Danica, could you folks look into the +1 function to see if it’s working properly? I’m seeing many posts here with the +1 grayed out as if I upvoted it when I clearly did not.
This is just the kind of thing I was imagining when they first announced a Guesting feature and I’m excited to be part of this family of guilds and see where it takes us.
And big high fives for merforga’s brilliant Flight Captain announcements in Teamspeak – made me laugh so hard
Turn the screenshake and sound off. It’s on your options menu
I think you need a small break from LA.
The trading post in Black Citadel usually a quiet corner of the world if you want to get away from the madding crowds.
Endgame is building rank in WvW and working with your server to victory, Fractals (an everscaling dungeon), Guild Missions, 32 dungeon paths and smashing content every 2 weeks.
It’s not so much about gearing up since it’s pretty easy to get gear. There are no ilvl gear lockouts on content, your skill defines you more than the stats on your gear.
Welcome to the party, balrog!
I’ve been playing since the 2nd beta weekend and with over 2000 hours clocked since launch, this is hands down the best MMO I’ve ever played. Just give a shout if you have any questions, the community is very friendly and helpful
There’s more players now than at launch. 2.5 million players log in each week.
There are more players in WvW alone in any given week than playing GW1 the entire game in any given week.

…inside the Labyrinth is nothing short of brilliant! Very much enjoying the show, ty
I have to agree on this one. The “Skill recharging” spam is not needed.
Also getting Lion’s Arch music in the new instance. I ran the -repair utility which did not change anything.
In Lion’s Arch I still hear the old Lion’s Arch music.
There’s tons of back items.

Yeah, he’s definently chaotic evil, while entertaining and fun, is pretty horrible. Which is why I so much more like Palawa Joko who’s lawful evil, who MKT seems to have a war with, or had and will probably resume.
I still think he is too deep in madness in his mind to be truly evil.
He starved his subjects then cut off their hands when they stole food. That’s pretty kitten evil.
Bank slots, bag slots for your main and transmutation crystals are your go-to items. Go for some nice armor skins or toys if it appeals to you.
As an elementalist I have 20 weapon skills at any given time plus my choice of 3 heals, 3 of 20 utilities (4 of which unlock 5 additional weapon skills each) and an elite skill.
It’s plenty complex, I almost dropped the profession when I was learning it because it was so complicated and I use to play the most complex class of them all in my last MMO. Seriously it doesn’t need anything more.

So evil that his subjects conspired to kill him, dismember his body and scatter his body parts to the four corners of Tyria.
He’s coming back and he’s kitten ed.
Well, he was Mad and Evil. But now he play with toys and every year comes to Tyria to celebrate stuff.
Did you not do the dungeon last year?

Here’s a great little searchable database that lets you look up food items by level and buffs. Has drop down lists for the searches, just pick the buffs you want and it will give you a list of foods that have it.

