You need to add better rewards that don’t promote bandwagoning. Instead of increasing rewards for winning the Skirmish/match just guarantee better rewards for the things you accomplish (capturing/killing) but add diminishing returns based on the amount of players that helped.

So solo capping towers or keeps should guarantee exotic with a high chance for ascended drops. Each additional player that helps should lower that chance by about 10% until you hit the current drop rate (should never be 0% chance).

This encourages more players to go out and get stuff done without relying on a commander. Which means less coverage gaps (because smaller groups will be willing to run), less blobs, and it may even encourage players to move to lower pop servers.

Not to start a debate but are you really comparing all PvE challenges to open world event farming? That is supposed to be easy! There is much harder PvE content in game.

I’ve tried it all. The “harder content” is just a dps test with a few dodges thrown in when the npc begins its massive tell.

I think this thread exemplifies the challenge Anet has with regards to getting guilds that want new members to move to smaller servers.

Agreed – we only see it every single week….. And every single week the answer is move or whither – the guild’s choice….

and most guilds would rather whither than move. Which is why adding a bunch of small servers and no incentive to move would be a waste of time.

Since a lot of nameplate suggestions are coming up in this thread I figured I would let everyone know that the simple nameplate feature will be coming. Simple nameplates will be an option to replace either enemy or everyone’s names with a colored icon – red, green, or blue – and the only thing that will show besides the colored icon is the guild tag and commander tag. We want to reduce nameplate clutter in WvW and not add to it, which is why a nameplate suggestion was not one of the 3 proposed solutions. Also it should be noted that titles do not display in WvW (outside of a soon to be fixed bug where they display to squad members.) So displaying your world name through the title system would not be a good solution either.

If this feature is optional how does it invalidate the idea I proposed?

If anything this option to use a colored icon only strengthens my suggestion because you can no longer use the argument that casual players will find the system confusing. Anyone that can’t remember what server they are on or what paired servers they are fighting can just turn on the simple nameplate.

For the rest of us (especially roamers) that like to know who we are fighting, or fighting alongside, we can keep the simple nameplate off and learn what server everyone is on.

I’m finding all the classes far too easy in PVE. Any chances of some changes?

I took my alt to whatever the kitten that HoT map is where the juvenile tigers are and my guildies convinced me to stick around and do some of the events with them…… I literally fell asleep.

I used to have so much fun in GW1 PvE, they just made this game far too easy to bring in the casual candy crush crowd.

Class balance IS a problem in wvw since launch. and still ignored with so many posts about it over the years.

Could you explain how it is a problem.

It’s so bad I don’t actually have words right now. Not because one thing is in particular broken, but because the things which have been OP and horrible since launch or near launch have often been repeatedly improved upon and nerfed respectively, since, as though those in profession balance just actually do not know what they are doing, and are unwilling or unaware to do necessary reworks/re-design of poorly-designed skills, abilities, and traits.

+Powercreep from HoT.

Class balance isn’t really the problem. The problem is the HoT power creep/cc spam/passive bullkitten has made the game boring and killed build diversity. It’s basically forced you into grinding for HoT gear so you can run a low skill floor build that is way stronger than it should be in order to stay competitive. To be as effective on a vanilla build you have to play about 10 times better.

Just use the suggestion that has been proposed numerous times since you linked the servers.

Color and server abbreviation. For example this week in T2 you would have Red Gold Soldier AR, or Red Gold Soldier YB.

They are both clearly marked as the red team, if people are still confused by that there is no helping them.

On that note, all this talk about confusion…

If the name is red, I kill it, if it’s green I investigate what they are up to or go find red names.

If they’re red and from different servers, they can kill each other too. You can exploit that when fighting them.
If it turns out they’re actually on the same server, that’s where confusion comes in.

Heaven forbid people make the minimal effort to learn who they are fighting or just read the situation in front of them before yolo 1 spamming in.

But that wouldn’t be a problem anyway with the idea I suggested. Their linked server color would be the first thing that appears. If you see a “Blue Gold Soldier AR” fighting a “Green Bronze Scout TC”, there should be absolutely no confusion about whether they are on the same team or not.

