Anet you need to consider balancing the game again before the expac. scourge at this point is just better at all roles than reaper.
1. Scourge has more health than reaper and they can heal themselves more.
– Since scourge is not in a shroud they can heal from transfusion. and assuming a scourge can keep up barrier on itself it has more health too.2. Scourge has more ways to survive.
– they have a portal. reaper on the other hand is a sitting duck even with their leap.3. Scourge has more dps potential.
– with scourge getting burning on torment and the sheer amount of torment on scourge it certainly seems like it will do more condi dps than reaper. reaper wasn’t even suppose to do condi.4. Scourge can actually help teammates.
– reaper is selfish and doesn’t do as much as scourge in terms of support.Anet I love your game and your classes but you failed to make reaper into a power spec and now scourge is just an upgrade. please consider making more suitable changes.
at the end of the day idk if scourge will be better.
I am hoping and praying for a day one launch patch to fix Reaper. I’m hoping they just kept stuff the same so people can still run Condi Reaper until launch, and then will make Reaper an actual Power build.
I mean having two Condition Elites would be dumb.
Mark my words, scourge will be a terrible specialization.
I don’t think it will be terrible. I don’t get the hate on it. It looks like a solid Condition Elite with a support side.
You guys are being mega downers. There’s probably going to be another patch the day of Path of Fire launch.
That’s the point, I don’t see how killing a playstyle is good for the game in any way.
If you are wanting to play Condi Necro, then play Scourge in the expansion.
I heard they reworking the entire Spite trait line
And also some of the Reaper trait line to move it away from condi back to power where it originaly was intended to be.
sadly no specific infos about these yet…..
soooo Buffs Confirmed ? this alone got me hyped for the expansion lol
Man I hope not. Power builds are boring.
We are getting a Condi Elite in Path of Fire… Reaper was supposed to be Power…
You do start with 3. But then you use 2-3 and then after 15s you get 1 back. By the time you get the second one back, your first set has expired unless you get a lot of alacrity.
Ah. Keeping two up will be doable in Raids as DPS. As support I’m guessing you always have 3 out since Sand Savant.
So it’s a trade off for more DPS or better Sand Shades.
Nope. Sand Shades use the ammo mechanic. You gain one charge every 15 seconds and it uses one per shade.
Don’t you start with 3 ammo uses at the start though? It shows in Wooden Potatoes video.
With 3 Shades up it will be -15% Damage, and 225 Expertise and Concentration. That ends up being +15% Condition and Boon Duration.
This would give me +23.4% Condition Duration with the Scourge Traits, since I have 1,800 Condition Damage in game unbuffed, but the Torch Trait goes up the more Condition Damage you have. With all Raid buffs we will get around +30% Condition Duration from the Torch Trait and Shades.
Summoning Shades costs no Life Force, it just costs Life Force to use the Shade Skills. This is amazing o.o
(edited by Kam.4092)
Viper’s will probably still be best for Condition DPS, unless they add something like Condition Damage and Expertise Main with Power and Precision.
With the support side it’s better to wait. If they add Condition Damage and Healing Power main with Expertise and Precision, then that’d probably be best.
(edited by Kam.4092)
Talking for PvE
I think it is. Everyone just mentions Barrier, but doesn’t mention the good Condition DPS Traits, or the Torch abilities.
Enemies will have boons in the expansion, same for bosses probably. Barrier wise, they are probably making new mechanics where it can shine, or might be needed.
The Condition Traits, and addition of the Torch are a huge buff for Condition Necros. Also we won’t be forced into melee as much just for the cancer Deathly Chill crap. We have actual access to Torment also, and more burns.
The biggest thing that Scourge needs though is proper synergy of Traits. Like Dhuumfire working with Shades. This is a major one for DPS. Also Soul Reaping needs to reduce the CD on the skills, and increase the Scourge Life Force bar.
With Scourge I see an amazing spec, but only if Traits are tuned to work with it. I see it doing great DPS, but also having a pure support build side when needed.
Also we still don’t know two Minor Traits, and will know way more August 22nd when they allow Elite Spec play in WvW and PvP for the preview.
You can literally apply this to every Condition build in the game, and future Condition Elite lol………….
Will I get to raid in this? I don’t see big damage numbers and I don’t see group buffs (to damage) that people want.
