How else can you do duel elements then?

Like I said – make the new spec mechanic “remember” your previous attunement and work based on the combination of the two. So if you’re in Fire and switch to Air all ele stuff would work as if you’re in Air, while all the new stuff would work for Air/Fire.

I’d say this is the most sensible approach, from design, implementation and balancing points of view.

The problem would be if you went air fire what happens if you run the training -20% cdr for each and +power + precision how dose that work? Would it be a full -40% cdr and you get both of the + effects? I think if they make it so fire air would make the fire line have effects but not the air but if you went air fire air line would have the effect not the fire. There are problem with this. The only sure thing that will work to make this not comply op would be to nerf the when your in this atument effects. Effectively nerfing the core ele even more.

When GW2 launched, I assume Anet wanted the game to be standing on three foundations: PvE, PvP and WvW.
Over time, it was clear that each “pillar” the game was resting on would not be the same size and of the same importance. WvW these days is not carrying the game forward. It is not in the state of attracting new players or holding veteran players. I think it is fair to ask whether WvW will still be considered a foundation of GW2, when Anet is delivering the expansion pack 2 (in perhaps half a year or early 2018?).

What WvW is missing is a fundamental concept with the new expansion, because what once was its concept – server identity and server pride – is gone. The concept of nameless megaservers and game mechanic band-aids (I consider most of the things vier.1327 has listed as those) has failed.

Out side of open world pve what carry the game any more? Raids don’t because its a small population yet it gets a lot throw on it. Spvp has fallen a great deal. Dungeons are becoming pointless. No ideal how fractals are going. Wvw has fallen because of the lack of add ons (i guess you could say the same for the other)but there still a dedicated pop there fighting most nights and reset night still a very active time for it. What dose it take a Q a map (i not sure if they ever gave out hard number) but maps still Q and on more then one world so there are numbers on some level still playing wvw.

As for what wvw want i think is some acknowledgment that they are working on something and a real eta other then with in this year. No devs post on the wvw forms (though very few devs post here).

I think it comes down to make nose during there steam and AMA. There a lot of wvw players it should not take too many to push this issue and make them say something a bit more hard on what going on here.

This is just going to be moved to the WvW section and then ignored just like the game mode has been for the last 4+ years.

At least the forum mods kind of respond to post on these forms that are not about armor clipping.

But yes wvw is one of the 3 pillars of gw2 and to have it so neglected as it is with out any real info is borderline suicide for the game of gw2.

I must say talk about the ls seems and skins all though they are pve parts of the game yet they are able to stay in the guild wars 2 discussion and every thing else is kicked to the “hidden forms” is very disrespectful.

These WvW forums are a waste of typing if you want to get any response at all I suggest you post in the Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum after all WvW is part of the game and was touted as such ,then you know they will read it they respond in that forum all the time

Hay you know reddit where the dev realty respond to ppl. The dev even said wvw in the AMA that a lot more that been said on these forms. As in they just made one sentences about wvw and that it.

“We like Skirmishes and are looking to support this with rewards in the future. In general, for WvW, our priorities are rewards and ascended equipment.”

Clipping should not be a real issue its a bit annoying but some clipping is ok it can even makes some weird and cool looks. Its just the level of dev. response here that bugs me. Its just clipping there some major problems with gw2 in all places of the game and ppl want to talk about clipping?!

It takes a seriously large carrot to draw players into doing something like raids hundreds of times. Nobody would do them otherwise.

Not too many ppl do raids that a big carrot for not that many ppl.

Then there are those of us that abhor PVE in this game and spend the majority of our time in WVW. Who want the ability to gain content based on our game play, and not some silly mindless PVE content. When the game was released almost 4.7 years ago, the devs said that players could choose the content style they wanted and still gain the same rewards. Sadly they have not lived up to this, forcing us WVW’ers into doing massive hours of mindless boring PVE content to even obtain our ascended gear for our WVWing. Why we WVW’ers prefer that game mode you ask? It’s always different, because real players that change tactics play the other side. That’s the appeal of such content. And WVW over TPVP because it’s actually fun to beat greater odds (5 vs 10 for example). Which is not possible in boring arena based 5 vs 5 fights. But I digress, my point is this: ANET NEEDS TO ENABLE GEAR CONTENT TO ALL GAME MODE PLAYERS, and not just PVE’ers.

