:( Sorry to hear that.

I would imagine they could at least restore the deleted character. Everyone should be allowed at least one restore. Problem is character slots and names and things obviously.

I haven’t heard of many people getting sole items restored from mishaps though. Maybe its kind of hard with their system.

Thats sadly the biggest “issue” with having the items rewarded lately through the achievements. Instead of a ‘quest’ or something. But I guess they do it that way to prevent large influxes of the items. Like how people were farming the back slots for Halloween. Not that there should be anything wrong with that. But I dunno what ANet thinks sometimes.

If dying is too much (we’d get hundreds of different ones) then the very least they could do is have an optional reward where you can pick from 3 different colours or so

Yeah I think this is probably their best bet. Let us maybe change the colors in Mystic Forge with dyes or offer different colored options.

I know some backpacks are supposed to be distinct in color. Like the charr and quaggan backpacks. Maybe just don’t allow stuff like that to be dyed. /shrug

More options is always better ANEt.

I think every back piece should be dyable…
but my annoyance is how it clips so badly with t3 light and medium shoulders (i also have a pic of one of my necros; but only one attatchment per post it seems "/)

Is that on a male sylvari? Tier 3 light shoulders doesn’t clip near as bad on female sylvari. Actually it barely clips at all.

Thats a shame. Clipping ruins everything.

I’m pretty sure when the big stink occurred the first time around they mentioned it’d probably stay in Fractals.

I don’t see why they would suddenly just apply it in the open world though. Not as many people have max Agony Resistance as some may think. If it just appeared in some open world event there would be a lot of complaining again thats for sure. :/

As far as the way the new items were made. I kind of feel they maybe wanted to try infusion slots instead of the usual gem slots. But it also has turned into a buggy situation that you lose the infusion slot if it is transmuted. Though this may also be the first time gear with infusion slots started being transmuted.

What color do you glow?

in Sylvari

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

I really wanted my Sylvari’s glow to match her eyes. As I found it really odd that their eyes would glow independently a different color then their internal glow. xD Just a matter of perspective honestly.

The color schemes people do always turn out so neat, but I just went for bland old green. Cause green is the best color ever.

I’ll never be able to do my Sylvari justice in screenshots.

Can you let us dye backpieces now, please?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

While I love the original white flower (I like plumeria :P). I do want to dye the stem part of it since its green doesn’t match my grassy green armor. But I can make do with what it is.

But I’d love to see them let people dye their backpacks. It’d make much more diversity for people and they could make the backpacks exist match their armor better. I’d also love to see different colored flowers everywhere. :P Only issue I can see is changing glow and particle effect colors might be a thing. But who knows.

Also I love your dye scheme. It’s very vibrant and cool to look at.

Thanks in advance for answering.

You will lose the infusion slot sadly. But keep the gem slot that is on your backpack.

the flower is just as disturbing as the tentacles if you play a sylvari, after all, what function do flower serve in plants? now think of a parallel in animals. yeah, you’ve got one growing out of your shoulder, and it’s spewing pollen everywhere…

darnit anet, kids play this game!

(also, those aren’t tentacles… THEY’RE GENTACLES!)

lol, jeeze. Now I’ll think of this every time I look at that flower on my Sylvari… >.<

Can you not use it while you are boosted to 80 in Southsun?

Just I was under the impression that low level players got boosted again for this event. So I’d think that it would allow usage of the food. Not sure how boosting works for item use to be honest. Seems like a oversight.

But I don’t see why it wouldn’t count unless the item somehow disappeared when the event ended. But I’d wait for their say so on that answer.

Yeah the green bit is a weird green color. Even with my all green/grassy colored armor it would still never match for the way the tier 3 dyes.

The flower I kind of like being white. But more options to dye is always a good thing. More variety among people then and would be nice to see what people come up with.

