Sorry, but that’s the mechanic. Instant utilities / steal don’t interrupt channels. If they did, you wouldn’t have a “precast cloak and dagger + steal”, or Ele’s doing a precast of churning earth + teleport to their poor victim, or mesmers… whatever the bloody hell that mesmers do.

It’s one of the only things spicing up the game. Don’t be a crybaby and try to get that little spice removed.

I have this happen too – root wears off and you still can’t move, and then you have to burn a utility or hope you have your short bow out with enough initiative to infiltrator’s arrow away.

Targeting is hard. Not to sound stupid, but it’s not easy. Someone in EBG on Blackgate keeps dropping (and building) multiple pieces of siege right on repair NPC, and the game mechanics have no finesse in targeting the NPC vs any of the 3 pieces of siege sitting on the same dang spot.

Wow. If I’m on my thief and I don’t use steal every 20 or 30 SECONDS, I’m not playing.

Walk around for 20 minutes with it… lolzers.

It’s a random skill, sometimes sucks, sometimes rocks. They balance out….. to still somewhat lackluster.

We saw devs in EBG on BG and JQ’s side just prior to S2.

They have experienced it. They just don’t to particularly care about finding a solution (or paying for a hardware solution).

With multi-hour queues, I would really appreciate being able to level up an alt or do something meaningful on another character. Right now, switching to another character makes you leave the queue.

Again your saying your awake time is more important than someone else’s.

No, it’s saying the the points should be related the the average # of players on at a time. YOU are saying that someone else’s awake time is worth more because they are proportionally a larger percentage of the total number of people on at that time.

PPT should be based on the average number of players across all sides on a given map.
Full map x3 = 100% of max points / tick.
2 outmanned + 1 full =~ 40% of max points / tick

This still doesn’t solve the issue of the majority of a server’s players starting each day having to retake their own garrison / keep each day. That’s a separate (and exhausting) issue.

Yup, it matters. If I’m going to be able to have all my points on another character, I’m going to make sure he gets to 80 and geared out by the 15th. Otherwise I’m not going to, because it will be faster to gain the wvw points on my main and then use them on my alt when my main has gathered enough.

So hang me. I like to plan things out.

Could we get a red-name confirmation?

From the announcement:

As a part of this change, we will be resetting everyone’s spent World Ability Points on the day of the build. This gives everyone the opportunity to re-allocate their points on each of their characters. You will have the same number of World Ability Points to spend on each of your characters, and you’ll be able to uniquely allocate those points.

I read that as saying that all characters contribute to a common pool and every character has unqiue access to the full allotment regardless of points spent on another character.

(ignoring the first few lower-exp levels – irrelevant to this part of the discussion)

Pre-patch:

Char1 – 100 ranks
Char2 – 200 ranks
Char3 – 300 ranks

Post patch (scenario #1):
Account Pool: 600
Char1 – 600 points to spend
Char2 – 600 points to spend
Char3 – 600 points to spend

Post patch (scenario #2):
Account Pool: 600
Char1 – 600 points to spend
Char2 – (600 – char1 points spent) points to spend
Char3 – (600 – (char1 + char2 point spent)) points to spend

I just need a red name to come in and say “#1” or “#2”.

Charak, I don’t get what you said.

SkyFalls, if you’re right, wow, that is way more generous than I imagined. I thought it would all pool together and each character would draw out of that pool – so if you spent it all on one character, you’d have nothing for the others.

After patch, a pool of 150 – I spend 150 on the ranger – do I have zero available on the engie?

Welp, I crafted everything for my full set of ascended beserker gear, which is a total of 24 days for armor +…. 12 days for weapons (something like that). And 100s of gold worth of material.

I feel a bit bad. And I feel less likely to invest heavily time wise into something that may just be taken or modified in a way that negates my expenditure.

Actual game play and theory craft are worlds apart. Warriors have too much escape ability.

Compromise
Do to warrior mobility skills what they did to Ride the Lightning – you don’t hit a target, you get penalized with 2x the cooldowns.

Ranger population is small and what population it does have is filled with is bearbowbads.

I’ve played both warrior and other classes – including thief.
If you want sad i’ll tell you sad- a level 40 something thief in WvW cannot die unless he wants to or is not even bothering. That’s how strong stealth and some of the mechanics of the class are.

Agreed. But that level 40 thief abusing stealth is not going to put a dent in anyone. Nor is he going to keep up with a warrior, and should he catch him it will be same outcome as a dog catching a car.

Warriors need mobility if they’re melee’ing. But those should be offensive skills to get close to a target, not defensive. That’s what the argument here. These are the skills with the official descriptions:

Whirlwind Attack should require a target
Whirl in a target’s direction, slashing foes along your path

Rush should require a target
Charge and strike your foe

Bull’s Charge should require a target
Charge your foe and knock down fleeing foes.

Savage leap should require a target
Lunge at your foe and strike them with your sword

I’ll even throw you a bone and say that Heart Seeker should function the same way:
Heart Seeker
Leap and strike your foe. The less health your target has, the more damage you cause.

Most Guardian skills already work this way

Judge’s Intervention
Teleport to your target and burn nearby foes.

Merciful Intervention
Teleport to the nearest ally with the lowest health and create a healing area around them.

They require a target, and if they didn’t, they would be considered broken.

Effects:
Rubber Banding – teleport, walk a few steps, immediately back to position before port.