Well i had a though for wvw and i posted about it in the wvw legendary armor but no dev going to read that so how about here too! The ideal is to cap wvw at exotic level. So if you have legendary ascend gear it gets pulled back to exotic level. This will let Anet to add in an exotic level legendary set. Something you can swap combos on the fly and use rune with out losing the old ones. This means you cant get the best gear for pve in wvw but at the same time your always going to have the best gear in wvw.

You could keep the drops of ascended level gear in wvw but ascended gear should not be for wvw it should be a pure pve thing.

What about removing ascend level gear str from all gear and re balances it to exotic level and add in a set of legendary exotic level armor?

So all gear exotic or higher will be dropped to only exotic level and we can have a set of exotic legendary armor that we can swap on the fly like full on legendary armor from pve. So you cant get the best gear in the game for pve though wvw and at the same time you can get the best gear always from pve (even if they add in stronger levels).

This may even fix some of the condi problems and bunker problems in the game. Even the one shot builds. Though i have nothing to back that up.

Just make condi builds more glassy. It would force them to actually play the game. As it is now, many condi builds can afford to ignore several big hits while spamming cancer. Many of them can heal up and run too.

Out side of dropping condi dmg and adding in condi’s cirts i do not think you can make condi builds more glassy due to the sets they added in. The power creep adding in from HoT alone made condi builds impossible to balance in the wvw environment.

ITT: People want to gut a trait with an icd instead of doing the logical thing and just applying the completely fine PVP version in WvW. Ironic because we as Eles should know how terrible icd’s can be as a balancing tool.

NO!
Most ppl want icd to be fixed to be per person so you can spread out the effect to every one but not be able to stack the same effect on one person 20 ish times with in one of 2 skills.

I find it very unlikely for them to choose an approach where you can get two procs of different elements at once. It would be a nightmare to balance and it would make the new spec mandatory.

How else can you do duel elements then? Unless it was a couple lie (and it dose not seem like it is one) i do not understand how they will make it work with the old trait lines. I guess they could make witch ever is the first element to take the line so fire earth vs earth fire the first one fire line will take over the 2ed earth will. The thing is this cuts lines comply out from builds if most ele need to run water then you will need to run water / x killing a full element out for a more pure support. Unless the new line has a means of condi clear but if it dose then it may be too much clear on the ele class.

Do you see the problem here the lack of updating the core class of ele is causing a lot of problems for the elites and will keep causing problems if they do not fix the core classes first. Its the building on a bad foundation argument going on and Anet is trying to build on a non foundation for a lot of classes.

In a boring condition loving match right now, thought I’d give pvp a try. That game mode is just as worse. I can see why people find both wvw and pvp boring/frustrating. Both game modes just are not fun.

I think its more than wvw they don’t give a crap about Nikki, the entire game is getting really awful.

You should seriously give BDO a try. its 10 bucks now so what have you got to lose? I’m actually in a guild in that game composed mostly of former GW2 wvw players. There’s actually alot of former GW2 players in that game. there’s another guild of them we see occasionally that came from gw2 who named themselves “The Condi Meta” just to mock the state of wvw here.

Gave BDO a try when it launched. Did not like it even a little bit. Might try Crowfall when it launches, and hopefully CU when(if) it launches. GW2 WvW isn’t without hope, but it certainly is in decline.

I think most ppl are putting there hopes and dreams on CU more then any thing.

I realty tried to def wvw for a good 5 years but there something different this time HoT at least tried to do something all though its gear over all and elite spec messed up the balance to a point and made it raids only balancing. The next expansion seems to be only rewards that wvw getting. There just nothing left i cant def wvw any more.

I don’t see new gear combos working out well in wvw i don’t see new foods power creep that they just added in working well i do not see the new elites spec working out well and the lack of any real thing to look forward to make it feel like wvw is on its death bed.

Give me something Anet that is wvw aimed out side of a reward track that feels like its more passively added in. Do they even have wvw devs any more or has it gone into zomby mood like it sounds like spvp will be doing soon and has been done for gw1.

