Build XX/XX/13 Content Update Release Notes
LIVING WORLD
Events

  • Certain group events and meta events will now have/show a countdown before starting to give time to players to gather up.
  • Bosses in group events will hit lighter when their life is above 98% and they are attacked only by one person.
  • An extra factor has now been added to the rewards of the events in Tyria. Event rewards will now scale slightly higher depending on their distance from the nearest Waypoint. Contested waypoints will be considered Inactive.
  • Some events will now spawn item rewards. These rewards will range from a single tier 6 crafting materials to a very rare chance to get a philosofer stone. The item will spawn as a chest at the feet of the player upon the event’s completion.
  • Groupe Events will now grand item rewards.
  • Events that are left unchalenged for a long time, or fail often by the player will now get a “Distress” icon and upon completing them the player will get an item reward.
  • When a Groupe event also has a “Distress” icon, the item reward will have a higher chance to be of better quality.
  • Large meta event chains such as the Seraph Assault on Centaur Camps in Harathi Hinterlands, or The Temple of Balthazar in Straits of Devastation will now keep track of how early you chalenged the meta event and increase your chance of getting better items from the final chest.

Scouts & Heralds

  • Scouts will now give the player an option to give exposition on the area, even when the players has completed all the nearby renown hearts.
  • Scouts will now have an option to point the player to the nearest event in progress, even if that event is away from the player.
  • Heralds in each major City will now give detailed report on larde scale and meta events around Tyria that are in progress. The report contains the current stage of the meta event, the time since it started, and they will have the option to point it on your map.

Visual and Animation changes

  • New emotes have been added such as: /flirt, /kiss, /joke, /bored and /train.
  • Now typing /sit near an unoccupied chair will cause the character to sit on that chair instead of the floor.
  • Characters now have an Eating and Drinking animation.
  • You now have the option on the option menu to silence the noises your character makes during emotes. This does not effect the lines he/she speak during these emotes.
  • A second model of Hair styles has been added for each hair style. Now when equiping a headgear that only partially covers a character’s head, the hair model for partially exposed hair will take place and the character will no longer become bald underneath. Certain equipment had their visuals slightly changed to corespond with this change. (ex: Size/height of the head gear got slightly altered to match the universaly revealed head part. In rare Ascalonian Leather Hat removed the leathers that cover the head.)
  • A special teleportation effect will appear when the character is changing locations through waypoints.

Cities

  • Now All capital cities have a mystic forge, a guild mission vendor and a portal to the mysts.
  • New Jumping puzzles have been added to all capital cities.
  • Chat in all Capital cities is now linked.

  • The new looking for groop system icon will now appear on the uper left corner.
  • In the LFG you can choose to Create or Join a party, or let the LFG system send you automatically where you are needed the most for an additional reward with the Quick Join option.
  • Upon creating a party you can write comments for the players to read. If the comment is writen, the joining player will be shown the comment and treated to an option to accept or not before joining. Otherwise he will join automatically.
  • Certain presset conditions for Joining such as being a specific proffession, being equiped with exotics, having knowlege of the dungeon, or wanting to speed run can be chosen from a list upon creating the party.
  • In order to create a party on the LFG system, that dungeon must be unlocked from the creators end.
  • Joining players have the option to focus, ignore or avoid presset conditions before auto-joining a dungeon.
  • In order to create or join a group to a certain dungeon will require you to have discovered the entrance to that dungeon on the map.

Loading chat

  • During loading from one zone to another the Chat and party invites will now remain visible and functioning.
  • The area chat during loading will be that of the area you are visiting and not the one of the area you came from.

I never asked anyone to stop making videos. I just said that theirs are not as good as WP and Dontain on the Entertainment aspect, obviously since WP and Dontain are pretty much showmen. It just bothers me how every few episodes they release one where they show and analise their builds, and I thoght that, “there’s got to be a similar video for engineers out there somewhere!….”.

I mainly follow Dontain and Wooden Potatoes channels on you tube, but the problem with those is that the use Worrior and Elementalists and focus entire videos around them and their builds.

Is there any channel out there that uses/ focus/ shows builds with an Engineer?

Current problem:
Guild Wars 2 is an MMO that actually rewards exploration, but once an area is explored you’ll know right away afterwards where each Jumping puzzle/ gathering node/ hiden treasure chest/ event hot spot is…
There is no point in re-exploring the explored.

