Flame Eye Appearance Transmutation bug

Katreyn.4218

hi i had the same bug and was wondering if this has been fixed, and i deleted the transmuted item afterwards and was wondering if there is any other way to get the item back,
seems like creating a new lvl 1 mage doesn’t do it anymore as the lvl 1 items are now all soulbound for reasons i do not know…

It’s still not fixed. Every patch I hope that it gets fixed, but to no avail so far. Maybe one day.

As far as getting another one, other then making another character and transmuting it I dunno. I heard that even though it says its soulbound you can usually still use it on another character, no idea if they fixed that even. >.< If they did, then they really should consider allowing people to access the starter item again via a vendor/seasonal hat vendor if they ever put one in, and fix the issue.

I’d say they did this so they can get more out of the event…as in next year. People could get 2 more, so they don’t necessarily have to make more, maybe just one new one instead of 5 new ones.

It is a little sad though. But I can’t complain. Thats two that I got for free for once instead of gems.

Still seems kind of weird considering we have all this excess time for the event running, but I guess that is for the majority of the playerbase to get around to the events if they are busy.

They are pretty rough but survivable…biggest issue is they don’t stay grouped like the skritt do. So they ranged bomb you and cast that AoE while you have to usually single target kill them cause they don’t like to stay in AoEs lol. I haven’t died from them but my low level characters have to pop every cooldown to survive.

I think there was some improvements made. Funneling the people to different areas is nice (I ended up by myself one time – was weird). I think it addressed most issues people had. I enjoyed it, but was definitely a difficulty difference from the Halloween one.

The ending was a bit hard and buggy for me. Just getting knocked off by invisible things? And reloading endlessly after that.

The presents exploding freaked me out the first time. xD

My mother suffers from facial blindness (has had it all my life), so I kind of understand your pains with your disability.

That said, I am glad you feel you have find a game that you can enjoy and have fun in; its always a good feeling to not have to forfeit our favorite activities because of it. I personally have MS and while I am young, I still have very bad flare ups that makes gaming almost impossible at times, but games like this actually help me combat my disability.

From the survey: Would you refer a friend?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Katreyn.4218

I invited two friends, one couldn’t play that weekend, and another played for like two days, he was deeply confused the entire time.

When I tried to show them the “event” I started at Part 2 and we waited around in LA to wait for the cutscene and it never happened. Then spontaneously the ship appeared to go the cove so we went. Got split up in overflows and zero way to back to each other because every overflow was full. >.< So I did the lag fest of the event on my overflow and he attempted to participate in his. Friend was only like level 5 when he went so he got zero exp and didn’t unlock weapon skills, etc. I told him just to go back to Queensdale, because it was a pretty bad introduction.

I didn’t try again later trying to group up on the island because I felt it wasn’t worth it. He would probably have a much more enjoyable time just leveling up in the game.

I felt ashamed after that event to even talk about it with him. lol. It still is this sullen silence when we hang out.

On the survey I said I wouldn’t do it again and thats the truth. I was so glad to have the option to let friends experience the game, boy was I wrong.

How do you feel about getting Ascended Gear?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

my thought : current strategy is a stupid move really.

if i were ANET, my strategy would involve elevation of currently worn exotic armor to ascension. of course it will involve items that are available as drops if you willing to farm them, or at TP if you want the short cut. that way we’ll have gear progression, as they are not automatically become obsolete, only need to be upgraded….

That would be a perfect solution, in a perfect world. Item farm for time sink or potential money/karma sink. Can have or don’t have to have item unless you participate in an area that needs resistance; prices of exotics don’t tank for crafters, etc. Everyone is happy.

Given the amount of items needed for the back it would take a while as well as cut into your saving for Legendary. Never mind make an essence infusion. It seems to go against their “building a bridge” ideology. They really love their 250 ea.

As far as the ring, I highly doubt I will ever get that far in Fractals (only on level 2). Don’t have the health to play consistently, even though I do enjoy the dungeon, getting a group for me is not easy for personal reasons. But I’m not going to gripe about my shortcomings preventing me from getting items.

Overall, I wish they had just made the agony resist gear a separate entity that people could grind but no stat difference. Plenty of people would farm gear for resistance and not complain (those that don’t mind spending time grinding for gear) and everyone else can be happy they all remain on the same level.

At the moment I have kind of lost my enjoyment in the game. But I almost feel there is even less a reason for me to keep playing, if I am not farming Fractals. I’ll check back in for Winter’s veil and other holidays. But as far as grinding gear to keep up idk. Expansions? I even less want to know what that has in store for me besides story.

