Yeah, that’s just poor sportsmanship. I’ve never done that to gloat – usually just strike up a casual conversation, get pointers, etc.
I’d definitely report that kind of stuff as verbal abuse. We’re not 12, and that’s uncalled for.
I don’t think it ended up being 5% on armor. I’m in a full set of ascended and it really doesn’t feel at all different. My food on/off is more noticeable.
Swap Zojja’s for the armor/weapons, +5 toughness on the armor…. can’t remember which of the trinkets were which, but that’s pretty close.
Guard Stacks = http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Applied_Fortitude + http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guard_Leech
Condition necros and !@#$(#$ bunker warriors give me trouble, but by trouble I mean I have to ditch if more people show up, or it takes a while.
25 30 0 0 15 —> Pretty much in love with this right now. For utilities, shadowstep, infiltrator’s signet and signet of shadows. I know it’s a little light on condition removal. However, the mobility is terrific.
All Zojja’s armor+weapons, 4 zerker/2 valk for trinkets, and guard stacks = 17.3k hps.
I hope the BG guys around QL recognize me on sight
Agree 100%. Eliminate the gold cost. The cost is the supply and the strategy of that supply usage.
Okay, moment of honesty – how many thieves came into this topic hoping to see that the QQ was from THEIR backstab?
raises his hand
As often as I abuse it, yes, I have to agree – the rally system is dumb as nails, and really makes no sense from any kind of an RP standpoint.
If it’s not an interval in cron, it’s not in my vocabulary.
Part of the reason ANet put the time gated crafting materials in place was to allow crafters to be able to create and sell some forms of ascended materials at a profit. (Which seems to be working amazingly well!) This still allows players to craft the final armors and weapons nearly instantly, provided they are willing to buy any extra ascended materials they need from the trading post.
Shifting the time gate to an account-bound item would not help to make any of the sellable items profitable, and it would just limit the number of final items you can make to 1 per day. This isn’t the intention of the time gate.
Except that cloth wearers are having to buy a disproportionate amount of materials compared to the other armor classes.
The discussion isn’t the idea of time-gating, it’s that it’s badly distributed time gating.
It’s going to cost a mesmer 100+ more gold to bypass the time gate that it would a thief. And that is straight out mental disfunction there.
We know Anet prefer heavy classes to light, ……
You really typed that….and believe it?
shakes head and wanders off into the morass of these forums
He’s talking about the warrior love.
Which is as true as the pope is catholic.
It is THE time gate at this point. Add in that it’s used in both the medium and heavy armors (padding) and the insignias for all 3.
The problem will slowly fade, but for something already heavily time gated, it’s ridiculous.
Overlooked and intended are two different things. I’m not a cloth wearer on most of my toons, and I’m still furious.
Have you combined 1000 major sigils or runes? How about 1200+ exotics for a precursor?
Oh, no, you haven’t?
Then this doesn’t affect you. It DOES affect a non-trivial segment of the population.
So don’t be a doushebag.
The only thing stupid than time-gating is unequal time gating.
But then again, this type of lack of simple math / foresight is par for the course.

Fifteen characters.
anet associate made this post or had something to do with it. no doubt.
My 3+ infractions would beg to differ.
Yup. This. I mean, I’m guilty of it myself on my own profession, but I usually pick at least one or two points that I can capitulate on, which makes it at least LOOK like I’m listening.
Copy/Paste before and after “collaboration” being the same is just so sloppy to the point that their collaboration attempt is a transparent “you WILL swallow this pill” push.
This happened last balance patch. Lots of talk, and then they did what they want. PLEASE stop thinking that they’re actually trying to get feedback.
They don’t want your feedback.
This is a regular tactic used – it acclimates people to the changes, and then when someone complains, they can say, “you weren’t part of the discussion”. So it works both ways.
Don’t bother. While I completely expected exactly this, I can’t help but feel slighted. Again.
Is there a class you haven’t leveled yet?
I want to take my thief and drop a shadow refuge with 4 warriors with berserker rifle warriors in it.
Dodging is not always a valid response.
Expected? Yes. Acceptable? Bleh, not even close. It didn’t cost what I spent in siege or upgrades. And +1 to the “thoughtless” comment. I suppose the devs thought the level up scrolls were pimp, considering their rarity, but thanks, I’ll ignore your subtle hint to start another alt. I could have used some siege or badges (for siege), but that would have taken someone making the rewards who plays wvw.
I’ve got my warrior up to 35, but god, it just feels so unimaginative. I know that’s not long enough to get the full flavor, but I don’t think I’ll be able to stand the mundane nature of the character.
What are you thieves talking about? If GS + S/W warrior wants to run away you can’t really stop him. If he’s pure glass you might be able to kill him first, but if he’s a bunker and at high health he’ll eventually outrun you. Thieves will generally beat warriors in quick sprints, but not distance running.
Yup. And hilariously, a “Glassy” warrior is 2x as durable as a bunker thief. There has got to be a penalty for doing stellar damage and absorbing stellar damage. It should be that you can’t farking get away – you’ve got to stand and live/die. Or you should have to. The current warrior meta is the exact opposite – best of both damage dealing / absorption and still the best gaddang mobility out there.
The mobility right now is ridiculous. A warrior in combat can cover more ground than someone not in combat with switftness. Warriors were never meant to have that kind of mobility.
Oh, I admit it. I lose my cool when players resort to cheating.