Solution:
Have these stuff appear randomly on certain key deferent location each day.
Example: Have the entrance bush for the Spelunker’s Delve Caledon Forest Jumping Puzzle appear on a different bush out of 5 in caledon forest each day. All should lead up on the same place! Don’t have to build the same JP in several deferent places. Just have several deferent entrances.

How about Typing /sit to make the character sit in the nearest empty chair. If there is no free chair around, then the character will sit on the floor.
It’s kind of nerving how everyone in the game is standing on his feet all the time. I get tired just by looking at them. Having some npcs sit on chairs or benches in the cities while talking will make them feel much more relaxing and the world much more real! Also it would be nice for players for roleplaying.

The race high problem can be dealt with by designing all chairs and benches to be on the same hight, and then have each race sit on a default hight.

However you sort of countered your own argument. Yes Ascended is better than Exotic, however it will still take someone nearly a full month to get the necklace and even shorter for a ring. In that time, people will still want to have something good while they work towards the goal, therefore Exotic is still relevant. Not to mention the person will make their money back before they even get their Ascended version easily.

No. It takes 1-2 hours a day for half a month.
Just focus/grind your daylly PVE and PVP each day.
Then put a little effort to finish what’s left of the monthly on weekends, and Voila. You get 2 Laurels each day (62 a month) plus 20 for the monthlies (62+20=82), and there you are! In a signle month you releaved your self from looking on any trinket bellow ascended! Since trinket are stupid expensive to make (even rares need ecto), from my point of vew, it’s even harder to get an exotic trinket than an ascended one!

Why did we even get the Ascended rarity again?
Oh yeah!
The exotics weren’t rare enough!…

As you said, now jeweling is for the 5% who is making alts, and from them the 5% who bother to spend money on TP to dress them! Do the math: (5/100)*(5/100)=0.25% of people will buy the crafted junk of all the game’s Jewelers…

As the tittle said, the top tier of Jeweling gear can now be aqquired even during the leveling period, by just making sure you do your daylly and monlthly. Nobody will buy my crafted stuff now, and in a few months, nobody will bother with any exotics.

Let’s face it!
We have no reason to level Jeweling anymore, since Ascended stuff are so much better and so much easier to aquire. All they have to do is focus on their dayllies for half a month, and voila! They’ll never have to even look again to exotic rings and amulet, let alone the crafted ones!

As you can see, what bugs me the most in this content is how easy is to aquire Ascended gear…
You can pretty much get all the needed Laurels by playing 1 hour each day for a month, even during leveling, and if they give extra Laurels for the other one-time Achivement, it will become a joke!
Now I feel that all the time and money I spend on my Jeweling proffession is wasted. Some dayllies force you craft random junk, but then you’ll have nothing to do with them!
I hate MMO’s abandoning their old content and GW2 is becoming one of them!

I’ve played a good amount of hours and here is my feedback…

Laurels
Nice addition for one reason! They stack on the character and unlike the mystic coins, they cannot be sold. However they are now the second valuable currency that you get exclusivelly from dayllies and Monthlies, and they kinda make me wish the mystic coins were given from somewhere alse (got some ideas).
The rewards make me wonder if A-net overdid it a little, as many of the stuff feel like things that would fit much better on the gem shop, as they could make some stuff there absolute.
Also, putting ascended stuff there, will make people to ignore the rest of the stuff, as everyone will most likelly hoard their Laurels for them.

Orr
Again, it’s much apreciated. Orr was very densly populated by mobs, that made it very annoying to traverse. This was supposed to be the final area, yet it was a pain to play, so whatever improvements are wellcome. Not sure about the rise in tier 6 mats though. If I wanted to make them less rare, I would have given them as an extra reward for groupe events or unpopular events to draw people there.
Now the next thing I expect to improve there is the underwater content, and the underwater content of GW2 in general.

WvW
Much needed were the character placeholders! I finally know who’s hitting me! If no serious bugs appear in the future, I would like this to appear in the rest of the world.

Dungeons
Much apreciated! The dungeons now are a bit less borring and less fraustrating. Not all problems have been fixed, as I didn’t see in the patch notes any reason to redo a personal story (didn’t spend the time to try it) aside from fixing dificulty spikes and make the nessessary changes for the abolisment of res-rushing. Now we need a few more check points, some buff for the low level players that don’t know what’s comming to them and perhaps make them a bit shorter in duration.

