Kick the idiots

Sorry, but I have RPd in 5-6 different taverns and it happens everywhere, even in overflow. Once again, you are suggesting that a few idiots should be able to run rampant over and entire group of people. I don’t care if this is an MMO, people can’t get away with that kind of crap iRL. It is precisely why clubs have bouncers, to bounce the idiots.

And you want to be the bouncer? Sorry, that won’t work. You could get 10 people to vote them to overflow, and they can probably get 100 to vote 1/2 of you to overflow, and not the rest.

Again, use the ignore feature. If they continue harassing somehow, then place a ticket for harassment. The real “bouncers” are Anet. If we let people take the law in their own hands, it will not end well…

So everyone has to add 2 idiots to -their- ignore list? Why give the idiots so much power?

I specifically stated that I was not the only unhappy person. In fact, there were about 15 RPers there who were upset.

You can’t define how others play. Maybe they were having fun doing whatever it was that was bother you (intentionally or not). And that is exactly why we have ignore lists.

That comes with the territory. If you play a massive MMO, then these things are bound to happen. If you do not want this to happen, then do not do it in such a public place. Pick an inn further away, one that people do not come to often. At least we have an ignore option, which we do not have in real life…

I understand what the OP wants, which is some sort of advancement when at max lvl and gear. However, that upgrade option is not a good idea.

Say someone does get a weapon and set of armor to +10. That person will be more powerful than a person with a +1 set. That will skew the balance of the game, and make people with more money/time more powerful than the rest… That would put us back into the track of giving more power to the people with more money/time. Something that Anet is trying to avoid.

So it would not be a good idea. I think we should have lots of things we can do at 80, and they can be very time consuming, but they should not reward extra power.

Remove the Experience bonus from food and potions

This is not a good request. Leveling speed is completely subjective. Some will feel it too slow, some will feel it too quick. Even if they removed the xp bonuses, you would still feel it too quick, and others would feel it too slow. So leave it as it is.

If levelling speed is subjective as you say then surely people should have the option of not being force fed levelling food in order to get the other bonuses on it. For instance if u want to eat some magic find food (which is a lot more convenient than having it on your armor) why does that need to be combined with an unwanted XP bonus?

The other bonus (besides your “unwanted” experience bonus) is also optional. Do you think the game is so hard that the extra bonus makes or breaks a character? There is no need to use any consumables in the game. You can play it just fine without them. Heck, it might actually make the game a bit more challenging when you overlevel the content, which was another of your complaints.

It’s just the way food is designed. They decided to add that little bonus to it. Next thing you’ll want the WvW bonuses removed (one of the WvW bonuses is extra xp, and it’s % based so it can be much MORE than just a 10xp on kill).

Bonuses are just a little extra, and that food bonus is almost nothing compared to other bonuses. I really see no need to try to change something that is not really broken (broken in the sense that makes the game unplayable, or breaks balance somehow).

More PVE in PVP? I think there should be less… This would just give more power to the already dominating server. If they have more people/organization, they can just camp the godzilla button like the hold the central castle all the time. Sure, the losing server could take it sometimes, but the majority of the time it will be taken by the big servers kicking butts.

You are kidding, right? The amount of abuse you can do with such a feature is outside any scale…

In your situation, the people making the “noise” could get his friends and banish you. So much for that.

Now, a good recommendation, would be to give the option to voluntarily go into overflow. So if you find some people messing around, you can go there yourself, and they won’t be there.

Now, if you feel you are getting to 80 too quickly, then a suggestion of more stuff that can be done at lvl 80 would be a better suggestion. Removing the extra +1 lvl from level scaling (so you are the same level), or allow us to replay hearts for less rewards, or other recommendations like that would benefit all players, without trying to address something as subjective as “leveling speed”.

Hearts can’t reset if their going to keep them as part of the 100% world completion. unless they also change how the heart looks when completed? I kind of likethem resettng if you talked to them. Then you could reset the ones you want to rework on. Of course they would have to evalute how often you can reset them so you are not abusing it going to a quest that is very simple and just resetting it over and over for rewards.

They could add diminishing returns, so after 1-2 times, you get almost nothing. But I do like the idea of repeating heart events. There are some heart events that are pretty different (taking the food while avoiding bunnies). Some people may want to play that over and over again, even for no rewards :P

Also, with this kind of games, power shifts constantly. So the powerful class today, could be the weak class of tomorrow. I’m sure necro pets will be fixed, as well as other bugs, and classes will be somewhat balanced in a few months.

