Can somebody clearly explain how they work?
I am confused right now and trying to find some good answers and info.
I’m not sure how far back towards the basics we need to go, but basically they’ve renamed the existing trait lines “specializations”.
Now when you’re 80th level instead of having 14 points to distribute among the 5 lines you will choose 3 of the five and they all are automatically maxed out (as if you had spent 6 points in that line under the current system).
Instead of having 6 adept traits, 6 master traits, and 3 grand master traits there will be 3 at each tier. You also will no longer be able to put lower tier traits in a higher tier slot — you will always have 1 adept, 1 master, and 1 grandmaster trait for your specialization.
A lot of the missing traits have been folded into other traits to make stronger/more desirable options. Some effects have been moved to other lines. Some have been moved down in tier. The goal being to preserve styles while reducing the number of bad/ineffective combinations.
What we’ve being thinking of as sub-classes/specializations up to this point is now called “Elite Specializations”. Each class will have 1 at launch and its another specialization that can only be put in the third slot, unlocks a new weapon, a new heal, a new elite, and 4 new utility skills. The Revenant elite specialization unlocks only 3 utilities because of the way legends are structured.
Hope this helps.
Sounds like we get less options now..
also does Revenant get a new legend with their elite specialization?
Also what about all that talk about mechanics of classes changing with the specialization? Was that scrapped?
Skill point scrolls and any other form of excess skill points will be changed into crafting materials for use in the mystic toilet.
Anyone saving them for use on the new Revenant character class, well ArenaNet just did a number on you.
Woooo wait whats going on? I been saving skill scrolls for this very reason.
whats the news ppl?
Simply making it “in combat” only would go a long way. All else fails always have toolkit ready for runs and pop that giving you superspeed and not agroing anything
That doesnt address the OP’s last concern.
ps can somebody link to th is new info. I dont know whats going on..

Can somebody clearly explain how they work?
I am confused right now and trying to find some good answers and info.
trying to collect some gear. whats the three most important stats for Revenant?
should I get gear with Power/ Precision/ Condition Damage
or
Precision/ Toughness / Condition Damage
?
I like the Tank/Support roles so I am not sure how support will work for Revenants yest since not all legends been revealed yet. thats why I am currently not stacking +healing gear atm.
Revenant isn’t a race. So no.
neither are Engineers…
Scepter for a 1hander ranged weapon makes sense.
Also Off Hand Focus for support skills.
The current vanilla sieges are getting old. I would like to see some new buildable objects for combat to spice up strategy in battle.
Also would like some sieges that can only be used by underpowered servers who are outnumbered.
I also would like for players to be able to build forts, outpost, and walls sort of like that game Starhawk.
that could add another layer of tactics to WvW.
1)NPE/TRAITS.
2) Lack of Trinity with not system in place that is equally as effective if not better.
3) Lack of Raid Dungeons.
4) Lack of variety in Instanced PvP modes.
5) Developers Silence policy.
6) lack of major WvW development/improvements.

Please, either get rid of Warrior’s skill Delay, or get rid of cast times on skills..
Take your pick Anet, but one of the two has to go…
I vote no.
The HoM was designed to reward players for time spent playing GW1. Greatly reducing the difficutly of the achievements needed to get HoM points only cheapens the reward.
like I said in the OP. I played GW1, have 3 of the 4 GW1 downloads.
I played PvP not PvE.
Why wasnt my time playing PvP equally rewarded in HoM?
right now its not a lot of players in GW1.
I would like some of those skins still, but hard to get now. I never really played GW1 as a PvE game. I just did PvP there so never had a real chance at getting those HoM rewards.
There’s a reason why people preferred using AI interrupter henchmen in GW1; it was this exact solution you’re giving here. If a computer is allowed to react to “major” abilities from the player; hey will do so correctly 100% of the time and players won’t be really able to get those abilities off or they’ll use those abilities ot cheese the system.
That’s the point. They would be harder to kill 1v1 but still same paper skin as current when outnumbered.
I had an idea. What if instead of increasing the NPC health and damage with straight upgrades in stats,
What if their AI were increased to be more tactical during fights with players. That would make them much harder to fight.
Make them able to dodge player attacks, and CC players when players are using major attacks.
Make them block certain major attacks from players.
This could make for some interesting fights.
how often this happen?
Stronghold seem better built for players that run burst damage builds for killing NPC faster. Seem like a good offense in this mode makes for a better defense.
I tend to play more defensive builds in SPvP, but its simply not useful in this mode due to how important killing NPC is here. There really is no defensive locations that a defensive build would be more useful than a offensive build.
I don’t think I would enjoy the mode in 10v10. The map is big yeah, 20 people for one map would be a bit too much.
full 20 wont be on offense or vice verse
with 10 vs 10
break down of group:
1 on Treb
2 of Lord Defense
2 on Supply run
1 on Mist
1 on NPC escort/Horn finder
3 on offense push
thats fits for Stronghold map well.
stronghold would be better with larger group than 5v5 imo.
with more players, more people can space out roles.
