Chaos gloves.
And the animated elementalist headgear for Factions.
Apparently I miss shinies? lol
I’d have more urge to work on getting the rest of my stuff for Legendary. At the moment I’m just collecting the stuff as an afterthought.
But at this point with Legendaries being on the Trading Post, I might as well just save entirely for the Legendary itself; which is a total buzzkill.
I think its just been generally assumed. I haven’t read anything stating otherwise and I see no reason why not. I guess a majority of us will find out in August. :x
And I had the same issue in GW1 with remaking characters. Actually I’mpretty sure even in this game I will only have my main that will recieve a gift on the anniversary since I remade my alts A LOT.
Out of the ones we see in game already, Tengu and Kodan. Don’t really have a third choice that I can think of that is actually plausible.
I love Skritt and Quaggan, but I think its best to keep playable race away from them. They have their charm and part of that is their dialogue and character. Seeing someone play as a Skritt or Quaggan may kill their draw or maybe enhance it. But I doubt I will look at Quaggans or Skritt the same way again if I see a ton running around. They should be required to speak only with OooO’s or hive mind. xD
It’s sad that we can’t trust other players to tell the truth about their gear and stats and experience and have to resort to such methods instead.
I’m kind of middle of the road for the whole thing. I have never experienced a bad group because I genuinely felt that the person that was always getting downed had kitten gear/build. I think people should be allowed to play the way they want, and with that they should learn by that experience if their build/gear is not up to par with the way they play or the dungeon or whatever. Different gear/setup works with different playstyles. You don’t have to be BiS or cookie cutter to be good at the game.
Being able to see achievements might be ok. Of course this doesn’t mean they are ‘good’ in order to get the achievements, but it might be a less invasion way to judge peoples ability.
I understand wanting to maybe see someones AR for fractals. But even so, if thats the only dungeon we will ever need the dumb resistance stat in then it doesn’t merit for inspection ability imo.
Saving mine for ascended gear/infusions. Then probably the minis. (That puts me probably till around August if I’m super lazy) After that probably boxes to try to get ectos.
Personally I say keep magic find on food and banners. About the only use for food buffs for a majority of people it seems.
Though I can’t say I’ve experienced a lot of “bad” players because they stack magic find gear. But I do think its a little silly to be a stat combination for gear, but thats just my opinion.
Though I’m not a huge fan of magic find either way. So I just don’t use it outside of food.
Entertaining video.
Personally I’m on the Mystic Clover process and its pretty terrible luck. Not to mention I haven’t got a single rare or ecto since the latest patch. Terrible luck again lol.
He made the PvP badges sound harder then they are…you can get them by killing, but remembering to loot the bags is kind of hard sometimes. Feel it should auto put in your inventory or something. >.< And if you are on a bad WvW server, doing the puzzles probably is easier I would imagine.
Either way, current state of legendaries, even with the multiple outlets of obsidian shards, everything else is painful. Actually the whole process is painful. Gladly I’m just trying to make the pieces out of passing the time, hence why I am on the clovers. Maybe oneday I’ll get somewhere. :P
I’d love fishing. A lot of nice scenery in the game and spending some time fishing would be nice. Depending on what way they decide to put it in.
A farm wouldn’t be bad either, but I dunno how they could apply it. All the existing farms for resources as it is I feel like if they apply a personal farm that you could pick and choose some of the stuff you plant. Would kill out the whole exploring for patches during your adventure.
Was kind of a hard choice to be honest, but I’ll be going with the majority and get amulet first. Then infusion.
Both minis are quite enticing though. But not really needed atm. I still <3 my gryphon.
Usually can find quite a few people getting downed during Temple events, especially during the champion abomination event in Orr. He just plows through a ton of people, and lots of people to res. That or exploding chickens, never fails.
I don’t see anything wrong with ressing NPCs. Its easier then finding players and hoping they are bad or have people purposely kill themselves or down themselves. Plenty of hearts allow NPC ressing for completion, why not dailies. That and always a ton of NPCs are dead somewhere.