Well pass the cap at this point you still need a rev for its resistances spam and they will still run there elite spec. so your still getting a “free” +33% and now with the new food like item most tankly classes should have 100% boon duration. So ele rev and mezmers your boons will never fall off and they simply become a check box and nothing more.

So in a way they are no longer boons they are things you need to even play wvw well in a constructed meta way.

Loot most of the time on my end ele only a healing class now in wvw you do not get many tags. You also lose a lot of reward track progression due to having to go out of your way to help ppl stay alive and miss caps and tags on objectives.

WvW was not designed as a lucrative way of making in-game currency, and items. It’s sole purpose is to give players the ability to have large-scale PvP with the ability to capture objectives like towers/keeps/camps/mercs, ect. To test one’s metal, be in solo/group or zerg warfare and being proud of your servers success at capturing map objectives and painting it your respective colors.

In terms of money/loot, I’m pretty sure there are reward tracks, bags of loot, money, and karma being made, karma that can be in turn, used to buy things like, “Lost Orrian Jewelry Boxes”, that can contain good materials, and depending on what reward track you’ve picked, you can take those tokens, buy rares/exotics at the dungeon NPC and salvage them for ectos/materials that you can then sell to make money.

You all would be bored to tears if you knew what we in, “PvE Land” as you put it, have to do for gold, try farming the same content over and over for 5+ hours each day for a week straight or longer to afford a set of ascended gear, try entering a raid with the mindset of, spamming #1 on your keyboard, as you do in WvW pummeling a keep lord to death.

And adding more, “Exclusivity” to WvW would only drive a larger wedge between the communities, and I would think ANet would rather want their games community together and not going for each others throats.

It is made to give you loot that part of the reason you kill ppl and take objectives. Wvw even has its own in-game currency its just anet did not add in any thing good to buy with it. There lots of room to add in good items to buy with wvw currency and it could be added in with in days not months. There no reason this should be taking so long other then the fact that Anet is giving up on wvw as well as the devs.

Also if your bored to tears trying to do something then its bad game making it dose not matter if its pve rvr or spvp if you got to grind and its boring that not a price to pay that is realty bad game management.

I’ll buy it just for mesmer elite specialization and story(yea you can argue it’s pve, but well i realy like gw2 story)

50$ to be stronger is very tempting. It looks like the new ele spec is going to be much stronger dmg then core ele so i may end up getting it too just so i can play staff ele as dmg agen something i miss a lot in wvw. This has become p2w sadly.

I just hope ele not the last class to get put together as an elite spec or its going to be just like tempest where anet has to panic add effects to it out side of the ideal behind it to make it playable. And by doing so making the core class all the worst in the long run (over nerfs to the core because the elite spec is over doing it in one or a few places.)

This is true for all elite spec so please say something when a class is op (there is no way i am going to get on the beta test).

I also hope even if they are not adding any thing to wvw that they let the elite spec get a wvw beta test because balancing there is more important then pve.

Not necessarily. All existing effects can simply trigger for your most recent (let’s call it “primary”) attunement. The mechanic of the new spec would be the only thing referring to you previous attunement and affect/replace certain skills based on the combination of the two.

Sure, mechanically and balance wise that is the easier approach – only the mechanic of the spec (supposedly the change to the skill 3) is the “mix of elements”

But thematically wise you end up with a spec that is able to mix elements that even if is specialized in fire and water and in combining elements, is simply only capable of a restrict combination and incapable of combining the faster casting (CD reduction) to its mixed element spell or even combining glyphs or utilizing the effects of its mastered elements (while in Y element gain X).

If it ends up like that it would just feel – thematically – has a very amateurish elementalist and not as a specialist.

This will not make it easier to balance out ele at all if any thing its going to pomp more major nerf to the core class as in cdr traits that can (i guess) doable up on duel atuments. The logic would be well lets cut it dose to -15% from the 20% we have now so the doable effect is only -30% not the massive -40%. Or the only effect when in that atument will need to be changed some how to not be on most of the time like stone hart where you cant be crit when in earth. This may end up becoming a after swaping to earth you get this effect for a few sec or a hp % effect.

I don’t see this working at all and to make it work your going to need to nerf the core ele more.

