockable so you can bypass things like aegis. Once they blow their clears you hit them with basi venom and load them up again.

Needle trap is highly underrated. It’s also the only thing that makes ghost thief in any way effective and it should absolutely have some direct damage added to it. The other traps/caltrops are fine as is.

Unless they had 25 stacks of might and I had vuln on me maybe….. idk builds that tend to hit that hard are usually in mostly marauder/zerker, I wouldn’t take a 7k hit from anything that tanky, even ignoring protection and damage reduction food etc.

You must run across 0 warriors, revs, etc.
Hell I can run a remorseless build on my ranger and easily pull that off.

Between the HoT power creep, things like durability runes, damage modifiers, food/utility buffs, sigils, boons, etc. it is incredibly easy to run very tanky builds and still deal a kitten ton of damage.

The fact of the matter is most professions don’t need to get anywhere near that kind of toughness on power builds to survive. Toughness isn’t going to let you face tank anything anymore, the true bunkers are using blocks, blinds, stealth, healing, evade spam, invulns, etc. They just need enough toughness/vit to avoid being 1 shot when they aren’t paying attention (and that only applies to professions that don’t have passive skills to save their kitten.

If it is so powerful why isn’t everyone in that armor and condi build? People forget that condi does damage, but does damage over time, and that makes the whole difference. You have time to properly react to that. It’s much worse to get hit 7k instantly than get 10k condi on you that ticks for several seconds.
Condi is fine, it’s just that some builds aren’t.

Builds that hit for 7k instantly do not also have 3200 armour and lots of vit though….. .

SOS is the best server to start to learn, guild vs blob we always go balls deep ,and most good guilds out there starts on this Server once they got the skills ,they will moved to a more populated server or you can stay at sos 4eva we currently at T2 at the moment fighting against T1.5 servers ,we die we fight together win or loose.

The bold section is the only accurate part of your statement. It’s always hilarious to see your whole pug zerg running back and forth trying to pick off roamers. It’s like herding sheep.

I’m done playing devil’s advocate. While Jim seems to prefer ignoring the points I make about successfully managing the system we have, I don’t disagree that certain elements of the pet mechanics could use a QoL overhaul. I’ve said as much twice, I’m tired of rehashing. I’ll leave it at that.

First off, the points you made don’t apply in the situations I described.

Secondly pretty much everyone in this thread has been around awhile, I’ve been playing the game since the betas and GW1 since ’05. Pointing out the obvious is condescending and pointless.

Lastly, people playing devil’s advocate around here is getting old as kitten. There are a lot of things that rangers have needed to be fixed for years and every time they are brought up there is always 1 or 2 players arguing against a fix even when they don’t really care or in your case actually agree that the thing needs to be changed. This is why we see nerfs in <24 hours but it takes months/years/never to get things fixed. If you aren’t going to help than don’t bother typing.

BM/Druid/NM – I don’t even think an explanation is needed – it’s all defense.

Ummm that’s a power build…..
Ranger condi builds need either skirmishing (completely offensive line) or wilderness survival, most use both. Also, despite the armor they have far less survivability than the power builds because they have to drop boon duration for expertise and run weapons/utilities that don’t provide the same kind of sustain/mobility/utility.

I’m not sure I understand the remorseless change, you want to add swiftness to it? For how long? Kind of seems unnecessary with all the other ways rangers have to achieve it. Wouldn’t mind a couple seconds of super speed though.

I’d like to see Strider’s defense switched from sword to melee weapon. Still hoping for that main hand dagger in the next expansion.

And yes, as was pointed out in the first post I wrote in this thread there is definitely room for improvement in regards to pet interaction (and the AI). However, people constantly having their pets dying in various situations and blaming it on the system are incorrect for several reasons I’ve listed in previous posts.

Oh yeah, it’s totally OP. Clearly no other professions are getting such an OP skill……
And it’s not like SotW has the most obvious tell in the game (with the possible exception of maul) by making you and your pet grow larger, or that it’s clearly evident when you have the skill on your bar. It’s definitely unfair that people might have to pay attention to what a ranger is running and think about saving their dodges instead of just mindlessly cycling through their blocks/passive defenses.

This should definitely be nerfed so every ranger is encouraged to run the same boring NM/BM/Druid bunker build.

