You’ll need to use the Transmutation Crystals for any level 80 armors or weapons.
Transmutation Stones can be used for items less than level 80.

Subscription fees are a scam. True story, I paid over $2000 playing WoW and at the end of the day I have nothing. I cannot login, I cannot view my characters – turns out I was only renting the game (very expensive rent to boot!).
How in creation did you spend $2000 playing WoW? I just gotta hear this one.
Subscription fees, server and faction changes, pets and mounts from their cash shop, box costs, expansion costs – it all adds up!

A well played guardian is a joy to behold and can make even the nastiest of dungeons doable. Look to your block, reflects and other defensive skills for starters. Stats like toughness just improve your personal health and don’t really do anything for the group. It’s good while you are learning but as you get better you can be more aggressive with your stat choices.
Try watching some vids to see how guardians play or join in on a dungeon run with a good guard to see how they do it.
Guild Wars 2 will be launched in China in 2014.
…business for the coming year. This includes the upcoming launches of World of Warplanes and Guild Wars 2 as well as…
I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
1) There’s always a group of players hankering to play the latest, shiniest MMO. No matter what amazekitten feature their current MMO puts out, they will try the new one. Pretty much part of the MMO genre phenomenon at this point.
2) You don’t know what ArenaNet has up their sleeve. Remember when they went all “Sup, August 28th” announcement of launch date out of nowhere that left Blizzard scrambling so hard they launched an expac without raids?
3) I spent pretty much the whole weekend in overflow. Yup, 16 months after launch and it’s crazier than ever.
Most servers host their own forums and teamspeaks. Since you can guest across worlds for anything PvE it’s only really important for WvW.
You can try watching http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/ for events, I see quite a few things announced there, or check the https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/events official forum for events.
For WvW check the https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/matchups forum, although that seems to be mostly a lot of razzing or good natured rivalry between the worlds.
Welcome to the party!
Grats to all the winners!
I’m hoping to see Rock -n- Roll versions of any new trailers from James M.!
Dulfy took some notes on what we did see today:

Last MMO I played only let you stack to 25. I’m kind of amazed they let us stack to 250.
Here’s a video showing the animations.

Double-clicking on the Pristine Fractal Relic will turn it into 15 Fractal Relics.
Could we have his backpiece? Please please please?
Some players are acting like they didn’t get any rewards during the 7 weeks of Season 1.
Truth is I fill my bags at least 4x on any given WvW night. Imo, the mini-dolyak and trophy finishers were all that should have been included in the WvW chest, I think some players built up unfulfillable expectations.
Hecksa is very talented
Btw, he is currently working on a massive community music project for this Wintersday with clips from lots of players.
The game has had 21 content patches this year alone, many of which have brought improvements to the core game as well as content.
Here’s a great video that shows what changes you’ll see right away (applies to everyone)

Very interesting to hear the creative process for the holiday theme. The areas look gorgeous as usual, can’t wait for the 10th
Matches always start and end on Friday. You can see the countdown on your region here:
They might add something small, but we will see.
It would be quite dangerous to release something somewhat big though, seeing as most people won’t work on the 25th and thus any big stuff might not be fixable until a couple of days later.
Well, they still have to get two crafting professions to 500 before end of the year. Might be on 31st, of course.
Why do they have to do that?
Hands down the best MMO I’ve ever played
Type /age into chat.
Btw, the birthday is not for your account but for the day each character was created.
This is wonderful news! My life has already ramped up into holiday overdrive and I’m going snowboarding Christmas week
Have a Very Merry Christmas, ArenaNet <3

There were 5,000 winners so there must have been at least that many entries.
Huh? That was just the default message because they probably expected 5,000. You can do a quick Youtube search to see how many videos there are. This isn’t a private competition per the rules it is public.
By submitting a Video, participant hereby grants permission for the Video to be posted on Sponsors’ YouTube Channel, website and social media pages and to otherwise be used as set forth below.
100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. How would you find them if they didn’t title them GW2?
There were 5,000 winners so there must have been at least that many entries.
It may be they just uploaded 118 videos to the playlist since it now says there are 5,000 winners.
Along with the 5,000 contest winners who received free copies of the Guild Wars 2 Heroic Edition, new citizens are flocking to Tyria from all over! Join the movement!
Look back through the forum history and you will see that the complaining has been going on since the game launched, mostly by the same people.
If you think these forum wars are about ascended gear you are very naive to the ways of internet marketing.
It’s 84g on the Trading Post, why would you spend more gold chasing the ticket scraps?
It’s always 1 ticket during the release patch, then it goes up to 5 tickets.
Your wish is their command.

Yes, you receive it on every character that does 100% map completion (which is different than the Explorer achievements btw)
What is this sorcery?
That’s weird, what level is your character? I’ve always received 2 exotics from Frostgorge, Mt. Maelstrom and the 3 Orr maps.
Higher level Basilisks, you won’t get them from low level maps. Also note that it’s not Giant’s Eye but Giant Eye.
I created an Immobulus last year (my Lucky Charms of DOOM!) and I got more Giant Eyes from killing Basilisks than I ever got from Heavy Moldy Bags. In fact I think I’ve only ever got maybe 2 or 3 from the bags.
http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html
I’ve found the best time for temples is right after daily reset when guilds run the temples for the daily chests. That or join a guild that does temple runs.
Don’t forget that you can guest to other servers as well
Believe it or not, WoW actually did release new armor sets every week for quite awhile, though I don’t remember the exact date that they started and the date they finished adding armor.
I played it for almost 4 years and never saw anything even approaching that. The most I ever saw was 2x a year. And you couldn’t even dye it.
Plus they have a cash shop also, they sell mounts and pets and recently started selling armor skins. On top of the sub fee and you cannot use ingame gold for it either.
(edited by Karizee.8076)
No, but even if I did it wouldn’t matter. In gw2, you pay and get stuff in return. In sub based games you pay just to be able to keep playing. Big difference.
You get what you pay for in GW2. In sub based games, you pay and you get much better, bigger updates than you would get in GW2. Not to mention in sub-based mmo’s, you also get new armor released practically every week. I don’t pay for armor skins in Guild Wars 2, I don’t get armor skins. I pay for everything in sub-based games, and new things aren’t withheld from me like in GW2.
I haven’t seen anything like that but then the only sub fee game I ever played was WoW. They released an armor set with every raid tier, typically 2x a year. Then you had to raid it forever to get a set which was locked behind these really terrible drop rates that you had to roll against your mates for. 6 month sub – $90 for 1 armor set (no ingame gold option). Here in GW2 – $10 (or 64g ingame gold)
I’ve spent about 1/2 what a sub would have cost. Not that I needed the gems – I’ve always been able to convert ingame gold to gems for anything I wanted from the gem store, but because I want to show my support to the devs for making such a great game and updating it so often.
Mount Maelstrom – The Stychs
If anyone wants to map them it could be interesting.
Here are 2 dot-only maps, one with and one without ingame map underlay:

Going with Kodan for their philosophy and culture. The juxtaposition of fierce violence when necessary coupled with peaceful balance and tribal nature appeals to me.
In addition to Inculpatus’ calculations consideration must also be given for the level of xp reward which can be affected by how long a mob lives or your participation level in the event.
Looking forward to this, great QoL feature and going to make the game even more alt-friendly for WvW players.
