WOO!! Called it :P
you are kind of going overboard really
i have a GTX 770 and i5- 2500k overclocked and I can run max settings and avg about 70fps….i avg about 20-30 in zergs
this game isn’t graphics heavy, you could prob run max with a 500 series card from nvidia, it’s the ram and processor that get destroyed when in zerg areas
i didn’t even see the structure being built under the archway in the middle….good find!
i sure do hope we get some type of progress on repairs, i would much like for it to be like the lion statue back in the day, the slowy built it back up over six weeks or so, it took three 2 week patches
I see what you’re saying about the npc but lions arch doesn’t look any different to me
the giant building on the far right above the ramp is completely gone, as well as the houses or buildings along the wooden archway in the top middle of the picture
(edited by Jordo.5913)
So I just recently finished watching the Reaper specialization in PoI, and I noticed that when they were showing the new F1 skill, that they were showing a Lion’s Arch that didn’t look as destroyed as the one that we see today.
So I went off to take some screenshots.
I also want to point out, that around mid-April, we had two Consortium NPC’s drop in the game, with some mysterious dialogue about a plan and findings. I’ll link these screenshots as well.
Does this mean we’ll be seeing some changes to LA before the launch of HoT? I certainly hope so!
The Consortium are overlooking where the breachmaker was digging into the ley line. This certainly has to mean that their plan has something to do with restoring LA right?
We were also told that we are taking a break this week from Elite specializations, however there would still be some gigantic news, hopefully the announcement of LA being worked on?
So, I’ve decided that I want to level a Necro after seeing the Reaper!
I have a few questions. Is the class as rough to level as a mesmer?
What are good leveling weapons?
Is a minion master type build good for leveling? If not, what would you suggest?
….I may have to level a Necro just to get my light armor, scythe wielding Dervish.
They even mentioned Chilling Victory which made me tear up a bit!
This is of course, if Revenant does not satisfy my needs.
Shiro Tagachi is a confirmed Legend that we are getting, along with Ventari and Glint.
It’s hard to match a weapon to Ventari or Glint from GW1. I supposed Ventari would be a staff???
Shiro would definitely be daggers though. So my guess is daggers.
this game is nowhere close to release or they would already have a pre-purchase/pre-order through Anet
Pre-purchase was in April for the launch of GW2 in Aug…so we’re still 4 months out.
I’m looking forward to Ele and Revenant.
I loved the Guardian so that was A+
I might care about Warrior, just depends.
That would be cool too.
I’m still hoping that it does something else….I actually have the Warrior getting paired with the Revenant in my predictions, so hopefully its a stance that you can only go into at full adrenaline and lets you channel a legend to give you a new set of utilities and you get to Hulk out a bit. I know we have beserker stance, but it’s kind of bleh.
was def supposed to be a beta key…sadly, you got robbed mate….post it in the bugs forum and hopefully they can hook you up
people are guessing the new F2 skill will allow you to weapon swap with the burst skill
i.e. your in GS and build up adrenaline, then you can push F1 to use the GS burst, or you can use F2 to eviscerate and weapon swap at the same time to Axe/Mace
(edited by Jordo.5913)
not that it works anymore, i have it installed but it’s not even doing anything while it worked perfectly fine back around February.
do you guys personally use this and if so, for how long?
I’ve been thinking about using SweetFX lately, but I’m unsure if it truly is safe. I don’t want to lose an account that has five 80’s
I know you can be banned for 3rd party mods that give you an advantage, but this doesn’t really give you an advantage other than setting visuals to your liking.
If Gaile is reading this, or any other dev, can I get a confirmation that using SweetFX wont get you banned?
or, if someone has a link to a previous thread where a dev commented on this, could you link that for me, I’d like an actual “You won’t get banned for this” statement so if it does get banned, I’ll be able to get my account back.
Also, if you have been banned while using SweetFX and only SweetFX, were you able to get your account back after contacting GW2 customer support?
Hammer is the reason you’ll be in melee in the first place
If you’re an engi, you will get to melee range at some point, Hammer or no Hammer.
and who wants to use bomb and tool kits to replace that Hammer weapon you are getting?
