The running through thing is kind of sad, but inevitable. Thats all I can really say on it. Its to be expected from MMO players, especially in content like this. But you do need to take a look at your map/enemies if you see your players avoiding stopping to kill stuff or res other players. I can only see that as there is something wrong in that area that is forcing players to ignore them. Personally I do think there IS a lot of stuff going on, lots of DoTs and exploding things that can almost one shot you, lots of enemies, etc. It can be quite hard to res someone if they die in a bad spot. Especially if most people don’t stop to help.

I think the difficulty of the tower is fine, if you have at least 6 or so competent people. Floor 3 can overwhelm a small group though despite smaller groups being able to make it to floor 3 easily. Events and the champ events difficulty are good imo.

I do feel bad for any of the people that won’t be able to mess with the tower within this first week though. I know I won’t be going back, at least not a lot. Even though I enjoyed it. I finished everything and have no reason to want to go back. But this just brings the other issue into play that we have been seeing a lot with these “zerg”/group focused LS lately. The masses dwindle down increasingly fast after everyone gets their first taste/finishes meta. I don’t know how exactly they could fix this, other then providing more reward to continue to spend time there for 2 weeks in order to draw people into staying.

People avoid the fights because of the massive HP pool combined with very fast respawn. So what if you clear an area? You’re not really going to help anyone. It will be repopulated before you turn the next corner. People will catch on to that sort of futile situations very quickly.

As for keeping people there how about actually having things worth getting? Since all the new stuff to get are bought with gems the place to be is whatever gets you the most gold. A place filled with people dropping trains on you, mobs with excessive HP and CC spam is not an ideal place to farm gold. The only reason to be there is either because you are not done yet, you are helping a friend or you are grinding keys in hopes of getting something good from the chest.

I totally agree with you on both points I have to say.

I didn’t mention the respawn because even though I had a serious issue with it the first day (and ‘complained’ about it). The bit I played today it seemed a bit better, but mostly because I had the luck of getting people that actually tried to group up. The HP pool is definitely a issue as well. Considering that a group of 5 can’t even kill one of the elites before you get respawns. So the chance of getting stuck in a area for a long time is very high if you are trying to kill your way through. Its usually thin down the numbers/kill stuff to res someone and keep hauling kitten .

CC spam has been hated on since launch Orr days. I always wonder why they try to use it so much in combination with already annoying things. Cause it sure as hell doesn’t stop people from running…obviously.

Rewards wise. All I can say is I am in total agreement.

I think that they did pretty good with this patch in comparison to past ones. But it still suffers from some of what I perceive as flaws that have existed for a while now.

But I think the instances are quite good. Good to have the option to solo or group. I thought the final dungeon was a decent balance. Though I did it with a group once and I thought the boss just had too much HP in comparison. Felt like it took at least 2 or 3 more minutes then me just soloing him. Chambers were really good though, but the champion knights also seemed to suffer from the massive hp pool when in groups.

I like the tower and the open world dungeon idea. I really do. I just hate to see it bringing out a lot of the flaws though of the setup. Overflow is a issue, mostly a issue as in, you go into a chamber for a bit, come out and in a different overflow entirely then before, so you are potentially forced to try for another overflow or wait. Of course running in a group you can at least attempt to meet up if you get separated after a chamber. And a group has a lot better chances to continue pushing through then a solo.

The running through thing is kind of sad, but inevitable. Thats all I can really say on it. Its to be expected from MMO players, especially in content like this. I struggled the most in the Molten Alliance room just because of the stupid protector’s fire protection and the stomping brawlers are annoying as balls, but I managed to run around like a chicken long enough to get back in control of that fight.

That was the one with the portals? In the first dungeon with Kasmeer and Majory I had a bit trouble when there were like 8 or 9 mobs and 3 of them vets… cause I killt that portals too fast and thought the mobs also would disappear(maybe you can go to the next room with them stopping following at some place)?

Or is ist better to kill few mobs then destroy the portal, then next few mobs, then next portal? (if they don’t respawn as long as portal is open? – or do they respawn / spawn more? then I’ll just fast kill the portals).