It should be said, I have nothing against grinding for items, money, etc. or grinding in general in a game. But I, like others, came to GW1 and this game expecting it to be all laid out in front of us and not have to worry about significant gear elevation like other MMOs experience. I’m not going to spout about them breaking their “promise” or whatever. But I would have liked to have seen them use another route then the current one.

Sadly I wish this survey had a field to leave further comments. The “other” section doesn’t always apply, and I feel given the circumstances that arose in a lot of the cases in the weekend we should of had more ways to express like/dislike for it. Usually surveys ask for reasoning behind our decisions… but yeah. At least there is a survey, maybe that will open their eyes.

As for the survey not showing up for some people. Mine was in my spam folder on gmail. So check there.

2 Precursors from the chest? Really?

I was pretty stoked just getting a 20 slot bag and some halfway decent exotics (I was easily expecting total trash for my time put in >.<). To think a person could get two precursors out of the same chest is crazy. O.o Assuming that is what happened and they didn’t do the event multiple times.

I think its nice that the precursors kind of came into the market more, at least for price drop purposes, but I doubt we will see this happen again in a long time. At least not with the same process as this. Or maybe this is exactly what they wanted…who knows.

Southsun cove afterwards?

Katreyn.4218

I was disappointed there wasn’t a single vista in the zone, maybe in the future.

But as far as things to do, it really doesn’t offer much better then Orr. My experience with material drops was pretty minimal compared to Orr, hoping that it was partly to do with some kind of drop rule they had in because of all the upleveled people. Who knows.

As far as nodes go didn’t seem to be a vast amount (quite a lot of trees and mithril, but Cursed Shore has a lot too). You can easily sweep the entire cove pretty quickly for an Ori run. But there is only 3 nodes I think, not sure if that Rich Ori node will be there always.

But I do think you need Karka shells for a recipe or two for the Mystic Forge…so thats a reason to go there. :/

I was almost glad to get back to killing Risen after the weekend though…all that complaining I had about their pull abilities pales in comparison to barrell roll 2x hp Karkas.

BUT, the event to help the dude kill off the nests near the Lion’s Point gives Ori picks for Karma. Bought up a bunch of those. Will definitely go back for that.

Was worth it for me I felt.

3 hrs =
20 slot bag and account bound accessory (pretty much a level 80 version of the pre-order ring).
2 pretty decent exotics. (one which was a healing staff which I was gonna buy one, but now I don’t need to)
2 rares that salvaged into zero ectos though.

But I enjoyed the event even though it was quite long and laggy. :/ The final push after all the stupid reinforcement phases was nice. The reinforcement phases and the karkas taking forever to render in was my biggest gripe.

Thanks for sharing, I was going to record some to share with friends that weren’t there, but I realized pretty quickly it wasn’t anything they wouldn’t be able to experience later. I was also a little disappointed with it too for a lack of a better word. I really enjoy the cove and its art style and the monsters and such, but the first big push to take the island I found to be a little too much like everything I’ve been doing in Orr for the last couple of months. Not sure what I expected though, but they sure made it seem like it would be something more. The finale should be of interest though.

That said, I have a decent/good pc (100+ fps all the time with everything maxed, except during this event did I suffer fps at like 10 – and hugely bad culling in terms of the npcs were actually invisible on my screen because of the amount of people) and suffered pretty bad on lag department the entire two events so far. Lets hope it does better today.

Oddly enough, I only lagged in Phase 2 during the DEs when a Karka was around, every other place and area I was totally fine. Till we had to fight a huge Karka. Maybe it partly has something to do with the whole shell thing they have going on, its hard to say.

The amount of downed people from the barrel rolls was highly amusing though. xD

I use the reflect from Earth on staff for these things. It does help a lot, but they still hit quite hard and the reflect is only pretty much once a fight. If you get more then one of the little buggers you might as well run away though. >.< Dodging and staying on the move does help as well, so don’t waste your endurance, so you can get a dodge in on another ranged attack if it happens.

The ranged attack from the young karka make my Ele cry. And I have a ton of vit/toughness. Still hits super hard. :/ Even with reflect and defensive shield, it still can be a pretty close fight if I am unlucky. Nevermind taking on more then one at a time though. lol

On the big dudes though (veterans), some aren’t so bad, actually easier then the young karka. But the ones with the group events..that barrel roll obliterates so many.

