LGN

How about they change it, we live with it for a couple matches and see how it is BEFORE we start criticizing it and asking for it to be removed. You may be right and it doesn’t work as well but we probably won’t know all the ramifications both good and bad until they try it.
We tried it, 5-4-3 is the same as 3-2-1.

This is an idea that sounds great until you realize that the current game has unbalanced matches, so it becomes a huge bonus for the side with more coverage/population, which is never a good thing.
It’s still a good thing. The higher populated server is still forced to split up to hold their camps which means they can’t just roll around with 1 massive blob.
Didn’t they change the damage and defense boosters so they only work against npc’s?
What do you miss out on when the enemy uses alt-F4?
The satisfaction of a stomp on someone you worked to down?
I find it much more satisfying that I made someone rage quit, plus it saves me time.
BUILD THE WALL
MAKE YAKS BEND PAY FOR IT!
What may seem like boring dialogue to some is seen as interesting storytelling for others.
Just putting that out there.
That’s why most games include a skip option.
I’m already being forced out of my preferred game mode to unlock reward tracks, do I really have to sit through half an hour of dialogue for every 5 minutes of action on top of it?
The next world link is February 24th.
You all previously mentioned shortening the links to 1 month, any news on that?
I have an account on JQ…. it’s not a lack of players that prevents that server from being competitive….
]
im not for WvW being able to purchase ascended gear for WvW currecny. because you’ll just want people to come for WvW just for ascended gear and leave, thats now how you maintain a healthy population. we had this same issue during Christmas with PvP where people would leave WvW, making the game mode a wasteland on all sides, just to get ascended gear in PvP.
if they gave you more gold for playing in WvW, that im kinda for. because they can just buy the matts for the ascended gear or the exotic armor they need. or where cool kids do with their gold these days.
so thats why i can’t agree, but i understand your opinion, and it does have some merit to it. it just doesn’t help the little guys new players experience to get access to gear that he may never need
That would also encourage a lot of players to try out wvw who currently have no intention of doing so. I met a lot of people that grudgingly came in for map completion, ended up loving it, and never left.

no internal cooldown…..
2-1-1 is bad and Anet should feel bad. Its a good thing theyre changing it, the sooner the better. If you are the worst server out of the 3, there is no way you can win because you’ll only get 1 point even if you place second * every single * skirmish. It’s no fun at all.
If you’re the worst server out of the 3 you aren’t going to win anyway…..
On the 3-2-1 system reliably coming 2nd by not coming 3rd could make for a close match up towards the end, now if you reliably come 2nd you will reliably come last in the match up and it no longer becomes close.
This 2-1-1 system is stupid and shouldn’t have been brought in at all.
That’s changed how a lot of people play. Instead of focusing on keeping the weakest server down the second place server has to go after the first place server in order to win some skirmishes. Maybe it hasn’t been working out well for your server but it’s made a lot of match ups much more interesting across several tiers in NA.
Now if they would just fix the boring combat…..
This scoring system is producing closer looking games but it’s completely wrong in representing how a match up went, at least the old per tick scoring accurately represented how much you got pwnd by.
On the flip side the closer looking scores keep a lot of fairweather players from quitting early in the week. As the OP pointed out, a lot of matches are coming down to the last day.

ok for sake of comparison.
non hot gs war
marauder gs war
yes marauder has more overall stats. yes you will crit more. will you do more damage in a build with hot gear then without? that depends entirely on what build you use and how good your enemy is. obviously it doesn’t matter how high your crit is if the enemy is competent enough to not sit in channeled or pulsing damage.
That argument makes zero sense.
Why do you all still humor him? When he once again loses the argument he is just going to delete the thread again.
I remember this idea (or something similar) being suggested when the auto upgrades bullkitten was introduced. I’m definitely in favor of this idea, anything to split up the blobs is a move in the right direction.
What can’t be burst down can certainly be whittled through attrition.
Yeah…. that’s not really true anymore.
Increase the AoE cap on skills to 5 targets from 3 would be a good start. Druid in particular has a lot of tools that grant it the theoretical capacity to be strong on the frontline in WvW, but are outclassed in practice.
In a general composition crafting sense, Druid most directly competes with Scrappers and Tempests for a space in a party. What do those classes bring that keeps Druids out of being considered for a spot in meta group compositions? Escapes are part of it. Blink and Elixir S are strong skills that allow those classes to correct their positioning mistakes for free while Druids lack any way to “freely” escape.
Besides that, the sheer utility of Aurasharing (essentially perma frost aura, access to earth aura, shocking aura, etc) on top of the healing and AoE potential Tempest have make them a very unique and easy pick for WvW compositions. Scrappers, meanwhile, bring their AoE healing, AoE cleansing, damage reduction, superspeed fields, and great melee capabilities on top of unparalleled reflect up-time.