The “roaming” crew has boiled down mostly to unskilled gankers running FoTM builds in “skilled” guilds pretending they’re as good as that guy they saw on youtube three years ago. Since thieves typically can’t run in blobs and a lot of the mechanics underlying the FoTM builds are just unfun for the opponent/trolly, this is the result you get.

So yea it’ll bring a lot of toxicity when they can’t win, or they think they’re amazing and the best thief ever when they do.

There is a pretty good percentage of players just looking for the easiest/cheesiest win. Before the last round of druid nerfs I was getting the most rage whispers from them because there were so many fotm players that expected the build to hard carry their lack of skill and understanding of the class.
I bet a lot of those players swapped to thief after the nerf because even though thief might not be the best for 1v1’s it is still the best for running if they get into trouble. If you manage to lock them down and kill them they tend to qq.

Funny enough but the last salty whisper I got was from a ghost thief running with 2 other ghost thieves. He called my p/p engi cheesy after I revealed and killed all 3 of them when they tried to jump me. Perfect example of players that snagged a brain dead build off youtube expecting it to carry them.

Have you tried utilizing the options provided?

You’ll find that if you micromanage your pet to not attack someone while the enemy group is passing through they’ll survive longer, and that swapping pets automatically restores your pet’s health to full.

I’m not sure what you’re looking for here. Sometimes the pet will die. That’s life.

I know how to manage my pets, I know what options are provided. The whole point of this thread is to discuss better options because the current ones are mediocre at best. There are far too many situations where the pet is a liability and that’s only the case because anet kitten their development.

There is simply no arguing against the fact that there is a huge amount of room for improvement when it comes to the pets.

Bringing a ranger to a large group fight is your first mistake.

……….I don’t “bring my ranger to a large group fight”. I solo roam. During the course of my roaming I often encounter large enemy groups k-training or fighting, and being the annoying kitten that I am I start picking away at the fat kids that can’t keep up with the group.
More often than not I’ll have a sizable chunk of the zerg break ranks to try and chase me down and even though I can use leaps, stun breaks, dodges etc. to escape, my brainless pet gets snagged in the cc bombs and dies.

Sure would be nice if we had something like…. hmmmm… I don’t know, the flag system they used in GW1 so I can stick my pet in a safe spot since it can’t be used offensively in that situation anyway. It would be fantastic to stick the smokescale about 1200 range behind you so the smoke cloud is ready for you as your running.

But let’s just keep on pretending like the garbage control system (that is somehow worse than the original games) is fine because you can make it work sometimes, if everything goes as planned and no one is throwing around aoe condi’s.

Oh, and there was some mention of pets ruining the kiting effectiveness of stealthed rangers. If that’s the case, make sure the pet is on aggressive before you stealth so it attacks something instead of following you. Obviously this won’t work if you’re not in combat, but if that’s the case you can just stow the pet.
It’s just a bit of extra micro management, but that’s how ranger do.

We kinda saw him before he stealth. I was just surprised that he didn’t show up to finish our companion. I would.
I would look for him next time to see how a trap build could fight.

Well he either decided it’s best to get the hell out of there since he just blew all of his cooldowns, or he decided you all must be extremely new since 2 of you went down so easily to 1 condi bomb and he decided to be merciful.

Sure there is always 1st time for everything, including you. Read my sig to see if it applies to you. It must.

PS: I doubt you would understand its meaning & where it comes from. It doesn’t mean I’m saying you are stupid & assume too much w/ limited info provided, though.

This has been happening for several months. You cannot imagine how frustrating this is.

Let’s have a week of portable, free, and reusable ACs.

Every player can get’s a Superior AC blueprint.
They can place it wherever they want, and it requires no supply. As soon as they throw it on the ground a Superior AC appears there.
Once the player stops using the AC it despawns after 10 seconds.
Players can use this print as many times as they want, limited to one AC spawn per player. If they try to place a second down, the first disappears and the second one is build in it’s place.

I apologize for my errors I my last post .But my point still remains that its not that hard to make or acquire ascended gear.I have six full sets that I made myself and 1 set from just drops. I have changed the stats on those sets at least dozen times in the mystic forge . I have so many rings I’m salvaging most of them.Back packs.rings and other accessories are ridiculously easy to get in the new maps.Oh ya you don’t do PvE or craft .Well that’s your undoing.Why the heck are you even playing for.It’s like wanting to go to the Olympics but you don’t want to train.It,s getting to the point where people just want it so easy all they want to do is stand in Lions Arch and collect prizes all day for nothing.