Even if future raid bosses are full of boons, that woo the help with the existing bosses.
Also, I am disappointed that I will have to buy some sort of 20 button mouse in order to play this specialization.
Deathly Chill added about 5k DPS. Scourge will make up for this for sure.
Wasnt there a big barrier on our New heal skill aswell ? think I saw a 4k+ Heal and a 4k+ barrier
Yep it’s there.
4k on heal
2.6k on f2
4.5k on f5
2k on F1 of teaited when summoning.
Some more from one of the other utilities.Only wondering if your super shade counts as 3 for summon traits so grants 3x the barrier.
Also if F1 has no target cap then you can do about 2.0 coeffa of damage every few seconds. Pretty strong damage. Grevious stats has power and conditions main and precision and ferocity secondary. Should be good for this stuff.
I would suspect the super counts as 3 shades for that trait. Since it specifies traits.
I can’t see how Viper isn’t BiS. Bleed, Poison, Torment and Burning. Condi duration is so critical for this build.
Due to the Adept Talent giving condi->expertise (which you will use cause Torch is awesome for condi) you will probably either switch a few pieces for Sinister or swapping Malice for Bursting. A quick play around with build editors seems to put the full Viper, Scourge expertise trait, food and crystal at 99-100% condi duration. So it seems you can replace Malice for Bursting no problem.
For those wondering Torch abilities (off aurorapeach video) is:
#4
Harrowing Wave
3 × 3 sec Burning
3 × 3 sec Torment
16 sec CD (12.8 traited)#5
Oppressive Collapse
3 × 6 sec Torment
Knockdown
20 sec CD (16 sec traited)
It’s nice that Torch 5 has Knockdown for a Powerful Breakbar attack. I also like that both skills add Conditions, and the Cooldowns aren’t too bad either. Did you happen to see the Range on the Torch skills?
I welcome the nerf. I hate abusing Chill and find the Combo Field gimmick really detrimental to Necro in Raids. Scourge will basically save a Meta spot for us, because it’s a real Condition Trait Line, unlike the disaster that Reaper was. Scourge will do about the same probably, if not a bit more than the 33k benchmark using the Combo Field gimmick. This will be because of the mass amounts of Torment we’ll be causing with Burning, Bleeding, and Poison.
Deathly Chill should be Power focused, because that’s how Reaper should be
This will be insanely OP in pvp. The cds are so short
All the new elite specs will be insanely OP in pvp, just like when HoT launched, they need to sell the expantion, once the sales slow down they will all get nerfed.
Except Scourge. Slow damage output plus no survivability tools means the elite spec is worthless in PvP.
Also, notice how they managed to make life force more important as a resource on condition specs, which have a difficult time building life force without Reaper?
Feast of Corruption will give 13% LIfe Force at least every 10 seconds, and the minor Soul Reaping Trait Gluttony increases Life Force from skills by 10%, then add higher Life Force, and Life Force that Drains Slower. I’m talking about PvE though.
There’s also a Trait that adds 5% Life Force whenever removing or Corrupting a Boon, I think it stacks too in Scourge.
(edited by Kam.4092)
I’m really happy about Scourge. It’s more so a powerful Condition Elite Specialization than support. A lot of the traits are crazy where Torment adds burn too. Trial of Anguish looks like an amazing skill, it will probably be used always.
My biggest wonder is how Corruptions will be used now since we have been using Dagger Offhand to transfer Corruptions. Since Torch is Offhand, then I see Scepter/Dagger Scepter/Torch. Hoping the Torch CDs match up well with Deathly Swarm for timing Corruptions, etc.
I don’t see Epidemic being replaced, same for Blood is Power. The new Elite looks cool. If the Sand Shades work with Dhuumfire it will be amazing. It’s nice the Torch Trait gives Expertise equal to 7% of your Condition Damage. If Viper is still best in the expansion, then this will allow us to use Sinister armor mixed in, and redo Sigils.
Overall Scourge looks way more solid than Reaper was. I see the builds being Curses/Soul Reaping/Scourge, or Curses/Blood Magic/Scourge.
I think removing Shroud is a good thing, because for years they’ve used the excuse that having Shroud meant we could never do super high DPS cause it was a trade off. They can’t use that excuse now. We do have Barriers though for taking damage.