I think its capable to get through natural playing, but its one of the things you have to kind of keep a look out for. Same thing with dodging one, kind of have to keep an active mindset that you should be dodging when it counts as evade, as opposed to early dodging or just generally moving out of the AoE. Either one can be done normally, just sometimes quicker if you are actively looking for it.
As far as ressing people after I finish my daily. If a lot of people around that are actively ressing I won’t, just because of the daily and I don’t want to take anyones attempt away if they need one. But I will help every chance I get. If its a really big event with a lot of people, and players are regularly getting res capped then I just let everyone else do it.

I haven’t noticed any visible signs of it remaining running after closing. No errors in game or when closing or anything. But it does appear in my task manager and appears to still use a lot of processing. I really only looked when I was having serious hanging up issues in another game I was playing and noticed that gw2.exe was still running.
I find the psychology behind this tendency to roll humans fascinating. They have always been my least favorite race in practically any game, fantasy or sci-fi. I just find them intensely boring, plus they are always the sort of ‘neutral ground’ in every game.
With regards to being privileged by Arenanet, I just think it’s a lot easier for them to design for humans than the other classes, which are very particular. Humans can pull off just about any outfit, plus they share the same basic body structure as Norn so the models immediately work for both races. Sylvari get the short end of the stick because they just look awful in any human apparel.
I’m also one of those people that avoid Human models (more so, just the basic human race then the form) in fantasy games. If I have a choice to be something different then a human I will take it. I will also pick anything out of the ordinary class wise. Well, out of the ordinary as in, something that does not exist in reality (ie. magic, etc.). Personally I have one of everything, but I can barely stand playing my human alt out of, well, it feels too common. In GW1 you were human regardless obviously, but you were different races of human which actually was a pretty nice difference for once.
I would of loved to of seen low level armors 1 – 80 or at least as long as you are in their zones that was relatable to the races. I understand its hard to do such a thing and takes a lot of resources. But its pretty alienating to play something other then a human character if everything is clipping or looks clownish or just not right on your character. Main reason I gravitated so quickly to getting the Tier armor I loved for my Sylvari when I got 80. My Sylvari now looks comfortable and natural. xD
I can see why a ton of people prefer Humans/human forms though. Human and Norn are the easiest to associate with and all the psychology stuff. And a lot of people honestly don’t care for fancy stuff or cosmetics and will honestly gravitate towards Human races out of nature.
The density wasn’t so much the issue imo as was the CC/snare effects. Now the snares seem to fail a lot for the poor things. The underwater one is still a pain, but haven’t seen them very much either.
Overall I think its quite ok, its definitely easier. Sadly it makes Lost Shores zone even more hard in comparison (I know this will be looked into later).
I think the upgrades to the temple fights are a quite a nice touch. Made them a little harder in some temples, but I like it. I think it makes up for the zone generally being easier.
Its definitely a step in the right direction considering, if you look at the amount of people that have now come back to Orr or even bother with Orr now it is quite fun. If the normal mobs and events are better and enjoyable (and travelling easier), then there is more people around when the temple events come up to participate. Which is always a good thing.
Your best bet is to try to get on quickly after the servers change what map you own for WvW before they get captured. But it is still pretty hard. :/ Just gotta stick with it and check back often or participate quite a bit.
Biggest issue I had with participating, was when I needed like 2 little spots left in the corners, no fights or anything ever even gravitated towards those areas. :S Was kinda annoying.
Eventually I just broke bad and beelined towards the areas I last needed and said screw helping. I’m not sure if this mentality is what ANet wanted or not, but it sure seems to bring it, with exploration and jumping puzzles.
I thought it all looked pretty decent (better then in the past so far). But I’m not much of a dungeon-goer anymore so that one is out for me.
I will also be looking forward to the pick and choose option in the future. I haven’t gotten many monthlies done in the past due to either too many dungeon requirements or WvW that I don’t feel like doing.