Class Fixes
My engineer’s potions are as random as ever. Thanks for the bug fixes and the scalling turrets though.

Ascended stuff (aka R.I.P. Jeweler dicipline)
As the tittle said, the top tier of Jeweling gear can now be aqquired even during the leveling period, by just making sure you do your daylly and monlthly. Nobody will buy my crafted stuff now, and in a few months, nobody will bother with any exotics.
Makes me woried if they are a bit to easy to aquire…

Living story
Seen all those dead refuges and stuf, but nothing extrordinary… It’s only the beginning of course, and hopefully they won’t do any importand event before my examination period end. I had very deferent expectations though. Nobody bothers with Personal story anymore…

Sorry for the bad inglish, but I was writing this in a hurry…

This video sums up my concerns with the voice acting and personality of this character.

That’s just sad…
And I don’t meant Azure’s comment or video…

To Trahearne’s voice actor defence I think he acted that way with a certain sophisticated type of character in mind, but because of the simple style of talking cutscenes, the complete absence of any director’s work, and the character’s simple in-engine character model, the character ended up being just boring.

Personally it feels like all of JS’s music here is part of the same song.
He REALY didn’t bring his A-game here, and it shows. Orr practically has no soundtrack.
All areas in the game suffer from feeling the same, and that is enchanced by the music. There is no such thing as a single tone or theme for an area, and everything seeps to be playing at random!

While A-net nailed certain sound effects (like shooting or walking to sertain surfaces) they completly failed at others, namelly the voice acting (mostly during the story) and the Music!
I didn’t expect Music at the level on of WoW, but I at least expected that fighting in Caledon Forest would have some deferent music than “everywhere”!

IMO Jeremy Soule was a bad pick for Guild Wars 2!
He did a fantastic work with GW1 and other games, but he clearly didn’t take GW2 seriously and he clearly lacks the variety to dress all those deferent races and areas.
For Example: Have you noticed in his other games how he is reconginised for each by a single song, and the rest are just dressings?

Whithout good music, or top tier graphics, a horible launch trailer and no CG trailer or intro It’s no wonder that it didn’t draw the attention of it deserved.

Eventually level increases will come out, new tiers will come out, etc. This is the path of a modern MMO. If you don’t like it… well, not a lot you can do about, huh?

Of course! The power creep! How could we forget that beast!?

This beast however appears once in 2 years when they want to sell us a new expansion.
Now we are only on the 4rth month, there is no expantion, and the only think we might pay for is a quagan bag. Their strategy should be to keep us into the game, and the best way “not to do that” is to render our existing work worthless.
Powercreeping has it’s up and downs as it allows for new commers to have achange to keep up with old players, but It WAY to early for that!

There should be a long road to the top tier weapon, and that road should be tread through the older content.

As someone who was against new gear and not really a dungeon player, I was surprised how easy it was to get my first ascended ring. Now I am well over half way to the backpiece. Yes it is a little bit of a grind, but the loot in FotM is good to very good and once you know the levels, they can be fun/challenging. I highly suggest doing them as a guild party to reduce rage quit and grief at the early levels.

However, why not use Karma? Make it very high cost but still use a currency obtained for many sources

We’ll have to see how they play out.
What wories me is that I plan to start doing dungeons after the 28jan patch (hated the rez-rush tactics and HPbucket enemies) and the rewards for those are currently mostly exotics! What reason do I have to do them if the rewards are only exotics, that are about to get outdated once the rest of the ascended set get released.

I strongly suggest a use for exotics you get from explorables, ether as ingridiences or to put them on the MF along with other rare stuff to upgrade them to ascended.
If geting the rest of the ascended gear is as easy as it currently is, then exotics are done for, so it’s only natural to find a deferent use for them.

Nice to see more people hate and avoid the curent Engineer’s random skills!
That means that there is a better chance to get rid of this randomness in an upcoming patch.

An alternative to the Elixir H charging is:
Drink it instantly: Heals some ammound and grands a random boon between protection, regeneration or swiftness.
Charge it 1/3: The elixir will always grand protection.
Charge it 2/3: The elixir will always grand protection and regeneration.
Charge it 3/3: The elixir will always grand protection, regeneration and swiftness.

I haven’t played an elementalist, so I don’t know how charging skills work, but I asume they work like my shield skill and you can release them the right moment for the result.

