I cant blame anyone now because I’ll get another infraction. I have to keep thinking about how I’ll get framed for another one every time I post haha.

As for these dungeon forums… I view them as such: You know that stereotypical trailer park family? With the drunk parents who are always fighting and leave their children unattended for long periods of time? Only to check in to the wasted wreck of a caravan once every so often to yell at them to shutup and throw them moldy KFC drumstick… That’s this forums.

Swifts childhood surmised in a paragraph.

To be fair, I didn’t know it was moldy.

I agree wholeheartedly. But please stop treating people in PVT like they’re hitler.

I think I’ve done quite the opposite. The only thing I’ve said is that I feel the lack of damage is demonstrably noticeable. I certainly haven’t gone the route of calling PVTers selfish or implying that they’re nooby nooblords from Noobulon VIII.

I’m not saying that a single person in PVT gear is going to drag down the entire dungeon, otherwise I’d never run my own Cleric’s gear.

I am saying, however, that the difference in one person’s performance between gearsets is demonstrably different and if you had, say, three people geared out that way, the dungeon would indeed take much longer.

My time isn’t precious, but I don’t like staring at the same boss for near to five minutes because he was designed as a lazy hp sponge and we’re not kitted out to shred the sponge. Some of the zerker elitists and fanboys are kittenheads about it, but the fact still remains that it’s more efficient and ends fights faster. If people’s playstyles favor other stat spreads, that’s fine. I wear Cleric gear in dungeons many times because I like support and sometimes I’m just not on the ball enough to keep myself alive.

However, my damage output is demonstrably lower and battles take noticably longer. Even in dungeon parties I’ve run before.

You can handwave everything as being super complex and being unable to be proven because of all of these variables, but you can’t handwave the simple fact that you do tons more damage on bosses and most bosses are hp sponges that don’t pose a threat to anybody, Zerker gear or no.

Engineers have a few things that make them unappealing to a lot of players. Weapons and backpieces don’t tend to show on them because of kits and they tend to do -terrible- if not utilizing some complex setup.

Elementalists are similar, complexity-wise, but make up for that by having great special effects you can toss around and having a really good game-feel. Engineers just don’t have that same game-feel to a lot of players.

Don’t take any of that as fact, by the way, that’s just my opinion on why engineers are under-represented.

A simple observation made with an entirely snarky tone.

So… not a “simple observation”.

And I’m saying that I personally feel I do notice it when fights are dragging on for way longer than usual.

It wouldn’t be such a problem if bosses weren’t such atrocious HP sponges.

I can agree with that … but I really find it hard for you to be able to single any particular person out as the culprit for whatever lack of damage your feeling and then feel justified in kicking them, assuming they aren’t full zerkers! That’s just pure speculation and it’s scapegoating. If you want fast fights, be specific when making PUGs or don’t PUG at all.

Granted, people that say “these people deserve a kick” are kinda being kittens, but it’s their party, do what you want.

Eww, I can’t believe people think like this! It’s THEIR party? Unless I missed something, no one ‘owns’ a party or invests any more into being in that party than anyone else in it. I’m hoping I’m just misunderstanding here … but everyone contributing to the party deserves to be in it unless they are being malicious, AFK or something similar.

If I’m inviting you to do content with me and I have certain expectations, I am well entitled to kick you for failing to meet those expectations. I sent the invitation, I was the organizer.

Necros should never have been given burning.
Torch looks awesome, though.

I don’t think burning would have been such an issue if the necromancer’s had to give and take to have access to it. Having it as a weapon rather than just plopping it down in a very accessible section of a trait line would have done wonders for that imo.

I do agree OP. First thing me and my friends thought when we saw that weapon was necromancer, but then we died inside when we saw all the staff skins.

Don’t you have to go 25 into a traitline to do it? I contend that that isn’t exactly “very accessible”.

Of course, I simultaneously contend that it should have been a trait you have to choose, not one of the auto-traits.

Is the engineer weak/weaker in PvE?

in Engineer

Kirschwasser.3972

Well no. The knife is balanced against the fact that you -can- wield a pistol. The reason that kits aren’t given for free is because they give a toolbelt skill (which are generally very useful on their own) and because there ARE viable non-kit builds. Just because your main-hand weapon DPS suffers for a non-kit build doesn’t mean that it’s unviable. You have other skills to equip that may be able to narrow the gap.

But at the end of the day, if you wan tto achieve certain results, you have to choose certain options. If you want the most efficient damage, you have to choose a kit.

However, to put some points on your side of the argument, I do question why it’s necessary to kitten Engineer weapon damage because they have versatility. I’m fine with Grenade Kit being the best DPS solution for Engineers, I just wonder why that can’t be true AND the mainhand weapon can’t do full damage.

