I thought it would be fun to collect some builds here, while seeing who all is going to try condi, power, or celest!

I am personally going Power Herald. I have two different builds in mind though.

Devastation: 1,1,1
Invocation: 3,2,1
Herald: 3,2,1,

This one is a bit more offense oriented, and will prob be what i use in the open world and solo. I had a 85% crit chance without food buffs, and had perma fury as herald.

Devastation: 1,1,1

This one is a bit more tanky, and is my option for group content, you do lose roiling mists though, so you don’t crit as much.

mine is a tie between Herald and Druid…i like to be able to do damage and support at the same time

Herald I can go Shiro and pump out a lot of dps, or switch to herald and support and still do decent damage

Druid I can go into Longbow and do a lot of damage, and go staff to support and deal decent damage still, and if I really need to pump out some heals, I can go astral form.

Is the zerker Meta really over?

I am thinking that your raid group is probably going to want 5-6 zerkers, 2-3 condi, and 2 healers

So the “zerker only” meta is gone yes….however if you are going power and you know the mechanics of the fight, zerker is still the way to go

I believe the thing thing that was being built was the Mordrem Guard itself….and at the end, that is definitely Elder Dragon huge. They even cut back to a wide view to give you the scale of how big Mordremoth actually is….Rytlock and Co. looked like ants in that view.

I believe we only saw part of mordey though because you can see a “talon” crushing a rock but the part of mordey we see at the end has no talons.

if that thing at the end was mordremoth….god kitten he looked sweet

i imagined morde being a regualar dragon but with vines coming off his body…..but i guess a dragon made of literal vines makes more sense since Zhaitan the undead dragon was literally made up of dead dragons all merged together to make one big dragon

Please Anet, do not fail us on the Mordremoth fight, he looks kitten, sounds kitten, make the fight kitten too!

The purple eyes are giving me an Abaddon feel too, which is good because he was the best big bad from GW1.

BWE2 Feedback

First of all, the jungle looks absolutely gorgeous, and I won’t lie about me being iffy on only having 4 maps of content to play through, but after this you can really tell that there are 3 different layers of maps in the “one” world map plane, and if the other maps are like this, you’re looking at about the equivalent of 12 maps from central Tyria. I cannot wait to explore the jungle.

I went into this beta completely abandoning the Revenant after being hyped about how cool the Berserker and Daredevil looked, so I didn’t actually test the Herald. This was a major mistake on my end.

Berserker is kind of just okay. It doesn’t really feel like you are in Berserk all that much, so you play a regular Warrior for 1-15 seconds, and then you berserk for 15 seconds, rinse and repeat. You’re telling me that I get kittened and go berserk mode, only to get less kittened as a monster is whacking away on me? I feel like once you go Berserk mode, you should continue to go berserk mode until you leave combat with that monster or monsters. This makes you more of a character like Hulk from Marvel Comics, where once you get kittened enough, you stay kittened until the thing dies, or you get even more kittened until the enemy dies.

Daredevil was also decent, and was definitely the more fun of the two elite specs that I was hyped for, but as time went on throughout the beta I kept wondering what was actually being brought to a class that is already extremely selfish. The extra dodges and endurance gains for yourself are not going to help a party in raids. There are no combo fields with staff and most of the physical skills are also selfish and for yourself. Yeah you get 3 interrupts on a 20 second CD, but other classes can do that too especially mesmers/chronomancers who can not only help with interrupts but also with far more things. I just don’t see what the Daredevil is bring to a class that needed more help because it’s widely viewed as a “PvP only” class

Now back to my point about the Herald….I’m mad because a lot of people seem to LOVE the Herald and is what seemed to be “missing” from the Revenant and some people even go so far as to claim the elite spec was planned to be part of the core Revenant anyways. I felt like none of the legends really paired with Shiro well because they all changed what you were doing drastically, so I often times found myself camping in Shiro mode, but it seems like Shiro+Glint was a resounding success, and now i’m kicking my butt for not trying it out.

I do like how they said in the original manifesto, there wouldn’t be quests where you “kill x monsters” or “escort person to here” or “gather x amount of y”……

yet here we are, doing all those things in event chains in HoT haha

I didn’t even pkay the Berserker. When I saw that this “specialized” profession’s Elite skill was a headbutt that stuns all involved, it felt so underwhelming that I lost all interest. They should rename that skill “Numbskull”.

There’s this thing called stability you can put on yourself…

Access to following conditions:
Weakness on critical hit
Vuln chance on hit

Access to following boons:
Quickness on hit from flank
Fury on hit from flank, and adds 2s on crit hit on a 2s cd
Vigor on steal

Playstyle:
Stay on enemies flank to keep Weakness, Vuln, Quickness, and Fury rolling as well as a 7% crit chance increase.

Use “dash” to remove condi’s (Using initiative from your increased initiative pool while in staff helps keen endurance coming in, you can also steal on a lower CD to get an instant 50 endurance and vigor)

This build is very flexible as you can keep your initiative high to deal more damage with Lead Attacks, or if you need some condi removal, dump your initiative for more dashes. On top of all of this keeping your endurance not topped out gives you a 10% dmg increase.

I’m open to all feedback!

Ascension to unlock Elite spec?

So it hasn’t really been revealed “how” we are getting our elite spec afaik, but with the heavy emphasis on Ascension and the Forgotten towards the end of living story season 2.