Worrying: Asceneded gear replacing Exotics.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kite.2510

Well, you need to complete the first 9 levels of fractals before you get a chance at obtaining a ring so maybe those levels will act as sort of a barrier between rares and ascended? This depends on how they implement laurels too though. As well as future ascended gear.

No it is not…
As people said above, in this game you can pretty much overcome anything with skill and Fractall before 10 are not that hard to justify a full exotic gear.
And people will relly on it, looking for parties for fractals while they are dressed in greens, to go directly to Ascended.
The point is for the game to have enough content to keep people bussy for a long time (and that was a criticism at launch), and by agreeing that Crafting is useless and it’s naturall for someone who just reached the end level to go directly for the best gear in the game, you are not fixing it’s length problems.
IMO they should Have an MF recipe that says "combine 4 Exotics of the same type to get X tier 7 crafting component for Ascended items.
Also they should make all exotics infusable (like some ascended) to make them a nessessary tier before the last one.

Crafting is a good portion of the game, and so are exotic items. Why do they have to become useless?
For a moment there I though that A-net was against the abandoning of old content…

other than that; it could be nice, but i dont use elixirs enough to comment extensively (the cast time on some things that other professions get instantly;along with the randomness annoys me)

I’ve been playing this game ever since the second beta yet I never noticed this.
It must be because the skill description on the potion sey “casts a random spell”.

My point is that Random skills are unreliable, and none of the good Engineers use them!
The Proffession is already considered weak, so I see no point not to impliment this, aside from having to give a “Shaking potion” animation to all races!

Worrying: Asceneded gear replacing Exotics.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kite.2510

We can all agree that exotics where not rare enough to justify an end game content, that doesn’t mean that they were not rare or hard to get. When a top tier item appears all people will target it from the very bottom!

I’m worrying that once complete ascended sets appear on the world, people will completly ignore the exotics that we worked so hard to make and craft and go directly to them, and crafting diciplines will become meantingless.

I know cause it happened to vanila WoW. The Items that people crafted couldn’t possibly match the epic items that droped from raid dungeons in the end game, and the proffessions became meaningless. Later they changed them so Masters of each proffession could craft and use certain usefull items excusive to them, to ballance the proffession usefullness.

In GW2 I saw a neat idea whith the introduction of acseneded gear, implimented backwards. That is having a certain murderus condition being fightable only with a certain rarity of equipment.
This would have forced people to go through Exotic gear before they start building their own ascended, instead of jumping directly to them!
Instead:
The rarity that can fight agony is already the top tier set.
The acsended equipment require only Fractals, dayllies and perhaps the mystic forge but no mention of crafting.
People wont have much reason not to bypass exotics, as all they have to do is to play in greens and yellows for some time untill they get their own ascended.

In WoW they forced you go through all tiers of items before going for epics, buy having all end level raid-dungeons doing insane fire damage, forcing players to build first fire resistance by gathering the last tiers, thus giving a last use for lower tier items before epics.

Why isn’t agony resistance given to exotics?
If ascended are just a step before legendaries, then why don’t they require a combined effort of all of the game’s activities and can be aquired by just dungeon runing or doing dayllies?

Party names and Condition removing.

I love removing condition from my party!
One of my favorite Elixirs are Elixir C that when thrown it replaces one condition with a boon! (And when I drink it it replaces all my conditions with boons)

There is one problem.
In the chaos of battle I can’t tell which allys have conditions. I might try to notice condition visual effects like a character being green by poison and such, but it’s hard to distinuish if a green sylvari in green armour is even greener than before…
The best think I can do is to look at the party stats on the left of the screen and then try to figure out the sick ally by Face because the party stats don’t show character names.

It’s obvious that the game needs some changes if we want to put those support skills to good use.

1. Put red dots for each removable condition bellow each ally’s life bar in the field. The condition doesn’t have to be specified as there is no skill that removes specific conditions.
2. Maky the party names visible in the party roster. Or at least give us an option and make them visible by default.

Engineer: Charging Elixirs vs Random results.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kite.2510

Kite.2510

One of the main problems with the Engineer proffession is how unreliable some skills are due to their random results.

For Example, Elixir U’s tossing ability is usually very usefull and it can ether create a reflecting wall, a line of smoke, or a line that turns you invisible. Yet it’s use in battle can be very limited, as you might toss it in order protect your self from projectiles, and have the invisibility wall come up, or toss it to have your party blind a slow-but-hard hitting enemy, and have the reflecting wall come up with the oposite effects of what you want.