Either way, plenty of Engineer builds focus on pistol attacks and whatnot, so it’s not like their weapons are worthless.

Actually it’s painfully easy to notice, so long as there’s a moment where he’s the only one attacking a given mob.

That’s not true because the damage someone does is a perception. To make that statement, you need a quantitative way to measure a certain performance level for a player in a specific encounter AND determine what fraction of their performance is due to gear vs. their own skill. You, nor anyone else, has access to a tool like that. If a player is not performing to your standard, it could be a number of factors, gear being only ONE.

Furthermore … how many dungeons are there were a team has the opportunity to observe a single person fighting a mob with everyone else just sitting back and telling him how much they suck because they are making assumptions about his gear? Don’t bother … that’s a rhetorical question.

… Or I can look at one member of his class and weapon damaging a mob compared to watching him attack and damage a mob and go “Oh, hey, he’s like twice as slow.”

Or, as aforementioned, changing up my gear without changing my build and noticing that my damage was plummeting as a result.

And how many dungeons are there with that opportunity? A few times in TA, AC Story, SE p3…

Boohoo why can’t I do dailies with my alts and get the extra laurels!

Boohoo why can’t I do my monthly with my alts and get the extra laurels!

I’m sure there’s other crap too but circumventing time limitations by abusing alts leaves me with little sympathy.

Now those who legitimately want to get gear from a dungeon for multiple characters, that I can understand the complaint. Maybe make it so that tokens are character bound…problem solved!

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I have 6 level 80s, so I have 6x as many weapons and pieces of armor to get as someone with only 1. Why is it such a big deal if I can gear them all in the same amount of time as a person with 1 gears if I put in 6x the work? With this change, I’m not allowed to put in more work than someone with 1 character, and instead just have to do it for 6x more days.

I guess the only solid reason is that the rewards are account bound and not soulbound and that they did not want people that spend hours a day grinding away on GW2 to get a massive leg up over more casual players by using those account bound things to gear up one character super quickly.

Anyways, Anet just needs to overhaul their dungeon design to be more interesting and require something other than raw DPS. If they rebalanced the numbers on incoming damage on players and the mechanics of a fight, you could potentially see different stat types becoming more viable.

As it is, when people aren’t wearing Zerkers in certain fights, it really shows and is really painful. Some bosses that are usually quick kills turn into unbelievably sluggish slogs.

I’m just glad that gear in WvW and PvP is a degree more diverse so I can actually use other gear-types.

You do understand that the LFG announces that are THAT strict for gear usually tend to be CoF farming runs that intent to do like 1h or 2h straight dungeon farming, not a single run right?

That or they look for DPS players for Arah path 4.

I’m at work atm, can’t check; but last time it wasn’t only for COF. It is a stupid trend getting more attached to kids heads nowadays.

BTW; I did Arah 4 a few times (got my dungeon master last year and Im not a zerk warrior) and the smoothest runs are always with balanced teams. All Zerks tend to fail/skip/pull few mobs quite often. I preffer to pull ten mobs and not fail instead of watching my steps inside, that demands lot of time as well. Though I admit that Simin fight last year was ridiculous. I don’t know how it is today but it did need tonz of damage to get through.

Just got on gw2lfg.com. Read over the entire list. There was precisely one group asking for Zerkers and it was for a CoF farming group. (Why are they farming it still? There’s no gold!)

Everyone else is asking either for level 80 characters or just experienced players.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yeah, I think having an option to make AoE circles be a bright hornet yellow instead of red would help colorblind players.

One of my irl friends is r/g colorblind and a significant amount of male players suffer from colorblindness, many without even realizing it. Strangely, it’s less prevalent in females overall.

Anyways, that’s all beside the point. A simple toggle for Color-Blind mode ought to help and it only takes like ten minutes of research to find a viable alternative (IE: Anything not derivative of red or green.)

Also: League of Legends has an option for teams to be blue and purple, I believe. I remember Team Fortress was specifically set up as Red vs Blue because it’s easier to differentiate Gray from Blue than it is Gray from Gray for colorblind players.

A zerker Warrior in AC can solo down a mob or graveling mound very very fast. A guy in Soldier gear takes much longer as he’s neither getting many crits, nor are his crits are doing much damage.

I just as often run a support Guardian in Cleric’s gear as I run a Zerker guardian traited for melee party support. The damage difference is simply insurmountable. I use the same traitlines in either build, just switch talents around… but I’ve tested doing Clerics stats in my Zerker build and it’s like fighting in molasses.

MF Gear was just wrong. Anet realized their mistake. Account-bound mf gear will be much better, as it’ll allow you to diversify your farming experience through several characters, while having them stronger than they would be with MF gear as well.

