Yeah, I don’t get how anybody could believe that the Guardian is the most restricted as far as viable weapons go. Almost every other profession is stuck with one or two weapons they can optimally use and hte Guardian’s got a plethora.

I prefer Sword/Focus with a swap to GS, but I know some people like to use Staff to stack might before jumping in with Sword.

No one says they’re low quality games.

I do. I say Bethesda games aren’t terribly high quality. They just have pretty graphics… or sometimes not even that. I firmly believe they have been losing quality as time goes on to the point where you basically can’t even lose Skyrim.

People that complain about cookie cutter builds or stuff are about as silly as a general complaining about everyone reading The Art of War.

Why people hate zerks?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Kirschwasser.3972

Kirschwasser.3972

Simple, because almost every zerk out there is not up to that gear. The vast majority keeps dying and dying. It’s pretty easy, just analyze your /death and /age and your death/hour ratio will tell you if you should or should not use berzeker gear. You don’t need to tell me or anyone else the result. Just don’t lie to yourself. Zerk is not for everyone. kitten , melee zerk is not even for half the players. So many people thinking they are good because they use zerk and they are pretty bad actually. Even worse because they choose the wrong gear set for them and the problem worsen as people who posts different builds gets flamed.

And that is why we hate Zerks and people who preaches it.

Ps. People who only plays in closed guild groups should stay away from this topics. You don’t play with “people” you just party with the same 4 guys every night.

we need to punish Anet by boycotting gemstore.

If you did that and it started to show signs of picking up steam, you’d find yourself unable to ever log in again.

Or Anet, noticing that their current tactic was floundering, might be inspired to find a new one.

In either case, don’t most people have ridiculous amount of gold to give to the gemstore anyways?

Do you mean the one in CM? I don’t recall anybody HBing in AC Story, but there is a door guard in CM that does HB and seems to occasionally flatten pugs.

In which case my suggestion is to take skills that allow you to block and/or learn when to dodge. His HB won’t lock you in place so you can easily dodge once you see him start the animation for it and either you or one of your team mates ought to have some form of condition cleanse to deal with the bleed stacks. If your entire team sits on him and melees him to death, he really shouldn’t live long enough to be a concern. The biggest hurdle to Zerk Meleeing is convincing the rest of your team that it’s the optimal strategy.

The trinity is a remnant of old times, as the technology and creativity goes forward the mechanics should change.

Technically, the trinity is a mainstreamed version of the classic pen and paper rpg system. Which is also more realistic, as a fighter or a mage wouldn’t have time to study both their main profession and healing. You don’t see many soldiers who are also doctors after all.

The trinity has to go for technical reasons, it’s not there because anyone lacks creativity or anything. It simply doesn’t work very well outside of its native format.

Well, it’s a mainstreamed version of DnD. Not many other pen and paper RPG’s have the same, or even a similar setup unless they are specifically DnD clones.

Also, I’d argue that a mage has absolutely no reason why they couldn’t learn healing. It’s magic. The only reason that exists in DnD is that healing is a traditionally divine art and mages use arcane magic, which isn’t well suited to that kind of thing.

… This is semantics, of course.

If Arena.net was to sum all the posts in one gigantic post, it would read, “Thief class core mechanics Nerf is Overdue!” – “slap on the wrist Nerf” is not allowed.

Arena.net, isn’t it too obvious.. the only class who gets the most Injustice Backlash in all thiefis blance/stealth thread is the thief class?

Than if it isn’t obvious, than why you remain Silent and continue in Justifying and Contributing (behind the sceen) more overpower tools to this Injust Overpower class?

Not forgetting intentionally rewarding this class with more undeserving rewards.
Torment, "does that ring a bell’?

After 1 year+, i realize all these great posts and threads concerning thief overpowerdness are just another trash to be thrown in the trashcan.

So many wonderful and beautiful ideas in oppinions, suggestion and recommendations to thief class balance and adjustments, are just reasons for Arena.net to reward them more.

As i stated many times already, “Thief is Arena.net” and Warrior is thier “side-kick”.

In other word, we are all “kitten”

So to the remaining non-Favorite justice blelieves, what are our options,

Should we continue in believing anything these Ego-savy Selfish Prideful Injustice Practicioners have to say? or "turn the other cheek or even; as the saying goes, “Turn away from those who practice Injustice and follow those who Emcbraces Justice”?

You have the power.
You hold the answer.
The choice is in ur hands..

That was really wordy and I don’t know exactly what you’re saying.

But if you follow the general trend of “stealth classes” in any game… like… any game ever… You’ll see that we’re always the “OMG UBER OP CLASS” (no matter the situation) there are always people calling for nerfs and there will always be a core group of people from that class fighting against it.

Are you talking about the class of thief as in “they are thieves therefore evil?” like, not even on a “this class is full of evil players who abuse the system” basis, but on a “this class is supposed to represent some malicious entity in the storyline of the game” kind of level?