I’m really looking forward to it.
(edited by Kam.4092)
Found this, it shows a lot too.
http://imgur.com/a/iIPq6
This honestly looks insane. So much Torment and Burning.
For PvE this looks amazing, I don’t know about PvP.
(edited by Kam.4092)
Oh boy. I hope it at least brings our Condition DPS to Meta without relying on Combo fields.
I went for a Hybrid build in WvW, and use Shout Reaper Meta. I enjoy it a lot. It’s amazing in squads and big fights.
I mainly don’t roam, which is why I made thread just asking which weapon people liked for roaming. It seems like most use Scepter even when hybrid.
I use Celestial gear. I think going full Condition would be bad in a lot of situations where players could spam remove Conditions, and if you run into the same person removing Conditions again, or multiple times, then it’s like might as well leave that map for a while.
The thing I like about Scepter most is the Boon Corrupt and Torment, after using it a bit when roaming last night.
I find the second skill sorta clunky though.
Necro does have the best condi application though, and if you last long enough to burn through all their condi clear and get them with a whirl, they are very dead. The point of Celestial is that it can be strong with a might-stacking build, but you don’t have to go full cele; you can mix in some Trailblazers/Dire/Rabid as well.
Scepter 2 can be cast behind you like Staff and the bleeds are fairly long so if you’ve got nothing else to do while kiting, this is the thing to use.
Scepter 3’s torment can cover for your bleeds and weakness (which are the most important conditions for you) and you can combine with Corrupt Boon, Plague Signet to just smother them in non-essential condis.
I last long enough usually to take out 2 people at once, but if a third comes in I am dead usually unless it’s like a Rev or Guardian.
I only have a full Viper’s set for PvE. I don’t have Trailblazer’s yet. Would mixing Trailblazer Trinkets be ok?, and the rest Celestial when roaming?
axe,
because on-point instant strike 600radius pbaoe 5 target 2 boons corrupted and cripple will help you and your allies more than just pewpew projectiles back into the face of your team mates.
…Necro has barely any projectiles.
And for roaming, castrating your damage output for slightly more burst corruption is a terrible idea.
No, condi roaming, you go Scepter, all the way.
Oops I thought scepter was projectiles.
I was thinking an actually good reaper build that uses both Condi, power and boon corrupts not some trailblazer trash looking to tag loot so I guess if someone going Condi only ya scepter would be best to get numbers.
I use Celestial gear. I think going full Condition would be bad in a lot of situations where players could spam remove Conditions, and if you run into the same person removing Conditions again, or multiple times, then it’s like might as well leave that map for a while.

I find the second skill sorta clunky though.
I’m using the Shout Reaper build, and have been fine while roaming with Axe/Dagger and Staff, but wondered if Dagger would be even better.
I just want to know what others think, and do.
Thanks for any replies.
:D
I just can’t hit the cap weekly.
Trajan anticipated your comment in his/her original post:
we who have played this game mode for a long time are used to getting zero to no rewards so this system is fine, we will get it eventually.
You don’t have to hit the cap weekly. You will still get it eventually.
Correct. Kam, you are making two choices here.
-1. To get the tickets in the first place.
-2. To try to hit the cap.The game doesn’t require either. Don’t do it as ‘a second job’. Do it because you want to, and the difference between now and 6 months ago, is that there IS a reward for the time you DO put in.
I love the game mode, and will still play it, but I can’t get past the 2nd or 3rd chest weekly. It feels like I’m wasting my time there if I can’t actually get anywhere. Only getting 20-45 tickets a week isn’t really much.
I’d only like weapon skins, and armor skins, but at the current rate, it’d be years for someone like me being unable to put the required time in for capping weekly.
Other game modes are way more rewarding, and I think WvW should be as rewarding for all types of players wanting to do it, for both veterans and newcomers.
An influx of players is good for any game mode. Sure some will leave, but many newcomers will no doubt get hooked and have a blast. I just think tickets should be rewarded more often for chest rewards, instead of all at the end.
I actually still think ANet has pretty well calculated the amount of playtime it takes to hit the pip cap. Yes, it takes long and it suckes for all WvW Vets, who get finaly rewarded, but only slowly and with much investment.