Are they giving us Initiative or Energy to go with the hammer? I have cooldowns and I can’t swap weapons. I’m either using a kit or sitting there autoattacking with the hammer.
that is a good point about the initiative/energy statement….honestly, i’ve never played an Engineer, the class isn’t for me, and I think i’m still bleh about the class on top of having guns and stuff in GW2….I was peeved when they announced it before beta. I could’ve gone for an Arcane type Engineer based around the Asura though….because Magic.
(edited by Jordo.5913)
Hammer, bomb kit, tool kit are not ranged
Grenades are getting range cut to 900.
Rifle only has 1 attack, the auto attack that is ranged.
They are melee to medium range, by far more then they are at long ranged.
Hammer is the reason you’ll be in melee in the first place, and who wants to use bomb and tool kits to replace that Hammer weapon you are getting?
Also, shouts aren’t just for you, they are for all the other melee that are on the boss as well that your shouts will reach to, now that you’ll be in melee a ton.
Warrior – 2H Axe
Guardian – 2H Mace
Ranger – Daggers w/ Venoms
Thief – the upcoming Rifle will cover long range, i’d love GS, EVERYONE GS’s ALL AROUND!
Engineer – 1H mace
Mesmer – shortbow or longbow
Necro – Scythe
Elementalist – 1H axe
Spirit weapons for necros?
I highly doubt they will give necros 2 sets of what I feel are mediocre summons.
I mean, if you look at Marjory, they stated that she has already become the new elite spec for Necromancer, and she is wielding a literal spirit imbued weapon.
I also believe that Necros aren’t getting shouts. I just don’t see a Necro shouting commands and stuff like that, it would feel off to me. In lore, they are supposed to be this hiding in the dark corner type of class, that doesn’t talk very much. If you look at the 3 classes that have shouts, they are all “commanding” classes.
On top of this, Engineers need something to do while they are now melee, everything except gadgets and elixirs is kind of meant for range, and a lot of the gadgets they have, have knockback for kiting because they were range only.
But that said, I really think we should step away from the notion that an elite spec= “Getting something from another class” It CAN be like that, and it already is in some cases, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be like that.
the problem with that is that they are trying to merge classes together to make new classes…..Jon Peters said that Elite specs are GW2’s answer to GW1’s secondary profession mechanic
For instance, Chronomancer is Mesmer/Necro and Guardian is either Guardian/Ranger or Guardian/Thief, as they both had access to traps, however i think something else from thief will be added to another class rather than traps
i do agree with your statement about gadgets though….the elixirs on guardians seem a lot more like signets from other classes, most signets on the other classes give passive stat increases to precision and stuff….whereas elixirs give straight boons such as might/fury or whatever, which still technically increases your power/precision, just in a different way….i’ll prob take away the elixir part now to update it
(edited by Jordo.5913)
I mean eventually they will have to give somebody something besides elixirs or gadgets, or that will get boring real quick for anyone who gets the /engineer subclass each elite spec
Thiefs may get turrets, but it seems like a pretty core skill for only Engineers, plus I doubt they give Minions or Turrets to any other class from here on out. They were pretty against it after “Miniongate”, with too many things on screen at once!
I remember them saying they will have the same amount of utilities through legends as the other classes….each class has 4 types of skills + signets, each class has 4 healing skills, and each class has access to 3 elites
so i believe they will have access to 4 legends
but with the elite spec equipped the Revenant would indeed have access to 5 legends to choose from, because the elite spec HAS to add a legend….there is no other way around it….they don’t actually have utility skills like other classes
Not all classes use signets….
everyone except Engineer….but they have turrets, and it makes absolutely ZERO sense for anyone besides engineer to have turrets
going forward, can everyone please try to contribute something to the actual topic of the thread
(edited by Jordo.5913)
You already asked me about this in my thread, and I asked people to discuss it in my thread….it didn’t need a thread of it’s own, this is how thread bloat happens.
“Even if the Revenant subclass isn’t being added to Warrior and I was wrong about it, what do you guys think the class would absorb from the Revenant? I can only think of a Legendary Stance, or some form of “misty” skills.”
C’mon man.
