So it would be hard to answer to all the personal attack I got. So I will reply for all at once
So I main ranger. Yes I know they are UP. I don’t want mesmer to reach that lower tier! They actually never reached it as far as my memory goes (since release, but ranger was good at the time). I play every class (except heavies) and atm with only a classic shatter build in spvp I can 100-0 people, stun 3 time in 15 sec, being as stealthy as a thief, ranged dps rivalizing ranger, reflect for days, stack might, have decent +% dmg modifier, lots of blinds, etc. When I look to most other class, None of them has close to that amount of strong defense mechanism (I look at the phantasmal defender, PU, stealth, invuln, teleport) and that amount of strong burst/sustain dmg (some say it lacks sustain dmg, I do agree. But when you can burst 100-0 every 15 sec or so, it is kinda great sustain dmg).
The whole kit works too well thats just plain simple haha. Traits are just so good its, hard to pick one except in rare cases.
Some might say: “but you have to bring a stun breaker!!!” I have 2, and its not enough as you can stun 2 times in 10 sec with only one mantra. And you can do it while bursting.
But once again it is pure theory and I don’t like to stay in theory. I did this post with my experience of the last patch and how they introduced mesmer on the top of the food chain. By quite a large margin. I tried alot of build on alot of class. I’m sure not the best player in the world. But once I hop on my mesmer I just become 2x better. Any troll build I have made with mesmer are all somewhat viable. The whole class has too much things built in! (would you mind sharing with ranger joke

That result in the fact that I just dont enjoy fighting mesmer at all. Every other class has a little something to counter or watch for. Mesmer are hard to read because of stealth but also because of the instant stun shatter, teleport, reflect,etc. Everything fall in place to have little to no fun fighting them.

Soo idk how I posted that in this thread Klonko lol. Anyway there are tons of builds that counter the builds you are talking about. Everyone always complains about mesmers because they don’t want to get their * out of metabattles to change their builds. But when mesmers have to change their build to counter others its fine. If you really want to talk about something being op go look at fire dmg.

But I do stick out of metabattle… Most of my build are not even on it. But they only half efficient because of the state of ranger currently. For other class i mainly play zerker staff ele in SPVP. I mean, sure both are countered by mesmer, but i feel like any build i play, I just melt (even tank).
Since rangers are getting insane healing capabilities now can they just remove the ICD they added to it. It was really only op when synced with vampiric aura from necros, which required 2 classes…….
Sure but they spoke that they wanted the ranger to go deep into healing to do stuff with druid. Thus, ruining build diversity which is really bad… I dont want to play an ambulance only.
But back on the mesmer case !!!

I have considered that I am bad. But I think, for the major community of GW2 mesmer needs a tone down. Im not a SPVP hero or a complete scrub at SPVP. Im just stating that for the common player out there, mesmers need the nerf hammer
Also Like my signature says, I main ranger and thats a bit why I could considered bad as the class always did poorly. And it continues! With the nerf bat coming to druid… I dont have much hope on the class.
Mantra zerker build is almost impossible to kill and yet 100-0 people. Thats called proper balance!!!! #nay
Sorry but maybe I preach something you guys refuse to hear… I remember when mesmer was truly a class for skilled people. IE right before the patch. Good mesmer were doing great, bad were doing poorly. Now its kinda way too rewarding…
Of course, I know you guys won’t want a nerf. But saying that mesmer is just a little above ranger is a humongous lie. Its way better.
Its tankier than a thief with almost same defense mechanism and sustain dps is one of the best in open field (phantasm dealing quite some dmg). The added blind on shatter is a bit too much. Everything kind of fall on the upper edge of the balance line. Go play some other class!
I played Mesmer for a couple of week and mesmer is seriously in a OP state at the moment and a bit of tone down is needed in my opinion. Both power and condition are EXTREMELY efficient.
Stun on daze, massive shatter dmg (with right spec and setup), perma torment, ranged, almost as stealthy as thief, tankier… all in one. Am i right? Discuss…
Heal as one + centaur rune provide perma switfness + 5-10 sec extra which leads to this kind of stacking.
Everyone knows that being immobilized mid air is stun that cannot be cleanse. But why it is not fixed yet? It’s a major and game breaking bug on the competitive scene or any pvp… It’s been 3 years…
Before the patch my pets never died almost (except under heavy aoe). Now they just melt to anybody because of ultra dps and fire field (more fire field, but i’ve seen 75→0 with one GS #3 from warrior). Thats kind of sad…

