I find it surprising that you say that. I mean I’m playing a necro, so you, ele player, and my best friend who play one, are my main source of infos.
And with my necro, when I jump AoE, I’m rarely not able to come back to the gate in 3 seconde. And I don’t have any CC immunity.Don’t forget the effect of surprise, the chaos from your nuke, and not everyone have a CC/immobilize ready as soon as you pop Mist form.
If you dodge back to back, even if they chain you, you shouldn’t be hit. Maybe there was some delay in your execution? Would be cool if somoene could test it!

Well the issue we are talking about is only affective WvW, so I was taking in account WvW use only.

You have to use it right. You keep your dodge for vapor form. As soon as you go down, you pop it and dodge 2 time right away. At most, during half a second people will be able to immobilize you, maximum. That’s a really low risk, nearly 0 chance.

Tho last night the battlefield seems to have been Anvil Rock Keep in EB. When I logged on, We were retaking our keep from BP defending it. At the same time, GoM was attacking the front door of the keep. It was a massive fight hehe.
When you take back your keep, and right away another server is pounding the front door, that’s cool.

And that’s the OP’s point. With vapor form, as far as an Ele is concerned there is NO risk…
But still, not something Anet should be spending time on at this point. Bug fixes, content patches, and general PvP stuff first. Vapor form, while powerful when used in this manner, is not game-breaking (even though I completely agree with the OP that it’s VERY powerful).
Well this will be to Anet to discuss. They seems to read the forum for balance, so it might give them an idea.

I have played all the classes and IMO Ele has the best downed state. No class can delay death longer than an Ele, and each moment of delay is another moment that you may be revive. And no class can move farther in downed than an Ele, and this means the Ele has a decent chance of getting themselves to a better spot where they can get help.
Thief, Mesmer, Guardian have way stronger downed states. They can delay death a LOT longer than an Elementalist, if they even die… by the time you do finish them their allies should be all over the place
But that’s of course off topic. Anyway I doubt they will make any change to an Elementalist skill, they have left so many skills in a bugged state since release and don’t see a “fix” in the near future so I doubt we’ll see any kind of change
Thief and Mesmer, it all depend of luck and if player are efficient at spoting the downed player. I used to have difficulties with Mesmer #2, but once you learn to wait for the red arrow, it goes a lot faster.
But I agree, those 2 have really strong downed state. Elem would be on par with them, if it wasn’t for your #3 that isn’t that good. But they are really close to them in their of effecness, especially in WvW.
But, Guardian? Really? How are they better then Elemental? When I see a downed guardian, I know I have to ether use stability, or push F right away so they have to use their #2 as soon as possible. They push me back once, then I just come back and finish them.
It has a 5 players limits, they can’t move with it or enter tower. I never get to see #3 of guardian since they are dead proir to that.
About resolving bug before balancing, they can’t do that, as they still have so many bugs. Every class have bugs and some have majors one that I’m still wondering how it went thru beta.

What people seems to not understand, is that OP isn’t asking to remove vapor form. Far from it.
He is asking a Minor tweak, as to make Vapor Form unable to enter a tower gate.
He is only talking about this particular situation, not about open field fights, or anything else.
You won’t spam that, you only need one use of Vapor to get inside. Just wait the “cooldown” and you can do it again.
Also, the tower isn’t lost when you have to resort to that. I do a similar (A lot more risky) tactic on my necromancer, where I jump and AoE the hell of everybody. It’s actually pretty effective, tho I can die a lot doing that.
Most of the time, it will help save a tower. You’ll drop people, damage siege, create chaos. People you downed will be used a bait for ennemies. They will try to rez them and bam you AoE them.
The jump and AoE tactic is really efficient, and if you can avoid most of the risk, it’s even better.
I think, must it stay or not is a pretty good debate, but It saddens me to see that as soon as we are talking about a minimal nerf, everybody will be quick to defend at all cost there class. Be justified or not, they are biaised and won’t be able to judge the situation(I’m talking about people not readind and not having any argument to counter). Most people in this thread didn’t even read OP concern, they saw a nerf so they posted to counter it.
And to the guy that said he would quit Elem if they nerf that, oh well man. Don’t play a MMO anymore.

