man, i’ve been using mace 2 and 3 to try to give area might, i didn’t know that I was actually hurting my dps!

I can tell you right now, unless I’m doing hardcore content that needs some healing being thrown out. I will be using Shiro + Jalis.

Mallyx is awful in PvE because you have to rely on enemies putting conditions on you to deal extra damage back.

Ventari is alright if your team is having trouble, but he doesn’t have a lot of damage to mix in with the healing support, because if your team isn’t in need of healing you can’t camp in your other legend because you’ll need to get energy back up.

you essentially get to play content you want with ur 80 while still reaping benifits of gettings tomes to level an alt ur iffy about

i dont like the idea of being able to buy tomes with gold, you need 78 to make a max chr after tutorial which is 156 gold @ 2g per pop….so basically 10 bucks irl cash tranferred to gold gets you max level

That’s all the more reason for the devs to throw in fake/junk data, though. They want to make it a big reveal, which they can’t do if it’s all datamined before they’re ready.

The staff has two weapon models, a regular and ascended version.

There is a model of throwing knife pack and throwing knife individual.

There is artwork of a thief using a staff, most likely for the specialization background.

You think they would throw in “fake” stuff that takes a bit to design when people are griping about the expac taking too long to come out?

Takes me back to the days of the Commando April Fools joke. Some people though it was funny, but a lot were kittened that they spent so much time on something that was fake and not going in game because the base game was taking too long to come out.

The beserker and forge didn’t have artwork, they were just placeholders….if they don’t have the artwork done for the thief, why would you slap fake ones on the thief and not the warrior and engineer placeholders? Or the other way around, why not just leave it placeholder to keep people speculating on rifle?

I understand thief players are grieving, and are in the first stage of denial, but there is WAY too much evidence to support that they are getting staff, in one way or another.

Who said it was melee staff? (Even though it does look like a Bo Staff)

Yeah if anyone bothered to read the datamined stuff you’ll see thief is getting staff + there’s a throwing knife kit in there aswell.

What i think people are failing to understand is with the new prof a thief is no longer a Thief anymore, thats the point of the new elite profs its a completely new style of play

Ok so how are people not seeing a thief which is a primary melee prof and needs to be in melee to STEAL so it makes more sense having a new melee wep than a ranged one, sniper would fit Ranger a hell of a lot more.

i doubt it’s kits unless they remove weapon swap with the elite spec (if you didnt know engies dont have weapon swap and kits are why). also how does playing acrobatics with a staff count as a completely new play style when you guys are already spinning and jumping everywhere already anyways. Also I’ve always found datamines stuff to never be all that reliable (remember people datamined polearms in the beta back in 2012 and we STILL DONT HAVE OUR POLEARMS ANET!) so I would be skeptical of anything dataming turned up even if it gave evidence toward rifle (the one i would prefer by far over the staff for both selfish and none selfish reasons)

thieves are getting Staff

all the thieves who want rifle can’t keep denying it but you guys are getting staff

that being said, it is also highly likely you are getting kits as well, which could be rifle and throwing knives

This could mean thief is still getting rifle as a kit!

That or rifle is the main weapon and the staff is a kit weapon

My money is on staff being the main weapon though because the specialization pic has the thief wielding it

Yeah he says it’s pretty much a high damage build for PvE only, I will have to edit the title to put that out there.

It’s not super squishy if your used to running zerker. I can do World Bosses and dungeons with it quite well. Dungeons are “LOL” atm though because bosses are melting. I did do a fractal 28 with it among some guild mates as well, although it was much rougher and we do have a pretty good group.

You could put water trait line in for a bit more survival, he also said you could put in some Rabid I believe (It’s been a while since I watched it)

I love everything about my warrior except one thing at the moment. Damage is awesome. All the weapon sets are viable in one way or another, whether it’s condi or power.

The one thing that I cannot get over, is the lack to swiftness. I play a GS/Axe+Mace, and the only real option I have for swiftness is Signet of Rage which is 25s on a 48s CD

I don’t know why but it makes the class feel soooo slow.

It could be that I was just spoiled by my thief, ele, and guardian, but man, some more options to swiftness just to get around would be nice.

It also feels like GS3 and GS5 is even worthless to use for movement. It may be because of the quickness nerf on them, but even without it, they seem worse than what they used to be.

I’ve been using torch 4 before going in, Judges Intervention, and then scepter 3, scepter 2, torch 5 SWAP usual GS rotation

ive been using it and i like it a lot, didnt have to waste gold or anything because i was running sinister on my thief already

I for one, LOVE Death Blossom, so this build appeals to me right off the bat. It kills pretty quick. I do not think it deals as much dmg as a Guardian or Ele burning condi tho. Burning is sooooo rediculous right now. That doesnt stop this from being a fun build though.

