Okay, that actually raises another question I had from before. Does “gear unification” mean that PvP gear would be usable outside the mists as PvE gear will be allowed into it? For example if I bought cultural armor from the glory vendor, at some point in the future would I be allowed to take it out? If not I’d just buy exp scrolls for my characters.
From what they stated on the PvP rewards roadmap blog, it’s my understanding that the gear unification system will allow skins to cross over both ways.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/player-vs-player-rewards-roadmap/
In the months that follow, we will be working to eliminate the difference between PvP and PvE gear. Players will be able to earn gear in PvP that can be carried over to PvE and vice versa. This means that players who have carefully crafted their appearance in one area of the game will have a way to carry that look over to other areas of the game.
The front page sounds very familiar. But let say that Anet truly wants to make your dreams reality. They will have to have a massive overhaul on everything. It is much easier to just create a new game.
If you’re going to direct people to WoW you should at least be honest about what PvP really is there.
- You have to grind out 90 levels of PvE before you can play PvP in any kind of balanced way.
- You have to run PvE raids for the best trinkets or legendaries to be competitive.
- If you try to level in PvP battlegrounds you will be facing heirloomed players that will instantly destroy you (PvP is more about stats in WoW than skill). There is simply no way to beat someone that outgears you by factors of 10x, 15x, 25×. In other words it will take years to level in PvP.
- You have to pick the right race/faction which determines what class you can play. Alliance factions lose 90% of battlegrounds, some racial skills are always overpowered over others. This goes beyond simple class balancing.
- If your class gets hit with a change you don’t like you cannot jump over and play a different one immediately like you can in GW2 – you have to go through the leveling and gearing process all over again!
But if anyone is curious about it I suggest trying their free trial – you can enter your first battleground at level 10 – go for it!

Waiting up to 2 hours trying to find a tank or healer? No thanks ! ! !
I like the instant grouping of GW2 much, MUCH better than those trinity games.
I would bring back the Fused Gauntlet. I picked the Light armor version during Flame and Frost and really, really wish I’d picked the Medium version now <3
We need more servers
I very much enjoyed completing the journal and being pleasantly surprised to get both voice acting and text when I read it – good job with this
1. Keep on doing Living Story but make it permanent.
2. Make ascended gear stat-switchable
3. Expand PvP with GvG, random arenas, deathmatch ….If you do that GW2 will be king.
Peace!
Just to address your first point, I would like to point out that if they left all the content permanent it would be the most confusing clusterbomb of a game ever created.
From beginning to end – can you imagine a world where we are simultaneously building road signs for the refugees Wayfarer Hills while the refugees have already arrived and are camping in Lion’s Arch AND have already moved on to Southsun where they are being exploited by the Consortium? All the while we have Queen’s Pavilion balloons everywhere taking players to the Jubilee while Molten Portals spawn everywhere plus we have started to open Southsun yet The Ancient Karka has already been defeated but karka are still invading Lion’s Arch?
Or how about Evon Gnashblade politicking for votes at the same time he’s bemoaning his loss while election banners are hanging everywhere and Ellen is already in the Council? Or what about Kessex Hills with the Tower of Nightmares both up and down at the same time?
Those concepts work well within a linear game where you are working your way through the story via quests and such but it simply doesn’t make sense here.
I do think the 2 week tempo feels a bit pressured and I’m happy they’ve moved towards letting the content overlap in one month chunks, but I simply don’t see how everything could be left in game within the freeform/nonlinear/multiple layers of content in zones way this game is designed.
I also like that they are bringing back some components of Living World through Fractals such as Molten Facility and Aetherblade Retreat and think that there is a great opportunity there to bring back more – I’d love to see the Tower of Nightmares return in the Mists.
As for your other points I like them! I’ve seen some developer discussion on their plans to add GvG and different PvP modes, so those things are on their way
I just assumed my Chop-It-All logging axe was causing a transformation at the subatomic level with it’s lightning effect
Pick your race, armor type (light, medium, heavy) – you can even play around on a very limited basis with dye selection.

When you find something you like, check the wiki to see where to get it.
Groups fill really fast, keep hitting the Refresh button to see new listings.
They are at the new Wurm boss as well, I like them – very well done
1800 gems to transfer to a Very High server, that’s $22.50 for all your characters.
Or you could convert gold to gems ~96 gold
Or you could delete your characters and transfer for free
Or your friend could watch the server status, I saw Blackgate fall from Full to Very High for a brief time this morning.
Home server players are prioritized over guests already. Your server is just full, it’s generating it’s own overflows.
GM Sheyla (Guild Wars 2 Support)
Jan 19 17:46Hello Davin,
Thanks for contacting the Guild Wars 2 Support Team.
In most cases the support team is not able to replace individual items in situations of this nature. However, we were able to make an exception for you in this particular situation. Please be very careful because it is extremely unlikely that we will be able to provide another replacement like this for you in the future.
You will find the Leaf of Kudzu in your mailbox. If you do not see the mail, simply reduce the mailbox content to allow pending mails to drop into the box. Please be careful to remove the mailed item using the correct character.
Thank you for your patience.
Very cool
No.

UPDATE: Due to overwhelming player response, we have decided to keep ranks in PvP. We will be looking at rebalancing later tiers to make them more achievable. Because we will be keeping the rank system, at this time we are no longer planning to move rank finishers to ladders, create alternate rank finishers, or award special legacy titles. Thank you to all the players who provided their feedback and came out in favor of keeping ranks.
If you have any glory saved up you can cash it in for Tomes that give 1 level each. 1500 glory per.