Why no option to remove gliding camera?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

To me, “camera glide” makes me think of the half-life 2/source engine where there’s no view-bob and it feels like you’re gliding around, rather than walking over terrain…

but i don’t see how that applies to gw2.

Yeah this is what I thought he meant too. I’m not one for camera terminology in games it seems. O.o

As far as the camera being weird I’m not sure. It seems fine to me and I’ve played WoW and tons of other games. Granted I’ve never been one to be picky about camera settings in a game. Only thing that annoys me is camera/mouse sensitivity. And there are options for that and it works fine.

The biggest issue in GW2 to me, camera wise, is the zoom being so limited. That and the angle is a little different then what you are used to initially. But I have no issues with it.

They never dropped a lot for me. But the first couple of chests I opened from one of the keys I got from the quest during headstart I got 12 keys in a row from the chests. Thats the most keys I’ve ever seen.

Drop wise I’ve seen maybe 4 since then. The way I see it, if I loot one of these keys its probably a chance of a exotic I never saw. lol

Why I came back to GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

I always have a hard time going back to old (and new sometimes) MMOs since playing GW2.

Moving while casting and not having to worry about kill stealing or just waiting to tag monsters and stuff has spoilt me so so bad.

I do enjoy Secret World and Neverwinter isn’t bad. Both have dodge mechanics and cleric at least in Neverwinter can move while casting (can move while casting TSW too) one of their special channel spells. Of course neither ones combat feels as good and easy flowing as GW2 does to me.

Do you listen to music playing gw2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I usually just stick with in-game music a majority of the time. But if I need to dual task I listen to audiobooks (never though I would actually listen to books, but I can’t deny it makes me getting through books a lot faster these days :P), livestreams, radio, news, etc.

Music is usually anything really, I have a nice selection that happens pretty often on Pandora that is a lot different then what I normally listen to in the car and cleaning and stuff. :P Ranging from Disney tunes to heavy metal, so yeah… xD More often then not just classical music since you can’t go wrong there.

If they are truly doing something to inhibit your gameplay and you feel that it at least needs to be addressed then by all means send some screenshots or make a video and explain the situation thoroughly. Nothing may happen, or maybe a warning will be thrown out or something. You don’t know till you try.

But sadly “trolling” seems to be the new thing these days. If you can, do you best to just avoid them and carry on. The kids get bored pretty easy if you don’t react. :/

100% map completion not going to happen.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

At first, i was angry that WvWvW was a requirement for 100% map completion. And honestly, i still do not fully agree with the decision. The one thing that softened the blow is as i have been doing WvWvW, i have been slowly been getting the vistas, and Points of interest. I log on once a day, see what my server has captured and see if there is anything that i can acquire. I have been treating it as a very high PvE area, with VERY aggressive and powerful enemies.

Keep at it, you CAN get 100% if you are patient enough.

This is pretty much what I did and I can say I agree with you. And I’m on a terrible WvW server Ferguson’s Crossing. xD I actually quite enjoyed myself when I participated for a while too.

Of course once you get down to those two waypoints or something that you need that is never taken ever or you have anything remotely close to it can be REALLY frustrating. With that, all I can say is try to check every time you log in and at certain intravels. Maybe early in the morning or late at night when WvW may have thinned out a little.

It can be very frustrating, but its one of the most fulfilling accomplishments I feel I have done in GW2. Honestly I felt that the bugged out skill points on maps was more frustrating then participating in WvW. But to each their own.

Direct Song: Support Issues

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Katreyn.4218

I’ve only used DirectSong once for my signed copy of Skyrim music. The only problem I had with them was their massive delay in sending it and not keeping me at all updated. The Skyrim packaging itself was literally paper glued to plastic holders with paper spines an inch long, meaning if I keep opening it, it will eventually tear.

I probably won’t ever be using them again after hearing about this on top of my own experiences. When I bought it, I was thinking I’d have it forever, Based on the packaging, I’d be lucky to have it by 2014.

