I wonder how many skill points that specialization’s skills would cost, and how much Revenant legends will cost each.
Should specials cost skill points themselves to unlock as well?
its a genius design.
As the Population reaches higher levels and higher level crafting, the older mats replace the newer gained mats as the new major mat. Acting as a endless time sink from level 1-80 and into Endgame.
Suggestion:
Add the Defiance Bar to players so we can tell when target is under the effect of DR immunity to stuns/Knockdowns in PvP, because I hate having my Stuns/Knockdowns not register. Its a waste of a skill when it does.
My biggest concern is when uspecialize do u still get access to olnew weap or a druid only has access to staff n that’s it?
I am really hoping to get a longbow for Guard to go with my other weap set but would really suck if they got the LB but could ONLY use that lol
That would mean Guardians and Rangers would lose the ability to swap weapons in combat which seems highly unlikely.
However it might be the case that specializations lose access to a weapon type in exchange for gaining access to a different weapon type.
Another idea, what if instead of Weapon Swap, the specialization change their new weapon skills but keep same weapon.
So take Druid for example. It would have two sets of staff skills. 10 total. Weapon swap simply changes between those two.
Not sure who plays or used to play WoW, but when they had the instant level up items you could never use them on the new class, example the Monk, you had to go thru learning to play them and use them. That is why I am hoping they disable the instant level up part, nothing worst than having people that have no idea what they are doing running around and ruining the new content.
I’ll address this too. You can ruin other players’ experiences in WoW’s environment because it’s WoW. A level 80 character in that game has, like, 50 abilities or something ridiculous, if I remember correctly, so it’s incredibly easy to get overwhelmed. In this game, there are many skills, but your weapon slots add some foundations to work off of. Even if you don’t know what you’re doing and have no utilities equipped, you can still take down enemies (albeit with some trouble).
Also, how would this ruin any content? Other people in the game can only really have a positive effect on you unless their in your group, and even then you could kick them if they’re bad.

I ask, because I noticed when playing my warrior in SPvP, that sometimes in situations where I bull charge the target and knock them down,
And the. Shield bash right afterwards, the shield bash’s stun doesn’t register.
And vice verse when leading with Shield Bash then Bull Rush.
What’s going on? Is there a DR in play that I don’t know about?

I suppose going axe/mace with 6 points in strength and discipline would make it deal a lot of damage.
But there really is somewhat no point considering 6 defense is just too good if you ever try to play dps warr.
I currently have 6 defense. but I run all 1handers. Cant seem to do enough damage to be effective with Axe/Mace.
I cant seem to get good damage from 1handers in SPvP.

Specializations: Every profession is indeed only getting one new weapon. However, Jon Peters teased that classes getting an offhand would get something “just as good” as the extra three skills and that he couldn’t say more. I suspect that the specialization might unlock three new utility skills, but that’s my speculation.

Skill 1: Slashing attack(cleave) That applies Bleeding/Slashing(Cleave) applies Bleeding/Frozen Spin (AoE Attack that applies Chill &Slow for 1 second)
Skill 2: Deadly Enshroud- Charge the Target knocking them down and immobilizing them in place and applying Bleeding. Deals more damage if target is under 50% health. Taunts if target is over 50% health.
Skill 3: Life or Death – Send out 2 waves of Shadow Blades. Enemies hit will slowed and tormented (traited to taunt), and allies hit will be healed.
Skill 4: Hunted Possession- You send a ghostly soul into the target, dealing (X) Shadow damage and increasing all damage done by your Shadow damage effects on the target by 20% for 12 sec. When the Haunt spell ends or is dispelled, the soul returns to you, healing you for 100% of the damage it did to the target.
Skill 5: Chains of Death: Root target in a chain of Death, preventing movement of speed by 100%, and slowly regain movement over 5 seconds. While Target is effected by Chains of Death, (x) HP is trasfered from the victim to the caster every second.
I’m imagining a reaper like class:
Lots of spinning and dark magic

I like your ideas. But I will share mine once I get them.
I sense a upcoming problem that many servers will have.
the new map is Borderland. What this mean, is that many of the smaller population servers that have a hard time fulling up EB will have a harder time getting people into Borderland especially when its split up into 3 maps already.
I suggest that the Developers merge all three Borderlands into a single map.
To go deeper into this, I say Merge Servers.
Note: this is for smaller servers, you can leave the Top Servers as they currently are.
Considering the fact that anet keeps talking about how the class changes are still up in the air for HOT, I felt we should at least try agitating for them to drop this ridiculous notion of giving us an offhand shield, which appears at least looking at the trailer as if that is their intention. This thread then is for us to try and make some noise, and to not simply go quietly. Whatever weapon you may want, I am almost certain, that their is no mesmer out there who honestly can say, they want a new offhand weapon… So here my fellow mesmers is our rally, and so shall we cry;

