So I just hit 80 on my gaurdian and got geared out and I’m using a dungeon build i saw on Meta Battle

but I have people in fractals asking me to use a retaliation upkeep build and I have no idea what they are talking about

People really want it for the Kiel Asuran boss fractal so they can stack on the wall

I’ve scoured to web to find this “retaliation upkeep” build with no luck

So you think they are doing maintenance on it for an influx of pre-purchases for HoT soon?

It has nothing to do with Cantha, nor is it a hint of cantha…

(Personally I don’t want to see Cantha in gw2, and I really doubt we will given all the complaints about it from China)

what is the best option for AoE?

I’ve been using shortbow, but the attacks are slow, and doesn’t do much damage.

I thought about trying sword since it has a wider cleave radius, and then either pistol or dagger offhand…..probably dagger since i have all the stealth bonuses, but pistol whip is a long evasive AoE if placed correctly

Elona sucks, and the crystal desert sucks, not many biomes you can put in there, kitten, you can just go to dry top and silverwastes, and ur pretty much looking at Crystal Desert….just imagine the ancient buildings look like the one from the Elona district instead

Cantha, we get the Forest, Plains, City, Sewers, and Jade Sea

I can only imagine this is what the sewer system below the continent of Cantha would look like. It hit me pretty hard in the nostalgia feels and makes me want Cantha even more!

@Invictus Same. I’ve been doing my best to keep up on any info released and have yet to see even a hint about Revenant getting its own personal story, 1-80, like a race has. All I’ve seen is people suggesting that on the forums.

This does give me an interesting idea though. We might unlock specializations through personal story (or something similar) for each of our characters.

the thing is; it breaks immersion

the whole reason Revenants are even here is because Rytlock came back POST Zhaitan and POST Morde awakening (confirmed Rytlock is first Revenant on Tyria)

sending a Revenent through the personal story PRE Zhaitan to kill him would break all kinds of lore immersion

Revenant classes supposedly learn from Rytlock how to be a Revenant, so if they don’t get their own personal story, the story would go:

Rytlock teaches Revenant
Revenant fights Zhaitan
Revenant sees rise of Morde

Revenant witness’ first Revenant ever walking onto Tyria, except can’t because if he fought Zhaitan, the player character would have been the first revenant, but can’t be the first revenant because Rytlock taught them how to be a Revenant in the first place

goes into a lore paradox which would need some ret-conning somewhere

I’m trying to go back to my personal story to complete that, but every time I click “quit this episode” on Point of No Return, it just auto selects it again.

If i try to go to episode 1 of LS, and quit that, it goes back to Point of No Return.

i’m not necessarily fond of pvp though, so i’d like to avoid that if possible anyway…..looking for a more pve way to do it, outside of dailies?

I have been wanting to farm these to level some alts.

You used to be able to get them off the living story vendors but they are nowhere to be found in the silverwastes or drytop.

They also took away the glory pvp vendors, and took them out of the reward tracks.

I still see them on the queens gauntlet vendor, though no way to get festival tokens.

Is the only way to reliably get them through BLC and login rewards now?

They have to give their own personal story to bypass the Zhaitan story.

Rytlock is returning AFTER the death of Zhaitan to be the first revenent on Tyria.

If I had to guess, Revenant’s will get their own little area where they basically get a bunch of tutorials and quick story instance quests to fast level to level 80 kind of like Assassin, Ritualist, Dervish, and Paragon did in GW1.

Then their personal story will pick up where LS:S2 left off.

i’m using the armor that rytlock has…it looks way too kitten

you get like 30 laurels a month now, minus the big chest for the day 28 reward since i’m not sure how many that gives….

i’m sure i’ll be able to save some up before then….there is no increase in level cap though, so gear won’t be anything different

I would assume that it is unidentified dyes, but 5 laurels for kitten seems a bit weak.

Does the gear give you a better chance by trying to salvage for ectos?

or possibly the tier 6 crafting mats?

there is stag armor that is tier 3 cultural armor for Norn that u can buy right now….it is also a helm with antlers albeit not as extravagent as the gem store one tho

I’m going to say around April is when we’ll get it.

If you think about it, it took them 3 months to beta test the entirety of gw2. I believe they’ll only need about a month or two of beta for HoT. And Pax East is Feb 20th. GW1 10th Anniversary is April 28th.

And yes i know about the Q3 earnings, but that is not Anet’s projected, that was some Investor company, who tried to give people who buy and sell stock projections, their guess is as good as ours.

It’s a little premature to claim it’s a small expansion without seeing the content.

Colin has already stated in the Pax announcement we are getting one region comprised of three layers. Playable content wise, the release will be small. But as another poster said we are paying for a fix.

Region =/= Map

Regions are things like Kryta, Shiverpeaks, Ascalon

Kryta has 4 maps, 6 if you include the entirety of LA and Divinity’s Reach

Shiverpeaks has 5 maps, 6 if you include hoelbrek

Ascalon has 6 maps, 7 if you include Black Citadel

So it is safe to assume this new region will have 4-6 maps….along with 3 different levels for each. I would lean a bit more heavily toward 4 because of the verticality.

Then we’ll also probably get a new city hub with the Mursaat, the Golden City

It would be nice to get another melee option for the Elementalist, i feel like the conjure spells would make greatsword, bow, shield, and hammer not possible. Dual axes could be sweet! An Enchantress of sorts.

The “Heart of Thorns” is basically the epicenter of where these thorn vines are sprouting from; also known as Morde’s lair.

A better name for Season 2 is exactly what they have been using: “Point of No Return”

They’re doing dragons with the LS so Cantha is definitely not happening anytime soon unless Bubbles is somehow connected with it. Elona is a possibilty with Kralk but don’t expect anything until at least after the next season.

Why only Bubbles you think?

I would also think only bubbles would effect Cantha.

My reasoning would be he is supposedly somewhere in the un-ending ocean and is blocking passage from it, the same way Kralkk is blocking passage to Elona, except for the secret way the Order of Whispers know about.

Jormag is north. Morde is “supposedly” west. Kralkk is SE. Primordius is in the Depths of Tyria. Bubbles in ocean. Zhaitan dead.

Bubbles is the only one who could potentially be right at the shore of Cantha without anyone knowing, unless one of the others decide to fly there.

You can do basicly the same with minefield+barrage+sd. but its very hard to land it without stealth because minefield need 1 sec cast