Those burrowing worms are terrible as well. Reef dragons can be quite dangerous too. Only thing I don’t have a issue with is the floating dudes (name escapes me atm).

The island is very pretty and someplace I’d like to spend time at. But just the general mobs are extremely dangerous as a solo’er so not sure if I will spend as much time there as I would like. :/

Overall though, I can’t complain too much. Its nice to have a bit of a challenge in a area as compared to the snoozefest of Cursed Shore (only thing hard here was just all the debuffs/snares) and Frostgorge.

Supposedly the items from the chest have a chance to drop in Southsun Cove during the event this weekend. I haven’t heard of anyone getting anything yet though; but now with the island open that may change. I don’t know if that will carry over after the event is over, the description is kind of vague on that (its on the event page on the website that says that).

Only other way to really get it is buy it off the Trading Post and the prices are pretty bad atm.

I’d say your best bet, at least what I am doing, is saving and will be in the Cove most of the weekend to see if something comes out of it. If not, then maybe buy in the future off the TP. Though with really limited supply and the RNG tied to it, I can’t see the prices ever getting reasonable.

And there is no requirement to do Fractals in terms of having to complete anything before it.

I’d say just check back on the forums or in-game a while after the second part starts and see if its worth your time at that point.

I was mostly kinda surprised that 10 of no matter what quality items always = same reward. I put in 3x 10 400 food items (excess crap I have had for a long time – so no huge loss for me) and only received one commedation. That seems quite incorrect considering the low level/simple items give the same reward.

I understand its supposed to be a weekend “item dump” for people to throw excess items they make during the weekend or prior I suppose. But just seems weird it doesn’t scale a little bit.

I didn’t really encounter any issues with the Scavenger’s hunt on Ferguson’s Crossing though. Nobody was bugged, yet.

Were Exotics really not worth it?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

I don’t think Exotics will die out anytime soon if ever. The chance of the actual armor Ascended items to have a rune socket and a infusion socket is slim IMO. Making the armor potentially not worth it in larger areas of pve aka outside of the areas with Agony/dungeon. And most people will still prefer using multiple sets of items for different scenarios.

With the availability of the Ascended tier, people would want multiple sets of Ascended items for different scenarios. That will require a lot of effort to get.

Also, Ascended items have rune socket bonuses built into their base stats. But as a higher tier than exotics, they are always better in terms of stats in a one-to-one direct comparison. This could potentially mean that in order to achieve those combinations that you currently get from exotics + runes, you have to grind a lot to get Ascended items with base stats in the combinations you want.

Yeah, there is no doubt the extra stats that we see are to make up for the loss of gems/runes in the gear. But some rune sets are extremely helpful. But we also have no idea how good or varying the infusions will be (the current ones sound mostly for defense against the condition, but there are omni and offensive ones supposedly as well that we don’t know about). So only time will tell in that regard.

No doubt people will want/need multiple sets of Ascended gear as time goes on though. Especially as more pieces come available. Not many people use just one set of gear for dungeons, so the need of multiple different stat’d pieces is going to be present.

But on the topic, I just don’t think they will die off really quickly. If that was the case, they’d just release all the pieces at once. But them slowly putting in a couple pieces at a time, keeps the value of exotics up still.

Personally I didn’t use exotics for skins. I crafted the two sets I have and wear them accordingly to what I need in terms of rune set/support scenarios. I do have more accessories then armor though, so I do wonder if some of my accessories will be kind of worthless in terms, since majority of them are for dungeon use; a la healing accessories.

I transmuted Tier 3 skin on my main set and I would be kind of disappointed if in the long run I need more transmute stones because my exotics do become subpar (the level 80 ones are pretty rare drop from chests honestly :/). But I don’t think that will be the case; at least anytime in the forseeable future.

There are definitely some exotics with unique skins that I doubt will die out anytime soon. For example, acolyte/seer set or whatever its called.

Now Legendary armors if/when they come out. Thats a whole other chapter to theorize on when it happens.

I though we might probably get one free piece. It might not be as good as what drops. But something people could use pretty quickly in the dungeon if needed. Theres even a chance the events might have the presence of Agony in a low-grade form. But its hard to say. Just speculation on that.

The “exotic” bit from Halloween was the shoes you got from completing the jumping puzzle. At least at this point the jumping puzzles they are putting in don’t go away after the event ends, if they would reward such a thing. But I don’t think we’d be getting it from that, something more event related. Probably after we gain access to the map and learn about the Karka. If at all.

But I’m just going to hope this is the only time they do this, and maybe it won’t be so bad.