Yeah mine took like 4 months to get to me. I’m glad I got it as a huge fan, but it was not worth the worrying. T_T Not to mention the 4 weeks it took to get confirmation I even paid despite emailing their support.

Not to mention my friend ordered the GW2 soundtrack for my birthday 6 months ago and still hasn’t recieved it.

And yes, they have such shoddy contact information. There is no formal way to contact them. Their forums is worthless as they never post responses and their email service is just as bad. And no phone number anywhere on their site.

Last man standing = Best player in the party?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

I’d say last person standing is either lucky, best at using their party members as meat shields, or is pretty good at kiting. Depending on class there are other reasons for this aswell.

Don’t think being the last one standing is always such a good thing in this game. It really depends on why/how they are the last person standing. Did they solo that last boss we all died on? Then yeah they deserve some kudos. :P But I haven’t seen that happen very often in this game.

Disappointed that F&F ends w/ a dungeon

in Flame and Frost

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

I understand peoples pain here. As I have always felt really uncomfortable trying to do story dungeons with strangers and actually wanting to see the cutscenes. After the 2nd one I just opted to skip them and watch the cutscenes on youtube (I shouldn’t really have to do this sadly…granted I wouldn’t have to if I didn’t PuG).

I think the choice should exist in the future honestly, but its up to the developers and how they want to portray their story and content. I can’t argue about that.

That said, I haven’t ever really had any issues getting groups for holiday content in the past. Granted I am usually able to play within the first day. And there are a lot of people around the entrances or LA looking for groups for it. Never had a bad experience with it either other then the issue of if the leader drops group we get booted happened once or twice.

Way I see it, there are plenty of other people like me and others in this thread that are leery or uncomfortable with group play for whatever reason. Or just don’t have the proper time/want to enjoy it fully, etc etc. We know we are playing an MMO, so don’t need to go on about that. But that said, there are other people that feel the same way that need a group too for the dungeon. So if all the people that would normally solo/not have a group expressed their want for a group when the dungeon occurs then there should be no problems really. (Also sorry if that doesn’t make sense)

It’s not like this is the usual daily dungeon runs anyways. Everyone is there for the same goal. Want to experience the content/story. Most won’t rush through it unless they have done it a couple of times. But if you express that you haven’t done it before most people will understand, if they don’t want to then they can leave and you can find someone else that doesn’t mind. Good thing about MMOs is there is always more people to choose from.

What class is your main?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

Ele. Mostly just go with staff. D/D is fun too but I prefer kiting and the spells you get with staff are better rounded and more varied and work well for me. Ele fits me like a glove though. It’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had with a mage class in a game. And also enjoy combo fields a lot. xD

I haven’t gotten too far with alts. Have a Necro in her 40s, and a Guardian in her 30s. Both aren’t bad but I prefer just to play my Ele for some reason. :x I’ve never been one for an attention span very long for alts. I level them in short bursts, usually when friends start/want to play alts/leveling crafting.

Star Trek Online actually has a really nice cash shop. Not a single item in it gives you an in-game advantage. It’s all just skins. Last I heard STO was making loads of money for NcSoft as well.

STO has it’s own share of problems though, mainly a lack of any real end game for a product that’s been out for years.

I will have to agree that The Secret World is about the only thing I can think of that has the buy once and play forever system that doesn’t ostracize you for nothing buying into their cash shop. They seem to be doing ok with their cash shop and haven’t made any serious dependence on it.

The other f2p games with cash shops now like Aion and the countless ones usually put a heavy emphasis on the cash shop. Not forcing you into it, but the game feels very barren without using the items they provide. Aion does seem to mostly do costumes though and the mini pets with bag space and emotes from what I recall. Some of the other Eastern MMOs are usually the worse culprits of f2p.