Druid just doesn’t bring anything unique that’s also practical for WvW.
As for the dead pets question…. there’s no real fix for them that doesn’t break them when it comes to fight scaling short of a redesign that will never happen. The best general sort of idea is engagement scaling like PvE creatures scale (and WvW lords and such) purely for defensive stats, but that would be a very complex system that would also have to be incredibly fine tuned, and while a system like this should be in place for ALL player generated AI entities in WvW, the likelihood of that sort of balance direction/overhaul this late into the games development would really only occur if there was money to be made from doing so, and I get the feeling that it isn’t very high up on ANets “fix list.”
Pet’s just need the PvE treatment. Let them take full damage when targeted but give them the 95% damage reduction to aoe attacks. Also make fortifying bond baseline so they get access to stability without completely destroying build variety.
As for the lack of utility, they just need to change spirits to wisps. Let them circle around you and 4 allies giving the buffs and damaging any enemies they hit, and the active will detonate from the players locations. Maybe make 1 of them a stun break or change nature’s vengeance so that detonating a wisp breaks stun.
The worst part is when I jump trying to get my shots to land and then get immobilized in mid air which completely kittens me over because then I can’t use any skills including stun breaks or condi clears…
Why the kitten after 4+ years is the god kitten ed ground still obstructing my shots in WvW!?
I know you will never get around to fixing all the terrain glitches and invisible walls in the WvW maps but there has got to be a work around for this. Make the arrows arc more, make them fire out of the air above my kittening head, I don’t care, just fix the kittening problem.
That might have worked a year and a half ago when there was still a decent amount of GvG guilds left but most of them were driven off by HoT.
Dbl will never be the best but they could definitely improve it by removing the stupid shrine effects or changing them to something less gimmicky.
However the WvW-Part of that is completely out of balance….
I absolutely agree. You don’t have to spend anywhere near as many hours in WvW as we do in PvE to get a legendary.
Meh happened to me months ago, no one cared and it won’t change. Was down before I could react, basically only an auto skill would have saved me. Wasn’t even full zerk either.
Good luck with the balance crusade, I don’t see anet giving two figs about it.Thief was within 1200 range of you unstealthed blew 4 long CDs to land two Hits, no different then most big hits that happen in WvW, it sucks when it happens but WvW will never be balanced, you will never see those numbers in PvP just because less stats and less damage modifiers. Fun fact you can get hit from a well setup maul for 18k in PvP the Ranger was super glass and died when sneezed on though, that was the biggest hit I have seen in PvP to date.
So far the classes I know that can land over 20k hits in WvW are Revenant CoR doesn’t need any setup just hit CoR and can easily achieve over 15k damage, Warrior with Gun Flame, Warrior with Arc Divider hits for over 15k easily, Ranger with Maul can hit for 20k with setup, and Thief running full Signet with setup on D/D with Berserker gear. I haven’t seen other classes achieve anything higher than these ones.
Huge difference is that Rev and Warrior have huge tells, AKA Telegraph on Rev and “Cast” animation on Gun Flame. The range only means kitten on blob fights, thieves just deal the damage from literally nowhere (stealth spam cancer).
Edit: And for Rev at least to deal above 15k+ crit against a glass build you pretty much need to have the stars aligned.
Are you saying Maul doesn’t have a huge telegraph? Because I’m pretty sure it’s the most telegraphed weapon skill in the game. The ranger literally has a huge bear appear over his head, the only way that could be more telegraphed is if they replaced the bear with a big neon sign saying “dodge now!”
And no, to achieve those numbers the thief isn’t appearing out of nowhere. They will be running d/d with signets which means they aren’t “stealth spam cancer”, they are full glass, blowing multiple cooldowns on 1 big burst. This means if you sneeze on them they will die, if they try and burst 1 of the multiple professions with a passive defense proc they will fail (and likely die).
The real “huge difference” is the ranger and thief burst require multiple traits and utility skills to pull off 1 big burst every 40 seconds or so, where as the rev and warrior’s attacks are basically spammable and don’t require a sacrifice.
I might have the best idea regarding thieves/daredevil. As a daredevil myself, I have seen enough of complains about how ‘OP’ we are. So my suggestion is to change thieve/daredevil skills to dance moves. So we do not fight, we just focus on dancing and playing fashion wars. How about that?
There’s another one I’m waiting on called Blessed Online that allows customized skill system similar to the 8 skill bar system in GW1, holy trinity (healer, dps, nuker possible), you can set what skills to activate when you press 1 – 9 with specialization branches after you reach a certain level (for example Cleric -> Priest, or Cleric -> Paladin tank, still in beta, they’re revamping their skill system even more for NA release in 2017, check it out:
Custom skill system setup: https://youtu.be/UnzmzoDWF6I?t=8s
Realm vs Realm (custom build ranger): https://youtu.be/1_XaNSXpzSE?t=43sI’ve been looking around my self, incase the 4th just does not cut it for me, any recommendations other than black desert and FFXIV?