Its definitely tricky if you are doing AoE damage I feel. I took down the first two portals then tried to thin down the enemies a bit before finishing off the third one. But if they are open other mobs will continue to spawn so its really more of a factor of trying to clean it up a bit before the big guys spawn (which I think the vets come out of the last portal only, don’t recall exactly).

I also wondered if running out of the room they would stop following you. But I don’t think aggro leashes exist in dungeons. I could be wrong. I never really do the shortcut runs or anything in normal dungeons so I don’t really have any experience in skipping mobs in such a way. :/

Can that last 2 hybrid killer achievements also be soloed? (without dying)? When I tried entering 2nd time it seems there was a different dungeon version very similar but without Kasmeer and Majory(which probably makes it harder).

Also: Is in that 2nd dungeon version it still possible to get that other diver achievement? Read you need to exit the instance after killing the boss and did that in the 1st version with Majory and Kasmeer but new build reset me at entrance after relogging… instead of near another diving google where it should have spawned me according to Dulfy guide.

I was able to solo the dungeon perfectly fine the second time on my Staff Ele (i honestly expected it to be a lot harder). Pretty much 50/50 on PVT/Zerker gear. It has a few differences then the first, but nothing is particularly harder. Just you might have more aggro since Kasmeer/Marjory isn’t there to take some of the adds off of you (which is still the usual 3 or 4). But overall its pretty much the same instance.

I struggled the most in the Molten Alliance room just because of the stupid protector’s fire protection and the stomping brawlers are annoying as balls, but I managed to run around like a chicken long enough to get back in control of that fight.

Boss is ridiculously simple though. He really hits for nothing and quite slow. :S

As for the diver achieve, just after you finish the dungeon on either mode a portal opens up to the side and you can walk outside to the dive point.

It is sad how a group of 5 people can’t reliably make it very far. The elites just take so long to kill that generally the respawns are up before you down them.

But you have pretty much described the experience I’ve had so far. The lower floors are pretty easy to solo run through to the chambers and such. But doing that is just asking to drag mobs onto a person. :/ I really had no trouble till up to the 4th floor where I ended up in an overflow after a chamber where no one had gotten as far as me. So I had to pretty much wait for everyone to catch up.

I’m holding out hope it will be better later in the evening/weekend. But that doesn’t make the problem any better.

Edit: Well after relogging enough I managed to get through the last little area to the top. :S That was kind of sad I had to run and leave so many people behind. It seems too impossible for my server to get past the beginning in floor 3 lol. That and no one bothers to wait for a group to form so people are just rushing through.

I really like the dungeon and chambers though. And its quite fun to do if you get a good group to get through the areas.

do u want activities glory & rank to stay?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

I kind of like it really. I mean if they are going to be putting in boxes for LS stuff to buy with glory that you can’t get anywhere else like they did with the Toxic boxes they might as well let everyone generate a little currency.

I can totally understand why they would want to remove it as well if they deem so. But some of the more PvP-like activities should keep it. I mean, Inquisition was reasonable, Keg Brawl and Crab toss seems reasonable as well. Even Sanctum Sprint seems fine if you compare it to those since it all truly is against other players.

Edit: But yeah, as far as I can tell it doesn’t actually progress you through ranks. I’ve gone through the rabbit bar 3 times now and haven’t changed. Though I’m not entirely sure how much it takes to rank up.

Importance of End Game (scale 1-10)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

Thats a toughie really. But since I’m pretty neutral to the whole thing a even 5/10 seems accurate.

I don’t mind dungeons, but I don’t care for them. I do them sometimes, but I definitely don’t want to do them all the time. Same goes for anything that could be considered “raid” like Tequatl. Only because I just don’t care anymore these days for the effort of a designated planned confrontation that requires large amount of people. I don’t mind the open world bosses. But the daily grind of them can get kind of boring, so I usually dip out of that after a week or so for a break.

What I would like to see though: More Dragons (open world preferably, but dungeons like Zhaitan is probably more likely), more personal story, just more general lore addition that is stronger then the current LS and more exploration stuff (jp, mini dungeons, scavenger hunts, etc). There is plenty more to be offered, but it is a question of when, if ever, it will occur.

