Hey developers, can we finally get rid of the fall damage traits and simply add that effect to another trait as a side effect, since most places in the game we can’t fall on enemies?

As for Revenant #4 hammer, keep in mind that Wall of Refection has a 10 sec duration on 40 second Cooldown. Meaning 1/4 uptime, compared to Revenant’s 1/2 uptime.

Also the skill happens to be an utility for guardians compared to Revenant, who has it as a weapon skill which they can’t swap.

Also have to factor in that the Revenant has no control over utilities other than what legends they bring to the table of the fight.

So the legend utilities have to be balanced around that aspect of the limitations.

Sounds like their spin on the trinity. Instead of healers healing the group, the healers make the group temporary immune to damage for short period of time at the cost of resources.

I am curious what other think about this theory.

I notice some of the new HoT staff skins are re-tailored to look melee oriented to fit the new Revenant class’s melee staff theme.

But Wouldnt it made more sense to simply allow them to use Spears on land, since spears already have a melee theme to the skins as is?

Would this be evidence that we never going to get land spears added to the game?
Maybe for technical reasons perhaps?

Speculation; Revenant is being hyped and marketed as an awesome heavy armor class in order to attract upcoming sales, while we warriors have been progressively nerfed over the past year.

For WvW will you switch to Revenant or continue as a Warrior?

Don’t believe the hype. Don’t believe them, remember hype about spvp and look where it is now. Remember what happened to warrior (high armor & high hp joke) and how they didnt have clue what to do with pvp and how to balance.

Rember SOTG events and all false promises from Jonathan Sharp and others.

Just look where we r now… We dont have fun in pvp (only 1 ultra boring game mode). We dont have endgame pve content (nothing to play for). There is no use for guilds…

GW2 did not fulfill a single promise, r we ready for new ones?

what was the hype behind SPvP? because I only really jumped into it this last few weeks of grinding it.

the Raiment of the Lich outfit can change a model pretty decently with a new leg set.

I thought that maybe that tech can be used to change the full body to look like a different race all together.

To cut a long story short, I played GW since shortly after its release and met my missus there shortly after that. After meeting her in the game, I met her and her daughter in real life and have been together since. Anyway, a few days ago, we had our forth child together.

So now thanks to GW, we are a family of seven. Me, the missus and our five girls. THANKYOU ONCE AGAIN GUILD WARS! (And obviously GW2)
We also had/have an amazing time playing with the GW/GW2 communities. THANKYOU GUYS! Best gaming communities ever!

Congrats dude. But just going to say it, because I know others are thinking it,

Will specialisations be able to wield old weapons? And if they are able to, will the weapon skills be the same? Can someone enlighten me? Please.

+ I will add on, based on datamined information that can change at any moment.

From what we see from the Elementalist Specialization, you still keep your parent class weapon skills, to go along with your Specialization’s new weapon.

The main Trait Tree (the last tree on the bottom) will likely change due to mechanics changing,

Also Specializations get their own Utility skills unique to them, and heals and elites. But also can use SOME of the parent classes skills as well.

In Most MMOs I played, when it comes to instanced PvP, players get punished for abandoning the group. But I see that more often in this game than others.

All I heard in the OP is nerf nerf nerf to all my support/tank skills, and I already do noodle damage.

I have to disagree. Unless traiting into power and crit, the 1handers are pretty much wet noodles.

IMO the 1handers need better base damage.

For HoT, I would like to request further additions to the visual UI.

How about a new way to see what Trait Procs we have remaining off cooldown?

Example of what I mean:
Defy Pain- a Warrior trait.
Well this trait procs Endure Pain effect. but we have no way of telling when this is on cooldown or not. I suggest having some kind of info available on the UI to let the player know during combat when this trait is off cooldown or if its still on cooldown.

Also another addition that is welcome, is for Effects like this to list a number for how long they last, rather than just having the icon flash.

Stress test is just a fancy way of saying demo, so you can play of a unstable build of the game to test how much the server can hold up before crashing.

Keep in mind you won’t be playing the same build that the developers and Inhouse testers are working on. So many of the issues may already be fixed, that you run into.