I was reading this topic just for fun. I think the OP has a point about the mist form tru the gate, as it really nearly impossible to catch.
Jump down, combo damage, get downed, mist form, dodge dodge, inside. You have like .5 sec to be rooted during that combo.
I don’t mind if it stays, but to people saying it’s not effective and can be easily countered : open your eyes. This is a really strong abilities.
And what about people saying Elem have really bad downstate? I agree Elem had the worse downed state abilities before the buff switching #2 and #3. But now? Did you play any other class except mesmer and thief? Somoene even said Ranger downed state were better then elem.
Seriously. Most classes have only a 1 sec interrupt as #2. You have an AoE interrupt. Meaning that if 10 player are trying to finish you, you can pop it like mesmer and thief, and cancel every finisher as you run away for 3(!!!!) sec. My necro got a single target 1 sec fear!
It also change your position! How many time did I try to finish an elem, only to see him walk behind is zerg, in a keep, or under siege protection. Hey at least my Engineer #2 can pull somoene to him, so he can be finished faster!
I’m not saying your downed state need a nerf, it’s all good.
But when I read people crying about Elem having bad downstate, come on!

Yeah I ony played udring Vanilla Wow, and warlock fear was crazy.
But Necro’s fear can be used the same way. I use it more like an interrupt.

I personnaly use a fear oriented build, with an hybrid power/crit with a good share of condition damage.
I’m currently testing it in WvW, and right now it’s going well. You have a lot of CC, really good damage, and average defence (but since you have a lot of CC and DS, its makes up for it)
Someone told me in another post fear was a long lasting CC, I called bullkitten. Tested it, and maybe I was wrong.
Well continu testing it and will come back later with my result!

He is a new level 80. He prolly got mostly greens and maybe some rare.
Meaning he prolly get 2 shotted by thief or other glass cannon. The early stage in WvW is hard if you didn’t gear up prior to 80.
When I’m out of money I just go to Orr and do some dynamic event. You should be able to make money, buy gear and be more efficient in WvW.
Don’t forget to loot bag in WvW too.

Sadly I’m aiming for 6 rune of nightmare, and they only had 10% duration.
20% spite
50% reaper
10% rune
It only tick once, so I presume it doesn’t reach the 2 second.
2 choice
- 30 spite and rune of nightmare
- 20 spite and rune of necro + traits for fear on CC.
I chose the first option because I feel the Spite grandmaster trait is more useful then a 90 sec CD fear on CC. Using nightmare also grant 5% AoE fear on hit.

I don’t personally think that the trait is borderline OP. 15% damage and 20% less cooldown is good! But don’t forget it’s a grand master trait. A good traits that affect a subpart weapon.So it make it average when you use it.
Like I said in previous post, #1 axe need a buff. #2 and #3 are ok for me. The auto attack is so boring and lack any kind of punch.
About the traits position change, I’m not sure. Axe seems to be designed to work with Minion Master, as it use vulnerability. You don’t have too, but it fits this role. If you have the axe training trait at master, you would have to choose between 30% minion damage or Axe training. Adept has the same issue : Axe seems to be used with focus as offhand. Focus traits is in adept too, so you would have to sacrifice it.
Personnaly, I would buff the trait a bit more.

The summon part of the worm is really strong. So lets forget about vet and champion, since we can all agree that worm is useful in that case.
But I also used it all the time in Dynamic Event. Like I said previously, the worm will tag mobs you didn’t even see. And as always it does a good bit of damage, and has a really good range.
Not everything can be as useful in PVE as it is in PvP, or the other way around. Take Shadow fiend as an example.
The activate can be useful in PvP, but the summon itself is mostly useless. It does weak damage, but that’s because he is suposed to be our “tank” pet. Sadly, a tank pet in pvp is no use. It is a lot more useful in PvE. I was using it to tank mob(minion seems to attract aggro a lot more then me) and he could take a beating!
But we don’t have to change de shadow fiend, since some abilities have to be situational for different build/gameplay style.