I’ve just generally never been much about the typical end game that most MMOs offer. Was never for me. So I am pretty content with the current GW2 trend…I say content but not satisfied, there are plenty of issues with the current trend as well. But that is for another thread.

When does this end?

It ends on the 11th I think they’ve said. But I would said technically the patch will be removed on maintenance on the 12th.

But if you are doing dailies there probably won’t be a daily on the Monday evening before the 12th since dailies are always a day ahead. At least that is how the dailies have worked for the past couple of updates.

Good luck.

Getting Artificer to 500

Theres no “cheap” way as far as I know. After a certain point even refining Ascended materials gives no progress. Then you are pigeonholed into crafting exotics (discovering provides the most significant bonus) up to 500.

Some tier 6 materials are a little cheaper then others. But chances are you are going to have to discover/make a lot to get through to 500 (for me it felt like I made everything at least once, even had to get some karka shells). Just look at mats required for certain items and decide which is cheaper to make for you.

That sounds right. Mine started a couple of patches ago out of no where as well. But I just changed the shaders and never looked back.

Actually it was right around when they updated the particle effects and I thought maybe that it had altered the lighting in the game entirely. Because everything did look different. Strange that it seems to be random or something. It does feel unintended though, since no official screenshots or most other peoples screens never have that glare.

I had this issue for a while. And took me a while to figure out what it was. I pretty much figured out it was a graphics issue. It was either postprocessing or some kind of lighting/texture issue was set to high and looked horrible with that strange glare. Once I changed it down to lower then high it worked fine.

I wish I could tell you what it exactly was but my video card died recently and I haven’t been able to get that computer back up and running to play again yet, so I can’t distinctly tell you what it was I changed. Just try messing with your graphics settings a bit and see if it helps. It literally took me a month to finally figure it out, I felt pretty silly considering graphics options was the first place I looked. :P

I’m sure its dungeon-esque. But it does sound more like a Gauntlet then anything. Could just be poor wording. Then again it could easily be another Fractals with a different art design.

I’d rather see another MF over another TA/Aetherblade dungeon. Just because in LS situations it brings in a lot of people that don’t normally dungeon. I think MF was better difficulty wise, it was learn-able and not overly long.

Will be interested to see what comes of it in a week though.

Style for Elementalist

in Sylvari

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

My Ele is very earth toned. Light brownish/green. Hair and armor is dark green/brown. Her favorite element is earth element so I use the brown headgear gem still and tier 3 cultural dyed to match her hair. Also has bright green eyes and bright green glow (I can’t see making bright eyes and glow a different color, in my opinion, since the glow both comes from within). Personally I probably went the tame typical route, but I don’t see many go with “natural” colors in terms of grass or basic plants.

I’ve seen a lot with bright colors and a mix. The good thing with an Ele is you can be really bright/colorful for the class, especially on a Sylvari. All depends on how you want to design it. If you are going the fire route you do have a bit of options with reds/oranges/yellows though. I’d say it would look less strange if you matched the eyes personally. All up to you though.

As far as the Ele changes I think they sound like the right direction. Allowing people to still get the weapon traits in the Arcane tree and reducing the cooldown of attunement changing to make it more manageable without speccing purely into 30 Arcane is very nice. This was definitely my biggest want in change for Ele in terms of trait changes for a long time, as I’m sure it was others.

I became very used to max Arcane and some of the Traits so I will definitely be looking forward to seeing how I can change my Trait set up now though.

Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

Posted by: Katreyn.4218

Katreyn.4218

Since most areas of discussion I would have liked to hear words on have already been addressed by my fellow players I don’t really have much to add in that area.

But on the topic of favorite and least favorite of the past LS I would like to share my thoughts.

Favorite:
Flame & Frost: It felt well rounded. Sure the beginning was slow, but it had lead up and time for the player to wonder what is happening/going to come next. It wasn’t as quickly paced as we experience now. I also liked that the dungeon was doable by almost any group of randoms. Nothing was exponentially hard (like Aetherblade dungeon was in terms of general difficulty for the average player — you also have to account for people being upscaled for this temporary content) for some players, etc. And sure there was some “farm-y” aspects to the beginning portions of the achievements, that is probably the biggest issue I had with the event.