Now most of these skills are elixirs, and I believe there should be a way to fix this, but it’ll need one extra animation for the character.

What if those elixirs where chargable?
Charging an elixir would cause you character to shake the elixir before throwing/drinking it in order to get specific results. Here is another example of implimentation.

Drinking Elixir H:

  • Drink it instantly: Heals some ammound and grands a random boon between protection, regeneration or swiftness.
  • Charge it 1/4 before drinking it: The elixir will always grand protection.
  • Charge it 2/4 before drinking it: The elixir will always grand regeneration.
  • Charge it 3/4 before drinking it: The elixir will always grand swiftness.
  • Fully charge it before drinking it: The elixir will grand all the above boons. (this last charging level takes double the amount of the others.)
  • Similar results are expected fron throwing it.

Throwing Elixir U:

  • Tossing it without charging will give a random result as it currently does.
  • Charge it 1/3 before throwing it: The elixir will always make an Illusion wall. (this first charge will take triple time thant the rest)
  • Charge it 2/3 before throwing it: The elixir will always make a smoke line.
  • Charge it 3/3 before throwing it: The elixir will always make a reflection wall.
  • Fully charge it for 3 hours before throwing it: The elixir will summon a magical God that kills all the enemies and elder dragons in Tyria and then bans your character for cheating.

This charging method sucrifice time for precision (I don’t mean the stat). The amount of time it takes for each elixir to charge to the various levels, and it’s cool down should depend on game Balancing.

Quick item use.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kite.2510

Kite.2510

Currently GW2 isn’t an item use based game.
However that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have usable items. In fact, they are the main reason to revisit completed hearts and/or unlocking Karma vendors at the end of event chains and get some really cool stuff.

There are really helpfull stuff to be found in Karma vendors, but their only problem is that their mid combat use is very clunky. For example in order to use a “spy kit” you have to open your item menu mid battle (that most likelly you’ve aranged it your self to cover half the screen), find your item in a sea of looted junk and double click it. That’s why players are currently using only items that don’t have direct combat use (such as food), and most of them have forgoten that cool stuff can be found on vendors!

If A-net wants their Karma vendors to still be usefull after one buys his/her exotic from them, then they must make item use a bit…. easier.
Plz allow 3-4 slots to quick using items. You are making half of the non-level restricted stuff the karma vendors sell useless!

Higher rewards for soloing champion mobs

If a second player runs up and hits the champion once while you’re fighting it, does that mean you’ve griefed?

I think the main idea is to encurage players to start figting a mob, even without other players around you. People tend to run away from groupe events on the map instead of piling up, fearing that no other players will appear and they’ll have to face them selfs the dificult content.
I suggest you very sligtly increase the reward when a content is acomplised by fewer than suggested players (beter chances in drops), and give soloers a very small chance to drop “a medal” that can ether be worn for cosmetic reasons or sold for 10 silver to a vendor.
I believe the “one person droped a hit and go away” problem can easilly be fixed by making the system check who has done 90% of the work.

This suggestion is not the best solution in the “runing away from group events” problem. But at this point anything will do.

Personally I suggest to put some beter rewards on groupe events (chance to drop something rare), and have the champion mob starting the fight softly, and hit hard only once it gets bellow 90% of it’s health.

If I have to believe the forums, people aren’t farming in Orr anymore, so this is a bit of a surprise.

But let’s be honest, with the introduction of FotM, farming is done there and no longer in leveling zones, except for some materials I guess.

The world has too many zones as it is, making the leveling feel longer and because areas are completed to quickly by themselves, you don’t spend enough time in each zone.

The truth is that you do get level 80 loot when downleveled but the events give less karma and gold than the level 80 ones. So there is a difference. So I guess people still farm some karma but with the daily/monthly you get a lot of karma anyways.

I can’t speak of the current situation as I stopped playing but you will know better whether people spend most of their time on FotM now and not so much in zones or other dungeons.

The main farming method is doing your daylly achivements (lots of XP, one mystic coin, Lots of Karma and rarelly a gem-store item), and those require 20 gatherings, 60 kills, 15 variety, and 5 events. Each fractal counts as one event, it’s rarelly enough to fill the variety, and got no gathering. You need 7 fractals for the monthly, that get covered in about 2 runs (much better than the 5 runs needed for the old normal dungeon monthly).