I think there needs to be a limit… Convert your excess into refined materials (planks for wood, bars for metals), and that will give you more space. Once you have 250 woods, and 250 planks… Well, I do not think you’ll really need more than that and selling would be a good option. Or make an alt with 20 slot bags, and fill him up.

Anyway, I think the limit is fine, and needed. We really should not have to carry so much stuff :S

WvW: Gold should NOT be tied to PVP.

in Suggestions

Kal.2376

Actually, it makes it better to play with a low lvl character. I could lvl a guy to 30, and WvW with him for cheap instead of my 80….

I do agree with this. I would make a separate currency for WvW. So the bags dropped there drop a currency to buy siege weapons, and it also has a chance to drop siege weapon blueprints. And remove repair costs. Having to run 1/2 of that huge kitten map is plenty death penalty for me :S

With that money, you can buy siege blueprints, upgrades, and even weapon skins, or armor skins, pets, etc. A whole new array of things. So you cannot just come into PVP with lots of gold and setup 10 trebuchets at a base with 20 catapults and 100 arrow carts, and all the castle upgrades (which could happen when we are all 80 and have more gold), but you have to earn it in WvW before you can use it.

Yes, it brings more currencies into the game, but I think it’s for the best.

Better materials should craft low-evel gear as well

Kal.2376

Well, the loss is only to the player. For example I will have to sacrify the, theoretically, better resources, but in eachange I wont have to run like an idiot through the compleated areas in search of low-level resources…

Not really, the loss would not only be for you, but for everyone. The low level materials would completely lose their value for everyone. If you can craft low level items with high level mats, then so can everyone else. And that makes low level mats completely obsolete… Might as well remove them. and call everything “wood”…

I do understand the inconvenience of running through low level zones (not so much in this game with lvl scaling though), so I think an idea to convert high lvl mats into low level mats is not bad, but it should carry a price for that convenience. A 1:1 trade would not be a good idea…

Hum… A bit complex… I would just add an option that you can mine more lower grade materials before a pick breaks.

For example. a grade 6 pick mining a grade 6 mine, has a 100% chance to break. That’s how it is now, and it is fine.

But if we were to use a grade 6 pick on a grade 5 mine, it should have an 85% chance to break. 60% for grade 4 mats, etc. Even when mining grade 1, you still have a 15% chance to break it.

Something like that would be fine for me.

I do not particularly like the idea… That’s too close to just making all wood as “wood” and better trees just give more wood for example…

However, I would not mind an option to use the mystic forge to make higher grade wood into lower grade wood, with a loss. Make 200 grade 5 wood, into 175 grade 4 wood, or 150 grade 3 wood. So you get some convenience, but does not override the efforts of the low level players, etc.

I agree with Mithran. This would just add server segregation which makes things worse, not better.

Anet did away with factions, the broke down server barriers a little with overflow, and did many things to avoid player segregation. I do not want to add any back into the game.

I do not particularly like the downed state, but I hate player segregation even more. Personally, I just want more balance between the different downed states, so everyone is on the same page. Other than that, keep it I guess.

Spamming chat is not social, it is actually spamming. Everytime you send that message in map chat, and no one answers, then it means that no one interested heard the message. Only people not interested heard it, making it SPAM. That’s all it is. SPAM.

We need a tool where we can list ourselves, and where we can see groups forming up. Then we can whisper to that group leader if I can run with them. Like someone else said, something similar to the sPVP match listing. Just a list of a bunch of groups we can potentially join.

Are you kidding me? This idea is horrible. Perhaps if you wanted to make the game dull and break immersion then sure. But this would make downed state incredibly boring…

Next lets give every profession the same skills when they aren’t downed! Yaaay!

I’m really glad most of you will never be in game design.

Downed state is the same state for all. There are no passives that affect you there, there are no different weapon skills, no different skills slots that you can choose. Everyone is pretty much “equal” when they are downed… Or at least, they should be.

However, we have different skills that make some downed skills better than others. Why is that? I could understand it if we were given a range of skills we could choose to configure our downed state. That way, sure! having different skills and options is fine. But we can’t. It’s a fixed stated with fixed stats that is given to everyone. So it should be an equal state for all (or at least very close) since we cannot modify it ourselves.