Least Favorite:
Tequalt Rising: The thought was in the right place, but this idea falls flat if you were not on a heavily populated server. During the first week my server “tried” and I put that term loosely but never made much progress. After that first week it was abandoned. And to much of my knowledge no one even really bothers with it even if people try to plan it, just because people have been that dejected over the initial release. At peak time for boss encounters my server usually has the same 20 or so people running them. During the Scarlet events it took almost full effort from every 80 on the server to manage a success because otherwise we were undermanned. I just think scaling should be taken more into account. A lot of people can’t play at peak times or some servers are not as big as others; sure they can guest, but thats just avoiding the issue at hand. It just needs to be taken into account that accounting for always big groups isn’t going to work for everything. I think the mechanics and everything of Tequatl fight could work and still provide difficulty if scaled down for smaller groups but actually be possible.

My dyes have changed?

Katreyn.4218

I figured I’d just post some thoughts on what I feel it is I dislike about the current rendition of Tier 3 Light armor since I have had some time to sit on it and time to modify my dye scheme to make it even remotely close to what I had. Just some things I feel I should point out that. I mean no harsh criticism at all, I am just purely expressing what I see on the current rendition.

Biggest issue in my opinion is that it looks like the Legs for Tier 3 light do not even match within themselves anymore. Tier 3 Light has always had the hardened almost metallic leaf element on the Legs and Shoulders leaving a VERY shiny appearance, they have always been this way, and was never a big issue to me as it just looked like it may have been some natural “armor.” It also did not stand out very badly because the armor in itself was already waxy and shiny. Now the legs in the front have lost all the shiny/waxy appearance. The backside is still shiny. The front does not look like the back at all; at least the back still looks like it could be a leaf. The front looks like I’m wearing cloth under some leaf like apparel. It just makes little sense to me that a armor piece would actual lose the ability to match with the existing armor on the attached piece. It almost feels like a mistake.

The other big issue I have is that if you can’t match the armors glow with your Sylvari’s natural glow there is a terrible clipping seam issue going on with the lower spinal column that naturally glows on a female Sylvari. Then the sprouting veins of the armor start glowing and they don’t match and you can see it is actually clipping the spinal column (and this looks grossly unnatural). This is I think more of a issue of not being able to directly control the glow of the armor in itself then something that can be fixed with the minor clipping.

Now I don’t doubt that the new change looks great on some armors. Medium seems to have benefited from it. Just want to express what I feel maybe should be looked into in terms of the light armor.

I won’t go into the old dye scheme of the way colors worked because I think that issue has been brought up enough as is. I personally loved it, having that little bit of red fade into my green, it just worked quite naturally. But thats another discussion in itself that I don’t feel the need to go rambling on about (I will say that I do miss it though).

Katreyn.4218

I would also pay real money just to revert this for my Sylvari. I can’t find a single dye that even resembles what I used to have going. I can’t believe that someone would actually get rid of the good existing textures to change it to this washed out textureless mess. With no warning towards players at all. It is a significant change.

Pictures (Before & After patch). Been using Grass and Fern dye. I can’t even get a similar “glow” on the armor without changing the armor to some super bright color since my sylvari glows a bright green.

I understand people wanted Glow. I never really cared either way if the armor had glow or not. The thought never crossed my mind that the armor would have to be practically downgraded in design in order to achieve glow. So disappointed.

Edit: Just want to say since I am afraid I may have come off more harshly then I intended (I was quite disappointed by this) but I appreciate the effort that has gone into giving Sylvari armor more customization. And I think it would be great if it was offered as another armor set or alternative version. I just feel that after a year its about too long to greatly change an existing armor piece. It is actually a year this month that I have owned my tier 3 set so I am quite attached to its old style.

But what is the point of having to dye the main pannel of the armor in order to match the character glow? Couldn’t the armor glow just match the glow of the character (not the skin)? Now the glow is affected by the skin or the main color WHICH MAKES ME to change my color into that, and I hate it. This is painful

My thoughts exactly. Why are we dying the actual armor color instead of a seperate dye channel for glow, or make it tied to the Sylvari glow in general similar to the way Nightmare armor worked.