We wouldn’t force players to move worlds but stacked worlds would have a high chance of never opening for transfers again since we would be lowering the population player cap on all worlds. So for example in NA worlds like Blackgate and Jade Quarry would stay “Full” and wouldn’t be open for transfers unless player started to transfer off.

Sooooo basically the same situation they’re in right now….

1. People would take time to adjust to it but I don’t see it as a bad suggestion.

2. All players are allowed to remain on their current world if they so choose.
Also world transfers must be made much cheaper under the new system. Maybe give 1 free transfer every 2 months.

3. Id stay where I am.

Pretty sure this idea wouldn’t work if people could just chose to stay on their current server…. I think this is that “blow up the servers” idea they had awhile back. If people could just stay where they are their is no incentive for servers like BG to de-stack.

I actually like the skill as is. It’s a 2k range CnD on a fair cooldown with a very snappy activation time.

I’d be fine with it if they fixed the kitten obstructed bug in WvW. I was fighting a 1v1 in a camp yesterday and it failed 4 times in a row.

Cast jump it for now. I usually use it in melee range with a foward-dodgeroll+hunters shot combo so I don’t get many fails but I also like to jump+hunters shot when I feel like the terrain has some ant hills between myself and target. I use a similar combo when on a wall and want to pbs someone off a cliff like at hills or net.

I usually do but I was fighting a berserker using taunt and getting taunted in the air still bugs you out so you are perma taunted and can’t activate skills including stun breaks until you /dance or something.
….. I swear I feel like I’m fighting the games broken mechanics more than I am the other players.

I think it will still be obstructed by the ground 75% of the time.
They need to just let the skill grant stealth whether it hits a target or not.

There is no reason not to support this idea. It limits risk, it solves problems, it doesn’t present new problems.

It only works if all the servers are closely balanced.

The servers are not closely balanced.

So it doesn’t work.

They arent closely balanced because anet has been linking servers to create stable tiers instead of trying to make every pairing competitive with each other.

1 up 1 down would work fine if they shoot for equal populations across the board and relink on a monthly basis.

As a rifle engi, (toolkit, nades, rocket boots) I find fighting warriors really frustrating.

Before HoT powercreep, I used to have no problem getting in close with a warrior and trading hits. Now, I have to kite like my life depends on it and pray they never get within 300 range or so.

  • If they get close to me and manage to get a taunt combo off, I lose. That instantly takes me from full health to below 25%. They’re faster than me and have stability, so I can’t cc them or escape.
  • If they land any one of their stuns, I lose. Rocket boots isn’t a stun-break.
  • If I land any of my cc’s, they just break stun and continue fighting.
  • They have stability and resistance for a good portion of the fight, so I can’t use my cc’s. Overcharged Shot, Net shot, Magnet
  • They have more sustain – They regen health faster than I can deal damage, considering I have to spend a lot of time kiting and maintaining distance.

If at any time I make one mistake (fail to dodge a stun, be too close and get hit by the unblockable undodgeable taunt, use Overcharged Shot when war has stab, Net shot when they have resistance) I lose the fight right there.

If I do everything right and kite perfectly for 2 minutes while still dealing more damage than their regen, .. they just run away until their stances recharge again, and I can’t catch them because they’re faster than me.

If you choose to run without stun break you kind of forfeit the right to complain about dying to cc…..

1 up 1 down has been debunked since game release as being a silly idea that will result in horrendous matchups unless the servers across the board are somewhat competitive.

With server links there’s no reason why each group couldn’t be somewhat competitive. especially if they relink on a monthly basis so people aren’t server hopping as much.

option1) No matter what you attached to the poll the one that has more loot is always going to win. It like asking if you want to keep the current system or add multimap looting like you have in AB. No one voted for this because it had clean up or or improvements. (not saying not one person did but majority read
“more loot that’s what I want”) This is also going to promote Ktrain and blobs.

option 2) Higher pop server in t1/t2 don’t want this system and have the majority of the WvW players. So it’s not going to get voted for. I mean having movement would be great.

