In zerg fight you havent much more options. Grenades flight too long, you need 30 extra points for them and retalitation still hits same. Bombs has low range and long fuse.

You’re already using a flamethrower. You don’t care about the range, just throw the grenades at your feet, or ever so slightly in front of you.

I may be missing something, but Shrapnel doesn’t effect anything in your build.

You could easily drop that, and shove it into Alchemy, primarily for the 8% transmute, or instead into inventions for stabilized armor, then take your neck gem and swap it for something a bit beefier. I would then drop blood injections for protection injections. this is a 53%ish decrease is damage taken when stunned or knocked down.

This will help you a bit against necromancers. You probably won’t kill them, but you’ll live longer.

Rocket boots (20s cooldown) will compliment your build via a high duration burn, and get you just as far + cleanse soft CC, compared to Slick shoes. Only upside is the added Knockdown and stun break, but it’s a 1 minute cooldown for the CC.

You will also be able to use Rocket boots + Acid bomb to cover large distances.

(I personally don’t consider medkit to be all that great, because of the waterfield given by Healing turret, but that’s all preference. With that build you could easily blast that field 3 times.)

And as previously mentioned, your sigils share cooldowns, might consider something else. I say drop the Earth for Geomancy.

What you do with your turret, is drop it, instantly overcharge, then detonate it. None of this will interrupt your other skills, and the water field will linger after the death of the turret. This heal will already exceed the heal from the gadget.

In the end, they’ll heal you for the same with the Medkits or the regen, but blasting the waterfield will push the healing turret ahead, and it effects your allies as well.

My only gripe with your build, is I feel the waterfield and regeneration from Healing turret is better than what the Healing kit provides. You could easily self blast that field 5 times within the 2 second duration.

At your amount of healing that’s roughly 13k healing to your allies, plus the initial healing turret deployment to yourself. On top of that, you’ve now applied around 15 seconds of regen to 4 other people immediately around you, and when chained with Healing mists from the Elixer gun, shoots you up to 39 seconds, which can be maintained indefinitely if you don’t want to save it for a stun break.

Just something to consider. I too was also running backpack regen, but since I focus on pistols I came to a conclusion the healing I benefited from the small amount of time I spent in kits wasn’t worth it.

I understand it’s primarily to combo with your runes, but they have a 10 second downtime, and healing turret only a 20 second cooldown. Preference I guess.

I really only get trouble with D/D eles, and Necromancers. Good condition application, and supportive healing. Tool kit can be dropped for anything else, but I like the utility.

Ele’s because their condition removal and healing are stronger than your damage. They probably won’t kill you either.

Necromancers, because they usually eat your conditions, and have application far stronger than your removal without pigeon holing yourself into using elixers.

thanks Anet for giving Maguuma a 3rd straight week against a tier 2 server. Nothing like getting pummeled by 60-80 man zergs constantly for a 3rd week in a row.

Why would you want anything that was previously T4? Mag rolls over all those servers with no effort.

This is a silly response. I think it’s obvious at this point that somewhere between the two would be better. A fight with even numbers at any given time would be ideal. Are you saying that you would rather be constantly outnumbered?

Please don’t answer that – if I have to hear “We like it that way – cuz the score don’t mean anything – we play for fun…blah blah blah.” – my head will explode. You can keep trying to sell that kitten – but nobody’s buying.

The vertical distance is roughly from the Garrison Lake vista, to the bottom of the lake.

Hard to break in most cases, but it can happen. Horizontal is from the Center of your minimap at maximum zoom in, to the edge at 1900×1200. Resolution may vary, 15 dots on your map, or 13 with swiftness. (for 90%ish distance limit).

I won one last night simply by keeping mid line so I don’t get slammed by absolutely everyone’s items, then got the number 4 skill, boosted ahead of the first place person, dropped a fake item which luckily was Gale right in front of them, then held first place right until the end. At which point I used the shortcut to the finish line.

It’s really not all about luck. It’s PvP.

I sure do love “loosing” them battles. But really, our Glass ele’s are rarely our problem. They’re usually among the last to die, and contribute most of our damage/cc, be it hard or soft.

Especially outside of GvG, I’d say. Most of the time in WvW opposition isn’t as organized as in a GvG so running glass is even easier.

In fact, in each scenario, on my warrior and engineer I’m about 10x more likely to die than you are, despite my toughness builds.

Positioning is OP.

I do not understand how this works,

1) Do player inside this jumping puzzle count towards the amount of players in the map as a whole?

IE when you get in a queue doe these players take up a space?

2) Are players allow to camp at the beginning of this particular jumping puzzle to prevents others from getting to the jumps?

I would like to formally ask that players who aren’t doing any jumping in the Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle be kick from the WvW jump puzzle instance because they are griefing other players who actually are trying to get something done, especially during time like this when the goal of one of the achievement is at the end of this jumping puzzle. (The Black Out Cache)

I agree with the OP, because I just went to the Obsidian Sanctum JP and I counted 12 – 15 Jade Quarry camping at the beggining, pulling people off the starting platform and killing them. I personally HATE this, and someone should put a stop to this, such as what the OP said (kicking them if they aren’t doing the JP).

xD This happened today with about 20 Magswaggers. We brought in 15 people and wiped them repeatedly until they ran away from spawn and hid. Then we ported people to the top of the JP (which is not an exploit, btw) and wiped them there as well.

Moral of the story: It’s counterable.

Only difference is, the mesmer portalling up was fly hacking. Rest was relatively accurate, though it was 16 at the spawn, the rest somewhere else in the Jp. Fate was good at smearing a bunch of disorganized players, and good at staying tight together. I look forward to running into them with an actual DORP Raid.

