There are a bunch of minis from the GH mini merchants and there are a bunch that can be bought with each of the new map currencies.
PvE’ers complained that they had to go to WvW for map completion, so loud and so often, that Anet caved. Where’s the love for us WvW players who don’t want to PvE to unlock our elite specs with our Proof of Heroics?
And don’t give me that “play your toon to unlock it” junk. Did you do all the hearts in all the zones to level up your Revenant, or did you use Tomes of Knowledge? Same thing.
The tomes exist more because of PvP than PvE.
Edit: How is having people in WvW who do not really want to be there taking up a spot that could have been someone who actually wants to be there a good thing?
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
It is just PvE maps.
I don’t even know how many wvw players there were. I think the population might be shrinking.
I’m not sure if that is expected or Anet just didn’t do enough good a job.
My past experience for RvR game is it only have a couple year life spam. So it could be it is just time.
I honestly never saw any RvR focus game that can live past a few years.
Since when did GW2 count as a RvR focused game?
They said there will be more elite professions later. You’ll need those Hero Points then.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see anet reworking how to unlock future elite spec’s in a way where no extra heropoints are required, but totally forgetting old heropoints exist ;3
The next expansion’s hero challenges will award 30-40 hero points each so the 10-HP challenges of HoT aren’t worth much and you HAVE to do the HPs of the new expansion to unlock the new spec. Then the next expansion will award 60-80 HPs per challenge and so on.
Really? Is that official? That’s nuts lol
You can get 398 Hero Points from leveling alone and 214 from Hero Challenges in Core Tyria for a total of 612 HPs
Unlocking all skills requires 98 points and all core specs 300, for a total of 398, the exact same you get from leveling, so going to level 80 will give you access to all core skills and traits.
Unlocking an Elite Spec requires 250 Hero Points, which means if you get all challenges in Core Tyria you need 36 HPs from HoT. HoT has 400 HPs which leaves us with 364 extra Hero Points. So if they release a new Elite Spec in the next expansion and it costs the same as the current one (250) players with full HoT exploration will unlock the new elite spec without playing in the new zone at all. Maybe they will allow this but I think they won’t. So it makes sense the new Elite Spec will cost more than the old one to unlock, which also means the new Hero Challenges will award more Hero Points so they are the “best thing” for points and not HoT challenges.
We’ll see what they come up with.
That seems like an extremely bad idea because a couple expansions down the line and you’ll end up with challenges giving a 100 points each or maybe even more than that.
Not needing the HP for future elite specs doesn’t really matter as long as there are still reasons to go do the challenges anyway. For example it would still be necessary for map completion. The event based ones also give a daily reward. Nothing incredible but it is still a reason.
They already know(or should know) that making people wait too long to fully unlock is a bad idea.
They have mentioned the possibility of adding elite specs outside of expansions. That would be the simplest but probably most expensive way to eat up these spare points. On the other hand releasing a new set of elite specs is probably a good way to bring some people back into the game anyway.
Finishing Torn from the Sky gives you 1 Mastery Point which is enough for unlocking gliding but first you have to spend some time in Verdant Brink to fill the exp bar. Once it is filled you can click on it or open your hero panel(H by default) and click on the last tab. Then you click on the + next to Glider Basics in the Gliding mastery line to unlock gliding.
You must be in Maguuma and a lv80 character to earn mastery exp for gliding.
That’s kinda what Call Target is for, no?
Not really. It’s useful in PvP when I select a target to see which of my team mates he has targeted, or when I select a raid boss to see if he changes targets for an attack. Calling a target is a completely different function.
I think you are forgetting that in many cases it is not necessary to have a target to use a skill in GW2. That will result in balance issues
That aside why should the game be providing that kind of assistance especially in a PvP format?
honestly though how many mass production recipes do you use?
Well between the lodestones and amalgamated gemstones it’s already plenty
GW2 MMORPG Interactive maps shows how to get there.
http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/luminates-throne/141862/
Go to the right in the room with the pillars and you will see the jumping mushrooms which will take you up there to the Mastery point and POI. It is also where you launch off to get to the Golden Chicken achieve and I think an HP way out there on one of the pillars.
You could get to the HP from there but you could also just start from Northgate for the HP.
Every character in GW2 also happens to be an alcoholic which would not help.