Anyways, I feel it is a step in the right direction at least. Not complaining though, I never expect to actually finish a daily in their current states lately anyways. If I do it will be a big surprise. :P
And dailies reset around an hour ago, so monthlies roll over then too. Since dailies and stuff are pretty much a day ahead when they roll over in the evening 4pm PST.
(edited by Katreyn.4218)
I considered doing this when I saw the daily. But in reality it was easier to find some npcs or do a big event then suiciding myself with a friend. But whatever works for them. These kinds of dailies make for farming techniques. Whatever is quickest for them, people will gravitate towards.
I find its easier just to do an event in Orr that involves exploding chickens…since quite a few people don’t move away from the chickens. :x
Underwater combat is pretty ‘ok’ for me. Though it takes some getting used to, and it can be quite a lot more dangerous then on land obviously.
Biggest factors for me that hurt me in underwater combat was 1) it breaks rune sets if your aqua breather doesn’t have a rune, if you use max 6 slot bonus. 2) underwater gear tends to seriously be out of level if you don’t make sure to keep it up. Can only get aqua breathers from karma vendors that I know of. And that there is nothing better then masterwork for level 80.
Most attacks for a lot of classes are AoE, which while helpful can also be dangerous. I find it pretty fun though. Mostly on my Ele. While I hated it at first, it got a lot better once we got whirlwind elite. I really like Rangers underwater combat too, Engi isn’t bad either with Speargun.
I’d say, yes allow moving and rescaling of the UI, and maybe allow other graphical designs of the layout that may better appease others.
But I see no reason to allow addons to be honest. Other then some people just really hate a lot of standard UI designs in any game or want to see more numbers on their character panel or something. I see no reason to allow addons with what we work with so far. We know when we have aggro, we know when we are dying, we know when others are dying in our group or outside, we know when others are getting their butt kicked cause they keep getting one shot by some boss, we know when we need to move out of an AoE attack. Just from my personal pov I see nothing we need add-ons for.
But yes, I will agree that the UI should probably allow alterations with its design. Most MMOs have this nowadays, and I see no reason to not have it. If it makes a person enjoy the game more it should be there.
I thought it was cute…but I wanted that 10k~ karma (was it 10k? I don’t even remember) to waste on Orr jewelery boxes…it was worth it. :x
Heavy Moldy bag drops have been really high for me. Getting at least 10 during any DE that requires waves, ie. Defending Jorfast. Outside of bag crafting materials seems about moderate as well. Still decent amount of bones. The drops out of the bags have been pretty hearty imo. Lots of Gossamer and powerful blood.
Greens have been about the same. Got one yellow in the past two days. Lots of blues.
Overall, it seems better so far to me. But its only been two days. I could just be really lucky. Combined with I think the DEs go off more often so the drop rate chances increase.
They still have some CC. I’ve had the Putrifiers fail a lot of their initial pulls, not sure what it is, maybe I move behind something and that cancels it, they still get knocked down even if it fails though. The water ones still have that drag/anchor thing too.
I was kind of middle of the road with Orr before. After I saw Southsun Cove, I decided Orr was no where near hard. :P I find the drop rate increase (which has been very kind to me for tier 6 mats) and the changed temple fights make up for the thinning out of the numbers imo.
No.
I think 80 is fine already. Any more and it just gets daunting for newer players. Easy or not. When someone new sees the max level is 90 – 100 they tend to go the other way. I’d rather keep the level range as is and get new level 80 content.
Have nothing against potentially new skills/weapons/classes though. I’d take all that over levels.
The increased moldy bag drops in Orr and just general Orr changes have made it quite more enjoyable. Only issue I’d say I have is the Grenth boss fight seems very broken. The Melandru one took quite a while, like 4 or 5 phases of killing acolytes. Not sure if they were intended to heal him so much, but it is doable. And was quite fun actually.
As far as dailies go, I do think the ones that require like resurrecting people needs to be looked at a bit more. Maybe consider NPCs into the equation. It’s pretty rare to find a lot of people to res unless doing a boss fight, then there are plenty. But if everyone has the same daily, people are going to probably beeline for ressing people before anything else. Just something to consider.