Guardian = Consecration • Meditation • Spirit weapon • Shout
Warrior = Shout• Banner • Physical • Stance
Engineer = Elixir • Gadget • Turret • Weapon kit
Ranger = Shout • Trap • Spirit • Survival
Thief = Deception • Trap • Trick • Venom
Elementalist = Arcane • Cantrip • Conjure • Glyph
Mesmer = Glamour • Manipulation • Mantra • Phantasm
Necromancer = Corruption • Minion • Spectral • Well
just to better clean up what utilities each class has, we already saw that the grenade kit is now classified as a weapon kit, so Engineers no longer have Device Kits
I also removed weapon skills and the class mechanics that you listed as those are not being migrated across characters
I remember them saying they will have the same amount of utilities through legends as the other classes….each class has 4 types of skills + signets, each class has 4 healing skills, and each class has access to 3 elites
so i believe they will have access to 4 legends
but with the elite spec equipped the Revenant would indeed have access to 5 legends to choose from, because the elite spec HAS to add a legend….there is no other way around it….they don’t actually have utility skills like other classes
isnt Shiro one of the baseline Legends?
no one knows yet, they haven’t released the other Legends yet…..Shiro, Ventari, and Glint were data-mined though:
Glint was being used by the baseline Revenant in the trailer, or we assume that it is the regular Revenant. There were a LOT of elite specs in that trailer, so maybe that was showing the Revenant one. I don’t believe that to be the case though, because they don’t really even have the actual Revenant class done, so I don’t think they would be working on the Revenant elite spec so early.
Based on the data mine research with the Shiro info in the client coming last, meaning it was the last legend added in, it would make sense that it is the elite spec legend.
I also don’t think the other two, Ventari and Glint, really had a profession that it was. Which would make it hard to match up to any of the other classes.
(edited by Jordo.5913)
The concern people, myself included have with them is that they potentially make the base classes inferior. Not to mention we have no idea how long it will be before we see new specializations. I wouldn’t be suprised if we don’t see new ones for a good 6 months to a year after hot releases.
Most of the specializations are CC or Support based. Whereas the the base classes have more of the NUKE abilities.
Specializations are basically adding new classes to the game. They are taking the place of secondary professions that were in GW1. For instance, the Chronomancer is Mesmer/Necro. The Dragonhunter is Guardian/Ranger, or Guardian/Thief, we’ll know which one it is once the other specs have been released as both Rangers and Thiefs had access to traps.
I don’t see this happening….most of the skills that the first two specializations have gotten are known skills from other classes. Also each elite spec is supposed to combine two current classes so like Necro/Mesmer or Necro/Guardian. Yea warriors have banners, but there haven’t been any name changes to the skills being migrated to other classes yet.
I actually believe it will be Necro/Guardian and you will get Spirit Weapon skills, however instead of summoning spirit weapons to attack for you, it will be actual Spirits, with the Elite being Belinda Delaqua.
Mesmer/Necro – Wells
Guardian/Ranger – Traps
Necro/Guardian – Spirit Weapon
Necro and Guardian seem almost an automatic with Spirit Weapons. I mean Marjory is now holding a WEAPON with a SPIRIT attached to it. I believe it will allow you to summon spirits from the weapon itself to fight along with you, instead of summoning actual weapons to fight.
Thief/Engineer – Elixirs or Gadgets
Thief already has access to traps, which are kind of like Gadgets already, so my money is on Elixirs since when at range, Thiefs don’t have a lot of ways to access boons.
As someone pointed out, Gadgets could be used on a thief more like spy stuff rather than the Engineer’s explosive gadgets. I also wanted to point out that Engineer is the only class that doesn’t have signets, HOWEVER, Elixirs act like signets by giving access to boons that increase stats rather than just passively increasing them like signets, plus it would be really lame to get elixirs for the class that absorbs something from engineer. So Gadgets it is!
Ranger/Elementalist – Nature
Ranger being Druids will obviously be Nature Magic based. They absorb the “magicky” utilties of the Ele but it’s renamed Nature instead of Arcane. It could also be glyphs instead since they haven’t really re-named the skills that have been migrating yet
Warrior/Revenant – ???
