It took me about a minute to log into LA on my old server Gate of Madness. Then I transferred to Tarnished Coast and it now takes literally about 5 to 7 minutes to load. And then most of the time it doesn’t load fully. Things are invisible until I stand still for a couple minutes and then they appear.
But yes, I would love for other cities to be used instead of LA all day every day.
I’m afraid that sounds like a computer issue on your end. I play on a T1 server and LA is literally wall to wall with players and it never takes more than 30 seconds to load.
There is proof of the servers not working for everyone on the techsupport sub-forum. It COULD be a pc issue, but it could also be a server issue. Regardless, the fact that LA often gets overflows is proof enough that it’s quite crowded. You don’t need some super sized event to know that.
Oh yeah, we hit overflows all the time – just about everyday.
I’m just saying a 5-7 minute loading screen would indicate that for some reason his computer isn’t playing nice with GW2 and he might want to put in a tech support ticket to resolve it.

I think you’ve got to treat the living story like a song on the radio. You can listen to the song that’s on the radio right now. There’s no point worrying about the songs you missed on the radio yesterday. If you come back to the GW2 you can enjoy the current update and hopefully by the time you need something else to do there’s another update coming.
I think of it more like moving to a new city. I cannot expect the city to go back in time and replay history for me but I can learn about it if I want to.

Some people that may not have a very comprehensive understanding of the game will tell you Warrior, but rest assured all classes are viable and some like thiefs and elementalists do more damage than warriors.
That link should give you an idea of what kind of playstyle you might like.

Some parts of these story arcs left permanent changes and content while others like the election in Cutthroat Politics would make no sense to play through now. Many things are returning periodically, like when the Zephyrites will need to come again to trade with us or story dungeons being added as Fractals.
Just jump in, the water is fine. This video may help bring you back up to speed.

You might want to check out the Tequatl Terror Squad family of guilds, they are nine guilds strong now, over 4000+ players killing Tequatl every day. They only require you to rep during a raid, I can highly recommend
From an interview with Devon Carver a couple weeks ago:
This is not something we are considering as all our servers have robust populations. Server structure has more implications that just WvW, which means any changes of these sorts would have to take all aspects of the player base into account. In addition, with the queues as they currently exist on those top tier servers, I think it’s more important for us to solve the underlying scoring issues which would let more people play than if we were to cut the number of possible players at any time in half.

Nice try though – kisses!
I am all ears…..
took me a while but I finally got it! CORNmir Bless you!
Rare as a uni-corn you are
But I’m off, nothing finer to do on a crisp fall morning than take a stroll through the Mad King’s maize.
Double click the equipped weapon icon to change stats. This opens a window with a drop down box where you pick the name of the stat combo you want (Assassins, Berserker, Soldiers, etc) You can do this anytime you are out of combat.
Doing this does not change the appearance or effects of your Legendary.
Sigils do not change the appearance or effects of your Legendary, you can change them as often as you wish.
Grats on Incinerator!
Looking at the new site, I see basically nothing more than a wall preventing support.
In fact, it would appear that Arenanet is striving very hard to completely remove a players ability to report another player in situations which arise that the in-game reporting tool fails to address the issue (not that anyone pays attention to in-game reports).
While it is still possible to file a violation report, you sure have buried it well.We have team members assigned 24/7/365 to player in-game reports. On a normal day, 100 or more players are actioned for everything bad names to nasty chat to cheating. On an abnormal day, action may be taken on literally hundreds of accounts.
No one — No one! — is ignoring in-game reports. And in-game reports have people assigned specifically to them, so they often are acted upon within minutes.
Keep up the great work, the community appreciates it
I am all ears…..
I think he’s referring to the Halloween event this year.
Remember last year the events unfolded over the course of the month, we’ve still got a ways to go til Halloween.
The Zephyrites have sailed off in their air ship and we must await their return to go back to the Labyrinthine Cliffs. They will return periodically as they need to trade goods with us.
(short answer: not right now but it will be back)
If the button press does:
Bring up the chat box, type all of the characters you want, and send the message, all in one press… I think that’s not allowed per Gaile Gray
I agree. More than one action per key press is grounds for suspension or ban. Would probably get your account suppressed from typing into chat as well.
tell me how is this better than unique icons identifiable at first glance?
with icons, i can know at first glance what each trait do.
Go ahead and draw me up an icon for Elemental Attunement that at first glance will tell me when I attune to an element that myself and nearby allies will gain a boon depending on the element: Fire – Might, 19.5s, 35 power, 35 condition damage; Water – Regen 6.5s, 855 heal; Air – Swiftness 6.5s 33% movement speed; Earth – Protection 6.5s -33% incoming damage; Number of targets 5; Radius 240.
Then make one for Evasive Arcana that shows how I will gain an attunement based spell at the end of a dodge, Fire: Flame Burst, Water: Cleansing Wave; Air Blinding Flash; Earth: Churning Earth.
Now make these 2 icons so unique that I can tell at a glance which one is which.
I have bunches more traits all with some variation of the fire, air, water, earth theme.
But how about difficult to picture traits like maintaining the passive effects of signets when activated, and how that would look different at a glance against reducing the recharge on signets or give a shot at cantrips granting me regeneration and vigor or cantrips grant me might when used.
I’ll wait.
Roman numerals are cleaner, easier to remember and significantly easier to communicate.
If I’m sharing a build with someone I can quickly tell them the numbers. If I was describing icons however it would take longer (“2” vs. “The one that kinda looks like a pair of lungs”) or I could give them the name of the trait and they would have to read through all of them to find it.
Making traits with icons is a dumb idea and when it dies it will leave a dumb corpse.