I am actually very glad, that I get mixed loot, between the area level and my level, because I need some of those low level crafting materials.^^

BTW
Is there any other use for low level crafting materials other than leveling alternative Crafting diciplines?
I was thinking that there might exist some super material that get created only by combining lower ones, but I haven’t come across any yet.

Engineers End Game?

I play an Engineer.
I’m full of exotics, mastered 2 diciplines, and I’m slowlly oncovering the whole world.

They are fun, but not good.

  • The elixir gun becomes a joke at later levels.
  • Every boon skill you use is a gamble. Even some other skills have gamble effects.
  • If you are playing with kits, then your Legendary weapons won’t even be visible.
  • Your Turrets don’t scale with your gear stats.
  • The only elite that it’s usefull is the supply drop, and whatever racial.
  • Whether you use pistols, rifles, or kits, you damage output is pathetic.
  • Their downed state skills is also pathetic.
  • Grenade kit and toolbelt kits are very tricky to use without the aid of a Razor Naga (I love this mouse).
  • They still have some bugs. Kit’s are unequiping whenever you lift an enviromental item, your auto Elixir S trait kicks in and also at randomly.
  • Toolbelt skills have big cooldowns for small results.
  • Using underwater speargung skills is like asking to die.
  • They don’t weapon swap, so all weapon swaping abilities from sigils are useless.
  • Their usable weapon list is even smaller than an elementalist’s.
  • The tool kit (wrench) turns you into a melee, yet it is supposed to be used to repair turrets that are supposed to be on the back, and it does little there as well!
  • It doesn’t help that it is considered the second most complicated to use class.

Engineers are only good for support, and they aren’t anything special there ether because of the randomness. The best builds out there are based on elixirs and no kits, and they carefully choose their skills so they won’t involve random results.

I’ve tried some other classes and I almost regret having this one as my main. My only hope is that they’ll buff it up in some patch, and perhaps add one or two extra usable weapons (the mace for example).

Will we see an update this January?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aside from dungeon ballances, server guesting, bug fixing we won’t see anything worthy for the update to have it’s own page aparently. Unless of course A-net surprise us tomorrow.

I’m hopping for 4 things in the next update.
1. Remodel/Rebalance the non-fractal dungeons and their mechanics, and give us reason to play the story mode again. I would rather have the enemies deal more damage, that taking an hour for each to die.
2. Add some kind of extra reward to group events, to encurage people to wait for others and play them rather than running away from them.
3. Don’t have any 1 time events. It’s not that I don’t like them, and I trully believe they learned their lesson the last time and won’t impliment them again in LA, but my examination period starts tomorrow and my time will be very limited.
4. Make the other Cities equaly importand to LA! I hate that place!

“I can outrun a Centraur.”

Also most of the Lines in LA, but this problem can easilly be addressed if they stop over-focusing LA and encurage people to go to other cities.

Redesign Orr.

I disagree.

Orr looks perfect IMO. I love exploring Orr and I love re-exploring it too. The magnificent large ruins and amount of details to building this zone is incredible. The problem is that you’re not looking into it.

The other areas look plain and boring. Just put random shrubs, trees, grass, buildings and color it bright green. Then. you have a zone that somehow impresses the mindless mass.

Other zones needs more redesigning than Orr.

You mean that having 2 of the 3 assults in Malchor’s Leap go underwater resulting in all players going from the southern part works as intended? Or that it’s cool to have the final and most sirious area of the game smells like dead fish (by smell I mean “remind you off”)?
When I’ve heard of Orr for the firs time I was thinking of a bad kitten undead City, and instead it’s one of the most uncool/disgusting invaroments with nothing but ruins and Risen in it.

All other Zones fare much better than Orr. Some of them might have a few bugs or inconviniances, but at least they are all apealling to play at.

IMO a lot of things could become much better once they add moving platforms in their engine. Imagine how the Honor the waves would looked a lot more like a ship and less like an typical building if it was moving, or imagine a new generation of jumping puzzles when the platforms are moving, or even better, imagine Zhaitan actually sitting on your ship in Arah and have the whole ship tillting from his weight, or when you are jumping to a bigger ship, having to phisically do it instead of showing a lame cutscene, or having to fight one of the future E-dragons by climbing on him, ect…

The possibilities are endless!