It also does more damage then our Scorpion and Shadow fiend auto attack, at 1200 range.
In PvE Worm can also tank a good amount of damage too. When I attack camp in WvW (basically PvE since we find again npc) I use it to offtank guard, and kill the scout.

I would prolly use Dagger/Warhorn, just to add some raw damage. Since you’ll proly focus on power/crit, it will combo nicely.

Yeah, it might have been that, taking advantage of the situation.
Since BP was focusing on us, GoM took the chance and also attacked us. A good move! The only thing that permited us to survive those assaults was the fact that some crazy WvW build a large amount of siege, and AR alliance just finished their meeting, so they were all there.
It was good sport, and I think BP and GoM even clashed, fighting for OUR durios :P Come on boy don’t fight for our tower But I’m not sure, was dead as culling made me run in a BP zerg.

Just cast it at the beginning of the fight far from you. I don’t think I ever lost a Worm in a fight in WvW. People don’t attack the worm, they will only attack it if they touch it with AoE. But you have to stay away from your worm, to be effective. So AoE won’t touch it.
Don’t underestimate worm’s damage.Most of the time you don’t see him attack, but he does it. He will hit for around 800-1.2k non crit if I remember. That’s like having 5 permanent bleed on the target. That’s a really good DPS add, since you primary use it to escape.
Venom, I don’t mind if you want to create 2 separate abilities. But Why change worm? Just create your new minion, and let Flesh worm in peace.
When I was a MM, I was happy to have Flesh Worm. Since I had to use minion utilities for my traits to be at full potential, it was a blessing that I had a minion being something else then a DPS add. It’s our only minion that provide an escape mecanism AND CC breaker.

Yeah, my guildmate use the same build on his ele Alt.
If he doesn’t want to die, he won’t die. He will only die if he overstay in a zerg. But he can literraly charge into a group, do is combo, full heal, then escape.
He also laught at any Thief trying to burst him, as he is full heal right away.
I have a video of fighting that Ele, we were 2 vs him. I had my weak MM necro build, but my friend had is shatter mesmer. We usually kill group 2 vs 4-5, but 2 vs this ele we couldn’t even kill him. And once he even downed my friend.
I tell you, D/D Ele are incredible.

As a change-up to the negativity here.. I just wanted to thank AR/BP for a fun weekend/week thus far… The fights have been fierce long and at times frustrating.. Nice build! I’m not a fan of chillmancer, only because I don’t like the playing still, but it still an efficient build!
The issue I have with it, is it doesn’t seem to affect Thief a lot (Longer cooldown? What cooldown?). And since half the people I fight in PvP are thief, I have to spec for it.
I was wondering, you said you were specced for epidemic to be short cooldown. I don’t see it in the build, is it a mistake or I am missing something? :P

You have a nice idea, but understand that you are changing an utility that people that use it, love it. We would lose the dps from Worm, and lose our ability to target the teleport (There isn’t a lot of corpse in spvp).

Last night was crazy in EB!
Not sure what happened tho, did GoM and BP get angry at us or something? :P
I played from 9.30pm to 00.15 and man, the entire time, BP and GoM were both attacking us at the same. We would push them, they would both come back. We lost Durios many time hahaha!
That was crazy, people calling “hey come help Bravost there is a zerg there” “No the zerg is at Durios!” “Well there ia a BP zerg at Durios and a GoM zerg at Bravost!”
The only thing that surprised me was Quentin lake was never really under attack. But then I went there and saw that one of our guild decided to defend it like there was no tomorow. That was prolly our point in WvW with the most defence ahah.
We lost some fight, won some fight. Anvil Rock usually lose zerg fight because we have so many underleveled people, but yesterday it was pretty smooth. Prolly because the alliance had a meeting and were all there.
To the group of BP that tried a surprise attack again our Garrison from the underwater way, good try ahah! It got us on our toe. Our Largest group was behind OgreWatch, and they had to cancel what they were doing to come back.
“We finish this tower and we come back!”
“If you don’t come back right away, the garrison is gone”.
I’m not the one that will call “Hey server X and server Y are allying it’s unfair” each time we get attacked by both server.
But last night, it was just a persistent attack from both server at the same time. It’s the first time I saw that. It’s like both your commanders chatted and said : “You know those annoying guys from AR on the forum? Let make them pay!” or “GoM don’t want to finish last, help us kick AR kitten before you go one tier up!”. Our AR borderland was also under attack from both server, will the other borderlands were at peace.
It might just have been a coincidence, but it was wonderful It’s a war, and I approve alliance. That’s why it’s a 3 way war. If I was less lazy and had more influence, I would have tried to ally with GoM again BP. It was the best time I had since months!
Lets continu this war until Friday! It might be our last for this matchup!
Special Shout out to the D/D Elementalist from BP that prolly use the hybrid build from the NOM guild. I think your char is a female human and you have the title of berry eater or don’t remember what. You are a pain in the kitten to fight and it was a pleasure.
After our fight, I even respected to be more efficient vs your build and thief. I’m sure you make people rage a lot with all that mobility, damage, heal and CC.

