Static field being small is actually a good thing, all you have to do is place it better and the enemy doesnt have alot of time to react.

TFW “lockdown” Scrapper’s Thunderclap remains radius 240. :feelsbadman:

Still 5 targets vs 10 smaller tends to be better for locking down groups of ppl vs just the one hit stun. All meaningless when there endless stab but every bit helps!

Now if they would remove the icd on static field so ppl could run though it 2 times being smaller becomes much stronger for stab striping (not tested it so i do not know if the icd is still there or not).

Only if this carried over to wvw!

Arcain wave and blast need an update now then we can make arcain skills the real core ele tools that they need to be.

Arcane Blast needs to hit a lot harder like a kill shot or should be more then just one shot.

Arcane Wave is now super weak compared to the new ice spike it should be a doable blast / 2 hit or should have some type of support effect for the user.

Its not a 50% dmg reduction but its less dps for sure. Staff just not a dmg wepon it has not been for a long time. The metor nerf was the true death of its dmg. Its a good support wepon now though. Only if they would fix air 2 out of all the staff skills why keep such a weak skill on such a long cast time and long cd is comply beyond me.

You have to build for clears on ele giving up traits. Ele the one class who dose not have a good utility for clears alone. You run water (selfish set up) or you run earth, arcain can kind of clear but not that well as well as fire but i think fire alone is the worst, air has nothing nor dose tempest.

Ele is just hard counter by condis and any type of boon control that why ele is super weak in this meta for pvp.

Well, I wouldn’t say super weak but indeed not that great. Gotta remember that almost every team in the Unity tournament was using ele in their team. A different story for soloQ obviously.

Compared to other classes ele maybe the weakest. Unless they build all in to counter them meaning 2 lines at least dedicated to cleaning condis. The big thing is ele lacks both resistances and a blunt dmg -% take from condi dmg.

Its not about pips its about tickets pips are meaningless with out them. Say if they add in tickets that you say can get from daily in wvw maybe that would help. The thing is you cant make wvw better at getting the best gear then say pve as you can get a lot of pve rewards though wvw with the reward tracks. All top level trinkes ring earring neck even backs items are best gotten though the new LS season 3 reward tracks this has nothing to do with ranks. As for armor and wepons is where tickets come into play BUT you can still get rng drops and you need to have cap crafting to get this armor meaning your still getting most of it though pve where you could craft an armor set much simpler. If any thing tickets are more about skins then any thing else.

If you truly want the best gear in the game out side of just skins pve dose it faster and better and you can still do that pve in wvw. The pip system is more about wvw only skins and it should take a long time and ppl who put time into the game should have a step up from thoughts who did not put the time in.

Lower the Rank Requirement for Armor

From a real point of view you need a lot of ticks to even get the t2 and t3 armor. That alone should be so time gated that you will get the ranks to get the armor. Well unless your doing the max pip tricks and not realty playing wvw. If that then NO ONE has any sympathy for you in wvw.

If you where zerker in wvw most ppl would asked you to GTFO of wvw back in the day. You are mixing up pve things with wvw even in the WVW part of the forums.

I do not see why pvp must be so hounded by pve balancing.

The on arua boons though this rune needs to be stronger or on a lower cd. +33% seems like enofe. Now i would not mind seeing radiance or some other rune set getting an “when under effect of an aura” you get a + effect much like str runes when you have might you get +5% dmg.

For wvw time gate is ok. Think of the new ticket system as a means of a long term goal not instant gratification. Relay if you must have the best gear items etc… your still far better off doing pve and not all that much of pve but now there something you can be working on when in wvw for gear and weapons ontop of a legendarily back item.

How can people say this game is balanced around pvp while there isn’t even a pvp balance team of dev lol.
The balance of pvp in this game is just around change/removal/add sigils, Runes and amulets.
In every patch we had since raid release the balancing of skills and trait is 90% focus in PvE and 10% on pvp with really soft impact on it.

Yeah im wondering why people keep saying that the game has PvP aspects around balance.