Who uses a standart turret?

in Engineer

I’m talking about the earliest turret you can unlock, that fires normal rounds, and can shoot a single bullet from your belt.
It kinda feels useless once you go beyond the leveling procedure and unlock the missle turret.

Redesign Orr.

The Orr areas suffered since the launch of the game. Both the area and the enemies seemed rather monotonus, and the main (only) reasons to be there is them being end-game areas with the latest rewards and having the last bits of personal story and dungeons.
The area look ugly! There was little variety to the enemies and the whole area looks like ruins being risen out of water (as it was intended, but still not nessessary good to look at).
Personally I would have done it deferently!

  • I really liked the consept of the risen not seeing that they are dead, thinking that their City still exist and they are still living on it. I would have enhanced that by making a ghostly illussion of the actuall City that the player would see upon stepping in Orrs boarders. The city would look ghostly but intact as if the ghost of the buildings are still standign and only once you get near an actuall structure you’ll actually the ruins behind it. This illusion will break once an area’s major boss is defeated making the area look excactly like it currently is untill it respawns and doing so will lessen the enemies in the area.
  • I would make the bosses a bit more epic, and have them feel like the dragon champion fights. Currently they are just frustratingly hard mobs. I would also give them more reasons for players to farm them as they do the champions, like better or rare rewards.
  • It’s obvious that in the first area where you attack Orr in 3 fronts didn’t go as it was originally invisioned by the devs. Everyone goes from the one land route as they dislike the underwater combat that the 2 other routes have. I can’t help but think that the devs intended at least one of the other two roots to future ship transortation events with naval combat and an epic landing on Orr, but then realised that their engine doesn’t support moving platforms. Once the moving platforms issue gets resolved, I would like to see the attack in Orr being as epic as that, and then make the third real underwater route become faster and easier to make up for the underwater combat. I would also put a timer appear 3 minutes before an assult is launched, to make players gather to that place. The music should be something like this.

I see a lot of wasted potential here, but it’s never to late.

Dragoons are supposed to be mounted infantry.
The whole “Jumping” thing came from the Final Fantasy games.

If they make Jumping dragoon, then they’ll be copying Final Fantasy.
If they make a mounted dragoon, then they’ll be adding mounts to the game.
The gameplay sounded fun though…

The mystic on the other hand sounds original and nice. Although I can’t help but feel that a ghost user will be more of a light armour class, and currently the game need a heavy. Same for the battlemonk!

There are currently 3 light armour classes, 3 medium and 2 heavy.
If a new proffession comes out in an expansion, it will be aheavy!

Inneffective layout is having to take half you fingers from the basic movement buttons to reach skills 7-0 and F1-F4. Doing that and still moving seamlessly around is imposible, unless you play a non-GW2 MMO that doesn’t allow/require movement when casting skills. This mouse improves my experience by a lot!

These particullar “Piano-simulation” mini games however asume that I have all my skill button in a straight line and I haven’t re-aranged them in some way as the game options allows me to. The only advantage there is in having them in 1-0 keys is being able to press 2 at the same time, and that is not required with the exception of this particular mini game.

Fair point, I’ll eat that one
Still, check your mouse software (May be on a cd, otherwise google it). I bet a fancy mouse like that is programmable. Most semi high end mice nowadays is programmable. Heck, my keyboard “0” is also assigned to trigger when clicking the mouse wheel.

uh, every skill can be bound to two different keys. just make 1234/6789 the secondary choice for all the skills. this is a non-issue.

Look underneath you Naga, there is a switch there. Flip it. The side buttons will now be mapped to the regular numbers instead of the numpad.

My problem is that 1-4 keys are already occupied with the F1-F4 buttons. I’m aware of the swich below my Naga that changes it’s buttons from the 1-0 keys to the numpad keys, and I moved all the skills to the numpad instructing Naga to read them from there instead, because I wanted the 1-4 keys free to put the F1-F4 keys. And chainging all those just for one mini game tied to 2 achivement is a pain.
I’m asking for a quick way to change my layout to factory settings and back, so I can play these events that expect your key layout to be intact.

It does let you save certain profiles.

Must have missed that…
I’ll look into it!

The problem with Music mini games like these (there is also one in Caledon Forest) is that they expect you to be using a specific button layout!

If your layout can’t hit keys as fast as the standard layout, doesn’t that just mean your layout isn’t as effective?