It looks interesting but it’s being published by Aeria Games, which means it will likely turn into a kittenty P2W crapfest.
Yes, it does.
Message Body length must at least be 15.
Oh that’s nice. I didn’t think it’d work if you already had the buff. So if you fire off Rage as One, you’ll get Opening strike several times since it pulses Fury?
Yes, you’ll gain three Opening Strikes from Strength of the Pack through Remorseless (as will your pet). You may also be interested in Rune of Evasion (5 out of 6 runes), that grants fury when you dodge (icd 10 seconds).
Just want to emphasize the importance of not taking all 6 runes for anyone that is wondering. The bonus on the 6th rune does an aoe attack at the end of the dodge roll that will consume your remorseless proc, wasting it on a low damage attack.
Simple – add a direct damage component to their traps and caltrops.
Just needle trap, that’s all it would take.
Without the immobilize they wouldn’t be able to stack enough bleeds to cause any real damage.
Simple tip. Learn your class, then learn the class you need to beat. I’m playing trapper thief so I can better understand how to defeat them. Once you play a spec and learn the mindset, it becomes that much easier to counter. I only started playing this build yesterday and i have enough knowledge to counter or beat 97% of the ones I come across.
If you consider running away a counter……
Hard to counter? It’s main counters are condi clear and you moving on…
Sigh……That’s not a counter.
That’s like saying logging off the game is a counter because they won’t be able to attack you if you’re not playing.
The last thing WvW needs is to add another set of calculations onto the server.
Or more passive play.
I can still remember my commander, long since gone from the game, who would say when the enemy zerg’s stability or might was going to be up. He would then coordinate our actions based upon his internal clock that kept track of those important boons.
Since he left the game, after HoT, I haven’t heard a commander in TS that keeps track of things like that. Does anybody still do that or did boonshare kill the need to do it?
Boonshare/duration/rev’s killed the need.
+1
Give the linked servers their identities back.
GL AR, I hated having to move my alt account but there was no way I was going to spend months linked with YB.
Undecided but leaning towards no.
HoT pretty much ruined WvW and they seem more concerned with making the next expansion than they are with fixing the problems they created.
The only way I’ll even consider buying it is if whatever new gear, specializations, etc. can be acquired 100% through WvW. I just can’t grind through any more terribad pve to stay up to date..... I just can’t....
Lol I started changing your build in the editor and then I saw what Justine posted, she pretty much made all the same changes I did.
The only real differences were I went with sig of intelligence instead of leaching on the GS, Quickdraw over MDG, and for the pet I went with BB instead of the wyvern.
With a base ranger build quickdraw really increases your chances of survival since you can double stealth, double knockback, double swoop away, etc.
And if you’re not in danger the double maul/rapid fire are a nice bonus.
The last thing WvW needs is to add another set of calculations onto the server.
Or more passive play.
Wrong, you have to make stealth less accessible.
Thief is the only class that is always in a top spot in wvw roaming since GW2 and that’s because of easy access to stealth, high mobility and great damage.
You still can outrun most players without stealth but you have to play more carefully.
“If a thief runs from you, you won your fight” is just the poor excuse for being overpowered. A thief should die the same as any other class in this game when making mistakes – yet, it doesn’t.
Thieves die all the time…..
What’s with this “stand in black power” idea? Are there thieves dumb enough to use it so close to another player?
Since 90% of the thieves that run that build don’t have a brain people actually consider this to be a counter. The problem is it’s absolutely not a counter when you run up against a competent player that decides to run ghost thief for a laugh because they are bored as kitten of the terrible combat we’ve had to deal with since HoT.
If you’re not good enough to fight this build, or smart enough to figure out how, then just don’t deal with it and run in the opposite direction. Why waste your time trying to kitten measure in a 1v1 you’re not skilled enough to win, then due to lack of understanding, complain later on the forum?
There is no profession that can’t run away from this build.
Lol found the ghost thief.
There is no skill involved in a fight with a ghost thief for either player. It’s just a matter of being on one of the few builds that can counter them, depending on the ghost thief to be absolutely terrible and fall for things like accidentally revealing themselves, or just completely ignoring them and moving on.
For example, about 3 weeks ago I 1v3’d a group of ghost thieves. It wasn’t because I did an amazing job of outplaying them, it was because I was roaming on a P/P scrapper that could reveal them which completely negated their condi removal. The fight was over in literally 5 seconds, maybe 15 if you count fully finishing them off.
About a week later I was on my ranger and put a stealth trap down in the middle of the fight, stood on it, and the thief was actually stupid enough to reveal himself. The worst part is it was at SW camp where he could have easily ported up to the ledge to escape but he tried running into the camp instead at which point I proceeded to blow him up. (and then he sent me a QQ whisper about stealth traps being cheese lol).