Make fights more interesting.
I am curious should I ever use Should I use Rune of Dwayna or any other support oriented runes in SPvP?
I wanted to make a support ele for SPvP, was using Dwayna and notice I wasnt much use to my team.
not sure if support role really works in SPvP.
So I figured I come here and ask the more experienced if a support role can work.
I just figured the lack of information was to imply that the expansion is not coming out this year. Why would they frontload everything they can for the expansion when you’re just going to sit on your hands for the next 12-24 months?
they revealed info so consumers know something it in the works, and to build hype.
but they still want to save their info hype for when certain competition in the MMO market makes their next big move. namely Elder Scrolls Online’s console launch would draw lots of consumers away from GW2.
Timing the Hype after the TESO console release would allow GW2 to pick up and kill the hype of TESO-Console and bring back more gamers.
I am curious if Anet is waiting for the April 20th Elder Scrolls Online console addition before revealing more info on HoT to let the hype die down for Elder Scrolls Online..
Game companies do not plan things around other game companies releases. They don’t care.
Yes they do.
Rift took direct shots at WoW when it first came out.
Blizzard made strategic expansion reveal when Warhammer was about to come out.
Sony revealed the PS4 to throw the Xbox off.
They do this all the time. you are just blind to this.
I am curious if Anet is waiting for the April 20th Elder Scrolls Online console addition before revealing more info on HoT to let the hype die down for Elder Scrolls Online..
With speculation around the Necromancer Greatsword specialization potentially being melee, i am curious as to what Necromancer current utilities/heal/elites would work well for melee oriented combat.
I just want some of the weapon skills improved and more better tanky traits.
For well build, what are the runes and sigils i should wear for staff and scepter/dagger?
cool Wesley Snipes play gw2!!! add me bro. i am a big fan
bosses need phases
no 15 charssss——————
man WvW/SPvP has become very stale over the years. They major design improvements.
Not just talking about new maps here and there. They need restructure.
WvW went from a game seller, into nothingness.
And SPvP was hyped up as well, not look where its at. its so unbalanced because of the way its designed, not the classes themselves.
But whats some of the community’s suggestions/solutions to improving WvW and SPvP in HoT and beyond?
We have waypoints . . . No.
that didnt stop gliders…lol
is this out yet?
And what does she wear? A light robe and not heavy armors :P
We won’t see Monks back, thats so guaranteed, like that the sun goes up daily.
There has Cleric a much better chance then.
Monks are basically a Human only thing… thats why Cleric would definetely be the better choice.
in Warcraft universe RPG Clerics are a type(rank) of Priest, and can wear heavy armor or not if they chose. so you still are wrong.
To make Water Spirit more useful, its healing effectivity shouldnt be calculated only from Healign Power, but instead also from Vitality.
Means, so more Vitality the ranger has, so more should also heal the Water Spirit.
Vitality therefore should count for your self heal, and healing power for the part of how much allies can heal themself through Water Spirit with their attacks.
Then this skill would be alot more useful. Also 35% chance to heal yourself on hit, is laughable, when there are thieves with Signet of Malaince, whic hhave a 100% heal on hit healing skill.
There shouldn’t be such a low chance just to get heals on hit from Water Spirit for those lousy 6 seconds of duration where it works. At least it shoudl get increased to 50%
Another change that Anet should do is, that the healing doesn#t get simply replaced by the healing of an individual, if it has more healing power, than YOu.
it should get changed that Water Spirits healing powers gets ADDED on top of that of your allies, while they are in teh near of the water spirit. This way WS would become a much better support skill option, especially for classes, and players that use builds with extreme low healing power.
—-The vigorous spirits trait brings it up to a 70% chance, like the rest of the spirits. Not great, but better.
problem is that it has a internal cooldown thats random and makes the passive heal useless. the active is weak due to how Spirit AI doesnt quite work well in terms of following.
I use Defiance Stance in SPvP but clearly it needs a buff. It can easily be nulled by Defy Pain and Endure Pain.
Need to add a stack of Stability to it if its going to keep the cast time.
Or add CC resistance. or a Proc at the end of the effect like protection at the end or regeneration at the end.
Priests are not = Clerics. He has clearly written Priests and under a Priest I understand a Scholar that wears light robes, having a book or staff in his hands and praying to some gods or other divine entities.
Thats a Priest to me, and a priest is exactly that in the most MMO’s that I do know.
A suishy support class that uses books or staves/scepters and which supports its allies from the back line with healing and protective spells and smites foes with holy/light magic based spells.A Cleric instead is a heavy armored middle thing between a Warrior and a Paladin, but more support orientated than a Paladin. They don’t use Bows, they fight with Swords and Shield, or with Maces and Shield. That are the main weapons of a Cleric.
We are here not in China, where Monks practice “Zen Archery”, so don’t think, only because there exist in Rl some monks, that practice archery, that this belongs to classic priests automatically or even clerics, which are no ranged combatants, they fight at the frontline and support from the the wounded with their blessings.