The poll should have ask if players would like:

option 1) a 1 up 1 down system with a short explanation
option 2) Glicko scoring adjusting with a short explanation

I’m in T1 and I’d love for them to give 1 up 1 down a try. But the problem is these polls are pointless when they don’t put any limitations on who is allowed to vote. They let PvE players that have no interest in the overall health of the game vote, they’ll only show up when their server is winning so why not vote for better rewards for the little time they spend in WvW?
And if you look at Mal’s sig in the first response to this thread you’ll see he has 30 accounts, he’s against a 1 up 1 down system and he can vote 30 times against it. That will actually make a decent impact on a poll where 67% of the people who have looked at it have chosen not to vote.

They shouldn’t let people vote unless they have achieved a certain rank in WvW, this cuts down on the alt account voting and it makes sure the people who are voting have a good understanding of the game mode and how the changes will affect it.

……You’re joking right? There have been multiple threads that have pages of baddies qq’ing about druids in the PvP and WvW forum. And each thread was just like this one, a player that hasn’t bothered to learn the class and is unwilling to adapt their own build comes to the forum to complain instead of learning how to fight it.
So what’s anet’s response? They make stupid nerfs to the profession that do very little to affect the so called “op” build but destroy several others.

Quickdraw works great with hunter’s call for bleed stacking, or call of the wild for ooc mobility (hit an ambient, hop off a ledge, etc.). In combat swiftness is 100% without trying.
With quickdraw, celestial shadow, 2 blast finishers, and a leap finisher it is very easy to stack stealth.
Regen from shouts + natural healing keeps your CA available on cooldown.
Tiger + furious grip gives you perma fury.
Sigil of strength, call of the wild, zephyr’s speed, sword auto+ whao makes might stacking pretty easy as well.
Multiple stun breaks, interrupts, and evades. This build is glassy but slippery as hell.
And of course warhorn gives you access to that unblockable pet burst.

The downside of this build is it isn’t great for chasing people that choose to run. You have to run from 1vX’s against condi heavy and/or retal heavy groups.

The changes in bold have yet to be implemented even though they were part of the very first “poll”.

Not voting until they finish the stuff they mentioned in the previous polls. Nightcap fix is too important and affects this new poll so until they change it there is no reason to vote now.

I think both of those were part of the Skirmish system. As a dreaded night capper, I’m fine with that solution. You aren’t the only people who play, sorry.

You mean the solution of no solution at all so you can continue your nightcapping? Yeah, I can figure why you’re fine with ‘that solution’ as it doesn’t prevent nightcappers from ruining the matchup while 90% of the other players are asleep.

Nightcapping really hasn’t been an issue since skirmishes was implemented. Yeah they still win that particular time zone but that’s not enough to carry a server anymore.

It’s not like when they would win the ppt wars by ticking for 600 for a few hours in the middle of the night despite the fact they would lose the other 20ish hours of the day.

I’m in t4 with like 9 servers and will probably be here for 2 months.

If you’re in t4 and you’re in DB/KN/YB, you’re likely going to move up to T3 at some point.

If you’re on one of the other two linksets, you wouldn’t be going anywhere in 1up/1down.

They won’t go anywhere in the current system unless they get a random glicko roll.
In a 1 up 1 down system they could push hard 1 week for a win. Once you start winning and facing fresh servers a lot of the pve/fairweather players tend to log in more often.

Who put this server up? They have 0,6 KDR all they do is back capping wile the other 2 servers fight. Give them their original glicko… they don’t even give a fight, when the super ACs are gone we just spam the 1 skill and they get 1 pushed. They are not in the right tier.

I don’t think any tier wants to deal with them.

Ah I should note that if you are good (i.e. an alt account or come from sPvP) I will finish those low ranks as normal.

I’m the opposite. If someone puts up a good fight I’m more likely to let them live. I kittening hate players that just stand still or flat out run without even trying to defend themselves.

Of course if I’m trying to build stacks or get my daily I’ll stomp anyone.

I think this round of links is pretty reasonable. Look at how close all the NA matches are right now.

Population is used for server status. Links are used to better even up matches. This is not whats happening

I’ve got a lot of friends on JQ and when I look at my friends list during the day I rarely see more than 2 or 3 of them in wvw. But every one of them will hop in at some point, either during prime time or just to get their daily.