They made it dye the same way the nightmare armor glows here my syvari has nightmares pants and t3 chest they glow the same no with the same dye pannles filed in here is a before and after pic

Ah wasnt entirely sure how Nightmare armor dyed exactly. I thought it went off the skin tone, may have confused it with something else. Sorry for the false information.

Yeah its pretty devastating. I really hope its a bug. My Syvlari’s armor looks hideous now. All the texture gone and everything. And its really only the front side that is affected.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/29-10-dyes-on-sylvari-female-t3-light-changed/first#post3114381

Edit…wait so in order to add glow they had to remove so much of the design? T_T thats really sad.

I’d honestly prefer no glow over the current state. Couldn’t you make two sets of the same armors. One that glows and one that doesn’t. I understand people wanted glow but I find it very sad that it would alter the existing armor so strongly in order to add glow.

Not to mention I can’t seem to find a dye that even dyes close to my glow. Why isn’t the glow a separate channel entirely? I shouldn’t have to change my armor color because I want my dye a different color.

I’m not one to complain but this has truly zapped any fun I was having away today. I really loved my Sylvari the way she was and put a lot of effort into her matching nicely and everything and now its all gone. With no warning or anything.

I sometimes do A and sometimes do B. But usually I tend to just A for the time being since the other option for me is waiting around for boss timers. That and dailies usually reset so late its hard for me to put a lot of effort into it.

Then there are some days I just don’t care to finish dailies so I just do whatever I want. Which describes what I have been doing for the past week.

Nightmare before Christmas.

Christmas wasn’t too bad last year. They learned a bit with the JP with providing more then one start point; I guess you can call this issue fixed in current Halloween event since they changed everyone to wisps.

Christmas definitely did the skin system right I think though. Can buy a specific set of skins from the gem store, or buy a different set of skins with sweater scraps/from tp that dropped at a decent rate (not as high as dragon bash candy but some people easily farmed them). Then at the end of the holiday you got a free gift that had some random type of the skins in them as well.

Not to mention the minis made form the dungeons were pretty easy to make as well. Though I was disappointed with the RNG minis from the chests. >.>

I think a big factor for this Halloween is they got rid of the tiered approach which was kind of cool, but some people disliked it as well. I liked it because it dragged the event out longer and new things showed up every week instead of just running through everything in the first day or two.

I do hope they don’t mess with the kindness factor they set for Wintersday last year. But there is a chance it just won’t stand up to our expectations either. :S

How come no one zerg the Labyrinth

Your best bet is probably just to guest to another server with a higher population.

I guess people are just burnt out/tired/doing other bosses/champ farming that is much more productive.

My server has also been dead in the Labyrinth all week even at peak times. So you are not alone.

A laggy instance seems to be the biggest factor for me when I get nabbed by the hands/randomly ported back to start, despite being ahead of the fog. Of course leaving and joining another instance usually works that problem out for me though.

You do have a small chance of being grabbed on the two jumps that put you on the line of the fog, but in my experience the chance of getting grabbed there is pretty slim.

The dungeon is gone, and yes story wise it makes sense maybe, but it was a good dungeon.

The dungeon didn’t appear until the mad king burst out of the mad realm, only a couple days before halloween. Which happens to be pretty close to the next scheduled release.

Yeah I was thinking that maybe it was tied to dates again. But I thought maybe they were trying to get away from that. It is quite possible it will show up again, especially considering the Mad King says is timed as well.

I just figured they’d at least…post it on the page if it was going to show up again. /shrug.

I mostly find it strange that they got rid of decent content from last year. The dungeon is gone, and yes story wise it makes sense maybe, but it was a good dungeon. I see no reason it really should of been cut out even with the existing story. Same goes for the scavenger hunt. It was decent content and something different for people to do instead of farm in Labyrinth.

Same goes for dropping some of the achievements; pumpkin carving: it still exists in menial form of the daily, seems almost pointless now. Why not give people the clocktower achievement if they didn’t do it last year. Its still achievement worthy I think.