You need to be lv40+ before you can continue with chapter 4 of the story. Once it is active you just have to go to the green mark as usual. That will actually put you into an instance that uses the old version of LA.
I have never found a map in which people split among all the outposts during night and actually defended them. In the end, every map succeed in killing all 5 bosses but the meta event progress bar always stops at around 98%, thus, I still don’t have my bladed coat box. And I think I never will….
If that happens, get to ground level and find an extra event. Anything. Kick and scream in the map chat until people come to help with it. So many people seem to give up when the meta’s not quite done, but the bosses are dead – it’s worrying.
or they just went afk assuming it is done because the bosses are dead, that is how things work in the rest of the game. All bosses dead equal done. The game also doesn’t present it as a failure state unlike the other three maps and the differences in rewards is also more subtle than the other maps.
Am I missing something, or am I just unlucky?

Rhyav, I agree. The problem lies in those things that drop from mobs in a localized area that you don’t need to enter in regular game play. Like the rassenfrassen Tengu. Other than one HP and one ley-line to another HP, nothing hauls you up to the Tengu ledges as part of working on the map. So if the Feather doesn’t drop in the first few while you’re doing HP things, you pretty much have to go up there to mindlessly kill the birds until one coughs up the loot.
That is actually not true. The feather can also drop from one of the map bonus boxes. I got the feather before I fought any Tengu.
Nope. None of the choices made every really mattered. Most are soon forgot anyway.
Vigilant and commander’s jewelry recipe books give incorrectly named recipe sheets. The recipe sheets are named “Charged Ambrite …” instead of “Flax Blossom …” and “Burl …”. They do teach the correct recipes.
checkpoints, definitely checkpoints.
The whole thing has so many difficult and leathal jumps, combined with it being pretty timeconsuming even if you would get it right in one go, that failures and constantly having to start all over is dishearting.
I don’t mind hard jumps or failures, but the penalty is too harsh. Too many times I had to start over from the wp, like I had not done anything at all. And it’s hard enough that even with a lot of practice you can still slip and fall to your death on many points. Heck many times I don’t even get back to where is was and I quit it in frustration again, without feeling I gained anything for my efford. Next time will still be freaking hard.
Havingit be it cut into smaller bits with checkpoints would be way more fun, even with the rest the same as the challenge is fun in itsef. I would feel I could actually make progress. It’s the only core tyria jp I haven’t finished yet. those pipes launching me upward and having to land on the next. always get me. And a fall from there means starting all over again from waypoint.
As for trolls revenge. It is a complete new jp, all over LA roofs and such. I would suggest googling it as it’s very hard to explain.
It wouldn’t even need multiple checkpoints. Just one at the “entrance” would be fine. Where is the entrance you might ask? The same place where gliding starts to get turned off.
Well, I really do want to get a specialization weapon, but that means reclaimed plates for a plated weapon and beating dragon stand to talk to the merchant. Not going to happen tonight and probably not any time soon.
Work on a legendary? I have one started, a little, but I have to run dungeons like 9 times or PvP for rewards. Again. work for me, since I like neither.
Depending on which legendary you decide to work on you might have to go do Dragon’s Stand as well. That is both good and bad depending on how you look at it.
And the current activity doesn’t really give me anything to do, besides die repeatedly to people who are better at Dragon Ball than I am.
There was a reason to do Dragon Ball last year(IIRC it gave laurels for the festival daily completion) but why do it this yes especially if you are not enjoying it? These festival PvP things are basically doomed to failure when they decide that matchmaking was unnecessary.
That makes it extremely annoying for build swapping not to mention potentially extremely grindy but attempting to fix those aspects risk trivializing the system’s existence.
You meet there for guild missions, farm nodes, get boosts. Why hang around?
Doesn’t seem very useful to gather there for missions either. It is as good a place as any other but even when you are in a squad and using the guild portal it can still split out the group across multiple instances.
This is a NA thing, and i always thought the whole setup in NA is weird. They have two defense groups on each side, instead of one on east and west like in EU. Consider spawn times of mobs never interfere with spawn time of the fingers thingys you can easy move and kill off all of it and even help the ranged party with mob until next spawn cycle starts. We also don’t call them hills and boat. Just east and west
As someone who moved from EU to NA I always found the NA one to be a bit silly.
