Cripple and chill are always annoying (as they are intended to be) but i would say necros can deal with them better the some other professions atleast in the more common builds.
I wouldnt say so because Necro cant leap so our effective mobility is trough our walking pace or teleport. And walking is the main way to be mobile as necro. So cripple and chill is REALLY annoying as it can be reapplied easily.
No thief hasn’t been nerf to the ground… It the cele meta that drove them out
I fought a mesmer today and miss target me and casted polymorph on my pet! And a polymorphed pet is just incredible because it has less pathing issues due to the #1 of moa following its target. Just like the sword #1 or ranger. I proposed this a long time ago. It would allow a constant dps and you could cancel the auto attack pathing with a F3.
What do you think about this?
Also the spectral wall from necro is kinda annoying because most of the time you will flee from the necro hence if you use LR, it will go right back in the Spectral wall.
Rangers are for people with 2 fingers. Just learn to tap v and press 1 and 2 with longbow and you are set to burst everything down in seconds. Well coming from my tier, that is what happens.
I cant count the number of time a ranger did that and got owned right after the initial burst. All you need to do is close the gap. You can distinguish the good rangers from the bad one. Bad one usually behave oddly when you are within melee range (aka not swapping to melee). Good one will swap to melee and proceed to kite/burst you. But most class has advantage over the ranger when he is melee!

Nah bro. I switched to Pewpew Ranger myself. Keep wrecking thieves and other terribad rangers because it’s so powerful. Anybody who still complains about ranger needs to seriously check their pet/utilities/general skill

Duel and group fight is where you can see the limitation of the class. Good luck at high skill level. Not at the element of surprised. Once it is passed, glass ranger get mostly wreck vs same skill level.

From my ~50h of pvp I learned one thing: Cripple and chill are the #1 enemy of necro. It would be fun to have a trait that give us a reduced condi duration for those 2 condition. It would help to get away in wvw and chase better.

LR is still quite bugged. Things like shock aura cancel the animation because they have priority and it stun you without going backward making you waste your cd. Also it doesnt evade during the whole animation like the thief healing do.

All of ranger’s weapon dmg is low damage in ranger because sharing damage with pet, I would rather prefer, pets to have protection boon when the ranger dodge, at this moment, all of those ranger hate was because the pet die too easily in dungeon, damage contributed is low hence.
The #3 traits (minor) in nature magic apply the protection boon to pet when dodge rolling.
SPvP ignore level and weapon so you can enjoy it even now!
As for Shortbow or Longbow, Longbow is a direct damage weapon and Shortbow is more conditions oritented. So you might need to test both to find your playstyle!
Lets face it, EVERY single class has noobs that play that build that is braindead to play. (PU mesmer, Eviscerate or hambow warrior, P/D condi thieves, cele ele, turret engi, minion master necro). Every single class has these. But ranger seems to have the most irritating one with the LB glass canon. I remember not so long ago it was condi regen ranger that was braindead to play and before that beastmaster build…
Ranger always been a noob friendly class. But it is one that is a hell to master. Pet stupidity along with no real mechanism makes it hard to find an appropriate playstyle.
So the best playstyle are:
-Sniper : easy to play (boring to play)
-Condition regen: evade bot with high survivability but low dmg.
And those 2 are among the easiest to be effective with along with warrior builds.
Roaming video usually features hard fight or outnumbered ones.
Let be honest: such vids mostly possible only on thieves and against pretty bad opponents. What is good here?

Yeah, seen that vids, but their opponents are mostly even worse than thieves have.
What is good to see here? Go outside and start beating a pack of children – will be the same “heavy outnumbered” fight…in all honesty, no good player would loose to a 2v1, so every outnumbered fight footage in wich the one getting outnumbered wins > bad opponents.