Total Makeover Kit – 350 gems each from the gem store.
Sounds like it could possibly be dragon related then! O.O
Nah everybody hopes its a dragon. I’m rooting for her in becoming our ally and joining that new group forming up that has Rox and Braham in it. They still need a sylvari
I hope not, enemies becoming allies is so played out. I also wonder if every group HAS to have one of every race in it, seems silly.
It is silly. However there are some people who only play one race and are vested in that race. So to not include a race is to exclude that player. It has more to do with inclusivity than anything else.
There are people in this game who play and like nothing but Asura or nothing but Norn. Shrugs.
I need the names of those who play only asura, for a . . . yes, a science project. I’m testing this improvement on the Superior Trebuchet and need . . . assistants.
Do not attempt to deceive – you need ammunition!
The current limit is 12 tabs.
You can move the bag (as you can do with most all panes) by left click and dragging the top of the pane.
Best MMO I’ve ever played. Massive improvements since launch, looking forward to more.
I see Blackgate tipped over to Full again this week. I can assure you it is full.
I’ve watched the servers go to Full status, then as players backfill the rest of the servers, they lift server cap phenom a number of times since launch. Note that server status does not indicate what time zones have the highest concurrency for each server nor does it indicate their interest in WvW.
As Donari said, taking time off the game should not punish you by forcing you off your server. It’s working fine.
Kind of like this?
Free trials are limited to prevent the complete and utter extinction of Moas.
(We don’t know, sorry)

You might want to post this in the new Profession Balance forum where the devs will see it.
I’ve been playing since launch, it’s my MMO of choice. Besides all the things that bring great praise to the game like the amazing graphics, animations and voice acting, no trinity combat, cooperative open world, no gearing up for PvP, frequency of content updates, etc., the main thing that keeps me playing is the wide open end game.
I’ve never felt funneled into one instance or game mode, I can literally do just about anything to progress my character. After I did my first map completion I went on a world boss binge, seriously I was hunting down the Shatterer long before there were timers or guaranteed rares. Then I got into dungeons and fractals, played the heck out of them and made enough to make my legendary. Then I discovered WvW and my server’s TS, the fun of being part of a large, server-wide war effort, the joy of victory/agony of defeat and always the fun of the fights. Lately I’ve been doing a good bit of PvP to hone my skills and having a blast with my team and meeting new peeps in soloQ.
Throughout all this the Living Story content keeps shaking things up, providing new content and new challenges, changes to the open world and tons of story.
The game isn’t perfect by any means, there’s still some areas that need attention and there’s no denying it’s definitely had its share of growing pains. It’s not for everyone, some people prefer a more linear, focused experience and don’t understand why we love it so much. But so far for me it’s the best MMO I’ve ever played.
Another player that gets them from drops here. I’ve received a few from mob drops but they definitely are rare enough to make me headsnap when I get one =)
Even Tequalt have window last time i did it.
That was changed a while back, Tequatl spawns exactly every 2 hours now.
Great changes
Other things I would love to see for the forums would include:
- a way to skip to the first dev response
- better search functions
- a way to tab through a particular poster’s responses in a thread (like we can do with the up/down arrows for devs)
You might want to post this in the new Profession Balance forum where a dev will see it
But but…then you can’t do this!
After seeing some of the comments about the OP, I guess I should clarify what I mean by randomize. I believe, in the most basic sense, that you should not know that at exactly X:XXpm the shadow behemoth will spawn on server Y.
The only world boss that has a hard timer like that is Tequatl. All the others have windows.
ANet already said this isn’t for NA or the EU version of the game 2 pages ago. Why is this still going on?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/VIP-Membership/3474276
Asian MMOs have different income models and the idea of having a VIP level as well as F2P isn’t unusual there.
However they do have cute pictures showing off the demographic of the beta. Interesting point, no Norns or Charr yet it appears. Looks as if Engineers (I think) aren’t feeling the love over there.

http://gw2.kongzhong.com/news/20131114/1045.html
Highlights:
Male/Female player ratio 54/46 but Illusionists are 44/56. Guess purple butterflies stereotype the profession there as well. Average player age 22.
Also the home page in China is currently showing a dub version of the “Our Time is Now” video. Not sure the current state of the beta there which is why I was checking. I think it’s still going on.
Interesting stuff.
Difficult to get the true meaning sometimes from the translations, but I read the 22 years as the total number of hours played between all players (which is a rather meaningless number without knowing how long the beta was up when that was totalled).
Don’t watch the timers if they bother you. Roam the world and hope you run into one
My file is 17 GB.
Dueling happens all the time in WvW and in the Obsidian Sanctum. Come join the fun
and then there is this from today

That vid was actually posted back on August 15th, 2013 in China, just reposted today on that youtube account.
The VIP membership looks to be an account upgrade, not a sub. Kinda like a cross between the Black Lion Introductory Package they just released (the 44% discount bundle) and a Heroic Edition.
I would like clarification on how the teleport to friend and resurrection buffs will work though.
Patience and careful observation is your friend on this one – watch the pathing of the NPCs before you begin and you’ll see the patterns. Use the tents or rocks as needed to get to the flags to reset your stealth, it will probably take a few tries.
Btw I knew right away which heart you were talking about and I did that one over a year ago!
Saving it for the Commando class
Is everyone supposed to get one? I’ve bought stuff from the gem store before and haven’t got one yet.
It was a Wintersday promotion for the month of December:

Got mine late yesterday, thank-you ArenaNet for making a great game that I’m proud to support.