The new PvP dev wrote a comment basically saying that he wasnt in charge of anything.

Im pretty sure Grouch left and the new guy came in like awesome great job. Then saw all the complaints and tried to change it and was told no and then vented to the community.

The small PvP changes they make dont even really make alot of sense. Instead of adjusting the damage on the F1 primal bursts they said SCREW THAT, DEATH TO ALL WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because your using pvp as being spvp only and not thinking about pvp over all as a type of game play that has wvw.

Most ppl are saying pvp they are saying spvp and wvw or over all pvp effects of skills such as unblockable utility that effect healing etc.. things that do not have any real use in pve. This is getting more back to the old ideal of GW2 and what balancing has been up until they added in raids.

Most skill depth in GW2 dose nothing for pve its all about how they effect players and there skills. Pve is gw2 light pvp is the real gw2 (more so wvw then spvp but spvp still has a lot more of gw2 in it then pve.)

Ya sadly power dmg is still weak in wvw there just too much “take 0 dmg” and over all power dmg mitigation. Ele one of though classes who have nearly no anty dmg mitigation too so it becomes a 2 fold hit to the class. The best trick is the bate out the long ish cd and if they do aim to block swap to fire and try to land a phoenixes.

You realty should aim to play wvw for wvw not for rewards.

I’d say the most important part off leveling up is for the wvw skill line, the rewards are minimal at best… This may be his aim.

Its not as important any more as you think. They removed the vit + and dmg + from npc stacks. There always going to be some one there that has the lines level up for siege so… its just not that important for new players.

I guess WvW is close to PvE, and the gear can all be purchased without leaving the borderland. With the idea that there are new rewards, I’m worried about players who want the new Legendary will be disappointed that they need more than just WvW materials.

As long as they do not lock it off in the super exclusive content of raids like they did with the armor its ok. Weapons have been all over the places and most wvw players can get them. Its just how painful raids can be that realty messed with the wvw players base.

Its back item only so i would not call it “gear” and wvw has a lot to do with pve in effects wvw is its own pve contend with in a pvp environment. In a lot of ways Wvw players put more work into pve then pve players because wvw uses up a lot of items that pve players do not need to use. Wvw players use food and wrenches as well as siege pve players just use food and wrenches.

In a way wvw is a microcosmic of gw2 over all both pve and spvp and is a full use game type where pve can hid from pvp and spvp can hid from pve. Wvw cant hid from pve and it cant hid from pvp (spvp).

Don’t fool yourself. This game has never been “PvP aimed”. Just compare the amount of content available in PvP and PvE. And compare the amount of PvP content available in GW2 vs a real PvP game.

And you keep missing the point. I never claimed the majority raid. The majority PvE. Therefore, PvE being a focus is a necessity. Raids only come as a sort of balance proving grounds because they exist. It doesn’t matter if they’re played by 70%, 7% or 0.7% of the PvE population. They are just the most efficient indication what’s wrong in the game mode. Once your focus is PvE and you have raids being the high-end content in the game mode, it makes no sense to use something else for the purpose of balance.

Its been pvp aimed from the starts because of the bid for esports why have you forgotten the last 5 years of gw2. Its only HoT and mid to late HoT where pve raids become the drivers for balancing.

Just from the level of unblockable boon strip and corruption in the game alone is very showing that this game is a pvp aimed game not a pve aimed game. (These effects are worthless vs mobs only vs players.)

Back on the point Ele in wvw the aim for a bit. Ele lacking good anty dmg mitigation. Even at 25 stacks of Vulnerability its not enofe ele needs unblockables or means of dealing with boons or means of dealing with healing. This is what is holding ele back for being a real power dmg class. Its ok as a support maybe even too strong as one. There just a real lack of chose when it comes to what your able to do on ele atm.

I think ele needs to have a unblockable time for its skills so you can land a big bomb but with a long cd. Ele needs a way to make ppl have boon duration -% not a full on strip. I would also like to see ele have a way to make healing less effective or more if a person is at low hp effects maybe add a stronger condi to them such as a strong burn when some one is at a low hp to finish them off.