All of these people are technically active players even if they are only in wvw for about an hour or less everyday.

When I look around on Mag I see the same names logging in every day and putting in way more hours.

Yeah and thats why we’re full, not why we didn’t get a link.

Yes but if you did get a link a lot of your fairweather players would start putting in longer hours because you’d have the population to steam roll everything.

If you already have the population to be competitive but half your population logs off the second you wipe or your pug commander tags down, the solution isn’t that you need moar numbers.

You know… FA’s been Full/Very High since the population calculation change over a year ago and hanging around rank 6. Anet at the time said some servers marked Full were overstacked well beyond the Full status (like BG still is). When JQ was Very High, you guys still brought out numbers that FA could almost compete with. I don’t honestly know how you expect not to go Full when you can outnumber FA at times and then go and recruit. T2 “size” is basically the new max server size you have to get used to, not the old overstacked T1 sizes. It really sounds like you need to trim players in certain timezones if you want to fill other timezones.

Its not about just being full its not getting a link. Anet has just literally destroyed JQ. Well done anet.

No. Only hard CC such as Stun/Daze/Launch/Knockdown remove stability. Light CC such as Cripple/Chilled/Weakness/Immobilize don’t remove stability. It do remove Defiance Bar from NPCs tho…

Mesmer is problem not gear. Condi mesmer doesn’t even need defense at all if he isn’t totally braindead player.

The gear is a big part of this particular issue. Yes, mesmer has always been a strong roamer and chrono makes it even stronger, but most condi builds before dire had to make compromises. You could have vitality but not toughness, vice versa or hybrid. You couldnt go max tank with max condi.

Either way even if mesmer need tweaking, fixing dire and similar sets should be the first priority. It would strike a blow to other builds at the very top of the cheeze chain as well.

Like power berserker’s, power druids, evade spam thieves…. oh wait…

somehow the nerf only affected the zerg mesmer build where it wasnt really a problem anyway

All the roaming classes are like this now. If you play your class well and are running the right build every 1v1 against another properly built roamer that knows their class pwill end in a stale mate.

Get used to it because anet won’t balance the game modes separately so they can’t fix wvw without breaking something else.

You are overestimating the average GW2 player buddy… I mean, I have a slow reaction time myself (sometimes more than half second) and I can still win most of my fights.

Lol what exactly do you find skillful about his play?
Drop 2 traps on a semi afk player, run away to stack stealth, rinse and repeat until they die, edit out all the footage where it doesn’t work.

The only thing I’ll give him props on is running sylvari so he can use the elite to counter reveal.

It’s not that I find his play skillful, but more that there are a lot of really bad players in WvW. Of course he is doing this in T1, but still…look at how those players reacted to him. Or rather how they did not react.

Was thinking that as well. Most of them just stood there doing nothing competent. I’ve played this build a bit and it’s pretty effective for the most part. If you mess up you can get annihilated at times, but for the most part it is fun to troll with.

In my experience, competent players will know quickly how to fight this build, t1 zerglings will never have a chance as the video shows. Hence why the lower tiers are more fun IMO, better fights.

That’s the beauty of video editing, you can pick and choose the fights that make you look good and leave out the rest.

I actually watched every one of the videos he posted (except the last because it was blocked for copyright kitten), because I ran into the op several times and he died or ran off. I didn’t see any of those fights pop up in the vids.
The majority of his targets were zerglings that rely on group cleanse, afk players, players trying to rez, harvest, etc. , or super low rank players. He omitted all of the fights against roamers with adequate cleanse.

EB is not a pet buffing trait though, it is actually a pet harming trait. And as such it doesn’t make much sense in BM (it doesn’t make much sense at all, but whatever …).

It really needs to be reworked to convert condi’s to pet boons on transfer. It’s desperately needed that change since they changed condi’s to stack in intensity instead of duration.

Might be a thing for EBG towers. Borderland Towers seen to be able to tag you even before you can actually place siege for anything (particulary true for the northern ones).