As far as dodging and combos, I am kind of middle of the road. It’s hard to get credit for combo kills for some people. Some classes obviously have it a lot easier. Dodging is a little odd, it just doesn’t seem to credit as often as it should or something. And obviously ranged classes don’t have to use dodge as much. I had to go out of my way on Ele to find some stuff to dodge. Something to look at as well.
I actually kinda like the mini chest for unique loot. It can be quite easy to miss the sparkles in some bigger events. So the box makes it stand out a bit more once the bodies clear a bit. And the jewelry boxes are nice touch and a welcome addition.
And I think the prices for Laurel items are pretty good. I will appreciate if they stay at that price (as in don’t make them more expensive). 4 months I can deal with to get my ascended items .
I was wondering what happened. Everyone just literally fell through the world then the sky and then everyone was dead :S Quite strange indeed.
Wow, yay! Didn’t even bother to check this patch. Thanks a lot ANet, my Ele feels whole again. xD
You know, I’ve been purposely trying to get ruined ore while leveling up a new character. Just to see if the same thing happens in low level zones, then I would accept it as intended. :/ But it doesn’t. I’ve mined tons of low level ore on a appropriately leveled character for the zone with one or two mobs attacking me(sometimes even interrupting me) and I haven’t got ruined ore.
But I can go to Orr and find one lonesome Ori vein with no monsters around and still fail with an Ori pick. It’s really annoying considering almost every time I find an Ori vein anymore I 70% of the time fail to get any ore from it. Really weird. I usually do re-equip my picks after I notice it. Sometimes it may fail again, other times all things go smoothly after that. Maybe I’m just unlucky or get mysteriously stuck in combat somehow (it’s happened before >.<).
Unless it offers something I really want to do or experience I highly doubt it.
In its current state I am constantly questioning if I am enjoying my time in game. :/ While there are plenty of things that I do like, there is more of a constant state of unknowing with bugs and things that have yet to be fixed since release. If they don’t fix it before another expansion, the chances of them ever fixing it is slim. And thats disappointing to me and quite a turn off.
Not to mention if they add more levels to the current game I’ll probably just give up after that entirely. Nothing against leveling, and 5 – 10 more levels isn’t a huge deal. But I enjoyed GW1 because I knew I could step away for a couple months, come back, and still be in the same place. So far in GW2 its kind of the same, except for ascended gear, which can be ignored if you really don’t want to bother getting it. If more levels are added I’ll probably just decide to place my time elsewhere is all. Getting older does that to you.
I mostly worry that classes that currently struggle will be hindered more by the change (maybe struggle is the wrong word for that, maybe subpar I guess). Though I can kind of see where the nerf is coming from a little bit.
That said, if I still enjoy my character/class enough a "nerf " usually doesn’t stop me. Unless it makes it entirely unplayable. Which I don’t think will happen, but who knows. If anything my current build will become a less desirable one and everyone will find some new cookie-cutter build/class to play.
I’m not one to complain about nerfs, but they do scare me. :P Usually they turn out not as bad as they sound, but considering this is probably one of the first serious nerfs that has affected me in gw2 I am a little nervous of how that will go.
I would probably prefer a weekly as opposed to a daily if I had a choice. Monthly isn’t a huge deal in its current state and easy to knock out in a week or two without trying if its not tied to timed events. I’d love to knock out a weekly achievement on a weekend or something instead of trying to find time every day, but its not a huge deal. Knowing me if its not much more time consuming then dailies currently are I can find the time.
To be honest I doubt we will be missing too much if we miss days, one laurel probably.
I think it may potentially be good. Considering the items we may be able to get along with the new ascended pieces it will be a nice daily go-to task. Something to get people to log in every day. From what it sounds like, it sounds like something I could get into. But I imagine the rewards outside of the ascended stuff is just fluff, didn’t see much in the screenshot they showed before except a mini pet and some boxes.