Total dmg is very different from burst dmg. When you have a game like GW2 with every class having some type of heal on some level contestant dmg becomes weaker. The real dmg is burst dmg.

I don’t know about pvp, but in pve power builds are still stronger than condi ones at burst. It’s in the long run that condi builds shine.

So vs any boss type mob? Is it realty a thing to be best gear vs trash mobs that just seems silly and a waist of a person in your group.

Its sounds good over all. I hope this rewards work out well i can see the maps becoming a bit tag happy with getting added rewards for being a commander with at least 5 ppl. Every one going to be a commander lol.

I still like to see some more skill split from wvw vs pve (raids balancing dose not apply well in wvw).
That can happen some other time and as things progress (so it dose not need to happen all at once just skill by skill that end up being “problems” in wvw but are ok in pve raids).

Truth be told raids are not going to last that well after HoT any way and most balancing up to this point wvw had to deal with was due to raids. So at a point Anet going to be balancing pve from an effect dead game type.

Dead gamemode? It’s far surpassed their expectations of participation and is thriving even now..

Players play up to the point of having fun or getting gear once you take out one of though things you see a massive die off. HoT raids added in the best gear that will be in GW2 till the end of gw2 there is no more progression after that point. For the raid mind set once you get this gear its the “i win” the mmorpg moment.

May not be dead now but raids are going to fall off soon even faster as the next expansion is out.

This is the treadmill and how truly emptily such a system is even if it was a one step.

Anet has killed raids that only lasted with HoT because the best gear is dropped though HoT raids.

Its realty on Anet to see what they are going to do with the other game types spvp and wvw and maybe open world pve (set pieces fights are always fun). If they feel they need to keep balancing arone the one shot raids it will spell gw2 death. If they keep updating spvp and wvw and open world pve it should keep going for a time.

Anet has a real problem with working on new things before the old is done / fixed. There a lot of cover over where one game type becomes every thing or a new skill becomes every thing.

Depends on your own usage pattern, don’t you think? To me, spvp and roaming balance importance is zero. If you want to claim they are objectively more important, you’d need to prove they are being played by more players. Which you can’t do, as this type of information isn’t publicly available. Hence the claim would be essentially empty.

GW2 for about 4 years of its 6 years history was a pvp aimed game its only with HoT did raids come in as well as important with pve balancing. Its not realty relevant what you think history shows that this game was made with pvp in mind and pve was more of an after though out side of story and showing off effects or art work.

And truth be told raids are going to die off now after HoT because the best gear in the game is from HoT raids. Even if they did add in gear progression with the next set of raids the best armor still going to be from HoT raids because as far as Anet has said legendary are always going to be the best gear.

So in a way Anet has only had a small time set of viable pve only aimed game play and they ended them self. So its still to even base balancing on pve for much longer or your going to be balancing the game arone a game type no one willing to put the time and work into because there is nothing new to get form it.

Spvp and wvw are the only game types that will last out of HoT and the next expansion as Anet has killed pve for a lot of players now. I comply reject your point of view and that is why.

PvE will always be a priority in this game. Get this already – it’s a PvE game. WvW and PvP are there, but the game was primarily designed as PvE and the majority of its players are PvE. Therefore, PvE will always be a consideration when making balance changes, so long as we don’t have a full skill split. Which we probably never will. And get this as well – as far as PvE balance goes, raids are the only place where builds can actually be measured for efficiency. Of course the balancing will be based around their performance there. What do you expect, balance around Queensdale heart completions?

Spvp and wvw builds effective and balance are way more importunate then raids pve. In raids pve most of the soft cc unblockable effects boon strip / corruption realty all the effects that have been put into the game as counter play to other classes are meaning less. And lets not get into the fact that they effectually added in the best raid gear in the game and are not looking to make new skins for that level of gear making raids HoT only.

What has happen is that Anet is trying to push the game that build for pvp into a very hard to fit pve raid balancing. Open world pve is where most of the players are playing but that still not balanced and never can be.