Yup, the southern ones can be hit from the ruins, the NE one is basically a lost cause if anyone is on the map defending. The NW one actualy isn’t terrible because the hit box on the wall extends ridiculously far out, but you have to run all the way up the west side of the map until your up near North camp and back track down to get to a cata spot without being marked.

So yeah, it’s not impossible for solo/small groups but it is discouraging.

I wouldn’t mind killing a guard as a compromise.

I still tap gates because I just like to know I did contest and we’ll I don’t like eating bolas, cripple and shield bash. Snow leopard bless hunters shot!

Only problem with that is it gives defense way to big of an advantage because in a long drawn out keep fight you wouldn’t be able to recontest when the wp reopened. you’d have to wait for a guard to respawn while the defenders continually respawn in.

Maybe a mix of kill a guard/1% damage to a wall/WP remains locked as long as there is a breach.

Obviously I mwant for tagging, not for zerg attacks lol.

Well yeah but it’s kind of hard for an automated system to tell which is which lol.

about the condi cleanses:
having them locked in one traitline isnt a good desing to begin with.

Now im talking about the base ranger:
move EB to beastmastery traitline as GM and make it cleanse one condition every 3-4 seconds instead 3 every 10 so the ranger has an actual choice.
Rework the water spirit to also cleanse and improve somehow the healing.
bring back the trait of mobile spirits.

the trait to share yhe boons with the pet from te ranger made baseline, so we arent forced into NM.

That should give enough choice to not tobe locked into the 2 traitlines and the rune set.

Now for the two traitlines about dps: the power one should bring more utility to be able to inflict damage more consistenly. A trait to give signet short unblockable attacks sounds fine to me.

The condi one should also bring more utility reestrucuting the traitline so there arent conflicting traits in the same spot, and also rework some effects so the role its better defined.

A ranger/druid should be able to choose one buker lines and one dps without loosing basic functionality.
otherwise we are being forced to choose the option that sucks less

Agree with all of this except the mobile spirits. They just need to be completely reworked.

Instead of npc’s that Anet has had a terrible time balancing they should be changed to aoe wisps. They can either be wisps that circle and buff allies, or circle and harm enemies, adding a secondary benefit to allies they pass through and harming enemies they pass through.

But towers/keeps have the opposite effect. Unless your side is dominating, small groups just ignore those structures and move on because you have no chance of breaking in before they siege the kitten out of it or call in a zerg to swarm you.

Pretty much all towers with Watchtower can get hit without popping the red dots using catas or trebs. The only time those red dots show is when players are on a gate or going to the lord. Some towers are trickier than others but all of them have vulnerabilities that small groups can exploit. Keeps currently have no “radar” upgrade but if it did it would be no different.

BTW I would be on board with some type of counter play such as stealth not popping red dots. A small group could be on the lord before they showed up on “radar” which would be fine to me.

Yeah they can be hit but in most cases it requires you to be at max range. That’s why I said you can’t break in before they siege the kitten out of it or zerg you.

This isn’t a problem for a zerg who can drop multiple catas to melt the wall before they mount a defense but it’s very discouraging for small groups. Especially when faced with certain servers that will have 4 people inside a tower building a treb to counter a solo roamer.

Lolz go take your tears somewhere else. First off druid is a great elite spec for us rangers, we needed something with utility and team fights. I would’ve preferred a deeps spec too but hey now we have something viable. That’d why peeps used to hate on us cause rangers are super selfish (everyone loves even teefs when they stealth/venom them)
Secondly against Condi mesmers you should be fine against all but the best. Hell if your struggling that much just run lb/staff and run ws signt of removal bm and druid with trooper runes, Condi bomb builds can’t hurt ya.

Also not every class should be the best against everything

There should be a rock paper scissor shoe effect. Like for teefs,eles, revs, rangers, necros I like using lb/gs for scrapers/warriors/mesmers/guards staff and sword and axe
For when there’s too many peeps out there and team fights I run staff/sword warhorn

You can build against condi mesmer if there’s a prevelance of them that day or your dueling one.

If you don’t take the right equipment to the right fight then your not playing ranger right. Instead of just QQing build around it, druid cleanse is fine the nerf/buff was actually really good
