Yeah, I’m growing more an dmore interested in WvW the more and more I play PvE.
I, in fact, do like them.
Unfinished JP15chars?
Actually, that’s been my argument, too. They should have kept the trinity but made it so every class could fulfill every role. That way there’s actual, like… roles in the game. Not just everyone face-slamming every encounter.
I expected this to be a crummy L2P thread but… this is a pretty reasonable request.
Oh yeah, there’s that.
That’s actually fascinating information. Aren’t there instances where there’s water in a map at a certain level, but also open spaces at that level?
Magic Find isn’t selfish! How is it selfish for me to want things only for myself at the expense of my team?!
NO. You should be wearing full PVT. Stop being so selfish!
Quit telling me how to play the game. Not everybody is a scumbag elitist PVTer like you.
You play how you want?!?! I POST ON FORUMS HOW I WANT!!!
You only get to do things the way you want when they don’t impede with the way I want things even if they impede the way you want things!
… Or something!

Tanking does pretty much nothing in this game because there’s no way to hold aggro and being designed to tank tends to mean you do almost no damage. So you’re not really protecting anyone while simultaneously not really helping the encounter end.
I actually support the trinity because at least it gives people concrete roles to fill. When there’s only one role to fill, people are going to find the one class that does it best.
I think the only problem with GW1’s roles were that there was only one good healer, while all the other classes were great at various things.
Well then respond for him. In PM. Duh.
I actually don’t mind that Charr and Asura don’t show gender dimorphism in their clothing. Heck, int he case of the Asura, they don’t really have any dimorphism anatomically, so it makes less sense for them to wear different clothing from one another based on gender.
The Sylvari explicitly don’t even consider gender, so I’m really confused as to why they dress differently when the Charr and Asura do not, but I assume it’s because they’re human-shaped and we need sexy MMO girls.
I ran PVT gear around release. I’ve since switched and never looked back. There really is just no reason to wear PVT. Being able to “tank” attacks is SO much less useful than actually being able to kill the enemy.
I might see an argument for Cleric’s gear when you’re PUGing, though, since PUGs are rarely very coordinated and you might as well keep them on their feet while you’re taking your two hours to get through AC.
I want to be an English major. All I have is a troll major and everyone hates me. :/
Learn to play a dungeon other than CoF p1, zerker-scum.
During the speech, Logan will give birth to hundreds of mini queen jenna’s and the minis will walk toward 1 year old players.

Careful. If any of the loretrolls read this, they’ll make a federal case out of it. They already got on me for questioning his masculinity, and I didn’t go so far as to genderswap him.
I didn’t genderswap him. I just implied he’ll give birth.
Arnold Schwarzenegger gave birth once.
Humorously I was going to do this a few months back. Had already started it even. Then I got banned from GW2W.
Luckily, I got screenshots of the NPC lines (at least some) around the Great Collapse still from before they got removed from the game. Go go historical lines!
Anyways, I personally will look into helping out when/where I can though I got “my” own project to work on (hopefully it will debut soon) – one I’m working on with most of the [Lore] guild. And this project will most certainly be of benefit to my guild’s project!
I realize the answer might end up a bit biased but…
What’d you do to get banned from GW2W?
Yeah, I think SE p2 should at least be 1.5g like the AC paths. The hardest part of the AC paths is the graveling burrows if you’re PUGing and SE p2 is just a long slog.
Yeah, you should always make suggestions to Anet while also sarcastically implying they have trouble comprehending your ideas. Y’know, in the interest of fairness. That’ll make ’em listen.
What build are you using on what class? That could help people contribute to this topic by weighing in more accurately.
Journalistic bias is a fair argument, but the first link is to the ESA. However it doesn’t, as you say, show the breakdown of what games are played.
I might try to find a more in-depth analysis of that, myself, but until then I can only offer the anecdotal evidence that most of the people I have on Steam are women and most of them play AAA games. I know that’s anecdotal and all… but that’s also 98% of what this thread has been so far.
Huh, that’s roughly the build I’ve been using lately.
I love not being able to tell what your topic is by the topic line and having to open the thread to see what it’s a complaint about.
It’s mostly because I read at a rapid rate and only give a flicker of notice toward the name to see whether or not it’s from the same person.
After almost literally two minutes of looking:

That should be more than enough material for the discussion at hand. At least two of the links directly links to the statement I made regarding the amount of women who game.
(edited by Kirschwasser.3972)
I fail to see how being in a first world country have to do with sexism as there are many third world or developing countries that treat women fairly well. They tend to be Buddhist countries though.
Then again in a market dominated by males and companies catering to their tastes is not sexist at all. Unless more women play games that are not Farmville or Angry Birds (sexist right? but its the truth) you wont get a 50 Shades of Grey or Twilight style adventure game or have a booth in gaming conventions that is thronged by women. It may be the nature of the product – just like cosmetics.
That being said, I am not sure I like real life politics in GW2.
… You know female gamers are almost exactly half the gaming populace and that many of them play the same AAA blockbusters as men play, right? … Right? You -did- manage to do two seconds of research before spouting something, right?
Am I the only person that gets Mexican Cookie and TheMaskedParadigm confused with one another when they’re reading?