More healing and boon duration for the condi gods.
So Magnanimous Tuning Crystal and Delicious Rice Ball because that the only way you can play ele these days in wvw groups effectively with out simply being a “if a person see you you die” class for nearly no reward.

Incidentally, Ferocity similarily does nothing for condi damage.

You really have no idea how condi works… if you cut the condi duration by half, you cut the total damage from every condi skill by half. If you cut the condi duration, you make it harder to achieve higher condi stack numbers, and thus decrease the condi pulse damage. People don’t take viper gear over sinister for cc applications. They do it for damage.

As mentioned above, decreasing condi duration does enough of a fine job, and there’s quite a lot of options for that, if you just want to use them. And if you don’t use them, then you should not complain.

Ferocity is not close to the same becuse its a trigger effect off of crits. As in if you do not crit it dose nothing for you. Condi duration effects both the over all max dmg of a condi and the duration of soft cc. If ferocity effected say armor pin (something not in the game) or say stun duration you may have a point but it dose not ferocity only effect crit dmg when you crit. Condi duration effects dmg and total duration of soft cc.

A high tick of condis though stacking IS a burst dmg effect. It becomes worst when you have more then one type of condi. A duration – only going to stop that max dmg but that rarely going to happen or as a player you could apply one stack of condi dmg and simply walk away because its very easy to get duration much higher then any duration – in the game.

Condi is the utility for most power attks at least that how it was when the game first came out. Only 2 main condis where pure dmg burning and bleeds (burning was the very static dmg and bleeds the stacking condis) confusion was the punish condi poison was the anty heal and that was it. Torment was added in as a mean of counter to moment but it simply replaced bleeding. Once they added stacks for burning and poison you took mostly utility effects for attks and made them into there own dmg. So now you have added effect from attks become the only reason to do the attks.

Right now condi is the only important dmg in GW2. It has its own build in counter system, it has max share effects, and it even has combo that help out other effects. Anet has tried to fix this by making classes have more heals and stronger boons but its making the game into more of a have / have not for class comp. Its simply patching over a problem by making GW2 into something that it just not a class requirement build requirement benchmark game.

The problem behind condi is a few things mostly that it makes a passive game. It lets players spam that one skill and get the most out of it. It dumb downs rotation for most classes to the point of bot viable level. It a great deal more taxing to ppl pc and gw2 servers causing more and more lag. It comply destroys any thoughts of build divisively.

Say, how exactly is using skill X to deal Y damage different for condi than for power again? You even dodge it to avoid the damage.

Condi keep calculating your condi dmg and duration every tick so once applied to a target its as if your making another use doing an attk. It becomes worst if you doing different types of condis. If your attking with a skill to do y dmg as you put it that the end of it right there. What i am saying condis are causing lag.

Condi duration has no equal for power dmg. That along of gear sigil runes and food makes it much better then any thing power dmg could get.

I am not sure if you can clear as a counter then say an effect that is a clear as another point any way clears are on much longer cd then condi application that and the way the web works as in ping you never can get a perfic clear out side of auto clears so i would not call that a hard counter.

Duration -% is not dmg -% taking from condi dmg (duration -% tends to be a conter to soft cc not the dmg) and there realty not much general condi dmg -% out side of some clases who have it.

At this point sadly I agree with you. I dont see any real solution to the mess aney created.

Thankful that just because one person cant think of any thing to fix problem we do not destroy everything. That far worst then having a problem.
Its a very bad mind set and you would only say this for problems that you may not have to deal with all the time. I mean how often do you feel you need to pull out all your teeth because the ice in your drink cause you harm?

There are ways to fix wvw and they do not need to be a lot of flash or even that big. Anet just got to put real work into it and communicate with the wvw community. The WvW devs NEED to post here at least once a week.

People simply love to complain. They will always complain and about pretty much anything in this game.