Warhorn actually does fit the elite spec.

If you are slowed down by the timegate for charged quartz, you can buy sheets of charged ambrite on the TP, at 90s it will cost you around 20s more than crafting yourself.

This is specifically for new patch only, in testing builds, and a way to get people some builds who aren’t necessarily awesome about making their own builds.

Sorry good sir, you can hope, but it’s highly doubtful. It is wearing a thief armor set, as well as using the same “colors” from the thieves current spec backgrounds.

A glint themed shield was already datamined for Revenants and it’s elite spec.

Also, the only background this could be used for is MAYBE the ventari spec line, but there was also a Ventari background already datamined.

I do not think that thief getting a staff is a bad thing.

The Revenant staff was already revealed as a melee staff user, so I think the thief may be getting a bit of a ranged staff option, perhaps called the Shadowmage, or something to the likes. I believe this to be because the Revenant is the new hotness, and they don’t want to dilute the new hotness by giving melee staff ALSO as an elite spec for another class.

I do believe their staff option is going to be ranged. I can only imagine the uproar if it was another melee option.

Condi damage being a bit too strong is not a bad thing! Power was strong for 3 years before you finally brought Condi damage up!

Your extra chr slot is completely free without paying more.

You bought the ultimate because you liked the gems, slot, mini, and other stuff, so you would still have had to pay 100.00 if this slot was given BEFORE the bundles were even announced.

If you bought the ultimate edition just for the chr slot, ask for a refund and get the standard now instead.

If you want to keep the ultimate set at 100.00, then you obviously think the extra goodies are valuable enough to you to pay 100.00

You HAVE to pre-purchase from Best Buy or Gamestop. You have to pay in full. If you pre-order you don’t get any of the bonuses, including Beta Access or the exclusive Title.

You will get the code on your receipt, and you must apply that code to your account before HoT launch. If you don’t, raise hell with the retailer and let them know you are pre-purchasing, not pre-ordering. It’s really hit or miss on whether those Gamestop employees know anything, most of them have a “deer in the headlight” look when i ask them about a game.

I bought one of the pre-orders that had a slot because I wanted the character slot and figured I might as well get other stuff… Now that the char slot is free, makes me feel a little different about the value of the pre-order.

They will make new races playable in the future and probably won’t be giving a character slot for those.

So it does look like you’ll be able to pre-purchase a boxed version from the official retailers of Arenanet which is Best Buy, Gamestop, and Newegg. This does mean you will have to pay in full, and you should recieve your code to upgrade on the receipt, or if through newegg, it will likely be in an e-mail. You also need to do this before HoT launch.

You read that wrong. It says:
For all players who registered the core Guild Wars 2® game prior to January 23, 2015 and who upgrade their account by prepurchasing and registering any Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns edition before Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns‘ launch, we will add one additional character slot to your Guild Wars 2 account.

So, I understand that includes boxed editions as long the upgrade is made before the official launch. Is that right?

Nada. The boxed edition is a launch version of the game. The character slot is a pre-purchase bonus only. You only recieve the character slot as long as you pre-purchase and upgrade BEFORE the launch date of GW2: HoT.

Living story is HIGHLY likely to be focused on the Magumma Jungle zones, so if you don’t have expac, you probably wont be able to do it, so I personally would add that in there, but opinions I guess.

Look at all the things we are getting with HoT.

- New weapon for each class
- New post level 80 leveling system
- Rumored 5 new zones with 3 “sub-sections”
- 2 Zones dedicated to Guild Halls

- New Class
- New WvW Map
- Various new WvW mechanics
- New sPvP Map
- New sPvP Mode
- New Confirmed Challenging Content

Then later on down the road….you’ll get Living World Season 3 and 4, if we assume that it’ll be 2 season between each expac. You also get more feature packs, and more balance patches. You could sink hours upon hours into this expansion.

That is awesome for just 50.00

Does it suck that only new players really get a bonus item? Sure, but that doesn’t mean the price of the expac should change for us veteran players.

I do think a character slot would be a reasonable bonus to veteran players though.

Despite all the bullkitten that has been going on in the forums I am glad to see this thread is still on the first page. I feel for you guys, facing such a loss is never easy. I hope Anet pulls through and does something special for guys.

The GW2 community is an extremely nice community. However, we are very passionate about our game, so much so that I think we are more passionate about it than the devs to a point haha. We tend to voice our thoughts a lot more than some other communities if we feel wronged or we don’t like the way the game is going.

To the OP, I am sorry for your loss, and I too would like you to get a memorial for your guild hall.