That is a very fascinating potential story idea that we will likely never explore over the course of this storyline.
I’m from Yak’s Bend and I generally like Yak’s Bend.
The only problem I have with WoodenPotatoes is that he sometimes makes large leaps in logic to tie things together, and then people come to the forums swearing by it like it’s the bible.
For a good example of this: Garrenhoff and the Wizard’s Tower.
Why would Anet want the best city, better than LA destroyed?
They’re gonna destroy Hoelbrak?!
CMF,
I feel anet has created a identity issue with guardian, which stems from a non coherent theme. We are told what guardian is in anet’s class descriptions but how it plays out in real time is quite different from the description.
That pretty much sums up the majority of design issues in this game.
Obviously it wasn’t “everyone”, you have to give some room for hyperbole.
“No no no! We should go to the armory. That’s where the dungeon design team is likely to be!”
No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no
… We should go to the armory.
I’ll accept that Iconik’s actions aren’t better, but everyone’ asking like those farmers are just so poor and innocent and it’s just such a bad thing that they’re being disrupted despite being kittenty kittenlords to other people.
I’d prefer my Jade weapons without a special effect attached, myself.
Am I the only one that things colesy is an alright guy?
Poor colesy.
People don’t like being told they’re wrong so I’ve got quite a few haters now.
I really should stop posting in the cesspool of bads and entitled players that the forums mostly are.
Ah man, colesy, you had a typo there. Fixed it for ya.
I like how Iconik is being singled out for disrupting a group of people who were yelling at people and threatening to get them banned for completing an event.
But nooooo Iconik is the one who’s the bad guy here. Those poor defenseless farmers just wanted to play their game!
I don’t even disagree with farmers, I just hate kittenhead players.
Am I the only one that things colesy is an alright guy?
Poor colesy.
… Except that the games industry IS exceptionally sexist. And just because one incident of a very sexualized character (Lara Croft) not being abducted doesn’t make the trope any less overused, prevalent, or troubling.
If this year’s E3 was any indication, the gaming industry is still exceptionally sexist. You should look at the blogs of women in the industry and the kind of ridiculous things they have to put up with.
Also: Using “feminist” as a derogatory term is very insulting to anybody that’s looking for equal rights for women… which is what a feminist is by definition.
Except that I’m a woman and I can see that the industry is not sexist. Hell, like many other female developers (that worked on those games that you call sexist), I’m going to enter the industry myself. And want to talk about rights? Be an equalitarian and demand equal rights, instead of demanding women rights to be above men. And focus on real problems – like genital mutilation in Africa, women being put in prison for refusing to marry their rapists in Muslim countries. And in some cases fight for both – you don’t want women to be forced into military service? You know what? No human being should be forced into military service.
I really have no respect for people that invent problems instead of trying to solve real ones. And also please tell me what game in E3 today is sexist and in what way. Also if to invent a problem shouldn’t it go both ways? Men in video games are unnaturally attractive and muscular, they always have to show either their strength or their wealth. I find that extremely sexist against males. Why don’t we get an average bear gutted Joe with no job or income as our main character?
I’m just going to go ahead and stop this here, because talks about feminism in gaming tend to go pretty sour pretty fast and there’s no point arguing the matter on the internet. Needless to say, I disagree entirely and don’t find “I’m a woman” to be a valid argument against the matter.
Also: I’m not arguing for women’s rights above men and neither are most feminists.
How do you survive a dragon attack?
Run faster than Snaff!
HA HA HA

The Queen is pregnant with a giant eagle. The decorations of the pavilion really should have clued all of us in. After her speech she’ll lay a giant egg, and everyone will watch with horrified looks on their faces.

Speaking of which, I just started using Sword on my Guardian after a long time of using GS.
Anybody care to weigh in on the pros and cons of a Sword?
I also notice the original reddit post was removed and the goofy villain posts were all deleted. Which makes it look a bit like someone else caught on, too.
What happened in this particular case is entirely unverified and reading the reddit post makes it look more and more like the event was madeup. I know if -I- kicked someone from my party to sell a dungeon spot, I wouldn’t then go onto reddit to gloat about it like some Saturday Morning Cartoon villain.
I agree, however, that it really should have been a 3-of-5 majority vote for kicking. I guess keeping it to 2 avoids having to do tricky programming for, like, if you only have 3 people or something.
I also agree that bad stuff -could- have happened and maybe -has- happened, however your post wasn’t that this stuff -could- happen, it’s that it’s happening a lot and there’s a sudden rash of it all over GW2! “The griefing and abuse has gone on for long enough.”
But I’ve personally only seen unverified accounts of this and kinda bristle at reactionary people as I’m sure other people on this forum do, so it’s a little hard to take it seriously.