Its easier for thieves to fight outnumbered because of stealth. Being a ranger, you are a semi-tanky single target dps with almost no way to drop the focus on you in the middle of the combat. That’s why it is significantly harder to get outnumbered footage on ranger.
Ranger is the class that gains the most from the surrounding. If you know what your opponent is able to do, you have easier time to avoid his dmg. When playing D/D cele ele, you can only focus on yourself and still win most of the fight because you need to land X spell to chain Y skill. Ranger has somewhat easy time landing burst but harder time with survivability.
So you must adapt your playstyle according to the enemy you fight.
Example:
-A ranger can’t fight a warrior in melee. Warrior dps is higherĂ© So he must kite him.
-D/D ele has very high melee dmg but few gap closer, so its safer to stay in LB and shoot him down. For condi, its better to burst condi application when he swap out of water.
-Thief stealth: You can, and you should try to channel rapid fire as he enter stealth. It will follow him. And if you stay immobile you will always face him denying backstab.
So, a ranger never give the tempo in a fight (or rarely) if the enemy is fully aware of the ranger presence. Therefore, it is one of the class that benefit from stress control. Pressing the knockback or the stealth attack with LB when not facing the enemy cause the 2 skills to go on cooldown. And thats precisely what stress can cause you to do (along with #2 sword can make you go back in the fight if you double tap)!
You have also alot of micromanagement to do with the pet in order to maximize the class CC. And thats the hardest skill to get from all gw2 because of how pets ai are bugged. With some pratice you can pull off some nasty cc chain (aka hammer ranger: knockdown->knockdown->fear->PBS).
Finally, playing glassy spec seems really easy. And it is easy to do okay with it. But its HARDER to do good things with glass spec at high lvl. This is because you have no defensive mechanism or outplay possible. So thief and mesmer will always be the best for glassy spec because of the stealth giving them the element of surprise for their burst.
Everyone is able to SotW + RAO + QZ + RF someone that is unaware, but few are able to win someone that is fully aware of the ranger presence (same skill level implied).
I totally aware that LB buff was a step in the “noob friendly” direction. But the class needs gameplay change in order to work properly even tough they now have the most reliant DPS in the game atm.

Also if you stay immobile while channeling rapid fire, you will track them even if they go behind you. It is useful vs D/P thieves because they wont be able to backstab you necause you will always face them when chaneling rapid fire.
You seems to not realize how this elite turns the tide in a fight… No other elite is that OP except maybe the lich form.But that lich form is a big “TARGET ME”.
Is there a way to balance that blatantly OP elite? I feel like engineer PvP power only survive with this skill!

Maybe the net turret should be removed for something less harming like the rifle turret. Or the bandage removed because its actually a second heal!
Anyway I know engi doesnt have other viable elite. But considering some class doesnt have any viable elite (Hum elementalist), It’s only fair too brought down that elite that carries engi since launch!

I noticed plenty of time where they were melee and you didnt used it! It would proc all arrow therefore a huge poison uptime!
You are better to go with SB + GS or SB + LB for 2 chance of interrupt. If not be sure to take quick draw to reduce the SB #5.

Is it possible to go from dead state to full alive in WvW? By full alive I mean the everyday state where you attack using your regular weapon skills etc…
I stomped someone in WvW and maybe I killed one guard (which was about 5 sec max) and he was there still attacking me… Impossible for him to travel back that fast!
The only thing I can think of is leveling. But as far as I remember it is just when downed that it works.

Well they might have a lesser burst. But they have the most impredictable one. Which is why they are still balanced.
1st – Ice runes are applied to your own chill. Not the one of the pets. Same goes for might. Jungle stalker wont give you longer might duration if you have strenght rune.
2nd – All those f2 skill only affect when IN COMBAT.
3rd – Chill alpine wolf is base 2 sec. Add +50% of malicious training it becomes 3 sec.
I think thats it… I swear it would be better if pets would be considered part of the ranger for the runes…

That’s kind of the point though. If someone casts an immobilise on you then you…. shock horror… get immobilised. Jumping is not a dodge, so it won’t protect you from someones spell.
Yeah but you could at least AA or do spell… Now its just you fall, then teleport back to the immobilize initial position… rendering yourself unable to cleanse it or do dmg. Which is not the definition of immobilize. It would fit more for STUN.
It cause your character too freeze in the air unable to do any action… Its quite frustrating in PvP… You cant even cleanse it!
From what I see it happen on “immediate” immobilize like entangle and mesmer #3 on sword.

Melee pets leap to enemies with 300 additional range. Ranged pet projectiles travel twice as fast. Pigs can turn during their charge. Hyenas deal double damage to downed players.
Pig pet can drift during their charge!

So i played alot of mesmer pre september and i remember the sword skill “illusory leap” was quite buggy. And i see our dog doing the same kind of leap and failing so often its not funny. Do you think it is possible for them to do a fix on this ability? Or the pig family charge(because lets tell the truth whoever hit someone with this ability in pvp was facing an afk or it was pure luck)?
If we cry as loud as mesmer did we could achieve something xD (Joke, but mesmer cry SO loud tough!)