I would love to see the name of ennemy player.
Attacking “Server Invader” is so generic, its remove that little something that I’m missing since Ultima Online.
I get the impression that we are still fighting npc with a better AI (or sometime worse).
By removing the name, sure you are removing some greifing. But you also remove the wonderful time you can have with rivalry between player. It’s like removing the downside and the upside, so you are only left with an average feeling.
At least, give us they option to show the name. So the player that want to show their name, they show it. Those that don’t want, they keep it hidden. Leave the choice to the players.
But there are 2 technical thing that could not make it possible →
- Bandwidth, by sending name, you add even more transfers. It’s a theory, because they might already be sending it, but since we already have culling issue, I doubt they would want to add even a bit of transfer.
- Communication, since this game permit communication between server, people will have acces to name, so acces to whispering the ennemy. It could lead to some coordinate fighting between servers or objectif swaping.

Well for sure, if you are like me and love to try different build, you know know most of the time you will find yourself kittened. There is a price for being different Even if sometime we find a pearl!
Any class, can stand behind and just spam attack from range. I can do it with my engineer 1500 range grenade. Sure I will get points, but it won’t really help the time.
And if you fought any good oppenent, they will at least have one condition removal. And it take time for a necro to get some good stack up running again.
A condimancer is good for attacking from range, when not being focused. It’s a lot different when you have somoene on your kitten Condition need time to be effective, and with somoene chassing you around, it’s not always easy.

In PvE, ok I won’t deny that.
But in PvP? Really? Mesmer were prolly the most effective Pvpers prior to last patch, and they still are really affective.
Care to give more information? I also play with a friend who play an Ele and a Mesmer, and there is no way necro have it easier in PvP. He keep asking me to switch class for a FotM like Mesmer,thief or D/D ele.
I played with mostly every build we have there. Powermancer, Mr Freeze, Fearmancer, Condimancer, MM, Hybrid. I don’t see how we have it easier then anyone else?

1. Necro got some nice healing abilities. If you focus on blood magic and healing, you will be very valuable to your team.
Well of Blood when paired with Vampiric Rituals trait (Healing each time the well pulse) and receiving the greatest bonus from +healing stats, is a bombo for team healing. Lettuce, a necro, made some test about it, but I can’t find the link.
You can also use death shroud #4 ability paired with Transfusion trait to heal nearby allies for a good amount.
Except Well of Power (transmute condition into boon for allies), we don’t have much buffer abilities. But we can help a lot with ally condition removal. Plague of signet passive will remove condition from ally (well it’s bugged right now but still kinda work) and put them on you.
Signet of the undeath can be used for quick rez in dungeon or WvW!
2. Yeah we have some!
Death Shroud is kidna cool, tho not everyone like it. But since you play a necro, you know it.
Epidemic, this skill might not look like much on paper, but it’s incredible. It take every condition on somoene and transfer it to 5 other player around. Looove this skill.
Flesh Worm, unique summon with a lot of utilities, but mainly for WvW.
Other then that, I’m not sure what you are looking for :`P
3. We have a lot of pretty cool utility.
Epidemic like I said before.
Wells do heavy damage and have a lot of use.
Summon AI are bugged right now, but it’s still good for PvE.
Spectral utilies are good, tho I never used Spectral Armor since it has an enormous cooldown.
Necro utilities are pretty good overall.