Do you see these “buffs” as rewards? Do you really see thieves making use of torment… ever? I don’t.

I dunno, maybe I’m missing something here, but it seems to me you talked circles around yourself trying to make your statements sound important… when in reality they just came out garbled. It would be amazing if you could clarify your intent a bit.

No matter how many times i rewrite it,

it all comes about the same,

In othe word,

this is the best i can do.

For great justice.

Maybe that list would be considerably shorter if the duplicated were removed. for example they added a projectile finisher to the Harpoongun abilities, two patches in a row.

And tooltip fixes, those make up a lot aswell.

Dont forget about the stuff that was fixed, but reeeaaallly shouldve been fixed before the game even went live.

Did you cross out all the nerfs already? I hope you did, those would make up the majority of the bulletpoints.

And lets not forget all the redundant changes like “we added a range indicator to Box o Nails”. And, well.. never actually worked. Or other such pointless nonsense that just fills up bulletpoints for the sake of making it look like stuff was done. Like informing us that the change to Rampaging Brute also made it over to Elixir X.

Or the stuff they fixed two or even three times because they kept breaking it over and over.

I think you’ll end up with a considerably shorter list.

Every classes list would be considerably shorter given those qualifications. Quit playing a violin for your class and just take comfort that you’re not the ranger or Necro (in PvE, anyways)

4) Anti-Stealth Traps… yea, these are expensive but what other specific piece of WvW gear is specifically made to target a single class? NONE!

Near as I can tell, these are more useful for doing things like stopping stealthed zergs or catching the stealthed mesmer before he drops his portal down. I don’t think most people use them because they’re worried about the stray thief.

I dunno why you guys are wondering why his health is low. Clearly he had tooth at one point. It looks like tooth switched to and nailed the warrior who is apparently on the Rhs of the map. And who started the “special snowflake” phrase? That meme spread like wildfire. Everyone is calling each other that these days.

Edit: its just a matter of teamwork, but, ya, sword in melee is better, but if someone isn’t comfortable jumping/using stairs, would you rather have them possibly die? At least hes staying alive, doing dps, and taking tooth aggro. Thats more than I can say of a lot of people in that path in PUGs lol.

Sometimes range works. TA is one place, this instance is another. Unless you’re rT and just going to ele FGS it down in 2 s, of course, melee away.

“Special snowflake” has been around for at least the past half-decade. I’ve been using it throughout my tabletop roleplaying career.

It’s not a “euphemism for nerf” because the word nerf itself has been twisted from it’s original meaning.

Do you know what nerf meant as terms of changes in RPG rule sets of old? It was a term used to emphasis a change to an ability so severe that it’s effectiveness was like that of throwing a nerf dart at the enemy.

That may have been the genesis of the term, yes, but that isn’t the usage of the term now. The current usage is when anything is weakened purposefully, it is nerfed. Just as buffing is strengthening it.

If you want a good Guild Wars term for nerfing into oblivion … try Smiter’s Booning or Booning.

lol, people still try to reason with the “OMGIMAZERKICANHAZTHEBIGNUMBERSANDBEPROCAUSEMALIFESUX” people?

Post your idea and move along, you can’t argue with someone who is clearly berserk not only in gear but in their mind.

Insulting people isn’t a very good kind of an argument. I’d like to think that most of the ‘berserk’ players here presented reasonable responses. Your response is actually probably the most unreasonable post in the thread.

I didn’t place the hat on anybody head and we know who the usual zerks are answering the exactly same thing on every single post.

People come here saying: The world is currently A. It would be nice if it could be A+B. Zerks say: No its A and you are bad cause you don’t like A.

My post is simple. Don’t mind those usual mentally zerked users and just toss your opinion.

just in case, I don’t consider you cookie as one since we already had a talk on a different post and you seem to have an open mind, something most zerkers don’t have.

Ps. Warm the popcorn, zerkfans are about to wear the hat.

I think the main problem I have with A+B idea, is that there hasn’t really been an idea (that I’ve seen) that really increased the viability of defensive stats, without having a major impact on the current ‘meta’ of things. One thing I would definitely like to see be viable though, is condition damage. Even if it just resulted in one party slot being dedicated to a condition damage class, that would be pretty cool. A boss encounter that has an aura which permanently applies Weakness could achieve that, for example.

Support roles could probably be achieved (to a greater extent) if ANet took (what I’m led to believe) WoW did before Cataclysm. Seperate the buff supply throughout all the different classes. If you want protection, you have to take a guardian. If you want Fury, you have to take a Warrior. And so on. This kind of goes against ANet’s design ideas, though… probably.

I personally believe that, by necessity, we would have to shake up the current meta of things to cause any meaningful change that would give any salience to defensive stats.