For shortbow, I want something that remind interrupt in gw1. I would go for a 1/4 sec daze on #5 with a 5 sec cd. And an attack that hit hard so we can FINALLY spec in the moment of clarity trait on a weapon. I think it would make sense considering the range of the SB.

Sorry to pop the balloon but… 3 mesmer running together is the same, maybe worst than 2-3 ranger running in group. Mesmer has as much dps, if not more from range.
Same goes from 2-3 thieves… 2-3 S/X ele…. etc…
Anything that kills really fast in a group is just frustrating.
Totally thought this would be like skill skins depending on the region you use your skills in. THAT would be probably the coolest addition to this game. I love games that pay attention to the little details.

Necromancer are good at doing one thing: locking down a target. Thats your team utility. Being the nightmare of someone. But, everyone disliking nightmare, most of the other team with focus you because you are a pain in the kitten . Imo you bring much more to a team than a ranger or thief with all aoe, well and CC/condi.
In my head, necro is like a hambow but really harder to play. Once mastered, you become a fearful opponent in 1vs1 or in group.
Well we only have 2 heavy armor classes, so why not one more?
What about a paladin?
Class mechanic being dark/light. Kind of like attunements but only 2.
Impossible imo… I would rather see dervish or parangon from Gw1 than this copy paste… And also guardian quite fit the roll of paladin as paladin is mostly good…
So, you want to add a completely new F1-F4 mechanic, and keep pets to the side….why? This mechanic does nothing to fix the current problems that pets have. If you remove their damage, then, due to the lack of and proposed/implemented fixes (or any fixes at all), they end up even worse than they were before. so have them still?
1st: Anet told many time they want ranger to have pets.
2nd: This will fix the problem since the pet wont have to track target to deal dps since it will be removed. The only thing that might affect them is their special triggering ability but it would be their only one. Since each pets has usually a interesting F2 and another AI driven interesting ability, now you get 4 at will ability instead of 2 at will and 2 random one.
I think it would fix the pet problems… (also some utilities should be completly removed aka shouts…)

As far as i know, ranger is a someone that is always in the nature a bit like the Coureur des bois from New France. This means his survival tools need to be affected by the season.

Thats where my idea is aiming, Ranger skills should change according to the season he choose to be into. A bit like the ele! But at the difference that he conserve his weapon swap. Only the weapon skill will gain additionnal effect according to the season. The pet would still be there. But no more dmg from them. Only their special ability would remain and they would swap according to the season.
The key would be something like:
F1 -> summer -> if you press another time F1, summer pet ability trigger.
F2 -> fall -> if you press another time F2, fall pet ability trigger.
F3 -> winter -> if you press another time F3, winter pet ability trigger.
F4 -> spring -> if you press another time F4, spring pet ability trigger.
And there would be cooldown for each season in order to allow more intelligent play. (Or maybe a timer of 10 sec before you go to the next season, it would be respectful of the season order and be truly unique mechanic that is time based).
Furthermore, each season would have a focus:
Summer: condition application.
Fall (hunting season): Direct damage.
Winter: Movement impairing effect.
Spring (Rebirth of the leaves): Boons.
Utility should also be reworked this way because it would make no sense having a muddy terrain on winter or a healing spring in winter. So as an exemple:
Healing spring would be now something like:
- Summer: Create an aoe with bleeding plants (like the temple of melandru aoe but less effective) + heal (less than Spring).
- Fall : Aoe with falling leaves, blinding enemy entering it + heal (less than Spring).
- Winter : Ice-covered Pond -> make knock down for 1 or 1/2 sec the first time they enter as well as healing (less than Spring).
-Spring : Healing spring (current healing spring).
This would allow the ranger a much better class mechanic, the traits would be easier to balance (4 traits line for each season and 1 to boost the overall effectiveness of swapping the season), and the best argument of all, the ranger would truly fit his the role.

Signet of the wild + warhorn #4 + Rapid fire…but anyway imo warhorn is underperforming like so many ranger weapons…
It helps to land crit sigil or the sharpening edges traits (usually proc about 6 bleeds stack… if decent crit chance!) Otherwise pretty much lack luster…
Imo what is truly lacking is the absence of any condition removal.
Survival of the fittest for fury + condi cleanse and swap to S/D because it is way more mobile than a GS. The GS for me is a dueling weapon rather than a roaming one.