A dev should ask how Sanny.1270 or Jonto.2160 how they’re abusing them, being kittens and bragging about it.
This abuse plain and simple, and people finding away around the toy ban for bull freaking crap escapes should get what’s coming to them.
Go to this page:

Hit “fetch” to find out what servers it is available on – not preparation, but actually running. Guest to that server and finish the event. 30 Dragonite. Rinse and repeat. Check regularly, and probably leave a couple level 80 alts there, ready to go. I’ve got 4 level 80s, and if I time things right, it’s 120 Dragonite ore in a day.
That’s not a certainty, but if you do it daily, you should be getting an average of 60 per day (if you have at least 2 or 3 80s), or enough for 1 weapon a week.
You don’t take armor damage there, so /shrug
Okay. Some people have found a way to continue using the toys.
Should I report them?
Nothing yet. It was quite a sight last week when one troll built 4000 supply worth of ballistas over the course of 5 hours. I have the screenshots, and oddly, I got a network error trying to invite or communicate with him, so I’ve got a weird feeling it was a bot.
Weren’t these supposed to be disabled? I’m getting tired of people in combat moving faster than people out of combat with swiftness.
If I still see this, should I fraps it and send it in?
Still way more powerful than 90% of the rune sets out there. It should have been 20-30 seconds.
oh my god. that is frighteningly bad. If I played my thief like that in a dungeon I’d be booted.
It’s not just damage skills. When guards in WvW perform their self-heal, they turn to face you while you’re in stealth, preventing a backstab, even though the heal has the NPC itself as the ‘beneficiary’ and is casting a beneficial spell.
I’m kinda sad that thieves only have stability on one elite with a 120 second cooldown. Not a bad elite, but… /sigh I miss the stability on demand I have on other characters.
Way to go, resurrecting months old topics. We thank you.
Theftwind, here’s what you do – because I had the same issue.
First, make sure you have at least 3 level 80s that you can permanently camp in Malchor’s Leap at the statue of Dwayna.
Once per day, go to this page:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Drive_Malchor_to_the_Altar_of_Tempests and hit “fetch” to find what worlds this is active on – not preparing, actually in progress. Then guest to that server.
You can also check this page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_possessed_statue_of_Dwayna – but Dwayna dies pretty fast sometimes, so I’d suggest going to the pre-quest so you don’t waste a guest.
Doing this, you can get 90 (30 per event, your home server + 2 guests) per day with only about 20 minutes time.
I’m not saying that I like this, but gaddangit, if I’m going to have to do a chore, (IE, PVE) I’m going to try to do it fast.
It’s hilarious when you can’t flip ogres/hylek because the Toxic mobs have killed too many of them and you have to sit there and wait for respawn.
Yeah, but agro in this game is so wonky that it takes one person geared wrong and in the wrong place and it becomes impossible to position the lord. You know, the whole unshakable thing.
It’s even more broken in EB for the red keep – often the lord wanders out between the two gates and then can be banner rezed from OUTSIDE the keep, within a 45 second run from spawn. 3-4 warriors can keep it permanently contested pretty much.
I have already rolled a warrior, but it’s only level 23 at the moment.
It’s just the same old story, over and over. They want to nerf X specifically, but they use a machete instead of a scalpel. So instead of affecting X, they gut X, Y, and Z.
One of the few zerg utilities I have is blasting water fields, quite frequently in the middle of fights, where I’m hitting 5 enemies, crit’ing 3 of them every second or so, regaining 1 init every blast from Opportunist. So yeah, my regen is going to be cut in half by this “buff”.
Sorry, the red names only post enough to make us think that they care – just enough to be able to say “We asked for feedback didn’t we?”.
The patch was already decided before they came in and “got feedback”. Just try to reimagine your builds, as it’s all that’s left for us to do.
We still have builds?
In regard to the “perma haste” report – server lag is often followed up by skill haste for everyone.
As if the lag wasn’t bad enough…
Other thing that it could be – if there’s a reflect, which both guardians and elementalists can do, and a ranger uses the long bow #3, the stealth is granted to the character that reflected it instead of the ranger.
But most of these sound like server lag and faulty positional information.
It’s not. For JonPeters to try to sell it that way, in multiple topics in multiple forums shows a ridiculous failure of understanding.
Or someone on the team knows it and there was a discussion along the lines of “How can we nerf the frack out of thieves but paint it like we’re improving them”?
Infusion of Shadow
Tweaking is really great !
Agreed. That and going shadow refuge and going from empty to full initiative was bogus. I can get behind those fixes – because they are fixing the intention, not recklessly demolishing traits.
Okay Straegen, the nerf to Opportunities roughly matches the buff to base init regen.
Is it necessary to nerf my emergency init (Klepto and 3 signets) from 9 down to 5?
Can you nerf that and still lie through your teeth and call this a “MASSSSSSSSSIVE BUFF”?
Deathspike, as a thief who runs with 65-70% crit chance, I’m losing even more than you, so it’s pretty much a swash.
Then on top of that, we lose more with the kleptomaniac nerf. And more with the signet nerf.
So yeah. This is ridiculously heavy handed.