Any competent player would have easily escaped in that situation, just like any competent player won’t just heartseeker into you when they see you standing in their BP. They will just move off and try again at their convenience, or move on to an easier victim. Relying on them to be terrible isn’t a counter.
Played the spec once, haven’t died to one since.
Oh man, you sure negated my argument about standing in the black powder! Please share more about how the “good” ghost thieves will move off IN STEALTH and try again. With all that stealth they still have after eating 5 initiative on an unused black powder. Oh, you mean they’ll run out of stealth? Leaving you to see them put down another black powder not so far away, unstealthed? Where you can stand in it again? So they waste more initiative? I concede, you’re so much more knowledgeable about initiative cost, situational awareness and stealth duration.
TL;DR: a slightly sarcastic L2FP
Because “good” ghost thieves won’t over commit and wait until the last second to stack stealth. “Good” ghost thieves will still have blinding powder available if they find themselves in a bad situation, and that 4 sec of stealth + super speed is plenty of time to get some distance to stealth some more. “Good” ghost thieves will still have plenty of initiative left to shortbow 5 up to a ledge, or to a doorway depending on what’s nearby.
I absolutely did play the build to learn it’s weaknesses, just like I do with everything. What I found was that I was unkillable in small fights unless someone had an aoe reveal and then they managed to lock me down with chain cc’s, this usually took multiple players to pull off. This doesn’t mean I killed everyone I came across, anyone with adequate condi removal could basically ignore me because the build doesn’t have enough pressure, but it is without a doubt the safest build in the game if you have half a brain.
TL;DR: If you couldn’t survive someone jumping in your black powder, L2FP.
JQ needs to be higher than TC on that graph.

It’s a fair trade when you consider how organized groups abuse the high health pool to load the lord up with condi’s and then 1 shot people with a ridiculous epi.
If you wanted the Dev’s to read this you definitely posted in the wrong place. They swing by here once every few months and you just missed them.
They think the evade in the auto attack justifies the low damage.
@Jim Hunter
Yh that makes sense, transfer 30 ppl to play with 5, instead of the other way around. -.-
By the same logic, T1 and T2 would be a carousel of leaving guilds and be left as zombie pug hordes. Good work.
Also, the ladder would become stale. Guild was made when Deso was r10, now we’re punished for becoming established and landing Vabbi as partners for 2 months. Go figure.
Now T1 is locked into bickering over PPT coverage (literally no guild cares) and waiting till the casuals leave as we ship rating like crazy.
Is there actually a WvW development team? or is it an Urban Myth?
If your guild really cared about them you’d transfer.
When has locking servers balanced T1?
When has unlocking full servers balanced anything?
This is TOTAL BULLkitten.
We have guild members on our linked server (Deso + vabbi) that were hoping to join us once de-linking occured – but held off in-case there was a slim chance the whole linking fiasco was going to be rebalanced. Now they are stuck and can’t play with the guild.
Why the kitten did you not announce this before hand!!!???? No clarity, no transparency – are you surprised no one thinks you’re capable of providing any meaningful solutions to the hole you’ve dug for WvW?
Lowering the population cap makes no sense as it is. You’ve already handicapped us with shoving Desert BL back in our faces (which no one ever plays on in prime), now you pull this sneaky kitten.
Sort yourselves out, its getting amateurish.
Great Combat, Great Community, kittening kittene Support.
Maybe we should start opening our own community forums to get ready to move teh community to Crowfall or Camelot Unchained. You’ve pretty much blown it Anet.
You know your guild could always move down to join them on one of the open servers.
That’s kind of the whole point in lowering the pop cap, to spread the population out…
Retal does affect the “condi kittens”…..
Conditions don’t just magically appear on you, your opponent has to land his hits to apply them.
Also remove their teleports because thieves are entirely to mobile, oh and please remove thief weapons entirely, their spammable attacks are ridiculous.
Isn’t it just a sure way to drive players from the game entirely?
Particularly if there’s some sort of indicator to say someone has a bounty on them, that sounds like a recipe to make the game very unfun for anyone who’s caught the attention of someone with gold.
I think the players that would quit over having a bounty placed on them probably wouldn’t ever have a bounty placed on them anyway lol.
Nope the problem is people whining…..
Yeah the whining is pretty annoying, maybe you should just take a break from posting so we don’t have to hear any more.
Yeah I am whining so much when all i have stated was for Anet to fix a bug since there is no proof showing it is intended, but nice attempt at a redirection, but that’s all we will ever get from players like you that defend bugs to be relevant. Eww the salt is real with you.
Lol okay buddy.
I’m just going to refer you back to OGDeadHead’s last post.
You take care now.
Nope the problem is people whining…..