Which do you all believe is the better method of the two?

Having testing done Inhouse, or public outhouse beta?

My concern with the way testing been done with GW2, is that most major changes were tested by Inhouse testers without word from the public, that could have spotted major issues far better than the Inhouse team.

Example of this, is the recent Trait change backlash. Inhouse testers didn’t see anything wrong with it, but clearly the public and the Inhouse testers don’t see eye to eye.

Same situation with the NPE.

I would argue that public is better as spotting these design flaws than the inside testers are IMO. I believe GW2 should have a public test server like Rift and World of Warcraft.

But what’s your thoughts on this?

By “Mostly as support” I am referring to having a build that is built primarily around support.

For me, it’s been Necromancer. I havnt tried guardian support yet for SPvP. But what is your fav?

For example, ‘challenging group content’ could mean anything from Fractals and open world events to dungeons and raids

you over think too much, when anet say something, they mean it,

Remember when they said you won’t kill the same boss twice and that events don’t repeat? Anet has a way of saying something that really isn’t how things are.

I notice there is some kind of Skill Delay, in which pushing a skill will not set it into cast at all for a second or second and half, then skill goes off.

Most cases I noticed this is if I am pressing the key rapidly. Like a heal skill for example. I may hit the key multiple times to make sure it cast, but it may do this skill delay thing.

Any idea whats wrong?

It dont look like Lag.

Source is, it’s one of the weapons shown in the Revenant class reveal. Why would that be the specialization when Anet said they hadn’t revealed that yet for the Revenant?

I want larger Axe skins. I like large skins on my Norn. Tired of all the small axe and sword skins. Please add larger axe and sword skins, and even mace skins. Want larger. Also more fantasy theme, and less technical theme please.

People seem to want Pistol or Torch for warrior. Rifle for Thieves seems to be a given considering they are the only Profession that lacks a 1200 range weapon (No their crappy spear gun doesn’t count).

Scepter wouldn’t work for Warriors because they wanted them to be a martial class, no magic, and they already have maces as their blunt one hander.

You never know. Specializations make classes different. This could be their way of making Warriors use magic. Many RPGs already have magic using warriors. In fact, GW1 was one of them. Warriors pray to the same gods that other classes get their magic from. So it’s not a reach. But I predict Pistol.

revenant is getting staff as they showed revenant staff footage with other specialization footage

so warrior is either pistol or dagger

and thief i would perfer a torch, basically a non physical weapon

Staff is their parent class weapon for Melee DPS.
Also as theorized, rangers are getting staffs. I believe OH Dagger is their specialization. That’s my theory. Fits the new Legend reveal as well.

If you don’t mind me asking, what is the source of the ele sword.
I know there was a guardian with a longbow in the wvw footage, but I don’t recall seeing an elementalist wielding a sword.

I’d like special events that lead to other special events that lead to other special events that lead to other special events that lead to larger special events and eventually it would lead to those having done all those events to access a special event that looks like a raid but isn’t a raid, yet offers new things to experience and such.

Than it won’t be a raid. It will be another zerger

Exactly,,, no MMO is balanced when multiple classes are playable. Waiting on balance to do anything new, means you will be waiting forever. No MMO with multiple playable classes are balanced. None.

All developers can do is buff and nerf to try to get things as even as possible, but never balanced, because that would mean making all classes into a single class which they don’t want to do.

I rather get new classes and Specializations than to wait on the “never coming” balance

Sure as long you carry archetypes mindset it will always happen and since they keep copy and pasting them it will happen but you can’t deny that many stuff obviously need change and they balance around 5v5. I disagree on the balance turn off, you can create classes with equal potential in all areas but different in theme, a class could burn using light,flames,venom etc. The idea of class with more HP,damage,CC etc is similar to trinity roles in those pvp/class balance is awful, it is definitely possible to create balance classes without copy and pasting them under a different name,just no one ever tried.

Also other stuff prevent balance like RNG cough cough crit cough and a lot of melee trash mobs and etc. But off-topic and too late anyway.