Hey why dont we just remove ALL stats/buffs/gear/skills/traits/class mechanics from WvW and have everyone run around in underwear with a 1dps dagger and nothing else. I mean it would be balanced right?
Freakin’ bookahs have better underwear. NERF HUMANS.
And the rat people are smaller and harder to target – make everyone the same size!
Sticky on the main discussion page. Looks like we can expect some relief in the patch next week.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Official-state-of-skill-lag-and-server-optimizations/
I see no issue with ascended gear in WvW since there is nothing anywhere that indicates one server would have better access to ascended gear than any other.
What next? Remove buff foods?
I have a bloody terror of krait and their towers.
(said in Harrison Ford’s voice ala Indiana Jones)
Krait! Why did it have to be krait!
1. Future plans for progression gear (ascended and beyond)
2. Expected roll out for QoL features (guild management tools, better preview functions for armor, weapons and dyes)
3. Scaling on World Bosses (more Tequatl-type bosses)
One of the best features of GW2 is that you don’t have to bother with leveling or gearing up to do PvP. Simply roll a new toon, go straight into the Heart of the Mists (crossed sword icon) where you are upleveled to 80 and have free access to all the traits/abilities/runes/sigils/weapons and stat amulets.
There you can play around with different builds and test them out on the target golems, profession targets or jump into some hot join matches to see how they play live. It’s an awesome way to see what kinds of playstyles you like.
Here’s a good summary of the strengths and weaknesses of each profession.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1ojgdr/what_class_should_i_play_a_summary_of_each/
We might hear something tomorrow, there’s another patch still before Halloween and we haven’t even seen the Mad King yet!
Hey Priam, I’m an ex WoW high end raider myself and I can assure you it’s just the combat and the way skills work together that’s so different in GW2 that is making you feel like “that guy”.
I don’t even want to look at how many times I died on my first toon, an elementalist, before I got the hang of things lol. It’s hard until you get it, but once it all clicks you’ll love it
Damage mitigation, positioning and CCs are much more important. There’s no rotations, it’s much more situational and combo skills and cross profession combos add another element to gameplay.
Here’s a pretty good basic guide.

Looks like we’ll get some relief at the end of the month.

Extra fun fact: the population of WvW who plays any given week regularly is larger than the entire population of all of Gw1 the game any given week for a large chunk of the games lifespan. Just want to put things in perspective, Gw1 was amazing, but there is a reason we made Gw2.
Looks like it’s being actively worked on and we should get some relief at the end of the month.