I play for the large scale combat…….
Spending hours grinding away at this games boring kitten PvE doesn’t appeal to me at all.

Your analogy is flawed, it would be more like giving competitors in the Olympics advantages like being able to use a trampoline for the high jump if they spend their first 12 days working the vendor stands.

We kinda saw him before he stealth. I was just surprised that he didn’t show up to finish our companion. I would.
I would look for him next time to see how a trap build could fight.

Well he either decided it’s best to get the hell out of there since he just blew all of his cooldowns, or he decided you all must be extremely new since 2 of you went down so easily to 1 condi bomb and he decided to be merciful.

Thx for the helpful input! Planning my transition from the old version to the new version – all I have left to ask is this:

Is this concentration ‘hype’ dependent on the weapon set or does it work well with all weapon choices? I’m planning to use longbow + staff instead of sword/warhorn + staff and I really dont want to reforge my gear just to get to know that it only is good for a specific weapon choice.

Yeah it’s worth having. It will help you keep up might, protection, etc.
Your build is pretty dependent on boons.

That’s kind of the whole point of dot damage…… I mean…. do you wait until after a warrior lands decapitate before blocking and then wonder why you ate 10k+ ?

Blocks, blinds, invuln, etc. still all work when fighting condi builds if you use them at the appropriate time. This is exactly like all those terribad thieves that would complain about channeled skills and aoe skills still hitting them when they popped into stealth.

I’m not disagreeing that the hit was already landed and that it is the point of dot damage. While my conditions can be cleared, I can also stack up 10k burn ticks in a lot of situations on my warrior that will tick multiple times which is going to do more than your one decapitate. The conversation is about how broken conditions are and it is a true statement. Go watch some of my videos of me playing condi warrior and tell me more about how condi isn’t insanely broken.

It only ticks multiple times if players allow it to and allow you to put the stacks on them in the first place.
Everything looks broken if the player you are fighting doesn’t bring the proper setup to defend themselves. Just look at any pure PvE player wondering into WvW for the first time.

To the same argument, I am good enough at the game to not drop every bit of my damage on someone for them to instantly cleanse. I will usually drop one bomb on them, let them blow their cleanse then drop my next bomb which is a bigger bomb and lock them up, then I drop my burn combo on them. By the time you waste your cleanse on the first two smaller bombs that were enough to kill you, I’m throwing on a much bigger bomb lol..

Warrior is great at clearing conditions, so is Guardian, but most of the rest of the classes can’t clear them as fast as what a Guardian or Warrior would and it ends up being the death of them more often than not.

Seems to be a strange concept, but if you throw a good player on a condi build, they’ll normally beat great players on power builds. If you throw a great player on a condi build, they can be unstoppable in most fights even when outnumbered. My condi warrior shines its brightest when I am outnumbered because a lot of my condi burst is AOE. I have many videos of 2v1s and some 3v1s on my condi warrior that prove that lol. And sure, they’re probably just all bad players. I imagine that every person I fight is a bad player because it is incomprehensible to think that someone could actually be good at this game.

Your argument is based on the assumption that every one of your condi bombs will land, which means yes, those are bad players.
Good players don’t eat every hit you throw out and blow all their cooldowns after the fact just so you can bomb them again, but most of the good players have moved on or put in a lot less hours because anet ruined the game.

The fact that the game mode isn’t doing well has a little to do with the braindead additions they have made to it, but that’s not really the biggest issue. People keep talking about new maps, new rewards, new this, new that.

None of that matters if the fights are not fun.

The leader of my havoc guild used to make really cool videos from WvW footage, showcasing guilds on our server and so on. She recently came back and wanted to record fights and make new videos. What she found, however, is that the footage was boring as hell because the fights were boring as hell.

There is no balance, no diversity. It’s all particle showers and skill spam. Use whatever is off cooldown and let your passives take care of the rest. There is no push and pull, none of that “he used X so I’ll use Y”. There are no turtle guards who sacrifice damage for survival, instead there’s DH that has both. Or Daredevil. Or Scrapper. Or Berserker. Block block block evade evade evade invuln invuln invuln. 8k, 9k, 12k crits per skill.