Name one game that has classes that are unique ,yet still balanced…

I see a few old WoW types of players thinking raids must have the basic roles of healer, tank and dps. That is not what makes a raid. That is how it was designed for the subscription based game that put out a Chinese expansion, complete with Chinese food, endless pandas, Chinese architecture and the crappy “White tiger watch over you” line.

A raid consists of far more than “this is your only role noob” and requires a coordinated effort by larger groups. Which of the two was the noob fails? Tank can’t keep aggro or stepping into the purple circle too much? The raid would not only fit into Anet’s way of play-style but it would flourish. I mean, the possible combinations the professions bring to this game allow for one to bring what they have to the group. Some offer group protection or heals, to a point, while others add buffs and better cc for the group. If GW2 was simple stack and burn the boss, as a few mentioned, then completing a fractal with a group of mesmers should be easy, right? Might be good to take a guardian perhaps? Anet did for this game where Blizzard failed in WoW. There are no loot issues, for one, but there are many more I will not go into. My point is, if Anet wanted to dedicate some time and server space to raids for the big boys, it could be done easily, as long as they have a lot of coffee or tea. The dungeons and fractals alone already prove the trinity is not required.

I am not by far the most knowledgeable mmo player here, but 6 years of WoW, including doing all the raids before I left, leaving 10 maxed toons there while I have 6 maxed here and almost two years with GW2 gives me at least enough xp to tell a few of you to go get a diaper change and man up a little. You whine worse than my four-year old and do not have a clue of gaming architecture, what makes a raid or how old it is to read the same complaints that have little value for the game. When I left WoW and came here it was like a breath of fresh air and it still is, so far.

Let the slice ’n dice of my comments and opinions commence…

Speculation of course, but from the looks of things, the 9 Specializations aren’t getting the same weapon as their new weapon.
So far:

Ranger = Staff
Necro = G-Sword
Engineer = Hammer
Guardian = Longbow
Mesmer = Shield
Element = Sword

What’s left are:
Warrior = ??
Thief = ??
Revenant = ??

My speculation for them are as follows:
Warrior == ??
Thief == Rifle
Revenant == Dagger

The last of them is Warrior, which is a bit tougher to figure out, since there are many weapons left over that haven’t been used yet by the 8 other classes. Pistol seems to be on many people’s list, as the Warriors Specialization weapon. But what about Torch? What about Scepter? What about Focus? Short bow?

Those are likely what it will come down to for Warriors.

sadly they will probably not add new proffessions, yet the game is still without a martial artist class, how can this be?

That “problem” is easy to solve via a specialization.

I don’t know if someone mentioned it already so sorry if you did but, a really hope for scythes or/and whips.

Scythes are in the game. That weapon was merged with Staff. That’s why staff has at skin if you notice. Revenant’s Melee attacks are all AoE like the Dervish Melee attacks, and they even get transformations like the Dervish. Revenant is the Dervish merged with Ritualist but in heavy armor instead of light.

Two hands, two shields. Make it so.

Since shields are almost useless, i have to ask why would you use a shield for both hands? what kind of autoattack could you do with a shield? Throwing it Captain America style? That’d just look stupid in gw2.

Eles have the best shield in the game. Has 5 skills two I believe.

Essentially, with a lot borrowed, new specializations are “new professions”. A druid is not a ranger, and will certainly not be a… Poacher, or whatever, later. I think now that armor weights are evened out, I’m pretty sure we’ll just see new sub-professions. But that’s fine too. I’d prefer 9 new sub-professions to a new class personally. I like the set up.

I doubt that. From what we see from the Elementalist’s specialization , the special is still very much similar to the parent class, it just gets some unique weapon skills, and a few new skills and traits to go with it. But the Melee Ele is still similar to an Ele. Just different skills. Would be little different from just adding a new weapon to the parent class.

That IMO can’t replace the brand new mechanics of a new class altogether.

I could be wrong though.

I don’t know. I feel like with Shiro being confirmed, I have a hard time believing they won’t have a sword offhand, but I guess you never really know. Time will tell!

That was a Mesmer. Take notice of how the animation changes when the character switches to Auto attack from casting their attack. Its using Mesmer greatsword animation which is a ranged channel attack.