But just imagine everybody could hit the cap easily in a relative short time. The WvW would be crowded with players just for the grind and probably with no love for the game mode at all. Getting to the cap has to be a bit ludicrous to discourage this kind of behavior or WvW would turn into an ascended gear farm.
Using the term “it sucks” shouldn’t be used when saying something about a game. We play for fun.
It discourages both sides.
I love WvW. I just feel discouraged because it takes 20-30 hours a week to hit cap, and I just can’t hit the cap weekly. I think just from a general life perspective it’s ludicrous to have that extreme of a time requirement.
It’s impossible to hit without playing this one game mode 4+ hours a day. This shouldn’t be the case, because it seriously impacts a person’s health, and isn’t good for people with jobs, and an active life.
An MMO is already a time commitment, why make it a literal second job?
Scepter is a good condi weapon when you are fighting single targets. Brings diversity of conditions and boon corrupt on 3rd auto. Love it in pve, pvp and when roaming in wvw.
Assuming you are talking about this build:
https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Reaper_-_Shout_Reaper
The cele axe corrupt build is about zerg fights though not single target damage. Sc1, 3 and Axe1, 2 are all “useless” to this playstyle because they are single target and require a target. The corrupt doubly so because nobody has time for a full scepter auto to be wasted on 1 person when you should be chaining other skills together for multiple aoe corrupts. So what you need to compare are axe 3 vs scepter 2 for zerg aoe. Given how strong stability and resistance are, axe 3 is just better. Being able to hit axe 3 and then go into RS and then use RS2 corrupts 5 boons in an aoe in roughly the same time it takes for scepter to remove 1 boon against 1 target makes the boon corrupt on scepter laughable in zerg scenarios.Carry a scepter and axe. When roaming/running to a zerg use the scepter. When in the zerg, swap to axe. The power damage also isn’t that bad on axe when using the cele gear but more importantly, the damage your zerg does is more important that a bit of damage you get from scepter 2 in an aoe. Corrupts will often do damage too anyways.
Thank you for your informative reply
All these replies confused the hell out of me.
U can’t see so high ticks cos:
- u don’t hit those 5 same targets, so “no” condi stacking
- there is a lot of cleanse going on, so “no” condi stacking
- lots of blocks/dodges/missing, so “no” condi stacking
- players with various def setups/stats/buffs
- …
PvP aint PvE even in WvW
Ah ok, so everything is fine :V
I’ve been seeing like 4-6k bleed ticks, and 12k with Epidemic. This is mainly keep lords and what not.
When I get into a big group of enemies. I don’t really see my conditions all over the place. Maybe it’s because so much is going on and I don’t notice it though.
I’m doing what it says, it’s just people die too fast for me to notice, or I sometimes see a 6-12k tick.
I used to WvW on a Mesmer years ago a lot, so it’s been a while. I don’t know what to expect for damage now.
How do you tell if you’re doing well?
WvW a new job then I guess?
It’s weekly right, for the tickets?
Why does it say Axe over Scepter for the Condi build? Is it because of the boon corrupt?
Also is Scepter ever used?
Make it a toggle to turn off Legendary Weapon sounds. I hate the sound of the Dreamer.
Anet set themselves a deadline months ago for this patch, A couple of hours power outage on Monday isn’t going to make that much of a difference this close to release.
Someone kittened up!
Yep. I’m not surprised ever. Used to being let down.
Talking about T4 Fractals and Raids, and the PS Power Build.
All classes have been plagued by game breaking bugs for years, so no, they won’t fix them (in most cases).
You’d think they would. I mean this is supposed to be one of the best MMOs right?
Several classes have quite a bit of bugs that were never fixed. Bugs like Ranger’s https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Resounding_Timbre in PvP, and Revenant’s https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Searing_Fissure in all game modes.
Bugs should not stay in game for this long. The Revenant has so many bugs that limit its builds. It’s been over a year now.
Do you all plan to ever fix your game? I would have expected you to fix these things already. You want PvP to be great for every class, yet there are so many bugs that prevent diversity.
The bugs are what make me dislike areas in this game in all game modes. There is no excuse why a team of devs would neglect these bugs.
There are endless lists of bugs people have made over the months regarding PvE, PvP, and WvW.
So will you ever fix these bugs, or neglect them forever?