And that is a basic rule of game design… It’s called balance. Downed states currently feel unbalanced between them.

Well then balance them… You don’t need to completely remake them to all have essentially the same abilities…

Exactly, and one way to balance them, is to make them equal. Thanks for your support.

I know what you are saying, but it’s not as easy. Again, we have a fixed state where everyone has the same HPs, and only 4 skills. We can’t move, we can’t change weapons, we can’t modify the state. Since that mode is very simplistic, then we need to have very simple skills. Since we cannot “balance” it ourselves by choosing skills, or gear, then it has to be balanced in its “factory default” setting.

This is a temporary mode. We are not meant to be in a downed state for long, so it is fine if it is “boring”, or equal for all. I see no problem with that in such a mechanic.

Concerned and dissapointed with the Staff.

in Guardian

Posted by: Kal.2376

Kal.2376

You are looking at it expecting to find an offensive weapon… Well, it’s not really an offensive weapon. We already have greatswords and hammers for that (and they are awesome).

The staff really shines as a support weapon, and an really change the tide in dungeons and WvW.

The 3 skill is a light field that does a little damage, but it gives speed, which is crucial in WvW. And it can buff lots of people!

The 4 skill can give might to lots of people, and also has a decent heal in the end. Pretty darn good in groups, really bad if you are solo.

Skill 5 is probably the best. In WvW, it can hold off quite a few people for 5s giving your side a breather, and it can also be useful in PvE. It will constantly knockdown mobs.

Even skill 2 is not that bad. It hits quite hard, and people will try to dodge it (if they see it coming), so it can give you a few seconds. Still so-so.

So yeah, power 1 and 2 are a bit lackluster, but if they were great skills, then the staff would probably be overpowered. Great support skills in addition to awesome ranged skills? That may be a bit too much.

Duels, sure! Just don’t allow them in capital cities for example. People fighting all around you while crafting or checking the bank is kind of distracting. Or add some dueling areas to cities, with spectator stands and all. That would be nice

Inspect, I can actually live without that. I actually like the fact that we cannot see exact HPs on enemies, and other information like that. It makes characters and mobs more of an actual creature, and not just some faceless numbers.

Yeah, a ping meter would help… I would like to know when there is lag, if my connection is having issues, or if it is more of a server side problem.

Some kind of LFG assist would be good. It does not have to be like the WoW one with many unnecessary features, but some tool to help looking for other people interested in the same dungeon, or parties forming up would be nice.

Actually, we need both. Personal trades, and cash on deliver options. No idea why they are not there.

I never liked arena. What it needs is sPvP where you play with your char and get rewards. I don’t want to play with an instant lvl 80 char, I want to develop it myself

We may have the same name, but I totally disagree with you. The idea in GW2 of keeping PVE and PVP separate is a great idea. PVP is all about skill and tactics, not gear, or now much more time player A had to “develop” their character over player B.

If any of these suggested ideas come to pass, then the person with more time will have the most gear, and roll over people with less time… I prefer the current system where the people with most skill and better tactics wins.

Edit: Just to be clear, I’m not against the idea of arenas. That does not sound bad. I’m against the idea of PVP gear tiers and all that jazz.

Actually, guardians are good at speeding themselves and others. As Shimond mentioned, the staff power 3 creates an area that gives the swiftness boost to anyone that runs over. Also, the “retreat” shout will give swiftness and Aegis to everyone around you. That can be improved with traits to lower cooldown, and increase duration. Mine lasts 22+ seconds with a 48s cooldown, and I’m only lvl 30 :S

How about both? Use the greatsword as a main weapon, and a scepter/shield in the off-hand. There is no single strategy that will help you against all type of players, so we have to adapt quickly. Switching weapons as the need arises is a good skill to learn, and will allow you do deal a lot easier with a greater variety of threats.

Guardian has AoE knockback (skill 2), and an AoE heal, that will get them up quicker (skill 3). Skill 3 is on a long cooldown, skill 2, med cooldown.

Just stomp them again after 1 knockback, they can’t recharge that quick…

Another tip: You do not have to stomp them… If you hit them with regular attacks, their life will go down, and be defeated anyway. So for rangers, or other classes, you can still kill them from afar (if a bit slower).