I just hope they don’t require daily dungeons every day or anything too seriously time consuming. We shall see. I don’t mind jumping puzzles, and other solo things. I like the tasks we get already for dailies, so I hope they remain. >.< Dailies should be able to be completed solo imo.
I also hope they get rid of WvW for the monthly pve achievements. That bugs me so much worse then anything else. Especially since they made a pvp monthly.
I honestly think there should of been an answer instead of all of the above, for pve exploration/open world events. Because honestly I very rarely do dungeons in their current state.
So I had to opt for PvE open world events as my majority. Since I guess that is what my majority of time is spent on. :P
I think Necro. Necro is okay, but not many good builds (only thing I found remotely useful was well build, obviously). And a lot of things seem to work incorrectly, moreso minions are not so good, they go off and aggro stuff on their own and die or make me have to kill it. >.<
I find my Ele pretty good, but I will agree that Eles are super squishy in the surviviability department and you have to make the choice of gearing out in defensive or being even more squishy. I feel I survive pretty good though with the array of stuff given to us. But not the best. I feel its expected with the class personally, but even as staff build I feel like I am not near the same level as others, even with my poor defense.
(edited by Katreyn.4218)
As someone who loves my staff Ele and Necro. I use those skills in PvE because they are the best to control situations for my squishy characters. That and the other weapons do not appeal to me very well. But generally in PvE its pretty rare to fight one mob at a time. And having the ability to control a situation in the chance of multiple enemies is what I want to have (and do). As far as damage goes I can’t say I do any extreme damage. I’ve seen many single-target players kill stuff way faster then me. Because they barely need to kite and do more damage.
But I will agree that there is something wrong with AoE when it comes to tagging loot during events. But even being an AoE user myself I can get out AoE’d by others as well. But I feel terrible for melee’rs in such situations. Thats why I don’t mind being in groups during such events since it seems to help others in the loot department.
As far as PvP, I don’t do it much. But I have seen plenty of people just stand in my Lava Font during huge zerg rushes and not even try to move. I mean, I get a majority of my kills from dumb stuff like that. But is it really the AoEs fault or the player in that regard? I understand its impossible to deal with something that covers the ground that an enemy have to get through to get to you (if they are melee). But it still seems it is needed to a degree. You are not going to go in gung-ho meleeing when there is a 20+ person horde opposing you. You are going to throw grenades or something.
Obviously I don’t want to see what I find the best use for my class (Ele). But I will recognize there is some issues, but it is a very sensitive area imo. But whatever happens happens I guess. >.<
As far as chatty its hard to tell for me really. But Lion’s arch and the starting areas seem to still have a pretty large amount of conversation going on. With the Fractal dungeon in LA though it leads to mostly dungeon lfg spam and overflow there, which could hinder conversation. On my server Nord starting area is like troll city.
The Fractal dungeon is the only dungeon they’ve added recently to the “end game” and the ascended gear items you can acquire (you don’t necessarily need, but if you are completionist/need something to grind for/like doing doing dungeons it is good). With that we got the Lost Shores area that you can get to from LA (theres a boat you can take in LA), and its just another level 80 zone with new enemies (the difficulty is pretty high compared to the reward imo).
But I guess you know most of that already if you’ve only been gone about a month. xD
I did it quite some time ago. Around October. And got the pop-up confirmation. I don’t think there is any way to check it in your achievement list after unlocking it though. Which makes for more confusion. I recall because I was disappointed the organ in the last building didn’t work anymore.
People have been saying it hasn’t been working recently though. Maybe something broke.
Only MMO I’ve had a house in is in Aion. And only reason I liked it, was because a) i could store excess stuff there outside of bank storage and b) it gave you a exp buff when you logged out there. I never really got far enough into the harvesting plant aspect that it had there, so not sure what that was about.
I don’t really think we need it (wouldn’t complain if we got it though), but I would like to see them make more use of the home instance. It is pretty bare bones and would like to see it change a little bit. As far as the Sylvari one all I have is the quaggan hanging out in the pool there. Only thing that is different since finishing the main story. Overall, you have no reason to ever go in there other then for the main story quest line. And even that comes to an end after the first part of the story.
