The Orrian undead were raised by Vizier Khilbron who was being manipulated by Abaddon.

… Right?

I could be wrong about that one.

Also weren’t the Am Fah being heavily manipulated by Shiro and thus kinda Abaddon by proxy?

(we can’t have pure dervishes anymore, seeing as their main concept of faith only refers to the human gods)

There could be converts among the non-human races. There probably would be converts.

Any Charr who converted to the worship of the Human Gods would be cast out of the legions (at best). They would be a complete non-person, not even good enough to be Gladium. This would require a brand new 1-30 story path just for that race/class combo, including a new Mentor character since Rytlock would probably be leading the charge to separate their head from their body.

There will never be PC Dervishes in GW2.

While I don’t support or believe in adding Dervishes to the game, I think it’d be easy enough to just do a class-specific 1-30 story for new professions added to the game. It’d be the easiest to reconcile. Not unlike how they did the Death Knight in WoW.

She loudly announces the fact that she has bombs in Divinity’s Reach during her attack. A smart terrorist wouldn’t say that.

The goal of terrorism is fear, not casualties.

She also did that to shepherd the evacuees to one area… which she then bombed with a bomb she did not mention.

Scarlet events ppl failing it to farm champs

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: Kirschwasser.3972

Kirschwasser.3972

Call me dumb but I honestly dont see how you can farm the invasion event by “failing” and just killing champs. Since killing champs and assorted mobs is the entire point, farming make you go through the waves faster and finish it in time. Killing champs slower to keep the event open longer would be silly, since you’d kill less champions. Of course zergs will stack around commanders to cause champions spawn, around 3-4 per event. Yes you get a ton of bags. I got some 35 champ bags + scarlet loot the very first invasion I did yesterday. We were intent on finishing it and did so with 1 minute to spare.

It’s a classic example of people theorizing that a problem could exist and then posting as though the problem actually does exist.

I don’t think crazy = popular. There have been quite a few crazy (and not horribly popular) villains in the game so far (e.g. the dredge are pretty nuts). I think it is more the manic dialog (which happens to be well written and voice acted).

I like the character but her debut wasn’t exactly handled well (oddly, this is the same problem Trahearne had…he is much better when you get the sylvari personal story with the rest of it). She just sort of pops out of no where and we’re told she is this super smart person that has never ever been mentioned in the game before today. Then there is the problem with her character seemingly contradicting the master mind that has been behind the living story to date. We didn’t have any indication that the person apparently leading all these different groups is so manic. So she comes across a bit like a joker-clone because don’t know anything about her other than her being a big bad and manic. I do hope they back fill some of the story in the coming updates and I hope they do it in such a way that isn’t so “here is a character, ta da”.

She has actually been mentioned subtly throughout the living story since Flame and Frost.

Indeed. The problem is we were given no indication she was going to be manic. The impression I was getting was that she was more…subtle. I mean, she was doing things behind the scenes for over half a year and suddenly she puts on a huge show for us? What?

I meant in general in pop culture.

PVE – Zergfest.

This. A thousand times.

This latest patch caters only to the elite “hardcore” players. If you are not one of the people who have map completion, voice software (in any of god knows how many flavors), and top end gear, you can pretty much forget these map events. You will break your bank trying to teleport to waypoints (if you are lucky enough to have all of them) and if you aren’t within melee range of the person leading the zerg, you will miss out on a huge percentage of the loot.

Three times now I’ve lost champ loot because I arrived about 10 seconds after the main group did and spent another 15 trying to get the kittening targeting system to actually target the champ, which it never did.
The last Scarlet event I never even made it to because I was stuck “in combat” with a champion that everyone just up and left to go kill Scarlett.

If you aren’t “uber” at GW2, this patch will net you nothing but loss.

… Err… What? I only have half world completion (Yeah, I’m lazy, shut up.) and top end gear. No voice software or anything and Im ake this just fine. How will you break your bank on waypoint costs? Not only are the waypoints cheaper due to the Cutthroat Politics resolution but you earn WAY more money through doing the event.