This is not the path to fix ele this is the path to just sell a new shinny thing to players to the point of making the class unplayable with out it.

Tempest might not be popular from playstyle and ele ist more difficult then other classes but it´s not garbage and i enjoy it.

That the thing they made it op like most of the elite spec that the only reason why its not garbage. They gave tempest too much dmg when it should be nearly a pure tankly support class. They effectually killed the core class by making a ele +1 out of tempest. There is nothing specialization about tempest.

Actually a few friends at work are mentioning they converged to BDO and are liking it. I’ll give that one a shot, thanks

Uggg if it was not the grind in that game for its pvp… but then agen now with legendary armor being raids only gw2 not so far off these days.

You could probably get full TET gear in less time, doing less boring pve than it would take to get legendary armor, then have actual guild wars in a game that supports guilds and actually fixes crap that’s broken unike anet (condi mes being brokenly overpowered for the past 4 years and they still keep freaking buffing it with every patch for the sake of pve.)

And i chose the witch of all classes and its one of the worst in 1v1 lol just like ele.

Any way this just seem different this time like wvw realty has been broken as a game type yes you still get some raids and fights but over all they are very off putting in how condi heavy they are with the on and off switch of resistances they tend to be well kind of boring now. The pop. just not there for new ideals and the balancing dose not seem to be for any thing but raids now. I cant see wvw going any where other then the raids forces it to go. Why a group of 10 ppl have effectively taken over a game of i hope 100 ish devs is beyond me and how / why Anet stock holders are not realty seeing there drops in price. Anet has lost it as a game maker (maker is a bit strong as they only made 2 games so game curator is better).

Yep, no legendary armour for me then. My timetable doesn’t allow for raiding and I really don’t care for the looks of these anyway. I’d happily take up high end fractals or WvW again if they could earn a set, but not raids, sorry. Looks like I don’t deserve the QoL stat/rune swapping that raiders get, thanks Anet!

Anet want gw2 to be a job now so… i hope they pay well lol.

So why even have chill as a condi dmg for a mostly seemingly power dmg elite spec? At what point should the scy hit not as hard as the bleeds from the chill?

Because they didn’t want to leave a entire playstyle in the dust?

Condi necro not going away and the core classes should be on part with the elite spec but they need to be real specialization not simply the same thing +1 something Anet messed up big time with this set of specializations.

There is a big difference between how condi Reaper and condi necro play … and both are very close to each other in damage. That’s a big win IMO. Apparently, variety isn’t a think in your playbook? That’s unfortunate … most people LIKE choice.

Regardless, anyone that thinks there is something exceptional about Necro condi is being very choosy … there are more effective condi builds out there; if the argument is that Necro condi needs a nerf … it shouldn’t be the first condi build that Anet looks at for nerfs.

That IS the chose you play necro core and get more condi dmg and be more of a mages or you play the specialization reaper and be more of a melee power dmg class. Have ppl forgotten what the world specialization means?

Maybe I don’t understand what your question means then. You said the elites needs “to be real specialization not simply the same thing +1 something Anet messed up big time with this set of specializations”

…. but Reaper elite spec is not the same thing as the core on this class, even for the SAME kind of damage build. The Reaper condi plays completely different than the core Necro condi build. It IS different. Perhaps you were just stating the obvious?

Its different in a few ways but most condis are still coming from its epi the core class set up. I understand you can drop a lot of bleeds on ppl but there a lot of reward to drooping all thoughts bleeds on one person then epi them to spread them out. The best question to ask is it viable in spvp with only 1 stack and then ask is it op in wvw with 3 with that you find 2 may be the fix or something else (such as an icd say 1 sec per person OR a different type of condi that fits reaper more then bleeds say poison the main condi of the reaper.)

An nearl perma poison would be great for a tankly power dmg class. It would make reaper that anty healing class we been needing in gw2 for some time. Chill apply 1 stack of 5 sec poison icd 1 sec per person for all game types but raids (we need to keep it 3 stack of bleeding in raids because raids are comply alien from the rest of gw2 pve wvw and spvp.)

The new spec. that ppl think is going to be next is NOT the way to fix ele at all. There just going to be too many way to brake ele’s effects if you can doable up on atuments. The core ele got to be fixed so badly here.