I ran the entire puzzle 3 times. You had more than 12 at the entrance alone. 7 in the dome with the Mob traps and a variety of others scattered between the dome to the end. We brought even numbers and you got stomped.

In the EB jumping puzzle. Several people were porting or rocket jumping up onto SOS and TC platforms and killing people as they spawned into the JP.

Oh, that’s Super speed + Rocket boots. Seeing as Engineers can’t port people, it was just an Engineer.

For Frizz, as an Engineer I had no stability, I hugged the large laser as close to the middle as possible and kited the golems. When pulled, it wouldnt be enough to bring me into the next one, and I’d move back into position.

It really wasn’t that hard. Also helps to have your group not cc them.

Ha im runnin something very similar to this except with settlers prefix instead and have ten more points in alchemy compared to your explosives. The build can take a lot of punishment from physical attacks but remained a litle vulnerable to conditions, which I figured automated response can help with.

Might have to try that. Explosives just gives me another source of burn that I’m rather enjoying, but I can probably live without it if I can land good rocket kicks, and Torch.

Condition heal build

This is what I’m running.

I was originally running healing bombs, but it’s unreliable for a condition damage build, and forces you to run from your target, or sit with bombs at your feet. The extra sustain is nice, but hinders your mobility, plus doesn’t do a whole lot of damage if you’re running a healing build, considering bombs scale off power. Bomb kit is nice for the utility but I wouldn’t make it a focus.

The knockback on flamethrower is nice, but I’d rather take Rocket boots for a low cooldown high duration burn gadget, and a strong source of mobility

Cloaking device or Stabilized armor is fine for either, each have their purpose.

I however am against Acidic armor. This trait is only effected by melee attacks. It might save you when you need it, but Protection injections is a bit more reliable in my opinion, coupled with Backpack regenerator.

In all honesty, with coated bullets being moved down, we’re left with an opening to focus on pistols for damage, with kits as support weapons. This allows us to have strong condition application, and healing.

I’m running full apothecary, with undead runes. Geomancy, and cond stacking sigils.

I don’t need anymore crit beyond my 17%

Super Speed question

The blast finisher seems to be the first field you pass through, and on landing it does the blast finisher animation, but has no effect.

Hitting any field during any point in your jump will proc it.

I thought Maguuma used to be the super l33t roamer server. Now, you fight 3 and 20 more show up. Not joking, there’s a 60 man zerg on EBG right now and a 40 man zerg on YBBL right now.

A few major guilds roam, but the general population never roamed to the extent you’re exaggerating. That said, we’re really in the karma train mind these days. I don’t like it.

All open field siege is lame regardless of which server is doing it.

I am curious as to why? Not saying yes or no to it, more interested in views on this. Siege is a part of the game, curious as to why it seems lame to use it. For me personally the only lame siege in the game is sieging from keep to keep and that is (my opinion) simply horrible game design, and totally understandable that people use it

It’s lame when a larger group of people siege creep a smaller group. So 60 people building AC’s against a group they should be able to smear themselves, such as 20-30.

Even at equal numbers it’s silly, because it shows you’re still not good enough to handle equal numbers.

The only time appropriate for open field is when on the weaker side.

Do they really change the outcome of the match at all? I don’t think so. Some guy that is a waste of time to kill I ignore him. If he kills me I wp and carry on my way. Whatever.

Killing Dolyaks, Capping Camps, Contesting Waypoints.

These are things they do well, which effect the outcome of a match.

Why am I easily killed by thief in WVW?

Honestly, a big part is just recognizing skill animations, and avoiding the one’s you know hurt. That and building to survive the big burst.

I’m personally running full Apoth for the most part. With a basilisk venom opening like some do, I have protection injections mitigate a large chunk of their burst. Play of their weaknesses, and accept if they have half a brain and don’t want to die, they’ll just leave.

I don’t expect to win 100% of the time, but I can usually get them to back off with heavy burning and poison application.

A couple people in this thread seem to think thieves offer nothing to a Team beyond roaming. I strike that odd considering we use them for various things in organized play.

Cleric/Apoth Venom Share builds with our front lines.
Shortbow Blast finisher spam for Waterfields and Chill.
Dagger storm is the longest whirl finisher in the game I believe. There’s a lot of potential with both water fields, Light fields, and Chill.

I’m likely missing a few things, but they have a place in organized play. Usually Engineer or the Rangers in the guild just get “no”. This is because Grenade damage, though good, is out shined by Elementalist for burst, Necromancers for condition pressure and is subject to massive amounts of retaliation damage. This means you have to trade off damage for survivability to ensure you don’t flatten yourself. Rangers bring a long duration water field, but so does Elementalist. Though an Engineer CAN perform in a team comp, a Thief will usually be brought over one.

But all of the things you mentions, IMO, other classes offer better and/or more of them. Which of those you have said do you think a thief does better and/or can use more of? I agree with you regarding Ranger and Engineers, other classes do better, but I see the same with thiefs.

Well the blast finishers is really just them, unless we bring an engineer. We really mainly bring them for the venom share, which adds additional CC to our front line. Forcing people to blow stun breaks is important after boon strips have gone off and we try to Static field People.

Oh, and I neglected to mention shadow refuge. Very useful for stealthing our mesmers, for portals against disorganized groups.

Mobile Cannon siege. Fires in a straight line, takes 2 players to operate (One to move one to fire), moves at -50% speed, and be effected by swiftness. Long range single line of fire. Would be a powerful counter to the current Meta.

Or simply allow Ballista to be pushed around. They have wheels after all.

I prefer the concept of a WvW specific skill. It’s a 30 second cast time, and you just sit there defacing the body so it can’t be revived.

Also as previously stated, your vision when dead should be just your camera looking down at your character.