Also i noted it doesnt proc if you “use” an ability while not facing the enemy (it get 3-5 sec cd) and you dont get quickdraw back. It is an issue i think.
Well Anet doesnt respect ranger, they showed it in their stream earlier. They made lots of joke about bearbow and such while providing little to none ranger related discussion. Thats just a sign we are not loved…

It’s either:
A: Other bugs have more serious causes that go beyond entering in a ‘30’ where there was probably previously a ‘0’
B: Anet prioritizes fixing advantageous glitches to the ranger (read the wind triggering fury, man that was a riot) over other classes and y’all should be used to it by now.
They could have thown a 15 sec following your logic but no…. would be so stronk! And it is stated that clarion bond doesnt buff pet which is underwhelming… BECAUSE EQUAL RIGHTS!!! PET ARE RANGER EQUAL!

We havent got any power spike in this patch. Every other class got a power spike. I guess we doing really bad. Sure we got improved support but we lost our title of dps in pve, spvp and wvw. So i guess its a 5/10 because of some nice addition (taunt).
QZ + taunt + bird f2 (3k) + hilt bash + remorseless maul (6k) + QZ + rapid fire (6k) + random autoattack from you and bird (3k) – this is all an easily repeated combo that pops people for almost 20k in under 2 seconds. um, spike-wise, u can do bird taunt + swoop + maul for about 11k on light armor.
Still, extra stats have less impact on our class than many other because of how bad our power ratio is.

Well sure it is fine… But look at what we got compaired to any other class (except thief lel) and the clarion bond is one of the only great trait we got. And the fact they nerf clarion bond to 30 sec (they did not fixed it, they NERFed it) and dont address grenade barrage is berond me. Same reason with fire stacking.
Also, ranger is the class that benefited the least from the extra stats (power wise) because of how awful the ratio on our attack are. I used to tought that would be a great patch for ranger but with the new spirit, clarion bond nerf, wilderness pigeonhold, sneaky radius offhand removal, protective ward nerf, hidden barbs nerf, etc… I just think think Anet shoots in their feet, pointblank and with a shotgun when it comes to ranger. They showed they can make an entire overhaul of certain class (engi and mesmer) but cannot do a ‘ok’ one for ranger? Sure we have new toys to play with. But is those new toy address the difficulties ranger face? Surely not. And now they nerf certain of them.

Mesmers were part of the meta. Well, on EU.

I know it’s a common complain but is it normal to get burned for 37k ?? While all other hits are like 1k2 or 2k… I think thats a bit concerning in term of balance.

So, the Taunt from the Beastly Warden is being applied through blocks and some evades.
How it works:
When used against skills that are channels, i.e. reguire the player to maintain casting them to receive the full bonus, the taunt interrupts these actions. So, skills like Guardian’s Shelter, Shield Stance are interruptible, so is Blurred Frenzy and Renewed Focus (!). Skills like Elixir S, Distortion or Mist Form are not be affected (although some more testing should be done).Do you think it’s intentional?
FALSE on elixir S, I just taunted an engie while under the effect of elixir S
1. I tried power ranger (double melee, lB/gs) and trap ranger. All are viable
2. I’ve seen no one use the spirit in pvp. And I don’t think ill use it except for the storm spirit with moment of clarity (but I heard it is bugged).
3. I am having a blast with this build atm. Remorseless and pet makes up for huge hit if you spec in Beastmastery (6k3 bite from a doge on a tower guard in WvW). Also, the new taunt mechanic is really good and responsive.
4. I only play that since I tested it. Sword/Axe + GS. Its really strong, mobile and bursty while still retaining some survivability (marauder amulet). Some also mentionned having sucess with valkyrie amulet to use the opening strike 100% crit to burst.
5. The forum theorycrafted a redefinition of shoutbow with the rune of the trooper and the ranger shouts. The only bad point, the rune of the trooper has been reported to not affect any shout in the game.
Also the only negative feedback I can give now is how strong is the condition damage. So, it force us to take the wilderness survival on every build. Therefore, nature magic is not really used anymore even tough it brings alot of nice utilities.
EDIT: I forgot to add that my biggest disapointement was the loss of extra range with off-hand training.