Supposed to be some optimization happening at the end of the month that will address skill lag.
/highfive to GW-EN radio! They are doing great stuff here and I feel very pretty in pink
Your guild still exists on Devona’s Rest. Guilds are tied to the server they are created on.
Yup.
http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html
(generally you can find many servers that run it right after reset to get the daily chest)
In addition to the other ways mentioned above, you can get ~20k from Scarlet Invasions.
Most servers can’t fill four maps, why do we need a fifth?
I’m excited about new terrain and possibly new objectives or gameplay, but populations are too sparse already, this will make that problem worse.
It’s a good question, and one we talked about a lot. Above all else, our main raises behind adding another map (which can overflow and create multiple copies of itself) include:
- On many more populated servers in NA and EU, there are queues, this would allow people to play the game they want at all times.
- We want to do things in the future, this map included, that will help get more people interested in WvW. We need to make sure we’re not just making them sit in a queue when we do that.
- The game is going to be launched in other parts of the world, and on launch in NA/EU we had queues for WvW on just about every world. In some of the largest gaming parts of the world say, China for example which we’re in beta for right now, we’re seeing massive responses from guilds that make NA/EU guilds look tiny. These guilds all want to play WvW on the same world together, this map will help facilitate a better launch in new regions, as well as the much larger guild alliances you find in the east.
Hope that helps a bit! We know for much smaller worlds this may seem like it’s no big deal, since you never deal with queues anyway, but the gameplay and experience should hopefully be fun (and different) such that it may attract new players to WvW. It also opens up opportunities for us to do other types of experiences in WvW across all worlds that may help bolster smaller worlds populations as well.
Looks like in addition to using this to relieve queues and test new ideas for WvW, it’s also being launched in anticipation of the China crush.
I’m hoping that these massive guilds can help push for more guild management tools for everyone.

Colin, you’re going to need a bigger boat
Also, do you see China driving the much needed and often requested guild management tools?
In the entire year I’ve been playing GW2 I’ve never seen ArenaNet purposely “stealth nerf” a profession. I think it is hostile to the developers for you to assume that.
If you see a skill performing differently than stated in the patch notes or the tool tips it could be any number of reasons:
- A bug
- A typo in the patch notes or on the tooltip
- A misunderstanding on the player’s or developer’s end on how the change would affect the skill
You should bring it to their attention via the Bug Report forum so that they can clear up any bugs, typos, misunderstandings before assuming that they are “stealth nerfing”. Really, what purpose would that even serve?
Stealing this idea from a poster on reddit that suggested the Living Story blogs be organized for better access so we don’t have to dig through all the game news to read them.
Love what you are doing with them btw, the Halloween event feels like a nice mix of ingame and web backstory.
You can get another set by rolling a new necromancer, transmuting the helm with the zombie eyes on a low level white or blue item which makes it account bound and put it in your bank. Your current necromancer can then withdraw it from the bank and transmute it on to your current armor.
I think it showcases how this game is more about skill than stats. Your misclicks = misses, rather than misses being tied to a passive stat.
3D Studio Max & Adobe After Effects
(love that video btw, he makes some really great stuff!)
You have to understand that the forums are an extreme minority of the player-base. If I had to pull a number out of my kitten , the forums would probably be less than 1% of the player-base.
More like less than 0.01%.
Assuming an active population of about 2 million players, a huge hot topic that receives 200 posts by separate people (4-5 forum pages) represents 0.01% of those two millions.
I believe there’s an active population of 400,000 though, not 2 million.
Actually it’s 2.5 million with a concurrency of 460,000 (concurrency is the number of players logged in at the same time).
Trying playing with the character model limit and quality options also. If you have model limits on low, the game will show the names.
Open the Game Menu by clicking the gear icon at the upper right of your screen. The 2nd button is Options, go there and play with your settings.
Glhf and welcome to the party!
Ofc I don’t have the metrics for the event (nor do I see us ever being privied to them), but most severs I have tried guesting to for it have been ghost towns.
Here is the leaderboards which show Tequatl kills by server:
http://gw2dragons.com/dragons/leaderboard
However, kills obtained on overflow servers are not presented on that Leaderboard. As of yesterday the Tequatl Terror Squad alone is over 200 kills on overflow servers:

I participated in the Pink Day in LA last year and it was great fun, lots of contests and activities. I also won a Mini Pink Moa for my fabulous dive from the LA high dive!
I am noticing it is slower than usual when loading sell listing information but it is working fine.