So will traits doable effect things say you have -20% cdr to fire skills and -20% cdr to earth and your in earth/fire will you have -40%? Also will you get say stone hart going all the time say earth fire and Pyromancer’s Puissance all the time. I do not know this sounds like its going to be crazy op or its going to need a lot of locks on what atument doable stack can do. (How are these ppl game devs. i though you had to make good game making decisions to do this job?)

Images if your water earth stone hart and Soothing Power (i know its not the best but we are talking max tank here) how do you kill that? Or worst yet a fresh air with any type of on swap effect say air water endless heals and clears. There a LOT that can go wrong here.

In a boring condition loving match right now, thought I’d give pvp a try. That game mode is just as worse. I can see why people find both wvw and pvp boring/frustrating. Both game modes just are not fun.

I think its more than wvw they don’t give a crap about Nikki, the entire game is getting really awful.

You should seriously give BDO a try. its 10 bucks now so what have you got to lose? I’m actually in a guild in that game composed mostly of former GW2 wvw players. There’s actually alot of former GW2 players in that game. there’s another guild of them we see occasionally that came from gw2 who named themselves “The Condi Meta” just to mock the state of wvw here.

Actually a few friends at work are mentioning they converged to BDO and are liking it. I’ll give that one a shot, thanks

Uggg if it was not the grind in that game for its pvp… but then agen now with legendary armor being raids only gw2 not so far off these days.

Interesting to note that according to the reddit AMA Tyler Bearce is now on the Living World team. The best WvW dev gets moved off WvW to the xpac and now to living world leaving WvW development to languish.

About dam killed me inside for wvw (i have a feeling this is old news) but is there any thing left anet can take away from wvw?

Everything was ignored this patch. I think it just wasn’t a patch that was meant to do much besides LS content.

Its not just about the LS (as this is about leaks) there nothing about wvw at all in them. If they where making a new map odds are it would be there too. No new npc no new siege no new nothing… I guess the elite spec. are something but they can be just as power creep like as the first set of elite spec causing more problems then good.

Right, the mechanic of the spec is pretty much the best damage dealing skill we got, but it’s a tanky support. Tempest is a bit all over the place, that much is true. But to call it “tanky support” is to ignore a huge part of it.

Overloads won’t be nerfed anymore, because the class is not competitive in terms of damage, with higher skill requirements. Many players shifted to other damage dealers, so there’s zero reason to nerf ele’s dps output. Moreover, Tempest will not become a pure support line unless we have a different, damage oriented elite spec. For reasons I already cited. In other words, not before an xpac. Perhaps not even then. Only time will tell.

Most of the overloads are tankly effects and come with a lot more support and self sustane then any thing else. At best the dmg and dmg + was tacked in there after the fact due to ppl going on and on about how it should do dmg. Tempest is a pure tankly support class and they are going to keep nerfing overloads. Just because you do not like something dose not make it wrong i mean tempest is running the WH and nearly ever skill it has is support base.

If they don’t at a point tempest will be able to heal every one tank hits and do some of the best dps making it the end all be all elite spec and realty what the point of having specialization in the name if you do not specialized in any thing.

I love to see this set become the wvw version of legendary armor all though it would be lacking the skin effects for combat. Relay wvw players just want a gear set they can swap on the fly and not spend all there gold on testing new builds and losing runes that are hard to get though reward tracks.

So why even have chill as a condi dmg for a mostly seemingly power dmg elite spec? At what point should the scy hit not as hard as the bleeds from the chill?

Because they didn’t want to leave a entire playstyle in the dust?

Condi necro not going away and the core classes should be on part with the elite spec but they need to be real specialization not simply the same thing +1 something Anet messed up big time with this set of specializations.

There is a big difference between how condi Reaper and condi necro play … and both are very close to each other in damage. That’s a big win IMO. Apparently, variety isn’t a think in your playbook? That’s unfortunate … most people LIKE choice.

Regardless, anyone that thinks there is something exceptional about Necro condi is being very choosy … there are more effective condi builds out there; if the argument is that Necro condi needs a nerf … it shouldn’t be the first condi build that Anet looks at for nerfs.