Now post patch, you can build tanky all you want and still output decent direct damage because of the pets!
Note: One of my doge bited someone for 6k3. One of my raven did 5k + X on a f2 (he was enlarged too). Thats how strong pet can be now that remorseless and bm are both viable.
Buff, yes, so what? Would a duration increase make rangers op or what? It’s a qol improvement more than a buff, but if you want to argue about it then sure, go ahead.
Tbh, they could get rid of that timer altogether, it’s not needed in any way. Let QD be active until you’ve used it up – solved.

If it could be kept until the ability is used – ICD might not go down soon enough for the next weapon swap.
If the ICD started at the moment of gaining Quick Draw – I could see 3 bonfires in 20 seconds. And I wouldn’t find this abuse fun, trust me.It needs to stay the way it currently is, but needs to “accept the trigger” at the beginning of the cast. Not at the end of it. This is a Quality of Life change. Not a buff.
Or buff WD to less than 4 sec.

Condition mesmers probably the strongest build right now for roaming.
1. The conditions + survivability on mesmers is ridiculous.
2. Mesmers mobility is not something to be laughed at anymore. Teleports are instant cast and were not affected by the changes done to movement skills. I was able to catch up to a FGS ele the other night with my mesmer.
3. Condition Mesmers hardcounter rangers, regardless if you’re glass LB or condition bunker.
I dont know about all these condi-mesmer QQ, I always beaten them with my double melee glassy spec (it takes sometime because they run). On the other hand, power mesmer of any sort destroy me… Mesmer this patch are cancer lol.
How do you guys feel about the range of the skill?
It scale according to the pet hitbox. The bigger the pet the bigger the aoe. It does scale with enlargement.
I went into EOTM with a thief last night with some heavy zerg fighting and found it to be utterly amazing with the shortbow (only exotic armor/weapons, mostly zerker items). Invigorating Precision + signet of malice kept me alive and zerker build just ripped them. Went with Critical Strikes, Deadly Arts, Trickery. Also, I would just sit on champs and spam cluster bomb for instant 25 might stack and hit them with about 10,000 damage with each bomb, as you can imagine my health stayed at almost 100% the whole time as the setup gave me instant healing during the fight. And this was with my son’s account (helping him build up some karma).
I can only imagine what I can do with my own 100% ascended, Scholar Rune berserker thief (armor ready in about a week). I can see changes coming because it was just too easy. I will also have to see what it is like to fight on the regular WvW maps.
You can kill people in 2 shots, but they can kill you in 2 shots too… Thats why I like the current version of pvp. High risk, high reward.
Don’t worry, condis will get the nerf bat soon enough.

Fear is not Daze so how is Fear influenced by MoC? If it truly is and you are not trolling, it is a bug.

You cannot critically think something without all the informations. One overlooked information can change your whole view of the concept.
So, I don’t have an opinion on the DH. It may be powerful on paper but it may be also ultra bad in practice (a bit like sword for some of you).
Let’s be honest about Tuesday’s patch … it’s quite likely going to be followed by some balance patches. Accept it and go with it. It is a game after all … and an MMO … these things are part of it.
Some balances patch of 3 months in between if the trend is continuing… Haha