You can still use the activation as a blast finisher, as a poison and as a CC breaker.
Necro got few combo finisher, so it’s far from useless.
You can also combo it with Poison nova. With the teleport, you can Combo blast and poison nova at the same time.
We need some situational skill, that’s why we have skill like Corrupt boon and spectral graps. That’s what make the class unique. Flesh worm isn’t your standart summon, you have to respect that.
You won’t see everyone travel with it, as you don’t see everyone walking around with Well of Power (the cond to boon well?).
I also PvE to farm with my toon. And I’m always using my Worm. The only minion not affected by bad AI, and doing a good amount of damage. He will tag mobs that you didn’t get to tag.

Feast of Corruption hits for laughably low damage no matter how many conditions are on the target. I find it is barely worth casting, although obviously the calculation is different when you have 3 condition focused players and are hitting the stacking cap.
Even capped bleeds on a target is like 3k dps. From three players. That’s about what a single power glass cannon spec can put out. Again not that I particularly advise that in a dungeon, but 3 condition necros is going to be very low dps, especially on boss fights.
I got a Hybrid Power/cond necro, and Feast of corruption hits for a good amount. Might not be the best DPS around, but it also regen life force and not too long cooldown.
My high crits are around 4k, which is pretty descent.
Corrupt boon + Feats of corruption is delicious.

Man I think we can agree that Necromancer don’t have the best traits around. When I compare it to my engineer (static bolt? Grenadier?) at least!

I never have enought Life force! How can you say it’s always full. I’m always switching in and out of DS for stability,boon and fear. I need more!!! But I agree that gluttony is lack luster.
I have no issue with bleed on crit? And we have a lot of AoE/fast attacking skill. You lost me again there.
P.S : 50% endurance regen of engineer is actually really weird because, Ranger got the same trait for 5 points. I don’t think a lot of engineer focus on this trait.

He justs seems to post a lot on the emotion in the forum. But I understand him, as when you fight zerg with a small group, it get really frustrating.
I’m anti-zerg, I hate to be part of the zerg, even if I do it sometime. This is a part of WvW that I wish would be changed over.

I usually never go with the Zerg in WvW, since it’s getting boring to just follow the flow of player and hitting gates.
I usually travel with a friend and we try to kill Zerg left over, other small group or farming players. It’s really hard to find tho.
Especially in EB, since most of the time you are in range of some cannons or siege weapon. It drive me crazy that some players seems to stay all night long on a cannon and do nothing else then cripple me around
And more often then not, you will fall on a Zerg. No point in fighting them, since even if you down one, they will just insta rez him.
This game has so many pro-Zerg mecanism, it’s really hard to find other small group.
Would be cool to have a bigger map, just so the zerg tendancy would spread a bit.

I’m in a 2 man guild, If I wait until my guild has a portal inside, I will wait a long time.
Actually I think it’s new for AR. They started it 1 or maybe 2 week ago max. I don’t take AR is a cheater server now. It’s only mean some guy transfered there and started expoiting.
I would like to precise that BP expoited our hills last week, but I don’t think we should judge the complet server over it.

Don’t take away my teleport.
The only reason why people doesn’t use the worm teleport, is because they didn’t learn to use it. It’s not situational at all, I use it nearly each fights.
Note : My reasonning is from WvW.
How to use the worm teleport ->
- Traveling. The worm can be used as a blink. Summon it as far as you can, and as soon as it finish the cast, teleport. It help you travel faster, I use it all the time to roam in WvW.
- Chasing. Using it the same way as traveling, when somoene is trying to get away from you (those pesky thief), summon and teleport to it, if it land on the ennemy, it will also poison them. If not, you will be a lot closer, so swap to DS and dark path them.
(I have some video of it at home, will try to upload them tonight).
- Escape Mecanism. You are fighting somoene when all of sudden, 3-4 of his friends are coming for you? Well you aren’t a mesmer, so you better run away! How? Lets say your closest tower is to the north. Just run to the south! What? Yeah make them follow you. Cast your worm behind them, to the north. If they chase you, they will only see in front of them, to the south. As soon as they are all behind you, port back to your worm. BAM! No more necro. You will be ported behind them, and 75% of the time, they won’t turn around to see you. If they do, it will prolly be too late. I can’t count how many time it saved my necro bum. You can also cast it near building or rock, port to it and hide right behind, tho you have to stay in LoS to port.
- CC breaker : The activate teleport is also a CC breaker!
- Combo blast : And a combo blast! Tho I have to admit I rarely use it as a combo blaster.
For the mother of all worm, please don’t remove this ability! Even when I’m not MM specced, I miss my worm
P.S : Bone minions also destroy themself, I hope you won’t change them ether!