So, I’ll be able to get 200% MF on my account constant like I can on my ranger??? That’d be awesome… but I some how don’t think it is going to play out like that.

I expect there will be more MF consumables or they’ll buff the ones that already exist. Or they’ll give you a way to earn account-bound Magic Find bonuses.

Besides, turning your .01% chance into .03% isn’t that big of a deal to lose. It was the only stat available on gear that did precisely zero things to help gameplay. That’s bad design, whether you wanted it or not.

Designers don’t design around what you want. That’s just how it works.

Well, ultimately this is a design fault. There are plenty of people that like to do things efficiently and don’t understand why you wouldn’t choose to be efficient. There is absolutely nothing wrong with their way of thinking and ultimately the fault is more on design than on players.

Not to say that some of the players aren’t kittens about it, just to say that this is a natural evolution stemming from the way the game is designed.

We can only hope for more diverse enemy encounters and designs that make raw DPS less valuable than it is now and causes things like conditions or non-dodge based survivability to be more valuable.

I think we’re slowly seeing the design get better in PvE content, personally, and we’ve been told that the latter half of this year will be focused on improving existing dungeons. So maybe, before too long, other gear-types can be seen as more valuable than they are at present.

Honestly, it’s absolutely not hard to find a non-zerker dungeon group. You’re complaining about being looked down upon by Zerkers but that’s, what? On the forums? In the occasional PUG?

I think the concern is with the growing mentality in the game that non-zerker is not acceptable. And it is becoming more prevelent. Soon this issue is going to be just like UWSC. Either you conform, or you simply dont do it.

… Except I used to do UWSC all the time in GW1 without conforming to the meta for it.

So what you’re saying is that it’s going to become an issue in the sense that people are going to continue to complain about what -might- happen, but is easily avoided.

You realize its not ‘UWSC’ if you’re not ‘conforming to the meta’ correct?

The speed clear was an ele, a necro, a rit, and a bunch of flippin sins…occassionally they’d allow a terratank ele for wastes but not often. At the end if you didnt have 100s of stones and maxed pve skills, most groups wouldnt take you.

If you tried to find ‘other’ types of groups to do it (like old school balance) you’d get laughed out of ToA. It was SC or bust.

Been there, done that. DONT want to see it happen again, and we are well on the path to it. The ‘zerk’ warrior, mes, or guard only requests are becoming more and more prevelant. The sc sickness is starting to take over for dungeons, in less than a year, so I’d say we have a justifiable concern.

I actually realized it shortly after posting it, but didn’t bother changing it assuming that my point would ultimately get across anyhow.

My point ultimately was that I had no issue finding groups to go to Underworld with and I wasn’t doing SC and I see absolutely no indication of this taking over dungeons aside from the forums.

I wonder why people are not helpful if you’re such a respectful and nice person?

salazan can be done without vigour or swiftness or even a movement speed sigil. why? because that’s how I did it – my mesmer had vigour but I avoided dodging as much as I could.

first off: don’t try to leave the ring. the ring is your space limiter and you have to stay inside.
secondly: the ground below your feet gets warm, so you have to move around while not moving into areas still hot from before (spiraling or just zigzagging)
and lastly: the fire attacks moving towards you are pretty slow and can be avoided by walking alone. this also reduces the risk of dodgeing into the flame ring or another projectile. stay on the safe side though, as their hitbox is pretty large.

that’s all that’s necessary to win this fight. just move around while autoattacking salazan.

if you can’t do this after several tries, then the gauntlet isn’t for you. either you can get better or you have to accept the fact that there are parts of the game you will not be able to do.

next time, try to ask nicely instead of insulting the people giving you help and you might get an answer sooner.

I know it can be done… I’ve done it… Is it a challenge? No… Not really… Is it dependant on skill? No, not really… Is it dependant on any factor beside luck as a ranger? nope… The gimmick to the ring, is dependant on block, which rangers dont actually have except for one GS skill which can only block melee attacks… Without block, there’s basicly nothing you can do aside from being lucky… Either by not having a second ring cast right after the first… Or with the pattern he sends the waves as… If he sends in certain patterns, you’re either dead or using every CD you have to stay alive once… And then you have nothing for the second ring which he’ll just repeat the same pattern…

You’re consistently being given statements that contradict your belief, and you’ve consistently decided to brush it off and say “Nope, only luck. All luck, always luck. I don’t care how you did it, it was luck.”

I’m sorry that you’re such a perfect player that nothing we can say to you will help improve you and all of our accomplishments have nothing to do with our skill, but are purely based on luck.

I sincerely don’t understand why people continue to respond.

… I say as I respond.