They have made quite a few changes with more to come, but you should post any feedback you have to the official thread so they can better review it.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Official-state-of-skill-lag-and-server-optimizations/
This. I used to manage forums for a game company. When I came on board the trolling and negativity was out of control. Some users were pure trolls, while others were just following the bad behavior of others. I implemented a system where staff would basically give points to every post that was constructive and helpful. It could be anything from feedback to suggestion, answering a player helping player with a thorough answer, or posting a guide or walk through. Even negative feedback could get positive points from staff as long as it was well thought out, respectful, and constructive.
When someone posted something constructive a staff member would comment in the thread praising the post (public praise). Once users acquired a certain amount of points, we would put a star in their signature.
On the flip side, the nonconstructive posts violating the rules would be removed, and the user would get negative points and a personal message explaining exactly why the post was removed. Temporary bans were implemented for repeat offenders.
It took a while, but after a few months the trolls moved on and the forums were a much happier place.
After I left the company, they went to a social media linked style forum where instead of a user name, your real name and picture were next to every post. Needless to say a wonderful community tanked very quickly and never rebuilt after that. Even the good constructive user wouldn’t use the system.
Excellent post, I give you a star
Some thoughts from a T1 server player…
On reset night the queues are ridiculous, this Friday I waited for over 2 hours to get in a borderlands map. I don’t even try for EB anymore. During the week the queues aren’t bad, maybe a 1/2 hr at the most.
But I am fully expecting queues to go around the clock when leagues hit. Players will get in and not leave until they dc or drop from exhaustion.
Also, consider this:
I’d just like to make a note of one thing that I think people aren’t considering when they transfer to stacked worlds. You will not, repeat will not, be able to receive the reward based on overall world place in the league, unless you achieve the meta achievement for the season. If you aren’t able to get into WvW much, you won’t get the rewards. So it is absolutely taking a risk to transfer to a world that has a large WvW population.
Works pretty much the same as gw2lfg.com does.
Groups form almost instantly, highlighting the strength of a no trinity system.
Big plus is that you can say what kind of group you want or join the kind of group you’re interested in.
WvW is a mini game. It doesn’t even count on the log in screen, btw. My Guardian’s stats say “Map Completion: 100%” but when I get in-game, it’s 99% due to WvW.
That is some mini game
Extra fun fact: the population of WvW who plays any given week regularly is larger than the entire population of all of Gw1 the game any given week for a large chunk of the games lifespan. Just want to put things in perspective, Gw1 was amazing, but there is a reason we made Gw2.
Not enough thumbs up for your excellent post, Josh
That’s weird, same thing for me locoman – I zoned back and it looks normal now.
Now tell me the liklihood of getting that %100 map completion again…
DR is elite! LOL!
It’s less about their overall ranking and more about how they do in the matches each week. Here is your server’s history.
http://mos.millenium.org/servers/history/50
As you can see they have their shares of ups and downs as do all servers. But there have been many times when they’ve come out in first place, and the starting maps change fairly often.
There’s a live map button on that link that you can watch to see if a particular POI or vista you want is claimed by your server.

On the flip side, why do WvW players need to run dungeons and complete PvE maps to get their legendaries?
Answer: Becoming legendary requires playing all aspects of the game.
Depends on the boon.

This is pretty decent.

From Devon Carver’s Q&A yesterday…
This is not something we are considering as all our servers have robust populations. Server structure has more implications that just WvW, which means any changes of these sorts would have to take all aspects of the player base into account. In addition, with the queues as they currently exist on those top tier servers, I think it’s more important for us to solve the underlying scoring issues which would let more people play than if we were to cut the number of possible players at any time in half.

You mean people don’t enjoy spending over an hour for poor rewards even when the event doesn’t fail!?
The rewards are actually pretty good! There’s 5 chests total, ~20k karma – I usually get 4x rares, sometimes an exotic, and the usual bunches of blues and greens. Got the Tequatl mini once and generally see at least one player linking the Tequatl’s Hoard (which holds an ascended weapon).
Results not common. I have yet to loot an exotic or a mini despite killing Teq on Blackgate nearly daily since the revamp. My bet is I could find more people in my situation than in yours.
Surely you’re not proposing that everyone get a mini Tequatl every time they kill him are you? The market would be flooded and cries of Mini Priests of Balthazar 2 would ensue.
Right now the mini is rare enough to be meaningful without being so rare as to be meaningless. Judging by the falling price on the trading post a fair few are dropping.

Yes, the combat is very different from that other game. It’s much more situational, more focused on boons (short incombat buffs) and combos.
For combos, one person lays a field, the same person or anyone else can blast finishers in the field. Here’s a good tool to show you combos.
http://mastodonte.fr/outils/tool-combo#en
Here’s a video that highlights boons.

Now generally in the open world it’s not that much of a concern as it is in more highly skilled combat situations like explorable dungeons, high level fractals or spvp. I do have a general rotation that I use when tooling around in the open world on my scepter/dagger elementalist:
1) AIR Ride the Lightening + Updraft (for the knockback/stun)
2) FIRE Dragon’s Tooth, Ring of Fire + Phoenix (sets up the dragon tooth finisher, lay the fire field under it, blast the phoenix thru = dead mob)
More difficult mobs and bosses require more complex rotations/synergy with teammates.
The current patch brought a new explorable path in the Twilight Arbor dungeon located in Caledon Forest. After you finish the dungeon there are 5 hidden chests and an achievement to unlock them.
My guild does Teq at least once a day still.
That sounds like an advert for your guild :P

:D
Had 5 overflows simultaneously killing Tequatl yesterday at reset with hundreds more players clamoring to get in! They are training up commanders to lead this good fight – it’s great fun, if you want a kill you should check them out.
I kill him once a day every day at reset. Tequatl Terror Squad ftw!!