Those freaking exploiter.
I usually defend Anvil Rock, but yesterday I’m pretty sure a group did exploit like they said.
I was part of the group attacking OgreWatch ( attacking GoM? Why? don’t know) and while we were attackinh the door, I saw our people inside. I asked how did they get inside? And they started to act like child writing “:)” and one of them even said he wasn’t proud of it.
One of them, Can’t say the name here but I reported him (without proof sadly) sarted to defend is move. He didn’t say directly that he exploited, but after seeing his name I remembered him from 1-2 days ago, when he was asking people about way to exploit wall near the bay.
So this time he was saying thing like : “IT’s only a game” " it’s only for fun" “Each one play his way”. Trying to defend the exploiting. I tried to reason with him, but that was a deadend.
It’s the first week I see him in WvW, might be a transfer. I didn’t get to see his guild tag, but I will try to get it.
I was sad to see that nobodies except me were calling the exploiter. I’ll make sure that player get the ban stick as soon as possible.
There shall be no cheater on this server.
P.S : I’m sure that most people that took the portal didn’t even know it was an exploit. Once I took a portal to go inside the bay. We just lost it so I thought we had a mesmer hidden inside. But when I asked he sounded fishy. I’m pretty sure it was an exploit portal. But I was already inside.
Half the people on AR are PvE player, that just follow the zerg and have no idea what’s happening. They will go thru the portal if asked, without asking question.
P.S 2 : @Drovgan : I’m not lucky enought to fight with you on the battlefield. I think I saw you once or twice. Hope to be at your side someday!

Yeah I wasn’t really asking for videos.
It mean to say : Every server have good players that can counter a Zerg. It’s not saying anything about our players abilities.
I don’t travel with the zerg, I travel with a friend of mine. We are outmanned every fight. Even if we win vs a group 3-4x larger then us, it doesn’t mean the other server is bad. It means you felt on a weaker group.

Trust me, when I was running with my mesmer friend, everybody was focusing on me. I had to go Bunker build because of that. My mesmer friend was glass cannon, and was still harder to kill then me.
Why? Because he had defensive mecanism that were a lot better then my fast draining life force bar.
They knew they would miss a lot of their attack/combo/Condition on mesmer clone/invis. So they went directly for me. Because I’m don’t stealth, I don’t stun people, I don’t have high armor, burst dps, block, endurance regen or anything else.
I only have DS, that doesn’t dodge anything. I absorb some damage while I have to lock every abilities I have in exchange of 4 static abilities.
Elementalist complaining about being all glass? What? If there is something they are good at, is surviving!
When I see a Thief trying to burst down a D/D ele hybrid, I laught. The ele full heal right away, his -33% damage and stability for 12 sec pop up. He also get the best mobility around.
So no, I don’t think Ele should say anything about not being able to tank.

Don’t know, I think we are just getting bored of fighting the same players all the time.
With the “Anonymous” player name in game, it’s really hard to develop a rivalry. Even by fighting the same server, the only rivalry we get are about number and Zerging.
As Anet decided this game would be carebear about rivalry, I prefer a different server for our next match up.
I think we all know Borliss Pass get the upper end now. It may not be a stomping like we had since release, but the winner is already decided anyway.
If you read this thread, the only thing that goes are : Zerg, more players, Borliss Pass win 10 vs 30 players fights, BP players are just better. A change would be welcome.