That IS the chose you play necro core and get more condi dmg and be more of a mages or you play the specialization reaper and be more of a melee power dmg class. Have ppl forgotten what the world specialization means?

Stripping tempest dmg potential and giving it to the core ele would fix a lot of problems that ele has as a class. It would fix a lot of problems with the balancing of the game.

It would make Tempest pure garbage in PvE. It sucks when you can’t play your elite spec because it’s plain bad. Ask engi mains.

I am sry but tempest is a tankly support and if that is bad in pve then its bad in pve this is how Anet made the class why do you think i am going on and on about these things and about real problems with the ele class. At best you want tempest to fix every thing and lets you forget about every problem with ele but you cant do that because things will be fixed one day. Air overload and fire overloads are going to keep getting nerfed because that not what the specialization is for so its best to fix the core class of ele in the dmg department not the support sustane.

3 of the 2 that your applying? Get over your self ele not even close to the condi out put of a necro. And to ask for things to put on the same level is a reasonable request its called balancing not “well i like this class more then others so its allowed to be stronger” there is an give and take.

Condi necro under ideal circumstances does ~32k dps. Burn ele does ~34k without relying so heavily on whirling into specific (low-priority) fields.

By the way, about 6 months ago we briefly had a no-ICD proc on ele. You might recall the “shared ICD” on Glyph of Elemental Power. Basically eles could overwrite each other’s ICD on a specific enemy, effectively making the skill with no ICD as long as you had at least 2 eles around. It was so broken it prompted a hotfix. So yeah, keep dreaming.

Dude, you’re talking about pve. I’m speaking from a purely wvw perspective.

That’s the problem with these topics and that’s why they should be tagged with the specific game mode the OP means. Because in PvE? None of the discussion is relevant or even valid.

Most of the time ppl are talking about wvw or spvp. Icd are more about applying to mass targets then a single target over and over. Something you realty do not see in pve any more.
So icd for all the on hit skills of ele needs to be per “person” so a real player (talking wvw and spvp most ppl would call it mobs if they where talking about pve) that and they need to add an icd to other effects like dc to have an icd per person too.

The balancing in pve is not important its only important in raids but a very small population even plays that.

Fur showing on the charr would have been awesome. Unfortunately, the developers decided that since we don’t like “Feminine” armor on our charr, we want the all-covering male armor instead of something that’s awesome and unisex for charr.

That is wrong on the pre pre cursor the armors for asura and charr had the same chest piece as the human female and sylvari. Player feedback changed that.

Yep. The previous iteration had female Charr and Asura wearing bikini tops. There was a thread asking for our opinion on it and people did not want bikini tops for those 2.

I was there from the beginning. I don’t think it matters anymore.
If you have been around gaming long enough, you should have started to notice that manifesto was nothing more than a marketing smear to get you to open up your wallet.
Mmorpg evolves all the time. Though i have to admit GW2 is actually regressing rather than progressing. It is their game and they can do whatever they wanted it to be, unless upon purchase there was an agreement that the game will not turn this way.

GW2 was sticking by their manifesto only up to introduction of Fractal and ascended gears, if you haven’t noticed it. Everything they’ve done from there on was just one slippery slope heading to where we are now.

So I don’t know why people act all surprise and rage over rewards being locked behind raid. It was an inevitable outcome of the direction they were taking.
Manifesto was long gone. Please stop bringing it up.

If anyone of you still hanging around playing GW2 and thinks that manifesto still counts, you must have been wearing a massively jaded spectacles to have not notice how the game have changed over the years.

They are still here because there is nothing else to play as an mmorpg with that same mind set. The sec there is this game is all but dead. Why do you think other games crowdfunding where so high?

Also its not been a real issues up until now skins are meaningless and even if you got to grind for them there other ways to get other skins its just legendary armor is on a different level of being able to swap gear and now its a no lost rune set its just too much for a grind.

I said my views on all of this and if things work out the way it seems i am not chasing them. I get the feeling ppl are in denial about there own views so i am more or less talking to anet dev most of the time. There will be real consequent to gear like this being added with a raid wall. Just trying to give warning and the real storm to come.