SWTOR seems to be middle of the road, but to be honest the limitations they apply on your account is a little ridiculous to me. Especially as someone who was a paying subscriber up to that point. I can now not even access half of my quick bars. >.< Nevermind all the races, etc. I have no idea if they changed this from last year, but it just totally ruined any chance of me ever playing it again.

Quality can be hard to find when ‘free’ gets thrown into the picture. I have to agree that at least GW2’s paywall seems to help them quite a bit in keeping it so though. Same went for GW1.

Oh yay, its this thread again. :P

But honestly its a lot easier to get money now then it was when I was farming for it. Took me like 3 months with out really pulling any huge amount of time. I j ust farmed Orr for stuff. Nowadays you can get guaranteed rares that you can turn into ectos or sell for 20s each. If you do all the bosses you get quite a few guaranteed rares not even what else drops.

Even if they changed the stats people would still complain that they are overpriced. And if they get underpriced someone will still complain. I really think the stats just exist for flavor. Only set you might use relative to level is the tier 1 sets and their stats are still crap.

Sylvari themed sets all the way!

I love my Sylvari armor. Tier 2 chest is weird with the “wings” though.

I also really like the Norn cultural armor. It is definitely the best looking imo.

Also loved the Ritualist armor in GW1. And the Mesmer armor in GW1. Only thing that looks even remotely close to that in game is some of the human armor and the masquerade set which has a lot of elements I can’t stand to it. lol

Would be nice to see some more metal looking stuff, or dyes that look more metallic. But I dunno if that would fit too much for the game. But I do know a lot of the heavy armor can have a tendency to look painted at the moment.

And we need more toned-down light armor like the heritage set imo. Male light wearers deserve more pants; Hell so do the females:

I will agree that a lot seem pretty bland and not very good. I guess its just an extra damage button in reality. Rather in GW1 where they literally made a build. The summons like Mistfire and stuff seem even more bland. They dont last long enough to account for the cooldown.

As far as Ele I kind of like the Elemental elite, its nice to have an on-call tank sometimes at least for my build. The greatsword is pretty awesome too, not really my thing, but it is good damage no doubt. The Tornado/Whirlwind is pretty bleh. But only way to get stability as an Ele for me and whirlwind is better then no elite underwater. But god its pretty much a death sentence underwater to be totally honest.

How much of your money does Anet have?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Katreyn.4218

Around $100. Got the DDE and think I spent some more on gems twice now. Not too much by game standards for me. The whole transfer gold to gems really helps, that and I try my best to avoid temptations of the gem store unless I really need it or want to have it and have money to spare. Honestly I haven’t even got all upgraded bank tabs cause I’m a stingy person. xD

In GW1, I don’t even want to know how much money I’ve gave them. xD I’ve bought the whole game set for at least 3 people and in-game purchases a-plenty.

I’d say I am doing quite cheaply in this game compared to other games I ‘ve played for years (hasn’t even been a year yet though :P). Though I admit I am quite more apt to want to waste money in the gem store since there is no 10-15 dollars I have to throw at them anyways. But I try to save it for occasions when something might occur that I really want (what I am doing right now).

Even if in the future we do see a higher grade Ore. I don’t think it will be within this year at least imo.

Definintely worth it for a main. Would be interesting to see variants in the future for other stuff. Burning ore with lava pits is fun, but I don’t think it would work for trees and stuff. Wouldn’t be anything left. :P

Maybe Mini’s in general should just be silent. I can’t say I have encountered any that are really annoying sound wise. The Princess Doll makes sound but I can’t really say if its on the same level of annoying as super monkey. Silent until clicked on by the person wishing to hear the sound? I dunno.

Not to mention as stated above. Super monkey sparks peoples brain into thinking of the monkies that ruin your day in SAB. lol

Other then the sound, I don’t mind the blue glow very much. As it is part of the aspect of them. But I kind of wish it’d be toned down a bit. They pretty much have no color because of this or even the hint of color. But at the same time, that could also be the same side effect of being ripped out of the 8 bit universe as the glow is.