I’ve just been using the full Viper’s gear build and doing great. I pug T4 with my boyfriend always. Your main goal is to keep Grace of the Land up as much as possible. You also need to pay attention to the group and know when people are low health. Even as DPS, Druids can full heal a group still.
My overall experience as Druid is that I stay alive great, and keep my party healed, and buff their damage as much as I can. I usually blaze through T4 Dailies.
The above post has great info. I’m mainly just stating my experience with Druid. It’s my favorite Profession in game, and everyone loves them!
Would be nice for a little fixes.
My boyfriend runs Power Necro and he’s never had a problem. I run Druid, and we pug T4 always.
It is super rare to get someone that asks him to go Condition. It’s been months actually. He has ran Condition Necro before, but didn’t like it. Currently they are both close in DPS after the nerfs to Horrors.
He runs full Zerk, because you’re not always in Shroud. His survivability is great. He uses the Metabattle build for GS Reaper.
Our experiences with Fractal T4 pugging have for the most part been great.
I hope you have fun with Power Reaper. It’s fun.
What you revealed only caused an uproar in your forums. It was not a “heads up”. It was a horrible approach at teasing balance. This is the reason many overreact in your community on the forums.
You just outright made a fire over poor communication. There is still no word of split balance. No one knows how hard the nerfs will hit. You basically have four days of worrying, and your community being kittened off at you. Many will lose hope over said changes, and will quit, or take a needed break from the game.
I just hate the way you treat your playerbase. I expect this thread to be deleted, but it’s worth venting.
I’ve never seen devs act like this. The sheer lack of communication is shocking.
Hoping for maybe a bit more info before the patch. We really need it.
Please.
We’ll still have our place as DPS/support if they don’t touch our dps. We can push our group dps further with spirits/gotl/GoE. With changes on healing we aren’t the ones who gonna suffer, but the viper necro is, since their dps is only good when they have tons of minions alive.
I didn’t think of that, that makes sense, thanks.
Core Ranger Condition Builds are near top, or top for Condition Damage Builds.
People just don’t run it cause it can’t do GotL. I run Core Ranger mostly when solo anyway.
I’ve talked to several friends, and made a forum post about this.
Currently Druids are amazing Healers and buff damage by a lot. In a way it does make sense to nerf base Healing by like 10%, but I hope they might buff pets, or our damage for Condition and Power.
They said long ago in the beginning, that every nerf would bring a buff. It depends if they buff us in a good way.
I think pets benefiting more from us makes a lot of sense. In other games it’s how it works too.
I’m going to try and be positive I guess. It sucks, but I’m hoping our damage gets buffed a bit as a trade off.
Either way, they said they will monitor changes and buff if needed.
When the Toxic Trails instability came out, it was horrible and was too much. They nerfed it pretty quick and it showed they do listen. If any of these nerfs are too much they may listen to people like they did over Toxic Trails.
Patch is in 4 Days, so not that long until we know things.
Just have to wait and see.
(edited by Kam.4092)
Because the obvious they will still be fine to run.
Oh ok ;~; I keep hearing the sky is falling and get worried
I don’t know why I made a thread if people don’t answer a simple question.
I was simply referring to Viper’s and Berserker’s Druids in T4 Fractals.
I was asking if they’d still be fine. I’m not referring to some Meta. Right now currently I love Viper and Zerk, and don’t want anything to change in Fractals.
Full Healing is for Raids, and I want it to stay there.
With these Healing changes, will Viper’s and Berserker’s Druids still be fine to run?
I mean I’m guessing they will be, because going full Healing Druid in a Fractal, would make it take way longer.
I know for Raids though it may kill Viper and Berserker Druids.
I’m just a little worried, and wonder how things will play out now.
Didn’t expect a Healing nerf :/
An epidemic nerf is probably hot on the heels of those heals. So the whole fractal meta will probably have to change. And necros will probably no longer play a part in it.
At least healing druids will still be useful. The other 4 party members will just have to pick up the DPS slack.
I didn’t even mention Epidemic. I was just asking about Viper’s and Berserker’s Druids being used in T4 Fractals.
With these Healing changes, will Viper’s and Berserker’s Druids still be fine to run?

Is this for PvP or PvE?! You all never kittening say!