What if it unlocks through the story after we go through some ascension ritual process, whether that be like the doppleganger from gw1 or something different, and once we beat it, we unlock new hidden abilities.

I have a feeling Rytlock will put us through this ritual as well, and will be the story behind him unlocking his abilities of the Revenant.

actually…Thief did need this, but only because back in June they decided to remove the dodge survivability of thief and give it back to us as a “here’s something new and shiny” for you

The daredevil is basically the old Acrobatics line that everyone used to take, which doesn’t happen anymore because the new Acrobatics line is kinda meh.

I personally can’t wait for this class and is prob going to be my main heading into HoT for sure.

I can’t get to the crash log atm as I’m running a repair but I did copy the error codes part.

The didn’t show Zhaitan at all before GW2 release. They did use him in a trailer for the game, but that trailer didn’t release until about a month after the game.

I’m pretty confident Mordremoth dies in this expansions story. There is no way the story of Mordremoth lasts 2 living world seasons + expansion + more living world seasons.

I’m pretty sure Mordremoth dies, and then we’ll see another elder dragon attack Tyria somewhere leaving an awesome cliffhanger, and then living world will start setting up the next elder dragon to fight in the next expansion

The main problem is that unlike the pictures you posted, the daredevil is holding the lowered part of the staff with his hand underneath instead of on top, giving the impression that the lowered end of the staff is very heavy. This made sense when it was for the hammer, not so much for the staff.

As someone who has studied Bojutsu along with many other forms of weaponized martial arts, you are right in that there is a stance where a tip of the bo would be raised in front you. However there are many stances that you can use to wield a Bo Staff called Kamae.

The one you are describing is Seigan no Kamae. This is a “balanced stance”.

However, the one that is represented in the game is also a correct stance where the front tip of the bow is lowered in front of you and is called Ihen no Kamae. This stance is used more for defense and parrying.

I was underwhelmed, but Berserker and Daredevil have won me back….not a huge fan of the Daredevil name since it’s basically a Monk, but I am def running one of those two when the game comes out.

So when Revenant was data-mined/released, I fell in love with the class, and planned to main it once HoT came out, but after playing it in the beta and now seeing Berserker in action and the reveal of Daredevil, I think Revenant is going to have to go to the backburner for me.

I might still play one so that I can get that cool armor set for my Berserker Warrior; hopefully that armor isn’t too hard to get.

Anyone else had a similar experience thinking they were going to main Rev but are now doing an elite instead?

Do not nerf anything please. I like mobs that aren’t brain dead mash 1 to kill.

You have to actually think about positioning, which if “challenging group content” is going to be raids…..there are going to be mechanics like this where you need to kite the boss out of a field they drop down, this is simply teaching you to do that now while you are solo.

If Anet drops the difficulty of solo, then that makes the gap that much farther between solo play and challenging group play, and then everyone will be calling for the nerf of the challenging group content.

I can understand where the OP is coming from. They want feedback from the events, but we can’t progress past the first event because of it stalling out. There is a good 10-12 more events after each event chain meta that we can’t give feedback about because of these single events stalling out.

This creates a problem for the 2nd reason we are beta testing, there is a very limited amount of events that are outside the two metas, which is our main source of exp, which is the way we level up masteries. Some people are having a hard time leveling those other than killing random mobs with tons of boosts on.

Then the fact that the event chains stalling out actually hurt you being able to do adventures. You can only do adventures during the day because they go away at night. However the meta chains stalling out is some how effecting the adventures too. So no feedback on those.

The only thing that we are actually able to test this weekend were the elite specs and shiro revenant.

They are actually challenging now, which is good for GW2. We need a spike in difficulty.

If you nerf the mobs, that’s gonna make it that much more of a gap between open world content and challenging content.

Rangers definitely has the pewpew with rapid fire, that skill owns…..whereas dragonhunter hits really really hard all at once, and then relies on traps and the 5 skill to survive while he waits for the really hard hitter to come back up

the golden city is likely a capital city in the jungle, i doubt there is any mobs there to fight

the magumma wastes can have an underground, but I don’t even think we’re going to the wastes, the place where mordremoth lies was in a very thick jungle area from the cutscene, and all the ads say “venture to the heart of the magumma jungle”

but most of the actual jungle has tree above it, so i’m sure most, if not all maps will have a canopy layer, and no theres not going to be as much ground to cover in the canopy layer because you have to give the sense of being up high by letting people see below so there will be holes all over the place

There is a problem i forsee in only having 2 BWE’s.

The 2nd BWE is to test stuff after the feedback from BWE1 but we don’t have access to other 5 elite specs until BWE2, so how do we test the feedback for those specs?

Would suck that 4 of the elite specs are nice and polished come launch time, and then the other 5 would still be a bit jumbled because they only went through 1 round of testing instead of two.

I think he means weapons that are tied to a map. Like the amber weapons in drytop.

I do believe we are.

Each map is stated to have a different currency, so i’m sure different maps will have different stuff.

I honestly don’t know if they could’ve implemented another weapon as a long ranged option.

The only weapons they didn’t have access to were:

Dagger MH and OH
Axe MH and OH
Pistol MH and OH
Warhorn
Rifle
Shortbow

the only other option would have been rifle, but rifle doesn’t seem a very “guardian” weapon imo

i guess they could have pulled a “revenant hammer” situation and made axe or dagger a 1200 range option through “holy magic”
