https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/No-Chests-from-Orr-Champions-Not-Jormag but this thread has a better/more generic title.

There were also a bunch of champion/legendaries in CM story mode which had no loot.

I think I’d actually prefer it if every champion would only drop one champion bag per day, it’d make people move onto the next champion into the next area/zone instead of running the same path over and over again. And it would make some of these weapons more rare and more expensive, I mean Entropy is 75g right now, that hammer should be around 200g like Genesis.

Last night in map chat, after joining the champ zerg I was in, someone made an observation that was painfully accurate “Well, after 6 months, Arenanet finally got people to kill champions”.

In my experience, that’s pretty accurate. Be it Cursed Shore, Frostgorge, Kessex Hills, Timberline, etc. When leveling characters through those zones casually (taking a couple days here and there), I’d see the same champion event on the map daily, and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t an instance of someone had killed it earlier and it just respawned.
I think the change Arenanet made to the loot dropped by champions is indicative that there is some factual data behind players wanting some reward for the risk.
When you risk a couple silver in repair fees in order to get a drop that is worth around 60copper, people simply are going to pass and go do something else.
A minority of folks here on the forum think that people who want loot need to leave the game and go do something else, but if their attitude was prominent among the playerbase, Anet wouldn’t have made the changes.
Truth is, the majority of players want compensation for their effort. Legendaries, cultural armor, gem store items (for those who want to convert gold to gems for purchasing) are carrots dangling out on a 3mile long stick. People are not going to stop and waste a bunch of time on a champion that only moves them forward an inch, when killing another 4 mobs in half the time will move them forward 5 inches or more.

I don’t think there was ever much risk in terms of repair cost. Once you have fought a champion once you basically know how things are going to turn out next time. It’ll either be ‘walk in the park’ easy(but still time consuming) or ‘not really worth the effort regardless of reward’.

It was not only the precursor I was pointing out, but how my friend and I got good drops in 1 day, between us we made 500g in hours. Not to mention every 2 hours someone in my guild or map chat shouts out they just made 100g off of a new skin. This does have a flaw though, if it continues like this the skins will drop to normal exotic prices

That is ignoring something extremely obvious. The 500g has to come from somewhere. It didn’t come from killing champions unless you are also managing to kill between 1,000 to 5,000 champions an hour. It also destroyed 75g in the form of fees and taxes. How long does it take to make 75g just killing the champions excluding any profit from selling these new weapons?

Well, farming champs is already a complete waste of time… in a week or so the last of the new skins will be below 5g and people will just buy them off the TP instead of trying to find one.

There is no reason to make these drops daily.

The one I want is almost at 3g. I am waiting for it to hit 2g.
I hope they keep farming.

2 or 3 dungeon runs to get what I want rather than waste hours upon hours farming? YEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!

The champions at lyssa’s event not dropping loot is probably on purpose. The reason should be fairly obvious if their spawn is only based on time rather than something like the priestess’ health. I don’t know if that is the case, never paid enough attention to observe how/when they get spawned. Culling certainly doesn’t help.

I find it interesting that the champion gorilla is not on that list. I’ve never gotten any reward from that thing and that is basically the number one reason to ignore the event(the fact that it is there not the lack of loot).

Completing events in Cursed Shore - bannable?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

It`s not bannable to complete events. It`s just people being idiots with the new champion loot. The community went from nice to being total kittens. I saw someone call someone else a kittenbag for killing the Champion Spider in Queensdale just before. Map chat went from being helpful to just one giant zerg calling champions out.

One of the best things and one of the worst things Anet has done in a while.

They chose to cater to the wrong MMO crowd, in my opinion. The “MOAR!!!” MMOers are the wrong kind of players to build a community – or a game – around.

This isn’t really a matter of catering to anyone. The change has made it so failure is more rewarding than success for some events. That should never be the case. Imagine if they dungeon reward change was “get one extra gold but only if your team wipes at the boss”. That wouldn’t make any sense but that is what happened with some events. Fixing this would require completely redesigning some event chains. Some chains already had this issue before the change.

Does everything need a reward? Maybe, maybe not. Rewards encompass many things. The easiest reward are for tangible things like gold. Access to specific vendors would also be considered a reward but only for some people. Making a difference in the world would also be another reward but we’ve only seen extremely shallow versions of that.

Looks to me like they just took the easier way out rather than trying to cater to a specific group. Implementing the other types of rewards is harder than creating loot tables.

Yes, I realize most classes have ways to mitigate damage, but as a basis, this is still a good guideline?? So if I can take a few hits or die when a mob looks at me wrong, hehe :P

My guardian is at 3824 according to that formula. She is far from fragile even when playing with a handicap(only using scepter/focus, little to no weapon swap).

There is also Firebringer which is the same skin with flames(based on GW1 Fiery Gladius).

In GW1 Anet done the same thing added certain weapons to certain mobs knowing full well that players will farm them. (Icy Dragon sword, Totem Axe and more) So this is no different so put your tin foil hats away and good luck getting your weapons.

These are actually a lot less restrictive. I am not even sure we can say that the drops are specific to a certain type of bag/box yet. Several are already known to drop from multiple types of containers.

The class is a late bloomer, leveling can be…slow at times. We tend to hit puberty at about 40, and are well into quasi adulthood by 60.

Its early to say, but Rangers look better and better each day. They wear medium armor, and don’t do “magic” per say, but they do offer sustainable DPS and the class(along with Necros) have seen a lot of love from the devs lately. Something to add to the list.