This current balance is what you get when people refuse to see the difference between DPS and burst, when they refuse to see a point in more complex rotations providing higher numbers, when they refuse to understand DPS uptime, when they insist on their class being the best choice for everything and many other factors.

Its much more then simple complain at this point this is a death dealer for the game of gw2 to push to condi dmg base for all game types. If spvp wvw and pve (open and raids) go over to condi only the game is effectively over.

Condi has the best food best gear best sigils best utility and for the most part the “best” skills. Power has fallen behind nearly at all points of the game.

The problem behind condi is a few things mostly that it makes a passive game. It lets players spam that one skill and get the most out of it. It dumb downs rotation for most classes to the point of bot viable level. It a great deal more taxing to ppl pc and gw2 servers causing more and more lag. It comply destroys any thoughts of build divisively.

There are other games coming out “soon” and condis are going to push ppl from playing gw2. There going to be a major mass movement soon if Anet dose not do something about this. You can say its all fine all you want but its not going to stop what real going to happen here.

It has nothing to do with wvw why condis keeps getting buffed its because of raids. Nothing in GW2 atm is because of wvw its all about raids i think even open world pve has taken a back seat to raids.

Before the revamp, conditions were really uneffective as a damage source, some niches put aside. Everyone was still about “zerk zerk zerk”.

Now, conditions come to be really effective, but I’m not sure power builds aren’t viable anymore. In PvE, it doesn’t change much to have one or the other, and, given the few times I browsed metabattle or qtfy, I’m still seeing zerk+scholar runes as the most frequent suggestion.

In WvW, that’s another deal, for more reasons that’d be too long to disclose here, and maybe off topic a bit.

I’ve got two thoughts on this :

  • Play what suits you. In most cases, you’ll be as affective with condis than with power. You may only take a little more time or skill to perform. You don’t need to enforce the new trendy build to have fun.
  • The one and only true “meta” in GW2 is “just deal damage as fast as possible”. Any kind of sustain build is useless in vast parts of the game. Condi or power doesn’t really matter in the end of the day.

Before the update condi was the utility of the game and utility for power dmg attks. Now its both the utility for the game and the main dmg for the game.

Its also a big cause to the lags in wvw maybe even pve. Condi dmg keeps getting updated so its like having many more players attk the same target for each condi type and condi from players going off at the same time. So an ele who doing burn / bleed is doing there attk power dmg the current tick of there burning and the current tick of there bleed. The ele data becomes 3 fold.

More to it then that even in wvw there are simply too many get in the way targets “pets” for ele to ever be comply effective. After the GoEP changes there no more icd per person something that ele NEEDS to makes its aoe attks viable. Ele is a class that is punished for trying to use its skills to there full effect. Ele is rewarded to using its aoe as a single target attk. If they keep this tread up ele will be unable to even auto attk in fear that it will trigger one of its icd or eat up a charge.

Condition in game needs to be reworked, no only as how it applies the damage but also the spamming.

But well Aney doesn’t want us to tell them how to fix their one game now, do they?

I realy think we are more help the harm with getting info out there. Kind of “free” workers or many eyes and point of view. So say one dev can not see the full consequences of there buffs and nerfs because they are just one person but if you get your players to chime in about the buff / nerf and how it effects other things (and the devs are willing to lesson and act no devs on wvw forms sadly these days but a few) you can get some real good fixes going. This once a 3 month balance update is killing this game it needs to be much more often and more windows of hot fixes base off of the community talking.

Any way GW2 been going on for at least 5 years 7 if you count them working on it over all the devs are most likely bored with GW2 and what to work on something else. I mean have you been doing the same job same thing day in and out for 5+ years of your life and not been bored and in being so slacking off?

Condi works better with support way better then power dmg. Condi only needs 1 combo to be effective where power needs at least 3.

Really now? Resistance is the only defense against condi spam meta and believe me condi spam meta is boring as hell. It is cheesy and tanky at the same time. There are not enough condi cleanses in the game to prevent condition damage properly.

Someone said not every class has boon corrupt. But not every class has resistance either. Only revenant and some mesmer builds can give it properly(mes is bad though). So either corrupt or use null field for resistance problems.