I thought the benefit of seasonal content was that some of it is repetitive. I know GW2 is trying to change the definition of ever-changing world, but it is definitely disappointing to see decent content stripped from the game. Especially when you compare what we have now to last years.

I won’t even go into the candy corn debacle. Its just sad. :/ I leveled my alts more last year because of candy corn everywhere then I did any time after that. Was kind of looking forward to it. And potentially gathering enough for 20 slot pail/mini. I knew it was going to be absurd. But you can’t make it absurd and then nerf all ways to get it. That and I feel like the way content is going…the mini definitely won’t be there next year.

Last year there was a bug or something that caused you to hit an invisible wall on the clock face. I’m not sure if it still exists, but if thats what it seems like you are doing then you can leave and enter another lobby/relog and it should fix it.

But it does have a very precise spot you have to hit. The link Rekia posted may help. I know I had a lot of issues discerning when to hit the clock without watching a video.

Good luck.

When I first went in there the first small group ran into him and we wiped so much. One shot mechanics everywhere lol. Then we found out that the good old technique of everyone stacking in his melee range is helpful. Even more so when hes against a wall.

But he does have way too much freaking health. :/

Healers/Support in GW 2

I think the ability that people have to heal/support themselves solely and to an extent their party is quite good in its current state. As someone who loved being a healer in every MMO ever I have to say I am quite grateful for the chance of the way it works here.

That and I’m not sure how making a damage-less class is even possible. A class that cannot defend itself without someone killing for them is never fun. I have played some classes in MMOs where I literally could never level without another person. Never fun to sit around wasting time for a group/party. No one would pick a pure healer that cannot solo at all compared to what already exists.

Just sounds like it goes totally against what GW2 wants to do.

"Key Maker" Daily Meta Achievement Broken

Yeah came here to check if this was a bug or I did something wrong somehow. Made a key in Metrica before fighting FE and didn’t get achievement.

Worked fine for me a couple of days ago though.

Sorry for the necro, but Maciver is bugged on Ferguson’s Crossing it seems. No dialog whatsoever from him after you complete the heart (or before for that matter).

This one is definitely creepy and I’m sure it will fit a lot of peoples characters or just for fun. Its just nice to see stuff that isn’t the first 3 we had. Though I do think a large majority probably already bought the infinite ones from the sale/initially if they were going to pick them up.

As for the price I do feel its a bit steep for character bound. But 2 of the 3 I bought for my main came from gold to gems alone. I did spend real money to buy the last one. That said if you are planning on decking all your characters out in these I don’t think its worth the money. I think it may be priced more for people who don’t make a lot of alts. Hard to say what ANet is thinking other them “money.”

Tequatl already a ghost town

Teq been a ghost town on Ferguson’s Crossing ever since the first week passed. Second weekend was only like 10 ppl max there. No one even bothers now and when people ask about it, no one really says anything about attempting to try it again. Just hard to motivate enough people it seems.

Jormag and stuff people would rather do then Tequatl anymore. Which is strange, considering Jormag was the most hated till now. :P

No backpack?

I think theres a lot of nice goodies this time around.

Its possible you can still do the scavenger hunt “quests” from last year since the Durmand Priory lady is still around. So might be able to get the book backpacks there.

But I’m glad to see the variety among rewards. I am also looking forward to a halloween themed bag. I was disappointed the 10 slot trick or treat bag was soulbound and kind of worthless on my main. But I really like the Gift box ones from Wintersday.

Also more minis is always good, even if they offer nothing to the game other then something to collect. Glad to see one of them is a Candy Corn mini though. xD Wanted one of those last year.

Candy Corn node is also good I think, so I can now have access to cooking recipes without having to stockpile corn this year.

Wonder if new weapon skins will show up though, or be the same ones.

Old achievements?

Its possible some will show up again. I expect stuff like pumpkin carving and the labyrinth achievements will exist again.

If you compare it to SAB the old achievements from the first world had a meta reward added to it and were available again. Its possible they could do the same this time while adding some new achievements.