Wouldn’t an easier solution just be to remove the story mode requirement as a pre to doing explorable. I’m not sure people really care about the linearity of progression here and those who do will do it in order without being forced to anyway.
This would be the simplest solution. It’s not like running story mode is going to help you much with explorable mode anyway.
As for linearity, I ran them out of order despite starting at around 2 months after the game’s release. I don’t think that was ever relevant.
Don’t know if this is what you mean, but some ‘blocks’ aren’t blocks but act as evades – such as mesmer sword 2, rev sword 3, engi hammer 3.
Mesmer sword 2 does not mention block anywhere. Why would anyone think it is a block?
Cause guild halls are useless feature. Waste of resources. Same goes to housing really. Its not Sim game, in mmo you want to keep moving and progress.
Maybe there is also a lot less players interested in them then peopple thought.
I’m also with the same group as the guy above. What’s even worse they were done on actual maps that could have been used as real maps with real content. Now the Maguma Wastes and Jungle are even smaller.
Even if you have all the resources in the world and you love to decorate … the decoration interface is pretty bad.
Just do the events with +exp stuff active. You should have at least +50%(15% food, 15% utility, 10% this year’s fireworks, 10% last year’s fireworks). Pretty much all the HoT events are part of an event chain with few exceptions. Wandering around is probably not as efficient as compared to completing chains. Dragon’s Stand is probably the simplest to follow since you are more or less just going in a straight line until the boss. You’ll want to use the LFG to look for an organized map.
It is fine in game atm. Might be a login server issue
or region specific since nobody mentioned which one they are on. Been fine the last couple of hours in NA for me.
Crab Toss has been broken for a while. Wouldn’t be surprised if that broke too.
Isn’t salvage pit easier than Drone Race?
As for Haywire Punchomatic. I am not sure if I can get gold and the controls feel clunky but it is also strangely fun. Scrap rifle was also enjoyable after some experience with it.
No mention of the vampiric infection applying Nightfury’s effect(or something very similar) on you?
It already shows the name of the region when you hover over it. If you can’t remember the name of the zone … I am not sure what to say to that.
Changes to guild mission preferences is not recorded in the guild history. Our mission preference got changed but I can’t tell if it is due to a bug or if someone accidentally changed it. It would also be nice if there was a confirmation for changes to avoid accidents.
Lots of mobs can dissapear into the ground and re appear somewhere else.
Wurms do it frequently.
In HOT , a lot of the Mordren do the same thing.
Yeah but those always have an animation to go with it. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a mordrem do it unless you mean the despawning animation. The raptors just go poof. Additionally they don’t return to attack me.
What happens if you do no damage at all, but simply apply conditions to the boss so that they are slowed down and do less damage to everyone else?
Likewise if you do nothing other than rezzing dead players.
It would be interesting to see the methodology of measuring participation in an event.
This is both a great time to test that and a terrible time to test that.
Before the most recent update I could tell you that would have given you no participation credit at all. I got hit by that twice when doing Frozen Maw where I was just healing and ressing people. I didn’t do it on purpose, I just forgot to smack the boss a few times. At the end I got absolutely nothing.
Why is it a terrible time to test? Last week when I was trying to finish the achievement for the ogre lane events to get the mastery point the game told me I was no longer participating in one of the events while I was knee deep in enemies spawned by the event. I was at the event from the start. I was in range of the event the whole time. Up until that point I’ve killed at least half of the mobs spawned by the event.
Pretty good chance that most people just read the title of the thread.
Your personal guild bank will be fine. You can access guild banks from any server now.
I am not sure if this applies between US and Europe but it seems that you are thinking of transferring within the US servers. By the way, you should only transfer if you want to do WvW with your friends. All other activities together can be easily managed now because of the megaserver.
It applies between US and Europe as well.
Come to think of it, waypointing is itself an exploit. You don’t see the natives doing it. They’re forced to walk around everywhere. We’re subverting Tyrian society and flaunting the immigration laws of the various regions by teleporting in and out without going through the TSA (Tyrian Security Administration) checkpoints.
Pocket raptors use waypoints. Even while they are in combat.
O_O
How else would you explain their disappearance in the middle of fighting and they weren’t dead? I don’t think they logged out. :P
- Start at Hunter’s Pitfalls in the northeast corner of the map.