Yup, without resistance it becomes a horror show out there in large scale fights. People just don’t understand what they’re asking for.

With out resistance wvw is unplayable atm its more important then having gear on. The thing is resistance is too much of an off and on switch for playing and condis are too much of a must have too. They both need nerf badly. Hell most of the lag in wvw now is because of condi spam and with out resistance the lag tends to be too much to be playable. Anet realty made a comply mess of things.

I didn’t mention damaging conditions back then cuz they weren’t a problem, but I think a hard cap on the stacks might be warranted. idk.

Over all boons and condis needs to be re-looked at. Just adding in stacking of condis with out chasing any thing else in the game was a bit silly. At the same time adding in a boon that is an invariability to a type of dmg / effect was also silly.

How much per tick would be too much per condi. Burning should hit kind of hard torment and confusion should hit the hardest if there conditions are met. Bleed should be the avages but it needs something more then just dmg maybe a counter boon duration as if the boons are “bleeding away.” Poison hits way too hard for its added effect / condi dmg +% so it should be a low stack.

Really easy to corrupt. It’s the first thing to go. It’s a L2P issue

Not every class has corrupt the problem with resistance is 2 fold its hard to get and it effects soft cc.
Resistance needs to act more like a dmg -% for condi and by being weak needs to be on a lot more skills and all the classes.
As for counter soft cc there needs to be more temp leaps or even time farms where you cant be effect by soft cc out side of boons.

The other arcain skills are realty behind atm only arcane power makes elemental surge worth it.
Being able to land root lets you get free shots in. If you do it right arcain power with a group of a few others you can nearly perma root ppl letting you land a full rotation.

An open pvp/pve map with temp. objectives that have rewards behind them for both holding and taking. Not like wvw but more guild vs guild aimed.

Also maybe boats and sea warfare (have buffs that you cant fight as well underwater unless you have a “buff” or a diving suit on.)

In other words, we have Revevant 2.0 as an elite…

Most revs only run there elite version. There also no upkeep the main thing behind rev.

It seems more like a thf with the combo 3 skill with a bit of mez in there with mantras. I guess the atument combo are rev like in the chose.

So its kind of confusing what its off class is maybe its just a ele / non ele with a mix of other classes.

For wvw and running d/x out side of full support mix is best. For spvp there just bunker support. For Pve open world staff still best at tagging so power. In say dungeon and fractals i do not know. For pve raids i think condi is the best atm.

Kind of related to combat redesigned i also cant think of where else to post this ideal.

Changes all icd to a charge system but have though charges used up per attk / attk pules (making them aoe and if you miss you still lose 1 charge). At the same time add in charges to non icd effect that are kind of op because they do not have them (chilling death).

This will keep that burst ppl love but make it so you have time in-between that burst a kind of cd like effect. This will add in more counter play to seeing a person with these charges and more bating of holding your charges. It will remove a bit of the rng of icd and give players a bit more control over there attks.

Not sure were else to put this but more on the lines working with in what anet is doing to ele. (I am not realty good at starting threads but i would love to suggest this ideal of charges system over icd for on hit on crit on etc.. effect over icd)

I think if they could make the charges on GoEP and arcain power deplete base off of attk not players hit would go a long way to fixing ele as a class. In a lot of ways you can add in more ammo like system to all the icd if you make them trigger charges lost per attk and not per person hit. So thinks like blinding ash could say have 2 charges for 10 sec but keep its aoe burning effect. Giving the ele 2 blinds ever 2 sec for 2 skills that do apply burning.

You could even lose the % for the other on crit skills and make them aoe at the same time cutting out the rngness of the on crit effects with out making them super stack-able.

For other classes too if icd become charges per attk and or attk pules it would fix things like chilling death but keep them very powerful for burst. It also adds in counter play that you can see the number of charges some one has on them so you know when these effects are coming. It also lets you bate better if your the person with charges to scare ppl into trying to avoid your big hits.