Skill lag (Click ability, delay ( up to 3-4 seconds, action performed)) – frequently followed by skill “haste” – guards attack at 5x speed, invisibility lasts less than half a second instead of 3 – basically the server “catching up” I assume.

Has there ever been a time when you or a friend are experiencing lag, while others in your party are not? No – I frequently ask enemy players and they have the same difficulty at the same time

Has there ever been a time where one party in a map is experiencing lag, while other parties in that same map are not? No. It’s everyone, across the map, as gathered from map chat

Do you experience the lag at very specific times? started happening 3-4 weeks ago? Usual play time is 6PM-8PM EST. Usually orange swords somewhere on the map, but at this time of day our side is almost always outmanned

Just anecdotal evidence, but I believe this happens particularly around a structure and not open field fights. I have particularly noticed that the server seems to “catch up” at the end of a structure being contested when large numbers of people are registered as interacting with the quest associated with defense credit. I’ve debugged enough performance issues to place some money on that.

No one has mentioned that if a thief tries to catch up with a warrior – he probably will. BUT when he does, he will likely have zero initiative while the warrior has multiple abilities on two weapon sets available.

It’s happened to me more than a couple times. I have a hard time backing off, but it’s not a winnable fight. Thief mobility comes at a direct cost of damage ability. Even traited for more initiative, 2 infiltrator’s arrows are enough to leave you with not even enough for one cloak and dagger. No switching to another weapon set – doesn’t matter because have no initiative.

My warrior is level 67, mostly PvE, and it’s just sad. Mismatched gear, multiple levels behind, no thought put into points, and he sits there and face-rolls champions while afk. My level 80 full ascended thief can’t do that.

Warrior design is just stupid. Anyone who disagrees has either not played another class or hasn’t played a warrior.

A small Canadian guild on BG that had some very enjoyable small group play. After butting heads with them (I was on SoR) for a month, we started chatting and got friendly and I joined them on BG. Sadly, small scale encounters are getting few and far between.

And if that JQ warrior named Boaky keeps it up, maybe I’ll join him for a bit. I just hate being on the winning side…

Leave laurels out of this. They are already too contended for ascended trinkets.

And yes, I’m done exploring. I’ve done map completion on 1 character, 70% on another – great leveling, but I’m done with it. It’s boring. Let me level up characters (faster) in wvw.

Make people spend some of those badges we’ve got stockpiled – once they’re useful for something else, you’ll see the price of siege go back up to non-trivial prices, which I think would be good for the economy.

Yes. I’m at 700+ ranks, almost all from roaming / supply camp flipping. It’s usually insanely fun, or I wouldn’t do it.

You can’t wander away from high density areas and have it get better. It extends the whole breadth of the map. You can be in spawn and have the fight be at another spawn point and you still get the same skill delay as if you were in the middle of it.

It may be much easier for zerglings to get levles but as a roamer I tick at around maybe one level per hour if things are going great. After they increased the amount of WXP you get, that is.

Well… funny you mention that. I run with a zerg maybe an hour every 2 weeks. The rest I’m solo supply harassing / cap camping. I’m sure there’s a few people on JQ that would recognize me as of late. And yes, I play about 1-2 hours a night, maybe 5 days a week. So spot on there.

I can’t really disagree with you though… it’s a marked advantage. I just am not entirely opposed to it. It’s really hard to have any kind of progression that isn’t…. well…. progressive.

My vote would be to leave the buffs in, but cut their bonuses in half.

Frankly, anyone who has been playing any character in wvw since wxp was added has 400+ ranks by now.

I’m not even hardcore and I’m almost at 700 on one character and another 25 on others.

Not much will change, but I’ll be able to go try another character with the stacks instead of being stuck on the one character.

It’s perplexity PLUS the OP nature of conditions. Stacking physical damage requires Power, Crit Damage and Crit Chance. Stacking condition damage requires only Condition damage (duration is irrelevant due to the broken +40% duration food), so Condition builds can stack hit points and toughness.

I wasn’t blaming the build in particular. I think the runes are bullcrap. Going up against an engie and getting 20+ seconds of 12 confusion stacks, blowing shadowstep or something to clear it, and 5 seconds later getting another 8 stacks?

No thank you. It’s just as bullcrap on any other class. A warrior let me test with him, and his opening attack sequence put on enough perplexity to hit me for 2250 damage per hit. Translate that – 2 autoattack sequences for a thief takes about 2.5 seconds. That’s how long it takes to do 18k damage to yourself.

That may have been before the damage was lowered, but it is still a valid point.

Or imagine unload or pistol whip… It’s a bad mechanic, short and simple.

No, it’s not the build. It’s the fact that bunker condition builds require 1 stat to go wtf-damage, leaving the player free to stack both toughness and hitpoints, where physical damage requires power, crit damage, and crit chance – leaving ZERO room to stack either hit points or toughness. (and no, I don’t buy that you have to stack condition duration either – the natural duration with +40% food long outlasts the ability for players to remove conditions)

I too tried it – and it felt so wrong. No one has enough condition removal to keep up with what that build dishes out.

And on principle, I won’t play it. Hell, D/D glassy gives people more of a chance.

Elite Skill Doesn't Work

I’m going with scouts blinding you. And if it hit right before you used your elite, it would clear the blind and you might not even see it. And with that many people around you, I’m sure you didn’t catch every condition that hit you.