- Look for the wounded moa. Attacking it starts the Beak of Darkness event.
- Head south to King Jalis’ refuge, and do the jumping puzzle
By this point you should have two events complete, or 3 if the veteran looter spawns in the jumping puzzle. If the flower collection event spawns as well, you’ve just completed your daily events.
I think the lead up event to the flower collection is another one that might bug. So that makes three that I can think of out of all the events on the map.
Escorting the two quaggans to the quaggan village can also start at the end.
I find the best way to get the daily on this map is wait for the Order of Whispers chain (3 events) and then hang out with the Kodan until either the emissary or the assassin event happens.
You could do the JP for a fourth or sometimes fourth and fifth.
Guys, this glider is being advertised in the blog post with an image that presents particular white-ish colours. Does anyone know what are the dyes used for the image in the blog post? https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/65a00Phoenix-Kite.jpg
I see black, yellow and blue. Where are you seeing white besides the trail which is always white?
Edit: Hmm checking in game it seems the image is presenting something that is impossible to achieve with the released product. Neither dye channel affects the tail which means it can’t be yellow like in the image. The tips of the wings in the image are also dyed and that isn’t doable in the released version either.

The current preview system does need a bunch of improvements but none of those improvements are “implement a test realm”.
When you enter fractals it already tells you how much AR is necessary for the selected scale.
We were all new once and had these questions.
You’ll need to do the first chapter of the story as mentioned, you’ll also need to gain a mastery point to spend on your unlocked mastery and once you’ve completed one, you’ll need to select another to train in otherwise the experience you’re gaining is not going towards another mastery. You can continue to train the mastery if you don’t have the points for it, but you’ll want to gather them before the bar reaches max.
Finishing Torn from the Sky also gives a mastery point so completing that gets you both a point and the unlock.
This is likely not a glitch but a directional issue. The tendril flamethrower aims in the direction you are pointing. For example, if your camera is over your character’set head, you are looking toward the ground and the flame is shooting into the ground. The engi flamethrower automatically shoots “parallel” to the ground and doesn’t have this issue. Try lowering your camera view so you look over your character’s shoulder toward the horizon. This should allow you to see the flame.
That is not actually true unless you also have a target selected.
For inscriptions rabid is slightly cheaper magi.
Indeed, it is the Heritage light armor you get for having played guild wars 1. Its free in the hall of monuments, which you also get from having played gw1. This armor is some of the first bonus items you unlock, you dont have to do much in gw1 to get them. Beat the story campaign basically. The best part is all the hall of monuments stuff is free to apply as much as you want, no transmute things necessary. Best of luck!
You don’t eve have to get that far. You get 3 points for linking accounts which is enough to unlock the chest piece.
So I really don’t understand why would you not include Islamic events . This game should respect everyone’s belief like we do respect and celebrate every event out there .
LOOL where you respect? you just kill people who don’t believe in islam, and so on so please stop.
You should don’t ask nothing, and you should thanks because you can play the game.
I think you are describing the Octovine westgate event …
I don’t know how anyone can be sure someone is botting. Even if someone change order every 5 minuets, he could just be using API.
And I don’t know how anyone can claim bots don’t exist. Even when OP says he found the site with it.
Gw2’s trading post system itself made it susceptible to bots. The only way it won’t have bots is change the system. Just like the only game without aimbot is using tab targeting.
Look at the brightside gw2’s TP is slow. Anet claim it stops bots.
The API is readonly.
The site the OP is referring to looks a lot like gw2tp.com who’s graphs looks like it is generated from data obtained through http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:2/commerce/prices . That data is cached for 5 minutes.
Quartz is also available through the map bonus system. That is pretty reliable unless you are having trouble completing events in low level zones. 20 events for 5 quartz is probably much slower than running through and mining. Sprockets are also available from the map bonuses but at a lower rate.
One of those is not like the others …
Well, they’ll all be pricey just because of the ascended mats needed. But I would guess that Forgemaster’s would be one of the cheaper options, since it uses Rampager (which needs powerful venom sacs, which are cheap).
Hronk’s(Magi’s) is cheaper than Rampager’s.
“Due to inactivity you are no longer participating in …” is also in misc.