You’re linking a video that’s both outdated and irrelevant. It is (and always has been) another over-hyped piece of marketing campaign. For example: You can’t actually take a taxi cab to Tyria, despite what their cringe-worthy marketing suggested.

This “manifesto” is on the same level as that. It isn’t a binding contract; it’s vague PR drivel. They’ve said things on their front-page blog posts that have not been delivered, forgotten about, or completely reversing their decisions on.

Its the selling point to most of the gw2 players. It may of not been to you but its very important to ppl and the more gear grind and pve walls the harder the communally going to come down on anet. Your not going to convince me i am just being blunt what about to happen in gw2.

Watched it then, and watched it again. There is nothing about no raids in the manifesto, or even that content locking was against their design. Only that this was not going to be like any other MMO out there (that is called marketing speak, they were trying to sell you something, without being specific). In my opinion, it isn’t like any other MMO out there, and they have done a wonderful job of following through on that. That is also a 6 year old video, to expect that the game and the game’s vision won’t change over time, is super naive.

They talk about being able to play the game and all part of the game when you log in. Raids are the type of game play where you need to grind to get to. Raids alone are not wrong for the game but how they are doing it and by adding in real gear progression in gw2 way IS a problem with the ideal of GW2.

Im sorry but dont i need to “grind” to get into wvw too? Get the apropriate stat type find the right builds get good at how to play for wvw? Or can i just get in and not be a drag to the commander?

This perfectly describes a situational aspect where it is better, but better does not mean stronger. Thank you for making my point.

To be fair, in a situation such as MMO combat involving stat numbers its not unreasonable to use better and stronger interchangeably. Particularly if the person using the terms may not be a native English speaker.

Some of those stat combos are actually better at what they are meant to do than non HoT versions.

I only got involved in that interaction because it as pretty clear that it was being sidetracked by semantic arguments over whether the new stats were better or stronger. Will they be more readily accessible to legendary owners than to non legendary owners? Maybe. Maybe not.

Any new stats will most likely be available to Legendary owners first (at least depending on how fast they can add it to the drop down). That isn’t to say that somewhere else they can’t obtain them that same day, just that they had to do something to get them.

And from a WvW perspective, I had suggested that new recipes be added to the notary vendor to make sure WvW players have easy access to them.

Why not just make them skins and skins only why is it so important that you can swap if this was not real progression in gw2 ways would you still want legendary?

You have any facts to back that up?

Let me give you an alternate reason. They added a new borderland at that time and they were (and are still) planning to add more borderlands. This means that WvW map completion
1) got bigger with the addition of the new map
2) was impossible to finish for people who still needed to do the unavailable old maps.
3) would have increased in number of maps needed each time they added new WvW maps.
4) they are planning to rotate WvW maps in and out of service. This would have caused problems with people who had one map partway done then it disappears and doesn’t show back up, possibly for months.
5) if they change it to only require any 4 WvW maps, map rotation would still cause problems to those who are working on one map or set of maps and it disappears before they are done and another appears and they have to start over.

All those means that people who had already gotten WvW map completion done had it easy and the people who still needed it can be forced to do extra work to get the same reward. So for reasons of fairness and to have the ability to add and replace new maps to WvW, WvW map completion was removed as a requirement for Legendary weapons. It was not because of people complaining.

Yep they removed map completion from wvw that alone is proof. And the same thing going to happen with armor and raids just give it time and the mounting pressor on Anet going to keep getting worst and worst because raids are highly exclusive content more so then map completion with wvw. I am just trying to tell Anet they are making an error and can fix a lot of pain for every one if they fix it now.

I gone point for point where your guys proof that putting legendary armor behind a raid wall is a good ideal?

Mate, you don’t know what you’re talking about. First, 3 extra stacks of burning would be a noticeable increase even in power build. But of course, you wouldn’t run power, you’d run condi. Second, a burn ele can outdps a condi necro as it is. Third, Burning Precision is taken in every meta build. Because it’s good enough even for power builds. Last, but not least (and I repeat myself), you’re comparing a minor to a grandmaster. You expect them to be on the same power level? That’d just be awful balance. You’re wrong on so many level it’s not even funny anymore.