That doesn’t really apply in HotM since you have all traits available. On the other hand stats aren’t quite the same in HotM as in PvE …

The biggest difference is that world events have a guaranteed rare. These are mostly masterwork and a couple of silvers at best and some karma(still not sure why they keep giving more karma without adding anything to spend the karma on).

The smarter move would be making non-event related champions scale(perhaps unlimited scaling or just … gorilla scaling). Champions would still be worth killing but zerging would not be the best choice. In a way PvE has acquired the same problem as WvW …

Knowing anet, they would break it. Like when they first introduced this zerg counter scaling to certain events.

Remember the champion wraith at penitent camp? How it had an AoE life siphon that covered the whole camp and dealt somewhere around 30k damage per second? It also completely refilled his health bar.

Yeah, that tended to happen if more than 10 people showed up to do the event.

Actually I don’t. :P
I generally don’t hang out in Orr but I’ve seen mentions on the forum. If you leave it uncapped it could start siphoning from the whole map.

I got the MF conduit and love it, for 50g, it helps keep me from going to town when my inventory is filled. Also towns/merchants are everywhere, but the mystic forge is only in LA. So having your own portable & permanent MF does come in handy. Also it’s resellable after using it, & there will not be any more produced, so the price will eventually rise. It’s a convenience & an investment item.

Actually the MF is also everywhere.
You can use the one in Heart of the Mist. The main drawback is losing your stacks if you happen to be using one of those sigils.

And most of this game is so easy there’s no way you will need a strategy guide except for the hardest of dungeons.

Overflow is working oddly for this event. I can run one character into it and he’ll go into my home server, then log out and back in with another one and he’ll go into overflow for hours.

Oh forgot to mention this. During some of the other events(mainly those in southsun) I’ve noticed that it seems like the game tries to remember which overflow you were in and try to put you in the same one each time. That might interact badly with the 75 person limit for the pavilion.

There are two ways to progress that achievement. Neither of them is what you are doing.

2) You can talk to Grove Emissary in the Pavilion then kill stuff in the Pavilion.

Khisanth.2948

Also I believe my character has a bit of a gift for landing lodes for some unknown reason… not just among the icebrood but sparks as well, and even the Orrian trinket boxes.

I hate you and your luck. :P

But, I agree with the MF not mattering. Back when the lodestones used to drop it really didn’t matter whether you were wearing no MF or a full set of MF. Their drop rate remained the same.

Though, unlike your experience, I have found their drop rate in the last few months to be horrible.

Well there is a bit more to it than just MF or no MF. For some builds giving up offense/defense for MF will not have a very large impact but for others it will mean slower kills. Doubling the drop chance while also doubling the time to kill would not be very useful.

Just place some “low” price buy orders on legendaries and cancel them when you need the money.

Thank you for the advice, I really enjoyed my paladin tank when I played WoW.

What are guardians like when using two handed sword as appose to main hand and shield? Is two handed sword the viable dips spec for them?

I generally use a greatsword (2h) specced for a mix of DPS and support (I use staff as secondary, switching to scepter-shield when needing ranged attacks), and seems to work great so far. I do decent damage, of course not as much as a full serker warrior, but with lots of survavility and support.

In general each weapon seems best suited for a different task in guardians, greatsword = AoE melee damage, Staff = Support with a little bit of AoE short to medium range (the autoattack is AoE, so it’s great to tag enemies in big encounters), scepter = ranged both ST and AoE, sword = single target melee DPS, Hammer = Control with some AoE Melee DPS, mace = defense and healing, shield = defense, torch = burning and cleansing (I think I didn’t miss any)

You forgot focus. Blind, +DPS, block, AoE damage, <3.
While the things you have listed are true it is only the start. I like to melee with my scepter with my current build because of Renewed Justice and Blind Exposure. Sword is also not entirely single start and #2 and #3 gives you a bit of range depending on the situation. Hammer is also very good for defense because of Protection. It can also heal and/or apply vulnerability depending on traits. It also has a blast finisher on #2 with the second fastest recharge(fastest would be thief’s Cluster Bomb).

This of course ignores the fact that you will be able to craft pre-cursors with the introduction of the new legendaires. This will have some unknown effect.

It might be more cost effective to craft it once that is introduced. But if you are just looking to make money then the biggest winners (and losers) will always be found from gambling.

I’m confident that even with the crafting of precursors, or the scavenger hunt, the system will be designed so that players will still considering gambling/buying on tp as an alternative.

To make one alternative more expensive than another would disrupt the market for precursors

Given recent development, probably time gated to require 6+ months per precursor …

Don’t buy it now. Wait a few days. We’re dealing with the “final rest” syndrome now. Once the obsessed players get their hands on it, the price is going to fall quite a bit. It’s already fallen from 200g to 35g in less than 24 hours. These are going to be dropping forever, so just wait.

http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/44960

I was thinking the same. Also offload ASAP if you happen to get one.
I would expect this to fall lower than Final Rest mainly due to supply. Shadow Behemoth is what? Once every 2.5-3 hours? Champions respawn much faster and there are many more of them out in the world. Even if there was only one champion that drops this … just take a look at Queensdale mapchat and you can expect many more of these to become available(the weapon drops from champion bandit loot bags).

Even if you do want celestial stats there are alternative ways to get it depending on what you are looking for. For trinkets those are already available with ascended celestial stats. At least one(I haven’t checked all of them) of the new weapons from champion drops also has celestial stats.