Kaliyanei (Sylvari Ele)- Cambodian for beautiful. And I just like how it flows when I type it and it can be shortened easily for others trying to address me.
Ironically, my Human Necro means flower (in Khmer as well), Sinoun. xD
As far as Katreyn (also the name of my Human Guardian), I really don’t recall where it came from. One day I was trying to come up with a new nickname/username, and I had a friend that always purposely botched my name when sending me texts and talking to me, just to annoy me. And it kind of morphed from that.
I end up doing the majority on a alt. Usually one freshly started. I have the best luck in the Norn starting area. Events seem to go off quite frequently there.
Then I try to switch to my main for the last 2 kills or something for the extra money. It’s just quicker this way. And Orr doesn’t really offer the kill variety you need, which is always the hardest to get for me. >.<
I enjoyed this mini game. Though I also enjoyed the other ones as well. Probably enjoyed Choir Bell one the best. Like most of the holiday mini games we’ve seen in the past two holidays. I think they are enjoyed sparingly and not in giant chunks.
Toypocalypse is pretty simple and easy. But it can be very long, that I will agree with. But it amused me to see stuff instantly spawn and die. >.> Revenge for all those horrible massacres on my alts on opening presents in the game world.
I bought one and it hasn’t come in through mail, isn’t in my inventory, yet I lost my gems. Am I missing something? Thanks to anyone who knows
Try deleting some of your mails. Usually why mine gets back up.
Did you happen to “Deposit all collectibles?” It gets deposited into your collections tab if you do that. Can get around it by putting your mini in a invisible bag.
edit: beaten to it. xD
Poor little Golem was a little underwhelming compared to Griffon. Kinda amusing that almost everyone in LA with a mini pet has a Griffon out. xD
And obligatory squee notsofantastic screenshot.
Edit: updated to better picture but it doesn’t seem to update quickly. :P
(edited by Katreyn.4218)
Ours was kinda different then yours.
Starting one was to get presents for dolls.
Turret one was to take out charr mortars.
Had 2x Gryphon ones (protect dolls and destroy nests).
Then had the usual defend Ventari and toy soldier waves.
Oh and paint dolls.
Seems it is random. O.o Didn’t have any overlapping today. But boy was the mobs hitting hard today for some reason.
Indeed. I was already deciding to make one. Made Ventari yesterday, so gotta wait for Gryphon tomorrow, glad it is as cute as I imagined. xD
It should be noted cogs max out on stacking at 250..so today you would get 100, and get 50 in one stack and then 50 to existing stack to make 250.
I have enjoyed it, I think there is enough to tide people over, and after the 20th it sounds like the Toypocalypse thing should be quite interesting. The minigames are entertaining and pretty applicable for everyone. Have to say ANet knows how to make interesting minigames (something a lot of MMOs seem to struggle with).
Sure there is a lot of stuff to get in the cashshop, but its not too bad (aside from the pets – but we get 2 free pets from the dungeons so I’d say it evens out in the end :/).
I’m glad there isn’t really any time sensitive events occuring though. Though Halloween didn’t have many, it still caused some issues. And the Lost Shores thing was a disaster. I’m glad they decided to give a big pool of time for people to participate.
My friend showed me this lol. So funny. Kudos to those who recognize the reference.
Wow, thats awesome. xD Sailor Moon ftw.
On topic, I love the wand. Got one for my Mesmer, its quite fitting. Got the slingshot too in hopes one day I make a character that will use a shortbow.
I feel like they are just adding new waves to the existing waves. Which makes it longer, but it does feel a lot of the same. At least they changed the Toxx fight up a bit.
Though I did find it odd that the malfunctioning turret section and the toy soldier waves were at the same time.
Though honestly because they have such large groups of monsters now (a la toy soldiers) I actually get dropped loot now. Got one Giant Present today. Still haven’t got anything but crap out of the chest at the end. :/ Always blues or one green and blues. Can’t complain though, got my toy Ventari today. Now to hold out for the Gryphon.