And thats basically exactly, what we already have with the Guardian.
So Cleric would be essentially nothing else, that a fitting good Guardian Specialization, but none, that I see with using Longbows.
If Guardians get a Cleric Specialization, then I think, it would be Shields as Main Hand Weapon as thats what I would see a Cleric using in GW2, to use the Shield more offensively, while still having with these skills at the frontline some supportive side effects that help keeping allies alive or cure them from conditions, while you fight agaisnt something and they are in the near around you.
well you are wrong.
kikyo from Inuyasha was a Priest and she fought primarily with Bow….
http://www.angelfire.com/creep/inuyashafriends/kikyo.jpg
Also Clerics in Table Top RPG can also use Bows…
honesty is the best policy, which one do you prefer
BLEEP THAT, #TEAMCHARR all day…
lol who am I kidding? lol Team Cat more like it..
I am curious. Not debating if they are or not, but just explain to me how they are OP. what makes Turret Engineer OP. I dont play that build so I know very little about how its played. So I am asking what is making them OP. Because when I play, lets say, a Kit Engineer, I dont experience the same level of OPness that others see from Turret Engineers.
I honestly hope if they do get nerfed, that the developers dont effect other parts of the class that dont have anything to do with turrets.
Knight and Paladin were original names for the Guardian class.
But I expect the new Guardian specialization to be called Priest and use Longbows like a Priest.
Plz make more builds viable in SPvP.
I hate being shoved into specific builds just to be useful.
Some skills I dont even know why you allow players to be able to use in SPvP. Some skills should be X’ed out like when going under water, because those skills are simply a burden in their current form. Like Med Kit for Engineer and spirits for Ranger.
Whats the point. The meta rules all. smh.
I personally believe the lack of build diversity stems from the original anti-trinity design of the game originally. Everything was meant to be built around damage and kills, nothing else. I hope this at least changes come HoT.
With Hot coming and more items added to the game, what will be done about bag space? Because I am nearly full in terms of bag and bank space.
I like most, dont like all the skin models in the game. But i do enjoy many of them and do enjoy collecting them through gameplay which i enjoyed and was able to pick which play style i wanted to do.
now that run on sentence and all said and done,
i want double as many new skins added in HoT to collect. Like i said, i dont like all the skins, but the more skins, the larger the chance there is something i like from the new skins and more to collect.
Now this goes for both armor skins as well as weapon skins. Very disapointed in the few armor skins that are in the Trading Post, compared to weapon skins. But thats because there are more parts of couse
I didn’t follow the storyline well. But who is the Main boss/ final boss in vanilla GW2?
I left off some other example.
7) we collect Tonics. Would be cool if we had a UI button outside of inventory that we could easily access and activate different toys and tonics right from that action bar, instead if digging through the inventory.
8) the world is full of lore. An add on that allows players to hover over points on the map and get a small pop up of lore about that location.
Guild Wars2 has a staff? Can Revenant use it?
IMO after years playing,
Add Ons would greatly improve GW2.
Some people are against Add Ons, but they really don’t cause harm, the community does that on its own, with or without add Ons.
The reason I want add Ons, because it adds new features to the UI and adds a QOL element to certain actions in the game.
For example:
1) There is no Build Save feature for saving experimental builds and switching between them easier. Well an add on can do just that. This is a basic feature that even GW1 had.
2)I like sorting my bags so that I have space at the top rather than at the bottom of the bag. How about an add on that changes the sort button to do just this?
3) right now I use out of game timers for bosses. Well what if there was an add on that had the timers in the game so I don’t have to leave the screen to get the info and link the waypoints.
4) WvW is a stratagy, and sometimes tacticians need to take notes. Well what if there was an add on that allow players to draw notes on the map and draw messages to self on the map so they can reference for later period. Maybe you can draw out locations to place sieges, or locations of enemy sieges.
5) some classes don’t use weapon swap, so It would be QOL addition from an add on to make it so I can lock in different keybind options for different classes without the need to go into options.
6) my mouse pointer tends to get lost when playing in a lot of clutter (which I like clutter gameplay actually) but an add on that makes pointer bigger and different colors would be nice for that kind of gameplay.
I am sure there are many more ideas out there. But they could really improve the game.
What’s your thoughts on this?
The person that should be banned is whoever at Anet holding this outfit at hostage! I want this now!!!
Maybe I I am confused. but I did not notice any additional gem store changes
And seriously I don’t know why April Fools is such a big thing in MMOs at all. It was funny when WoW did it ONE TIME and then became tedious over there too!
If Anet felt the need to imitate Blizzard so closely, they could have just finally given us mounts! Getting across their kitten world take forever.
WoW didn’t start the April Fools trend in MMOs. Contrary to popular belief, WoW was not the first major MMORPG.
wow I cant beleieve that poster claim that World of Warcraft started the April Fools jokes in MMOs….