I’d have to check through old content, but I’m pretty sure we’ve had ambient NPCs referring to some cities with nicknames since launch. I understand why it might sound jarring to some, but we’re experimenting with dialog to make it sound a little more natural.

I’m almost positive there was never a single instance of Divinity’s Reach being referred to as “DR” until Faren called it that in the Southsun event. Since launch, every NPC that ever called it by any kind of shorthand simply called it “Divinity.” I may be wrong, though. I agree that it feels very, very jarring when referred to as “DR.”

Most characters speak a little more properly than others. Lord Faren and Scarlet are absolutely the sort to be completely irreverent when referring to things.

Supposedly they have a rotating pool of… I think four teams? So one team puts out content, then two weeks later another team puts out content, then two weeks later another team puts out content, et cetera. That means, on average, each team has about two months to work on the next release.

Mind you, that setup is fairly new, sooooo… I don’t think it was fully implemented by the time this particular content was being developed.

I completely disagree. Scarlet was a lot of fun, and I really enjoy her character. You guys are being way too critical—I think Anet did a great job of mixing cartoon-villain humor with serious situations.
As for her education, it was hinted at that there was some sort of deception involved there—so we don’t know for sure. And anyway, if the Asura can play the “I’m super educated” card, why can’t a Sylvari? I find it intriguing that she was permitted to attend Asuran college at all… this opens up potential for a whole cultural exploration of the Asuran colleges and outside races.

Where do you get off telling people how to feel or when they have the ability to voice their opinions? The overall feel of the character is borderline check list for lazy villain making. You’re welcome to your opinion but let people have theirs.

… He just stated his opinion that you’re being too critical. Way to overreact, son.

I also fundamentally disagree with the premise of your discussion, Fortus. Screaming at the top of your lungs that elementalists are underpowered isn’t going to make it more true. They’ve been decent at several aspects of the game for a long time and while they might be wavering here and there overtime, they’re not by any means terribly underpowered.

In fact, elementalists are often appreciated in dungeons. So… I dunno. Really sounds like a L2P issue where you expected that sleeving into a new build meant you were automatically going to be better instead of actually learning how to utilize it.

Map exploration definitely helps earn xp. I also used to do a lot of events around release to get xp. Once you hit level 30, do AC because that’s practically a free level right there. I think they nerfed xp gain on multiple runs though.

AC Explorable isn’t terribly hard for experienced players and you may find groups will to take you once you hit level 35 and that can be an easy way to gain multiple levels.

Once you hit 40, do CM. Yadda yadda yadda.

If you had the money, though, crafting I hear is the easiest way to get to 80.

Guardian; PVT or Zerker?

in Guardian

Posted by: Kirschwasser.3972

Kirschwasser.3972

No it doesn’t. If someone wants to wear PVT and slow down a run, they can find a different group.

I’m going to recommend you have a full look at the thread … this has already been debunked as nonsense unless your lost seconds (not minutes) are that valuable to you. A player’s gear has a very small impact on the overall runtime.

In fact, the time you lose being selective about team mates or replacing the guy you kicked with someone else will be much greater than the time you lose running a dungeon with people who are not full zerker. Whatever. No one said logic was a per-requisite for playing MMO’s.

You see, the thing is that those seconds and minutes are very valuable when you are speedrunning and farming rewards. They add up quite fast and you don’t seem to have a concept of this. Being selective beforehand prevents constant wipes and not being able to finish dungeons, so you are eliminating possibility of failure before you start. Letting anyone in that may or may not care about how to play and is most likely going to be bad is a very good way to have a very bad time.

Also, a player’s gear has a very large impact on clear times and is usually a good indicator of how good or bad they are. If you have a bad player using bad gear like PVT, they will slow the run down, pull aggro in certain areas, kite bosses or mobs around and have no idea what they are doing, and slow things down due to terrible DPS. A bad player wearing Berserker’s gear will either learn to adapt or die and let the better players finish the encounter without them. Then they will learn the hard way, and that will help them. A very skilled player using PVT will still slow down encounters because they simply don’t output high damage and the survivability will serve no purpose. A very skilled player using Berserker’s gear will provide strong DPS and not slow the run down. Gear is one side of the equation, player skill is the other side. This is a concept that you need to understand and clearly don’t.