While I agree that the trait would be OP without at least an 1s ICD, comparing minor to grandmaster doesn’t hold up anymore. There are lots of extremely strong minor traits in the elite specs, some of them almost as strong as the grandmaster, but certainly lots of them are stronger than master traits.

At a point the master vs GM etc.. becomes meaningless because your going to get the full line even if you do not want to. Now if you could chose to get only some of a line they the vs each level of name has reason but with out that effect all traits are the same level. We just like to pretend that it means something still.

Items like these should be for every one that the point of GW2 it not your stander grind game or at least it should not be made that way and raids are messing it all up making it into an off brand WoW.

Working for a vido game is and that what they want out of raider players the game is bcoming a job for ppl with legendary armor and it should not be that way. Game should be about fun so adding them in this way is a very bad idea.

It sounds like your playing the wrong game. This is not a raiding type of game and your only asking for more pain in the long run when your group falls off once they get there items before or after you. Pve players are some of the must cut though group get there loot and run type.

They don’t because of doable primate.

They did becuse it was too hard for pve players to get full map complestion what they ended up doing is letting eotm get the tokens they need for wepons.

You are even if you do not intend to. Legendary armor is from raids and only ppl who do raids will get it. This means its not going to be for everyone else in the game THAT is what the argument is even if you do not like it.

Wvw players have pulled full 24hr days just for there world and yet anet has given them nothing to show for it. There are some real dedicated players to there worlds and out side of one event (toxix tower) pve has nothing to do with there worlds. Its out right shameful how neglected these players are and how under rewarded they end up being even though they may play gw2 more then raiders. Wvw are the true gw2 / gw1 players of this game raiders are just off brand WoW players.

That the problem you want to be on the side that is not there its for raider or its for every one THIS is what we are talking about and the problem behind all legendary content even balancing for the last years. The fact that wvw players and spvp players cant get these legendary is cause for outrages. This is both the streamer community the players who make web pages forms etc.. the players who made lots of free content for gw2 / ads for them. This IS most of the population of gw2 and raiders are NOTHING with out them.

They haven’t even bothered to give wvw it’s own legendary back piece which is much simpler to do, why would they give wvw it’s own legendary armor set lol.

Still dose not make it right.

WvW was the selling point of GW2 not raids but there more work being put into raids. Anet realty lost there way.

And raids were a selling point for HoT. Your point being?

They where not open world content was the main selling point and the elite spec. Even some wvw of the new bl was part of that.

At the end of the day wvw players fight for there world and they should get something for it and its out right shameful on anet part that there been no back item or even weapons for wvw legendary and now we have armor to account for too. Raider fight for them self wvw fight for there world.

Situational as in killing players or keeping them alive yes so all the time?

3 vs 4 is difference 4 is more effective then 3 because 4 is 2 primary not just 1 think of it on the lines of 2 2 4 vs 3 3 1.5 1.5 because the off effects are not that much weaker then the off effects of the 3 set and the main effect is doable due to it have 2 primarily. This is the same reason why the all combo set celstal was removed from spvp. So your numbers you made up are super off to there effects.
Also boon duration and condi duration are a different beat in there own right you have them as off effect on the 4 combo but they are stronger then runes where. In a lot of ways the armor for duration in the off version is stronger then food and runes and even most classes effect.

Why did they remove map compression from wvw for legendary weapons? Its the same thing but its in the pve (raids) side now why lock content off for what you say dose not mater combo wizes. If it realty was just about the skins then all this would be an non issues but its not and they locked it off with raids.
This is not a QoL this is pure power creep for raiders and nothing more.

I can tell your unaware of wvw and that takes a lot of your argument away your trying to dictate who should and who should not get gear in a type you do not play. I am saying if your going to add legendary armor to raids you need to add it to wvw and even spvp. As well as adding in back items and weapons for all points of the game. The skins can say raids only because wvw and spvp players do not care.

You are asking for raiders and raider alone to get legendary armor a game type where you play for you self because of mass servers and pve lack worlds over all. Wvw is about playing for a full world and to take legendary away from wvw players or not give them a means to get them when playing for there world and not for them self is beyond shameful on anet part and i think if you truly believe this is the way it should be shameful on yours.