PS on another note, I seriously do not care what else they might give us, but at this point, another offhand to go with torch, sword, focus, pistol just does not fit. Our build diversity is intrinsically linked to our primary weapon, and as a consequence we are pigeon holed into four primary distinctions. Ranged condition, ranged power aoe, ranged condition aoe or melee power aoe. We need more single target weapons that stack well in the perpetual zerker meta.

Mesmer and Chronomancer are different.
Chronomancer will have unique class mechanic different from the Mesmer. They will share certain skills.
But with this in mind, this would imply that Weapon skills also have to change to fit the Chronomancer, because most main hand weapons have Clone/Phantasm, used for the Shatter Mechanics, which likely the Chronomancer DOES NOT HAVE.
So that means those Clone/Phantasm skills on Weapons will likely change for the Specialization, and with those weapon skills changing, likely the whole weapon will change as well.
As we’ve seen by the great example of the sister game Wildstar , I think they learned their lesson on trying to support the 1% in game design.

I believe there were other elements at play that ruined Wildstar. Because both Rift and WoW are successful and do Raids the best in the genre. Action combat likely killed that game.
Actually both WoW and Rift have moved away from raids as their mainstay how many times have we heard from the old schoolers complaining that LFR allows casuals to see content that used to be restricted or complain that Rift added solo dungeons. It’s a known fact that Raids are on their way out. The only reasons WoW and Rift continue to churn out more is because people would complain too much since it would be too much of a change for people to handle and they want to maintain as wide an audience as they can to continue revenue. Not because it’s successful.
People would go through all kinds of growing pains if they knew that raids were completely disappearing from the genre we’d never hear the end of it.
LFR is actually popular feature for WoW because more people actually want to Raid, but cant due to guilds usually having certain requirements that they cant meet. LFR gives them a way around that.
I love Raid Dungeons, but didnt raid since early WoTLK WoW because I didnt want to be bound to a Guild anymore.
I checked out the skills and it only contained the skills that have been displayed currently. It wasn’t tiered like you would expect, but that seemed more because the lack of completion of the class than because it will work differently.
Though it could also still work differently.
There was also no new insight on weapons.
Did the skill tab just display Legends, or did it show the Utilities of the Legends? what did it look like?

And we still dont know what they plan to do to fix it, because they make thses radical bad changes without a word from the public. Maybe if they ran a public open test realm like World of Warcraft and Rift does, the community would be happier and give more feedback.

Considering how many friends / guildies left the game, I think GW2 would be in the same state if not for the announcement of HoT.
More to the point, the real problem Anet was trying to fix with this is how many people left the game without getting to level 10 or 20 in the old system. If they improved that number, the other problems aren’t as big, because they solved the problem they were trying to solve.
I’ll never stop wondering just WHO is their source. How many people? What was their reasoning? How did Anet test theor opinion? Why isn’t this public. Why GW2 players and vets on here and reddit never saw any trace of an opinion poll etc?
I never saw any kind of poll on my experience in GW2, nor have I hear of such a thing.
Who left the game due to old system being confusing? Some bacteria-grade organism judging by how utterly brainless and dull the new NPE is.It’s not public because it’s none of our business but the info itself came straight from Colin during early complaints. He talked about the uptake of the game from low levels before the NPE being “absolutely not good enough enough.”
I’m pretty sure it came from the number of people during their free trial weekends that played till level 10 or 20 and just walked away.
Anet’s source is their data. It’s gotta be better than my sources.
Dude, the NPE didn’t JUST EFFECT NEW PLAYERS!!!! It was something all accounts had to deal with, even those with multiple 80s and been playing their Alts for a while.
I know how to play my classes. I didn’t need any of this NPE mess to do any of that for me. But I didn’t get any CHOICE to turn it off or not.
I also believe new players should also have that freedom to choose to use it or not. I played since beta, and never had a problem learning how to play, with the original system. So I wouldn’t want this junk FORCED ON ANYBODY!!!