WvW is all about the fights. The objectives, the map design, it’s all there to encourage encounters with the enemy. So when the experience of those encounters is nothing but the same condi-passive-block bullcrap over and over and over, is it no wonder that people leave?

The solution lies not with the WvW team, but with the apparently non-existent balance one.

How can I have 30k HP and 3.4k armor vs a full zerk warrior having 21k HP and 2.6k armor and still do more damage?

Because conditions can be completely negated with the right build/group comp.

I’d like to know how my warrior can have 3k armor, completely shrug off conditions/cc’s and hit people for 10k+ just by bumping into them.

Maybe it has something to do with the ridiculous power creep they shoved down our throats when they released HoT.

I’ve been up against a lot of warriors and I know how tough they are. But, I’ve never had one, ever, hit me for 10k or even close to it. I’ve never seen them “shrug” off conditions.

Granted, I could be encountering a lot of noobs, but they generally run power builds and rely/depend heavily on their blocks, evades, invuls and resistances while they try to power me down.

In the end, what saves them really is their speed and ability to disengage.

But, I have been hit dang hard by a theif. The hardest hit or most damage I’ve ever received was from a theif using vault skill.

Yeah you must be fighting some pretty terrible players. Besides the ridiculous amount of resistance uptime, they can keep themselves clear with cleansing ire, brawlers recovery, and savage instinct if they really want to go over the top.

If they have a decent amount of boon duration they can just rotate between their blocks, resistance, and cleanses + regen to fully ignore condi players.

Time and Time again ……havn’t played gw2 about a year now still no change in wvw
I’ve said take out the borderland maps…! A SIMPLE SOLUTION AND STILL THEY KEEP ON PURSUING USELESS BORDERLAND GHOST MAPS.Take out all borderland maps make a new eternal map…..problem solved.

Problem solved for 1 spamming zerglings…
Just because their isn’t a tag up doesn’t mean the bl’s are empty. I have no problem finding fights on the alpine bl.

Raw damage can be negated pretty easily too. Tons of blocks and invuln out there. Lets say I drop my condi bomb on someone and they use shield 5 on warrior, they won’t stop my condi damage from ripping them apart (yes I know, warrior has a bunch of condi clear, just using example.) That shield 5 would negate all regular damage unless it is unblockable.

Ummmmmm wtf are you talking about? Using a condi build doesn’t suddenly make all of your attacks unblockable. Blocking might not stop the condi’s already on them from ticking but it sure as hell will block their application.

That is what I was saying, it won’t stop the conditions that are on you lol.. I wasn’t saying it wouldn’t block the skill that caused the conditions, because obviously it will. What I am saying is that against a power build, they take no damage during that time they’re blocking, during a condi build, they’re still taking the damage that was applied pre-block while blocking.

I’ve abused the kitten out of pets when fighting rangers. They are prime targets for epi bombing the hell out of another group in small to medium scale fights.

I utilize the crap out of my pets when playing my ranger but they are a huge weakness when fighting smart players on certain professions.

They just need to bring back the flag system from GW1 so you can actually control your pet.
-This would keep it from revealing (allow you to misdirect opponents) your location when you stealth
-Sort out a ton of PvE issues
-Allow you to move/keep them out of AoE
-Allow you to place them far enough away that they aren’t a free target for things like C&D, cleansing ire, etc. when fighting certain classes

You guys don’t like having a giant message pop up in the middle of the screen!?

I’m just upset it isn’t happening more often. It should really blast notifications every time someone is marked by a sentry, or when the harpy event is ready, hell it should be announcing the pve world boss events because everyone knows wvw players are really all pve players……

Really the only practical thing to do is have a constant cnn style news feed scrolling along the screen and obviously the best placement for it is directly in the middle of the screen so we don’t miss out on the info.

I hate the idea of adding ascended armor to pvp. I hate it even more in wvw reward tracks. People should be coming for the game mode. Not for the armor

You’re missing the point.
The armor/stats are already available in PvE and now PvP. For those of us that hate those game modes acquiring them is a mind numbingly awful grind. Not having them available in WvW forces players out of WvW

Our choice is to leave WvW and play something we hate to stay competitive, or continue to play at a disadvantage.
