In addition to the things that players above me have cited about the beautiful world, the rich level of detail, range and variety of animations and engaging content, I just want to say thank-you for the amazing combat system. My elementalist is a pure joy to play.

Not really, that’s all they ever say when they are doing maintenance. The last one was back in August.

Patches are every 2 weeks and are downloaded instantly just by relogging. The next patch will be on November 12th.

Maintenance is something else altogether, this will be the 4th time since the game launched that they’ve taken the servers down iirc. I guess it’s possible they could throw a hotfix in there but more likely it’s some optimization on their end or simply standard maintenance.

Source? As far as I’m aware ArenaNet has never stated they are working on such a feature.

It takes around 1 million karma to create a legendary weapon so you might want to hang on to it if you ever decide to make one.

I don’t believe you can get a visible back piece from karma. There are vendors located in Orr which sell Orrian Jewelry Boxes that you can use to convert karma to gold and the Temple vendors in Orr sell exotic armors of various stat combinations. You can always use it for cooking mats as well if you have cooking.

Same, I get 3-4. Not sure if the world gathering bonus would apply to the Quartz node, I haven’t got a bonus gather on that one yet.

Also you don’t have to wait to gather all your quartz, OP. It’s not soulbound, you can buy it from other players on the Trading Post.

There has to be a bug of some sort. SoR is queued right now on green and we can’t get more than 20-25 rallied on our commander. We’ve checked every inch of the map looking for 55 other people running around doing their own thing but they ain’t there.

Late last night I waited in queue to get in borderlands and after waiting was very surprised to find not very many players running around.

That is until I peeked behind the windmill and found an easy hundred players sitting on the grassy knoll watching a GvG match.

As you level you will unlock more areas and more dungeons. You are downscaled when you go to a lower areas or lower dungeons so that content stays relevant (but you get rewarded for your true level), that’s probably what your friend was talking about.

Also in structured PvP you are always boosted to 80 with max level gear, stats & abilities to make the game fair.

Yes, you get to keep it. It is a permanent addition to the skills.

It needs to be obtained on each character you want the skill on. You will be able to obtain it forever.

Save your Black Lion Salvage kits for exotics when you want the rune or sigil (hint: you can buy exotics and strip & sell the upgrade for free ectos with these, check the prices carefully first).

I use Mystic Kits for rares and I’m using the salvage-o-matic for blues and greens that vendor close trading post values.

When you transfer, the season rewards you get from WvW will be from the server you were on when the season started. You will not get the new server’s rewards.

The gold to gem conversion will continue to cost more gold as more gold gets put into the economy. They’ve increased rewards significantly over the last year but haven’t changed the gold sinks.

Don’t forget crafting to 500, ascended weapons, and the karma nerf. But you are right, people (mostly hardcore people) grind for gold too fast compared to the current sinks.

The crafting to 500 was merely exchanging gold between players but you’re right about a small sink for ascended weapons (the bloodstone bricks reagent). Even still, that’s more of a one time cost and not an ongoing sink compared to the ongoing stream of gold into the system.

Karma never generated gold from the game, only from trading with other players.

Every time you exchange gold with another player 15% leaves the economy. It all adds up.

Yes, but the trading post tax was not increased (not that I think it should be). I guess it would matter if trading increased significantly over the life of the game vs. a one time flurry of activity.

DPS over everything else. Personally I find it extremely shallow.
PvE requires no healing and close to no support, only massive DPS.
I’d love to see content that actually makes it rewarding to play as a full cleric guardian, support ele, ranger or engineer, which doesn’t doesn’t slow down your team.

Common misconception. That’s what dps is in other trinity-based games. Tank stands in front and takes damage, healer stands behind and heals damage, dps just do their dps rotation and move out of damage.

Here you have damage mitigation and healing abilities as well as straight dps. The interactive nature of the combat makes it significantly more interesting, I can blast a water field laid by another person for a group AOE heal or cast a finisher through someone else’s fire field for a host of different effects depending on the combos.

Never going back to boring trinity games.

I’ve been in on kills with up to 130 players on Teamspeak. I would imagine there are more players than that in the zone however, there’s a lot of people that don’t use voice comms.

Teq is the one thing that has ever gotten me to log into gw2 every day. Good rewards, good karma, not a complete faceroll, real chance of failure, but that seems to become less and less. Killed today with over 7 minutes left on the clock, anet might need to buff him again.

Hopefully we will get more encounters like this.

Took him down about 5am today with the Tequatl Terror Squad peeps. I’m not sure they need to buff the dragon, maybe remove the environmental weapons like the Elemental Powders I think.

It’s a skin you unlock, you get as many as you want.

Phasing was a failed experiment if I ever saw one. I doubt ArenaNet will use that model.

I suggest reporting any player that is verbally abusing you. ArenaNet is extremely strict about that.

I run with a small havoc team in WvW and when we encounter another roaming party we always target the necro first since they can seriously mess you up.

We don’t engage solo roaming engi’s since those critters are darn near indestructible and will just harass you to death and keep you in combat forever.

There is a range indicator now. The skill bar indicates whether the target is out of range when a red bar appears under the skill.

I’m going to vote no for the max distance on blink, sometimes I want to only go a short way.