I’m not sure what Warriors would absorb from the Revenant. Would they get a legendary stance to swap into with the F1 skill instead of their current burst? All the abilities on a revenant read “Legendary Dwarf” or “Legendary Demon”. Popular choices would be maybe Balthazar stance, or Koss/Jora stance as they were popular heroes in the GW1.
Even if the Revenant subclass isn’t being added to Warrior and I was wrong about it, what do you guys think the class would absorb from the Revenant? I can only think of a Legendary Stance, or some form of “misty” skills.
Elementalist/Mesmer – Manipulate
Elementalist is called Tempest, and manipulate skills would allow her to manipulate the weather.
Engineer/Warrior – Shouts
We see them getting mini drones in trailer, they also look very flashy with the hammer, and kind of look like a Warrior really. I could see a shout that summons the drones to fight by your side.
Revenant/Thief – Deception
Lastly Revenant doesn’t have utilities, so going into this line would give you a Legendary Stance instead. A legendary stance that is popular among fans is Shiro Tagachi who was the Assassion/Thief profession and did use skills that you would classify as Deception…as well, I do believe that Shiro Tagachi was already datamined to be a part of the game.
What do you guys think?
(edited by Jordo.5913)
you could call them Consecrations, i believe that word means making the an area holy….
The word consecration literally means “association with the sacred”. Persons, places, or things can be consecrated, and the term is used in various ways by different groups.
The only problem, is terminology is a big thing in this game as all skills are classified into a group which is then balanced around. For instance they have already balanced those skills around being able to stealth with Rune of the Ranger
Dragons are THE ultimate evil in Tyria. They are compared to natural disasters. In the Edge of Destiny book, many “Ooo and Awe” at DE for killing dragon champions and attempting to take down Kralkk. They were legends for a short moment, until they fail at taking down Kralkk and split up.
If you kill a dragon in the world of Tyria, there isn’t anything that you can’t slay.
What I’m hoping for is a longbow type that is akin to the Warrior’s setup and delivery of a big hard hitting attack.
I do not want a “deal x damage when y distance form the target” on the 1 skill…..i HATE that on LB Ranger and GS Mesmer, especially GS Mesmer, as rangers have the LB 4 skill to push them away, Mesmers have their 5 skill, but it doesn’t really push back that far
Well, the hunter part of the name comes from using a bow + traps, and because it is solo rather than with a pet, that makes it a non-ranger.
The main thing it is hunting is a Dragon and Dragon minions.
Thus, Dragonhunter, was born.
(edited by Jordo.5913)
Finally I can play a trap Ranger and not have to worry about that kitten pet! I just hope the Dragonhunter can dish out a fair amount of damage, while still being able to support.
Deflecting arrow seems like it could be very skill based to be able to use. I can’t wait for Ready Up tomorrow!
Also, I like the name, I was honestly hoping they didn’t use the name Paragon just to please the masses. Assassin got a name change as well and people weren’t too excited about it either, but eventually everyone accepted it and moved on.
Why would you assume that?
We didn’t get any mesmer/chronomancer themed outfit- the Exemplar Attire/Countess Anise outfit was a response to a community outcry.
Most outfits are also datamined weeks in advance.
that new Outfit as well as the outfit before it seem Mesmer themed….
the Balthazar outfit is heavily warrior themed, yet we don’t have the Warrior elite specialization yet, it was just a coincidence, they also don’t have the manpower to push out a new outfit every week for the next 7 weeks
Judging by the sudden rise in charged lodestone/core prices and demand, I’m guessing Wings of Dwayna/Azureflame are gonna be popular.
inb4 Azureflame is part of the reward track, like the Chronomancer’s shield
Defender, Sentinel, or Seraph
I vote +1 for having an elite be optional, that’s how it was in GW1. There were tons of builds that never even used an elite skill. Usually every build had a way to self sustain your own health, so the heal skill needs to be there, especially without a dedicated healer in this game. In GW1 you could get away with it since Monks and Ritualists could be built as pure healers. I vote completely no for the 5 skill being taken away. I already press 1 too often, so having less options to not press 1, I am against.