Bad analogy is bad. Sony made major changes to a profession making the hard work people had done to get it meaningless. It affected all the Jedis. That was one thing. There were also changes made to combat that persisted throughout the game.
Most NPE changes only affect the early levels and many of those only on the first character.
Misleading comparison is misleading.
Of course it’s misleading to you,,,,, of all people… We can see why you, off all people would say that……
The NPE, didn’t just effect new players. It effected vets that already know how to play the game. But it also made the game horrible for new players as well. They both had the same effect on the game. People left in masses. Leveling became more boring, leading to more zerg trains, since you had less options for playing a character now, especially in WvW.
NPE was here to appear to the East, and even they don’t like the game. It was a total waste of resources. And ruined the company’s image in the eyes of many. Because now we as consumers know, that our voices and opinions aren’t going to be heard at all. There was the massive Trait thread as well, which we had to wait all the way till the expansion reveal in order to get a Developer’s response on acknowledging the flaws in their game design. That’s months of feedback, that went unanswered.
When the next time something bad like this hits the game, will we once again have to wait a year for it to at least be acknowledged by the developers as a mistake?

5 Man SPvP in GW2 been the least fun experience I had in a MMO when it comes to instanced PvP.
I want more.
I know you want your Esport, but just keep that to the 5man SPvP current modes.
but give us, those that actually like variety in instanced PvP, something to play other than these boring 5 vs 5….

Since the present set up is each legend has fixed utilities there’d be no reason for them be tiered like other professions. If you have to unlock abilities individually then it would probably just be from left to right.
Who knows. I didnt see the show. Could Legends be tiered like Utilities are?

Same here. Add ons could fix this problem, but Anet doesn’t let the community make add Ons.
That article is quite old; it is from 2012. I think the gist of it is that players may feel something is overpowered only because they have yet to find or utilize the counter provided in-game. And that the Devs use metrics as well as player feedback when considering balance.
Well it was a fact, that Thief class was extremely OP back then. In WvW they could perma stealth, as well as one shot back stabs from stealth and quickly return to stealth. That was extremely OP. Rogues can’t even do that in World of Warcraft.
They needed that nerf.

Anet how about not rewarding people based on doing damage and reward them for actually doing some skillful the things to help their allies. DPZzzzz takes the least amount of skill to do. Stop rewarding only them. Stop rewarding them all together. Reward people that cleanse allies, cc enemies, rez players, and other non DPZzzz stuff please. That would help get rid of that zerker Crazed DPzzzz folks.

Over time its the build up of zzzz that you get from falling asleep at the boring role known as DPS.
Support, tanking, control, healing, just about every role is more fun than DPZzzzz
compare the instanced pve from Guild Wars to the pve group dungeon content of Guild Wars 2
dont get me wrong. DPZZZZZ has its use for some world events, but the whole game? Thats totally pushing it.
Idea for the Chronomancer,
Is a spell that works similar to Portal, but for enemies instead of allies.
Chronomancer lays down a warp field, that works similar to Necromancer’s marks. It tagged up to 2 enemies that walk into it.
And the 2 targets get warped to the ground target location that the Chronomancer selects.
I am curious about why Anet didn’t just get rid of the DPZzzzz role and keep Tanking and Healing if they didn’t want a trinity.
DPZzzz is the most boring role of them all. Why did they make the whole game about DPZzzzz and toss the other two roles away.
I rather have those other two roles and get rid of DPZzz.

Even more interesting for me is the weapon that the specialisation for the revenant will get.
Also, I guess we would need at least one more offhand weapon for the rev, every other class has got more than one offhand choice. Torch? Focus? Shield? Dagger, since there is no heavy armor class with daggers (though theres also no caster class with bows so that argument doesnt really count)
I would like off hand sword or off hand shield honestly. A more offensive version of guardian shield would rock.
People ignore that Outfits don’t have a armor type requirement.
Aren’t lore books in the game?
Old accounts (ones made before the NPE was put in) don’t have the restrictions that new accounts do. New accounts can’t click on the PvP or WvW buttons until around level 20 (unless they go to LA and go inside Heart of the MIsts and WvW that way). New accounts don’t see POIs and such until a certain level (but old accounts will still see them from the beginning). New accounts can’t dye their armor until level 6. New accounts can’t interact with skillpoints themselves until level 13 (but if it’s a fighting skill challenge, they can join in the fight if someone else starts it first).
So yup, things require certain levels for new accounts.

If i put all my levels of all my tomes and leveling wasted on deleting characters i’d probably have a good 11 80’s now.