I want an official statement from ANet, not speedclear runners, that non-“zerk” gear is “selfish” and the wrong way to play GW2. People continuously fail to understand that not all players are suited for Berserker’s gear playstyle, and that using anything else has nothing to do with lacking skill or being selfish (or altruistic, for that matter.) All stats gear is there for a reason, giving many different choices for players to gear up in ways that suit better their individual playstyle and builds-it’s not a matter of morality or being “bad.”

So much trolling in this thread-accepting such exclusivist philosophy (“there is only one way to properly gear up for Dungeons”) also means that it should be “OK” to have gear checks, which clearly Anet disagrees with, and for good reason.

An official statement from Anet isn’t going to make people change their mind on it. Anet’s intentions and Anet’s execution are not one and the same, otherwise they wouldn’t be patching things and trying to balance things out.

I also can’t really see the logic of making poor gear and gameplay choices meaning anything other than being “bad”. How can you be bad at the game if being bad at the game isn’t an indicator of being bad at the game?

Until Anet does something to actually design the game differently, their opinion doesn’t really change fact anymore than the average players, unless they start backing up that opinion with like… I dunno, bans or something.

If you don’t like the way “elitists” think… then don’t play with elitists and pay their comments no mind. Afterall, you believe they’re trolling. It really is not hard to avoid people you don’t wanna play with in this game.

So… I think we can agree that if it is an exploit, Anet will fix it. If it is not, Anet will not. They’ve been fixing most farm-related exploits throughout the game’s life and even if you believe they won’t fix it because Anet hates you or something… then complaining about it still isn’t doing anything.

If WP started crediting people for their theories, at some point we’ll have the scenario whereby he credits someone who had the same idea as someone else. It’ll just end up being a battle of “who came up with it first”, which can only get ugly. Either that, or Konig Fanboys march on Seattle petitioning ArenaNet to ban WP from making any more videos.

If you use some elses research, it’s common to give them proper credit. In some cases not properly crediting your sources can make you loose your job. Don’t believe me? Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg, formerly germanies minister of defense. Not anymore. Why? Because he didn’t credit his sources in doctoral thesis. When a journalist found this out, he lost his doctor title and his job.

Now this is just a game, but giving credit where credit’s due, is just decent human behaviour.

It’s a lore video, made by a guy who likes making videos. They entertain many people, myself included. And do you know what? I don’t even care who came up with the theories, even if he did find a way to ascertain who really was the very first person to come up with a theory (which I imagine is far easier said than done in some cases).

His videos are concise snippets of lore and theorising. He always seems to make clear what is theory and what is in-game fact. Anyone who has spent any time on these forums knows that “The Great and Powerful Konig” is the self proclaimed god of lore anyway, so there’s a pretty decent bet who came up with the initial theory in the first place.

Frankly, anyone watching a video that’s not from ArenaNet’s official channel really should be taking it with a pinch of salt anyway. If it ‘aint from ArenaNet’s official channel there’s a good chance it’s all just a pack of lies. Whilst I love watching WP’s videos for a variety of reasons, I always run by this basic principle.

So please, get off your high horse… or correct all my grammar like forum-goers usually resort to. That’s the next logical step, right?

Concise is hardly what I’d call his videos, he tends to ramble on a lot and retread the same territory a lot.

Also: I thought we all agreed to stop doing the whole “Yer just gonna do x like everybody else” argument back in middle school.

In any case, my issue with WoodenPotatoes is that everyone else seems to take his theories as fact, even when they’re somewhat grasping at straws and then you have people fervently defending his wild theory as though it were abject fact.

That’s not really a problem with WP, though, so much as it’s a problem with fans being fans.