The event in itself and the dungeon sounds interesting though.

I look forward to playing with some friends I invited in for this weekend though. They have been asking for it. Sadly I can’t say its all rainbows and sunshine in the whole “gear doesn’t progress further then x” anymore, but I’ll be glad to play with friends.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

That was pretty much my general observation of the post. And I agree with what you would have like to of seen.

Though I understand why they may have wanted another tier in between the two it should of been made more clear long before instead of suddenly leaking out information. And it wasn’t like we heard it from them first, it ended up coming from preview news articles.

Also, I would of rather just liked to see pure Resistance gear sets to collect rather then upgrading base stats. I have nothing against collecting armor to do certain dungeons. If I didn’t want to collect a certain armor I wouldn’t do the dungeon, or vice versa. But the increase in base stats makes the idea more demeaning. If I decide not to get the gear am I hurting my character’s progress, etc.

Also, I’m curious what others think of "Ascended gear has Infusion slots, and rarer versions of the items also come with additional Agony Resistance built into them. " The chance of there being ‘better’ Ascended gear and not purely what they showed us as an example is confusing in itself. Will the stats get better or just the resistance? Let’s hope its just the resistance.

While I agree with you that in reality it wouldn’t be a big deal considering extra gems and runes would be unusable. If it was truly meant to only defend against that one condition then why upgrade the base stats at all? Leave them at exotic stats and use them for resistance reasons, perfectly logical to me. Upgrading the stats just makes it more confusing.

That said, I am more concerned about the fact that “rarer versions of the items also come with additional Agony Resistance built into them,” so there is a chance that the item they showed us in the blog is a low end item. So the stats could be bigger, or not. This is all assumption from what I read in the blog.

Also, yay for obtaining infusions in the mystic forge. /sarcasm

It’s all up in the air at the moment anyways. We shall see.

And while I am disappointed in the whole idea, I don’t think it will prevent me from enjoying the event and the majority of the new content. I’ve already discussed the new gear with the friends I invited to play and they were pretty disappointed as well, mostly because I did mention that the gear progression was pretty laid back in this game. And while it still is in comparison to others, I like it without this new addition

And like Dromar said its probably best to judge what happens after the event rather then the event in itself. After I experience a situation that I need this gear.

But either way, doesn’t mean I am happy about the path GW2 seems to going down, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt for a while longer, even though they say its something we will see again in the future.

Well I just read the blog post, I have to say I did have hope it wouldn’t sound as bad as people made it out to be. I’m still middle of the bridge about it though, but it sounds like they plan to do more of this which is extremely disappointing. Like everyone else I was glad this game didn’t have extensive gear progression and I was fine with its current state and the long “grind” to get a legendary.

But the addition of these items is a little daunting at the moment to me. As I just finished buying second pieces of gear that I thought would be incredibly useful in my dungeon experiences. While they may be for a while to come, the fact that there is better gear I feel like I wasted my money on a slight upgrade because I was misinformed. Oh well, the stats indication on the blog does show only a “slight” stat boost, but in the end it still means the exotic gear you are wearing now or in the future is not the best thing in the game for you.

I’m not one to complain, never have been, but I will admit this falters my views a bit on this game. I’m not going to rage and quit or anything, if it gets really bad then I dunno.

This is a little concerning. It really depends on how much more powerful it is, but it sounds like it will be enough to make ppl go after it. This is more bothering because a lot of people have worked hard for their current Exotics and now theres a chance they are worthless.

It’s also very plausible the gear pertains to that dungeon in itself or Lost Shores area. That really wouldn’t be so bad if it was gear that would really only be useful in that particular dungeon.

We shall see though, it could easily not be as bad as it sounds. Previews always sound really bad.

I dunno about a playable race. I wouldn’t complain, but they seem to be more of the race that you always help or help you from the sidelines.

In compromise we should have a baby/quaggan mini. >.< The corrupted one is pretty meh, and there is a Skritt one. Make it happen Anet. lol

I would like to see fishing added in the future

Why not. Oddly I really enjoy fishing in games. >.> Can’t stand it IRL though.

There is a lot of nice scenery so it would be pretty enjoyable I would think, outside of Orr fishing (I will never fish there ever! lol; the respawns T_T). Would be nice to have something else to do on “exploration” side of things, if it can fall under that.

I do recall them mentioning fishing before, think when people asked if it was tied to cooking. They wanted it to be a separate entity to cooking I believe. Which, either way, it would be interesting to see in the future if it happens.