While we are on the subject, 5 is supposed to be the “pseudo-elite” of your weapon set, high CD, but tons of damage. I can think of a lot of classes where the 2 or 3 is ur best hitting ability on certain weapons, i.e. Blurred Frenzy for Mesmer, Hundred Blades for Warrrior, Whirling Blade for Guardian, Rapid Fire for Ranger
kind of wish they would change that
as of now, it will probably be tuesday somewhere around 12-3pm central time, they did say however, that if they determined that they didn’t have enough testers, that they will announce it to continue going
It’s not going to be called Paragon, it will probably be some type of Angel or Archangel.
The wings are too obvious to be connected with its name.
The same thing for the Chronomancer, you could see clock faces/gears inside the shield.
After 6 days of 5+ hours of farming, the Beta Portal has still eluded me. I believe it’s time to give in and cut my losses.
I would however like to thank all of you for making me roughly 400g while farming for the week, it was pretty fun, and I even made a few new friends!
(edited by Jordo.5913)
+1 to buying a beta slot, pre-purchase would be nice again!
SAB magguma sounds amazing!
I like ur hunger games idea too, but that game is now southsun survival, though i would be open to another mini game.
I just wish i wouldve had a better way to get this item rather than RNGesus, its starting to seems everything in the game is based on RNG rather than time spent, i much rather wouldve had a common drop and then buy the portal, maybe like 10k bandit crests or something, that way i can work toward it.
leveling a mesmer can be pretty frustrating mostly because our traits are pretty build defining, so while leveling do not try to follow a build….there are leveling guides out there for mesmer
I normally just do world boss train, and have lately been doing Vinewrath quite a bit. I’m trying to find a decent build.
I looked on MetaBattle, but didn’t see one I liked too much. I would like to do max damage without being up close and personal because for some reason on Mesmer I end up dead a lot more than my Warrior/Guardian, so I’m thinking maybe GS + Staff….there is a build on metabattle but it focuses more on Backline Harass in WvW rather than nuking NPC’s in PvE
Is phantasm the way to go, or is shatter the way to go for open world PvE?
It,s amusing to see so many people thinking they should have got a portal because they farmed XX amount of time for it.
Do you also think you should win the lottery jackpot because you spent 1000$ on tickets?
Ya, I feel like a lot of users didn’t pass high school math and don’t understand how probability works.
I don’t think many people know the law of probability. The law of probability states that 100,000 people could log in and get the portal on their first kill, or 99,999 could, or 99,998 could.
That’s why I’m saying Anet has something else besides just a drop rate keeping these items at bay.
It is SO easy to write a code, that adds the portal drop rate to a map for just a bit. So everyone in that map as .001% chance to get it. Once one person in that map gets it, it takes away the drop table for a RNG amount of time.
Anet had the ability to change a VISUAL part of the game, with the vines reaching the new pact camp, without needing to restart the game or put in a new build. I’m certain they can manipulate the drop table in such an easy way, so that then yes, they can control how many portals drop per map, per hour, and it’s still considered random.
Humans and math. It’s terrifying to watch.
Or you know, flag the account so that it doesn’t drop for them again.
Other than for your fragile peace of mind why does it matter and why should they bother? Doing so is more code, more checks within the system bogging it down and generates zero impact on the outcome of the larger process.
If only 10 drop an hour and you want to argue math, the law of probability could have all 10 portals go to one person…..highly, highly unlikely, but it could happen
what good is getting 1 tester in an hour?
((Mind boggles)) There’s not a magic faucet that spits out exactly ten per hour and duplicates are lost forever to the abyss! When there are ten times as many people active there are ten times as many checks to generate one. And on average 10 times as many portals produced. Your guy with nine extra isn’t some how stealing them from everyone else. Every check is independent.
Even if every check is independent, again, the law of probability states that there could be 1,000 people to log in and get the portal on their next kill. That simply isn’t going to happen because Anet has a cap on how many people they want in the beta. I can garauntee you Anet has a way to control this, and not just by making the drop rate .001%
The .001% will definitely slow the numbers from rising quickly, but just like RNG will be RNG to us the players, RNG could screw Anet and allow 1000 people (or whatever their cap is) in a single day before Anet has a chance to lower the drop rate, and one would have to be a fool if they don’t think Anet has a fail safe to keep that from happening.
